Podcasts aren't playing from playlist

I subscribe to a number of podcasts, and I add them all to a smart playlist called Podcasts, with parameters:
All:
Media Kind = Podcast
Play Count = 0
Live Updating on
This playlist syncs correctly with my Nano, in that the episodes show up when I view the playlist (and also when I view the Podcasts section), but when I try to play one, nothing happens.
I select an episode from the playlist, the play screen appears, but the time is 0:00 to -0:00 and nothing plays. It's just a gray screen with the music symbol on it. This occurs for any podcasts I play from the playlist, but music from playlists and podcasts from the Podcasts section both work fine.
I'm using iTunes 9.0.2 and the lastest Nano 4g firmware.

Podcast playbacks seem to be AFU since Nano 3G. Not sure if it's firmware or iTunes 9, but playlists that used to play in order don't. The first one will play and then some other podcast comes on in random order. It's seriously maddening!
Wish I could help, but I haven't been able to get a smart playlist to work properly in the year I've owned my 4th gen. My 1st Gen worked fine but this is driving me nuts! And I haven't found any answers anywhere.

  • Playing from playlist then switching to podcast, Pause button becomes Stop

While I'm playing from my playlist and switching to podcast, the button that once was a PAUSE button switches to a STOP button. While still playing I switch back to playlist and doesn't change back to a PAUSE button, but stays a STOP button.
Any ideas as to what's going on? I'm using iTunes version 7.0.2.16 on Windows XP.
    Thanks

  • Video won't play from playlist or album

I have 2 music videos that play fine when started from video - put if I start either of them from playlist or album they come up and don't play.
    Appeciate any assistance.

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
I've looked through the code and couldn't find any path problems as I put everything in a single folder and ftped the whole folder up.  I'm missing something though.  It works well on my home machine Off a jump drive and off the hard drive.  When I go to load it up at school it doesn't play on my school machine or after I load it up on their server.  I had an idea that I wonder if my school machine has some type of blocker on it that's not letting it play off the jump drive (which works fine on my home machine).  I've loaded it up on the server and will check it tonight on my home machine to see If its some sort of school blocking thing.  Other than that I'm stumped.

  • Ipod alarm won't play from playlists

So, I just recieved a brand new ipod from apple because my battery was not holding a charge. I cannot get the alarm to play from a playlist. The only option under sound is beep and that would never get me up. Any thoughts?

I know this is a silly question, but do you have a playlist on your iPod that you can select?
Otherwise the only option is the 'beep'.

  • New Synced Podcast doesn't play from start

So I sync up new podcast that is downloaded to my itouch 2nd gen. When I disconnect I start to play the new podcast,
however it doesnt start at 0:00, instead it sometimes start at 2 mins, 30 mins or last few mins. I haven't touched the podcast in
itunes or on my itouch except when I first launched it.
My old podcast, sometimes I haven't finished listening to it and sync up with the new unplayed podcasts every friday.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
    thanks

repairing permissions didn't change anything. It crashes when i go to the itunes store, downloads, or genius. There are other times when it crashes too.
try booting your Mac into _*safe mode*_ and launch iTunes while in it. does the problem persist ?
also, create a new (temporary) user account, log into that, and launch iTunes. what happens ?
I've read bad things about 10.6.4. I am scared to try without having a backup first.
yes, backing up is a good idea
however, the combo updater is a different beast vs. the one you get via software update. it will find and replace corrupted files, or insert missing components. it might just fix your crash problems.
I don't have the external drive available at the moment, but as far as I know, it's the entire library
well, the question is where is the iTunes library file ? this is what an entire iTunes folder looks like. it contains the music (or media) folder and e.g. the library file etc.
if your entire iTunes folder (which contains the library file) is on the external, just copy it from the external to <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the MBP, overwriting the iTunes folder in place there.
or copy the *library file* from the PowerMac's iTunes folder to the MBP's iTunes folder.

  • How to make ipod shuffle 4th to play podcast in normal order from old to new ones?

It plays only in crazy reverse order from new to old podcasts. I've looked through bunch of forums but didn't find adequate answers. Stupied Apple, it even doesn't have normal support......

The only way you can control the order of podcast episode playback is to put them on a playlist (in iTunes), in any desired order.  Then, sync that playlist to the shuffle.
On the shuffle, set the power switch to the play-in-order (middle) position.  Use VoiceOver to select that playlist.  The podcast episodes should play in playlist order.  Another advantage of this method is being able to "mix and match" pisodes from different podcasts on one continuous playlist.
You can set up the iPod's Podcasts screen in iTunes to select this playlist under Include Episodes from Playlists, which automatically synca changes you make to the playlist (in iTunes) to the shuffle, the next time the shuffle is connected.

