Podcasts are stuck in "song" section....

I noticed all of a sudden I was losing space on my 2gb nano. I have had the same songs on for years, but I am a daily podcast listener. I could get 7 or 8 half hour long podcasts. Now I have no room left at all, but it is showing no podcasts. So I shuffled through my "songs" and found a bunch of podcasts (played podcasts, not unplayed). When plugged into PC with itunes, click on ipod>music, those podcasts are not visible. So, I cannot access them to delete them manually. Any ideas? I do not want to restore, because I have music from my old PC that crashed that I no longer have access to.

There are programs out there that can rip music from your iPod. Maybe if you get one of those you can get the music off to do a restore. It sounds like that is what it needs.

  • Podcasts are "stuck"; keep getting the same podcasts no matter what

    Greetings,
Gee, it seems the only problem I ever have with my iPhone is syncing. And it's started again.
I have subscriptions to about 30 podcasts, about half of those are checked to sync with my iPhone. About a week or so ago, I would listen to a podcast but when I synced with iTunes it would get marked as "new" again, reset, and stay on the iPhone. If I manually deleted it on the iPhone, the next sync would copy it back.
I've have this kind of problem in the past and it eventually just corrected itself, so I've just ignored the problem for several days.
Now it's gotten completely stuck. Trying to get the iPhone and iTunes to "re-sync" I turned off several podcasts in Podcast tab of iTunes and synced. Nothing happened. The podcasts are still on the iPhone. So I manually deleted from the iPhone and synced again. iTunes copied the disabled and deleted podcast bask to the iPhone!
So I tried to get radical. I reset and restored my iPhone from backup. Turned off all podcast syncing. All of the podcasts were still on the iPhone. I then turned podcast syncing back on, but unchecked every one of my regular podcasts and then check one, and only one, podcast that I normally never listen to on the iPhone. I then manually deleted +every single podcast+ on the iPhone. When I synced with iTunes, *iTunes (again) copied every single one of the disabled podcasts back to the iPhone!!!* Oh, and the one podcast I asked iTunes to put on the iPhone; it's not there. ;(
How can I "reset" the synchronization of podcasts between my iPhone and iTunes so they're talking to each other again? And please don't say wipe your iPhone—I have dozens of applications with settings and data that would all be lost. It would be easier to give up podcasts than the day it would take me to reconfigure every iPhone app.

I appear to have found a fix.
I changed my sync settings to 'manually manage music'.
Once i applied this the podcast icon underneath my device disappeared.
I then unchecked 'manually manage music' and applied the change.
the podcast icon underneath my device in itunes flickered on and off a few times then when it was finished syncing all the podcasts had gone.

  • Transfered audio cd, put tracks are placed in songs section, not audiobook

My ipod has been placing all of the audio tracks i have into the songs section instead of placing them in the audiobook section. Also, when i just want to listen to a specific audiobook, all of the chapters are out of order. Why is this happening and what can i do to fix this?

Now that we've established that you have the CD correctly imported into iTunes, we can move on from there.
Connect the iPod to iTunes. When it shows up as a Device (in the left window of iTunes) select it. You will be looking at the Summary tab (or pane).
On this pane, my choice is to have the option to Sync only ticked songs and videos selected. I recommend this option for you. This is relevant to the next step.
At the top of the pane select Music. On this pane, check the options for Syncing. You need to have Sync Music selected and then choose either Selected Playlists (which will only put your choice of Playlists onto your iPod) or Entire Music Library. If you select "Entire Music Library" then all your songs (one exception) will be transferred to your iPod.
The exception is: if you un-tick a song in your iTunes Library, then at the next Sync, it will be removed from the iPod but kept in your Library.
    Any luck?

  • Two movie rentals are "stuck" into download section. They start downloading again and again. Should vanished days ago...

