Podcasts deleted when contacts  iPod sync

No matter what settings (including the "sync podcasts" being unchecked) I use, when I sync my contacts to my iPod it deletes all my podcasts. So very irritating.
Help would be appreciated. I've spent about two hours on this and will give up now.
Thanks in advance,
Bea55

First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A QUICK RESPONSE.
It Worked! Whew!
I think where I went wrong before was after I unchecked sync podcasts I hit "apply" in that window and it wiped out my podcasts (because I had deleted them in my computer). So, now I'll just leave that sync podcasts uncheked and drop my new podcasts in manually, right?
Thanks again,
B

  • When my iPod syncs, over 100 songs no longer download.  What happened?  They used to download but now they don't.

When my iPod syncs, over 100 songs (much of the library, actually) no longer download.  What happened?  This used to work just fine.

This just happened to me this morning. When I left work on Friday, everything was working in iTunes. And now this morning, I open up iTunes and nothing plays. I did all the troubleshooting from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610 and nothing helped. Anyone have any ideas???

  • Why don't my podcasts delete when I've listened to them.

Why don't my podcasts delete when I've listened to them. I have them set to do that on my phone and in iTunes but with the app they now stay there until I manually delete them.
I let them completely finish but still they stay on my phone presumably clogging up valuable space there and making it harder to find the unplayed ones.
Why oh why can't we have podcasts back in with our music on iTunes - now I can't listen to a podcast and then when it finishes let it just go onto play music - have to swap apps.  God, I hate Apple sometimes when they make something worse and tell you it is for you own good.  And yes, I know all big companies are the same....

    See:
In what bookmarks folder are the bookmarks located that you try to search?
You can click the "Show your bookmarks" button that is positioned next to the star on the location/address bar to get a drop-down list with the bookmarks.
Only bookmarks that were created by clicking the star once and that haven't been moved out of the Unsorted folder can't be reached directly.
You can also open the bookmarks sidebar via that drop-down list or use the Ctrl+B shortcut to have the sidebar where you can use its search bar to find a bookmark.
For easiest access you can move a bookmark the the Bookmarks Toolbar folder and have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible.

  • Podcasts deleting when syncing

I am having a problem when trying to sync my ipod or iphone with itunes on my PC. Whenever I attempt to do so, podcasts will delete themselves from my hard-drive. The podcast still appears in itunes but there is an exclamation point by the podcast and no file linked to the podcast.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, do you know how to fix the problem?

Don't know your situation, but iTUnes consider podcast played as soon as play has started. If set to sync unplayed episodes then partially played podcasts will be removed from ipod.
I have found best settings for podcasts are for iTunes and iPod to be set to keep all episodes. Then delete the files yourself when done listening to them. Or play podcasts from playlist and manage contents of playlist.

  • Nokia E71 and Isync-Delete my contacts after syncing

Hey guys really need help! after syncing with entourage some of my contacts got deleted for no reasons. I am not sure how many but quite a few got deleted.
Can I know how can I stop this from happening and sometimes it duplicates the events.
    Please help thanks heap!

Syncing Entourage with iCal and Address Book and then onto your phone increases the likelihood of duplication or corruption of data.
In general, the less things you are syncing with the better, so consider switching to Address Book and iCal rather than using Entourage for best results.
Clicking "Reset Sync History..." in iSync's Preferences may resolve your current issue, but make sure you backup first and keep regular backups in the future to avoid data loss, if this happens again.

  • Is there any way to retreive playlists that got deleted during an ipod sync?

I was attempting to add new music to my iPod, and it didn't want to do it. Finally it did, but in the process it deleted all the music. I managed to bring back most of the music, but I can't find the playlists. Any help on finding them and getting them back?

Most of my songs disappeared. I had 300 some odd songs, and now I only have like 49 songs....I turned my iPod off and unplugged my cord from my laptop and they are still gone. I am so mad right now, because my music is my life. I really need someone to help me please!!

" i thought that my music was backed up on itunes, even music not purchased on itunes. is this correct? "
No.  Unless you paid for itunes match service and you uploaded them to this service.