  • Play more swf-s from playlist

    Hi,
I have installed the Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 on
my PC. It's work under IE, Opera and Firefox, but play only one swf
file which I selected. I want to play more swf files one after the
other automatically, like from playlist. What must I do to play
from playlist or from more selected files automatically (also
repeat the complete playlist when it's finished the playlist)? Or
whith which (free) player can I do it?
    Thanks

    Thanks...
This question has a simple answer. There is a feature of
Flash that you can export called a projector. A projector is a
standalone EXE that wraps the Flash Player and the SWF content
inside of it. You'll see the projector option in CS3's Publish
    Settings.
So just create projectors and distribute that EXE.
I should note that projectors created with Flash CS3 will
contain the Flash Player 9 runtime (inside the EXE). You can also
create projectors by opening a SWF in the standalone player, then
    choosing File> Create Projector.
You can get the standalone player for FP10 from
"Archived Flash Players available for testing purposes"

  • Does the EQ setting affect only audio played from the Music app?

Does the EQ setting in Settings -> Music affect only audio played from the Music app or does it also affect any other audio? Specifically, I'd like to know if the setting is applied to audio podcasts that are played from Downcast. Thanks!

They will only affect the Music app.

  • On-the-go playlist bug when it contains podcasts (will not play them)

    Hello,
I want to report a bug in the iPod Nano 3rd generation. Here are the steps to reproduce, first to check that the playlist works with only songs, and then to see that it does not work with songs and podcasts, and lastly to see that it does not work at all with only podcasts.
    1. Clear the On-the-go playlist.
    2. Add any number of songs to the On-the-go playlist (let's say 3).
    3. Confirm that you can play the playlist by selecting it in the list of playlists and hitting the play button on your iPod. The Now Playing screen should say "1 of 3".
    1. Clear the On-the-go playlist. If it was playing it should now be stopped.
    2. Add any number of songs to the On-the-go playlist (we'll add 3 for now).
    3. Add at least one podcast to the On-the-go playlist.
    4. Highlight the On-the-go playlist in the list of playlists. It should say "4 Songs".
    5. Hit the play button. The Now Playing screen will say "1 of 3". At the end of the third song you will be returned to the Playlists screen without the podcast ever having been played.
    1. Clear the On-the-go playlist.
    2. Add at least one podcast to the On-the-go playlist. We''ll add 2 podcasts.
    3. Go the Playlists screen and highlight the On-the-go playlist. It should say "2 Songs".
    4. Hit the play button. The Now playing screen should show, the songtitle displayed is that of a song that was playing recently. There will be no album art displayed, even if that last songs did have album art associated with it. The screen will say "1 of 0" and there is no sound. There is no play/pause indicator next to the battery indicator. The time indicators are "0:00" and -"0:00" left and right respectively. You can hit the center button and try to scrub the position on the bar, it will not go beyond the time of the last song that was played on the iPod.
Should you reset the iPod and try to play the playlist with only podcasts now, the screen will have no song information, just the missing album art picture and "1 of 0". There is also no time indicators and the bar on the bottom is as wide as the screen minus its normal padding.
If you hit the center button while in the Now Playing screen with the "1 of 0" display, and you then try to scrub the player the iPod will reset.
Can someone confirm this bug? Is there a fix?
I really like to have multiple podcasts in the On-the-go playlist when using Nike+ and now I can't. I don't like to have to reach for my iPod during running to start another podcast, because you have to pause the workout to do that. I don't want to save the playlist, because I won't ever use it again, so I'd just have to remove it again. If it could just work, that'd be great, thanks!

Well, I guess Apple just doesn't care about bugs in the iPhone or customer satisfaction. Just as long as they have the money they couldn't care less about anything else.
    Thanks Apple!

  • I can't play a podcast for an audiobook from Librivox. It's in my podcast library but I can't get it to play.

I downloaded a podcast for an audiobook from Librivox on "A Jury of her Peers." It shows up in my library, but when I try to play it nothing happens. No audio.  It's doing the same thing if I try to log in & play it at work.  Home computer runs Windows XP, work runs Windows7.

ah, ok yes i did do that last night. I just did it again and relized that ther is a "Downloads" tab. I selected it and stated that there was a download error. I'm currently retrying it now. and it is now showing in my videos.
thanks for helping me focus a little more to get where I need to be.