As they expired days or months ago I can't watch them again, I don't even want to... The two movies are just there in the ITunes download section and also in the videos app...  Even if I delete them from the Video app, they appear again, as the movies start downloading again... What should I do? Thank you in advance!:)

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

  • Podcasts appear in Songs section as well

Hiya, does anyone know how to stop my podcasts appearing in my songs section also? They used not do this but then a while ago (maybe after an update?) they started to appear. I mainly use shuffle, so is a bit of a pain when a podcast kicks in.
    Cheers.

    Okay.
In iTunes 5, when you click on library, you have some 'radio' buttons across the top, just above the column titles . . . they are: All, Music, Audiobooks, Podcasts, Videos, Booklets . . .
When "All" is selected, you get it all. What you need to do is select "Music" and you'll see JUST your music. IMHO, it's much easier to see what you want with this method of keeping the library.

  • Podcasts in SONGS section???

How did my podcasts get into the songs section and how do I get them into the podcasts section? I'm using iTunes 7 on Win XP Home SP2.

Yes there is a little workaround..somewhat annoying but its good for now..if you go to iTunes...go to your podcasts library, if you want to transfer alot of them to your iPhone then you must go through the same process with any and every Podcast episode/Video..the way to do it is, select the one you want.
Then after youve selected the episode, just press Apple/Command I
thats to get the information, you will see the SUMMARY/INFO/VIDEO/SORTING.....tabs.
Click on Video, now you will see a drop down selection for MOVIE KIND and select TV SHOWS.
Then go to INFO tab and on GENRE all the way down select TV SHOWS and check PART OF COMPILATION option and now click OK... Now plug your iPhone. Go to the VIDEOS tab and you should see your Podcast Episode there under TV SHOWS
You have to do the same thing to any other podcast episodes, its annoying but its what works right now.

  • Podcasts are showing up under Albums, Songs and Artists categories on iPod

I recently purchased an iPod - 80gb. I used iTunes to subscribe to several podcasts.
On iTunes the podcasts are in the podcasts folder, the music is in the music folder - happy days!
However, on my ipod, as well as being listed under the podcast category, they are also accessible from Albums, Artists and Songs. This is seriously annoying.
Is this a bug? A girl who worked in the Apple store seems to think it might be when I brought my ipod in for them to check.
I use iTunes only to manage podcasts and music. I tried a restore and it's still the same.
The related issue is that while the podcasts sync fine and appear as desired in the podcast category, the played podcasts are still available via Albums, Artists and Songs even though I've instructed iTunes to only sync unplayed items.
Will this be fixed? Is there a workaround?

Unless Apple changes the software, there is no real fix. If you don't want podcasts to play when you're shuffling your music library, make sure the podcasts are set to Skip When Shuffling (under Get Info). And you can send your feedback to Apple here:

  • Hi tried to update several apps at once no they are stuck on installing.i can't delete them or open them.any suggestions?

Hi tried to update several apps at once and now they are stuck on installing.I can't open or delete them. Any suggestions ?

Here are a number of things that have worked in the past that you can try. If you already tried something in here, just ignore it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • My mp3s are stuck in limbo

I am trying to avoid restoring my 5th Generation 60 gig iPod...but I fear the worst, here is the situation.
I took my iPod off of a dock after listening to it, went to the artists section to pick something else, and there was nothing there all of a sudden. I hooked it up to my iMac (powerPC G5), it says, "iTunes cannot read the contents of iPod, go to the summary tab...click restore..."
When I disconnected my iPod and access settings/about/ it shows no songs but that there is only 3 GB left available. This leads me to believe the data is still stored, but just not appropriately being read? Any advice? Can this be salvaged without a complete restore? please help

I probably didn't explain the problem clearly.
When I open an event I would like to see the collection of photos, in thumbnail version.  Since last night, the photos are in the large view - one photo at a time.  I have to scroll through them to find the photo I want.  This is the case in all of my events and albums.
When I go to the view tab and click on thumbnails, the options are unavailable - they are there, but are light grey and they aren't accessible when I click on them.
When I refered to my photos being stuck in the editing view, I should have said they are stuck in the large view, showing one photo at a time only.

At this point you have no choice but to update the or delete them and reinstall them since you wont be able to use them until they update - or come out of the "waiting" loop.

  • Some apps are stuck, what should i do ?

I wanted to download all upgrades and now the apps for which upgrades were available are stuck. The download never completes so we can neither use the app or remove it. What should i do ?

Try any or all of these suggestions. They have worked for others in the past, but YMMV.

    2. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.

  • Podcast menu stuck at "unwatched" view

I was listening to podcasts on my Apple TV (2nd Gen) streamed from my MacBook. I changed the view once to show only "unwatched" (the top of the podcast menu would show "by date", "by show", or "unwatched".
Now the menu seems stuck at "unwatched" and I can't change the view to one of the other options. I arrow up until the "unwatched" is selected and then try to click the left arrow and it makes the popping/click sound, but doesn't move.
This view also doesn't give me access to my podcast playlists, like the view before did.
I tried backing up to the main menu and going back in, but it didn't work. Tried putting the the ATV to sleep and then waking it back up--same problem. All other menus (Movies, TV shows) are working fine in the "by date" and "by show/movie" section.
The same thing happens when I go to the Podcasts section streaming from my Mac Mini. It's as if ALL Podcasts from all sources are stuck on the unwatched view only and will not let me view playlists or "by date" or "by show".
    Any ideas?

By the way, "Show Playlists" IS selected to show all in the Audio & Video preference settings.
Now, that I've gone into the settings section, my remote won't let me get out. I can move up and down in the settings menu, but can't move out and left to "computers", "internet", "tv shows", "movies", etc.
What in the world would be causing this?

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.
    Need Help!!!

  • I have an apple ipad version 6.13 working. I cant move my mp3s that I download from my mac onto my ipad it just doesnt work and I have tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions? I have home sharing on and everything but I am really stuck. some song

I am using my ipad to transfer some mp3s over to my ipad. some go over, most do not. I even had trouble with videos syncing over. I am running version 6.13. I have plenty of space left but they just wont get on there. This is what happens. I take a video I have and make an mp3 out of it sometimes, sometimes its just plain mp3s. I do the conversion and it comes out fine but it goes to my computer itunes and not on my ipad. Does anyone know what I can try to get the mp3s onto my ipad? its driving me nuts not to be abke to do this. Thank you for any suggestions!!! PS I am using snow leopard as my OS on my mac

no they are already in mp3 format I just tried that home sharing today because I couldnt find any other reason why they werent syncing. here is an example of a sync I just tried. I made an mp4 concert into an mp3 it came out perfect on my computer.. then I tried to sync it to my ipad with no luck, other than it going on my computer, it did not show up anywhere on my ipad in any area of the music sections etc playlists, songs, albums etc. Its just not there but remains on my computer. thats why I tried the home share today to see if that would help. Either I am really missing something or there is something wrong with this ipad. Did you ever have any trouble like this, does anyone? and what is something good to try? thank you again for answering! I appreciate it.

  • New to iTunes. All my podcasts are totally inaudible, static, buzzing

I just uninstalled everything as per directions, in order.  I re-installed iTunes and still all the podcasts are totally unintelligible. It is nothing but noise.  Can anyone tell me why I can't use this product?  I cannot buy an Ipod if I can't access iTunes. Hello?

When you add a new episode to your feed and upload it, it appears immediately for subscribers because their iTunes application reads the feed directly and the Store is not involved.
However because of the huge number of podcasts in the Store (thousands) the Store caches the feed and checks it for updates periodically. For this reason it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store: sometimes it can be less, and occasionally the whole process seems to get stuck and it can take several days.
Your feeds are up to date when subscribing, so it's just a matter of waiting for the Store to catch up.