  • Hi. Downloaded iphone 6.0 and my video playlists in "Music" are now gone, but their names are still there. The videos are still in "Videos" and play from there 1 at a time manually.

Hi. Downloaded iphone 6.0 and my video playlists in "Music" are now gone, but their names are still there. The videos are still in "Videos" and play from there 1 at a time manually.  It gets weirder:
When looking at the empty screen with the name of my former playlist on top,  if I tap the edit button on the phone, tap the + button to add a 'song' to the playlist, and then tap 'Done' without adding anything, I can see all my videos in the playlist with the red minus symbol next to each of them. But as soon as I tap 'Done' again they all disappear!
I saw on another forum that someone has had the same problem but fixed it by, and I quote
"If you go to Get Info and change the Media Kind from Movie to Music Video under the Options tab, they all now appear in the playlists!"
I'm happy this worked for him, but when I tap "File" in itunes, the "Get info" field is greyed out, so I can't test the solution proposed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Same problem on my ipad 2...but it works well on my iphone 4s.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thank you

  • How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)

How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)
So I'm adding new songs to a very old playlist? Is there anyway that when I add them, they automatically go to top of playlist? How about getting one song to the top of a playlist.  That drag to arrange function is very annoying because it is slow and the playlist does not scroll up very well on a PC.

Make a new playlist by pressing the little plus button at the very lower left corner of iTunes. An new playlist will appear in the Source pane called "untitled playlist". While the name is highlighted, you can change it to whatever you want. Drag all of the tracks from all the albums that comprise a single book to that playlist. Sync that playlist to your iPod.

  • Tip: How to play a playlist one song at a time from iTunes on a computer using the checkbox property

I would like to share a tip about how to play a playlist one song at a time from iTunes on a computer. The tip I am sharing is simple, but I was not able to find it in the iTunes Help. After searching on the internet I found the idea for this solution in a discussion in which this was presented as a frustrating problem rather than a desired behavior. This tip relies on the checkbox for each song in iTunes. For a song in a playlist to play automatically, the checkbox must be checked. To keep a song from playing in a playlist, simply uncheck it. Therefore, to keep all songs from playing automatically in a playlist, simply uncheck them all. Now you have a list of desired songs in a desired order but none of them will play automatically. You can play each one when you want to play it without having to search for the next song and without having to be at the computer to stop the playing after each song.
    Step by step:
    1. Create the playlist.
    2. Uncheck all of the check boxes in the playlist (In iTunes for Windows, ctrl click one of the check marks to uncheck all of the checkboxes at once)
    3. Now double click (or select and press spacebar) a song to play it. It will stop when finished because there is no other song checked to be played next.
    4. If you want to change back to normal sequential play, ctrl click one of the check marks again to change all of the checkboxes back to the checked status.
Based on some discussions I found while looking for a solution (including at least one in which the questioner got bashed about why anybody would ever want to do such a thing and in which the proposed solutions were things like creating one song playlists or simply press stop after each song), some may not understand why this would ever be desired.  Here's why I wanted to do it:
I was responsible for playing a series of songs at a dance. I needed to stop after each song to have a transition time to allow me to introduce the next song and to give new dancers time to get onto the floor and other dancers an opportunity to leave the floor. Furthermore, I was also dancing and didn't want to have to spend time searching for the next song (which is why I wanted to create a playlist in advance with just the songs I wanted to play in the order I wanted to play them) and I wanted each song to stop after playing since I was not at the computer to press stop.
I hope this will help others who have a similar need.

Thank you! I put some self help hypnosis tracks to listen to on my iPod. I did not want to go to the next track automatically, I wanted to listen to them individually, one at a time. (If I fell asleep, I did not want to 'wake up' in the middle of a different track.) Your information helps me understand that I need to re-load this playlist onto my iPod from my  Mac computer, only first, I need to UNCHECK the boxes in front of each track so the iPod will STOP each time after playing the selected track. It is too bad that so many functions are not availabvle within the iPod, but that is probably why they can make it so compact.

  • Music in my playlist are grayed out and I'm not able to play from the Windows nor my devices

I tried syncing and the songs are bypassed while playing from a playlist. Help!!!

Did you purchase the movie or rent it?  If you rented it, it cannot be transferred from your iPhone.
If you purchased it, are you sure you're using the same Apple ID on your Mac as you are on your iPhone?  If not, you would be trying to watch a movie owned by someone else.