  • Podcasts keep synching even when podcasts aren't selected to sync

    Help?
I have podcasts in my iTunes that I have checked, so I can listen to them on my iPhone, BUT they keep synching with my 80gig iPod even though I have unchecked "sync podcasts" in the tabs when my iPod syncs.
I restored my iPod and it keeps happening. I'm guessing that somehow these podcasts are in one of my nearly 100 playlists. However, shouldn't unchecking "sync podcasts" override them from being synched even if they are in a playlist? It used to until the last two iTunes updates.

Er...it says the question is answered, but there's only one post in the thread...
This is my first post, so let me know if I'm missing something...sorry, thanks!
Anyhow, I'm having precisely the same problem - 80Gb iPod and 8Gb iPhone 3g.
My podcasts keep syncing to my iPod, even though I've unchecked sync podcasts. (I've currently got 'sync all unplayed episodes', but I've still got the same problem of getting everything on the iPod.)

  • Itunes deleting music on ipod because the original file culd not be found

The music on my ipod is being deleted when i start syncing my music from iTunes to my ipod. The thing is all the music on my ipod is still on Itunes. This started happening recently, it was all fine before.Since the original file cant be found on Itunes how do you stop it from deleting off your ipod?
Also could it be a problem since my music is stored on a separate hard drive, maybe thats why the original file cant be found, even though its still connected to the computer.
If it cant be fixed then is there an easy way to find the original files so the i wont have to find the "lost" files then delete them and sync them over again.
Could it be deleting the files off my ipod because half the songs on Itunes "could not find the original file" even though the songs are on my ipod already?

I use manual sync for that very reason.
And also for that very reason, I maintain my iTunes folder on my laptop as a backup for my iPod; I only delete "songs" when I want to remove them from my iPod, and I use auto sync because I can. If I ever have to restore (and I did once, when I had to have my iPod replaced), I know I can do a complete job of it.
(Should my iPod files exceed the capacity of my laptop hard disk, I'll probably switch to using a folder on an external drive for this purpose.)

  • Podcasts Automatically Replaced on iPod

    Hello,
When my iPod syncs and updates, all my old podcasts are automatically removed and replaced with the new ones. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I have also tried dragging the old podcasts to the iPod, but it isn't allowed.
    Thanks.
    lsb

Change your iPod podcast settings so that it syncs ALL podcasts and not just those "unplayed". I have mine set to unplayed so that as soon as I've listened to it, it takes them off of my iPod.

  • Number of Podcasts Episode differences between iPod Touch in iTunes and physically from my iPod Touch.

Physically on my iPod it says I have 19 episodes of a podcasts but when i look on my device in iTunes, it only shows that i have 11 episodes. Here are screen shots of my iPod Touch and iTunes

Have you downloaded the additonal (or any) episodes directly onto your Touch using Wi-Fi? If so, have you Synced your iPod with your iTunes since then and what options have you set for Podcasts? (When the iPod is connected to your iTunes, look on the Device/Podcasts pane to see the settings.)

  • Slow iPod sync with network drive

I run a small network for my home/office (I am self employed) with about 4 PCs for me and my family.
We have 3 iPods in our family and we just use one PC to host iTunes, but because we have so much music, I have put the music on a network drive served from my file server (Windows Small Business Server - Windows Server 2003 based).
There's no problem with this setup, except one:
I've noticed that when iPods sync with iTunes, it takes a very long time, perhaps 5 times as long than when I had my music files on an external hard drive directly connected to the PC on which we run iTunes.
This is fustrating. My question is: is there anything that can be done about this ?
I can't really understand why this should be an issue. iTunes has, stored in the library files on my local PC, the details of all my music files. So when my iPod syncs, surely iTunes consults the iPod and consults what is in iTunes and figures out what should change - and then and only then should iTunes need to connect to the network drive to actually get any necessary files. Is my understanding wrong of what iTunes is doing when syncing an iPod ?
The issue is that even with no changes, sync-ing is an issue.
Any help on this gratefully received - have looked in this forum and other places, but haven't managed to trawl and info on my issue.

Having been given an iPod video 60Gig as a present, I am sometimes forced to use it.
Recently I tried - I downloaded and installed latest itunes 7.5 on the PC running Windows XP.
Built up the library of music - tried to do a sync. So slow I nearly hit the PC. The transfer rate would merely get 40 Meg on in 5 minutes (thats my estimate all I know is it never finished). I tried to leave it running for 3 hours and still not finished - the size of music to transfer was about 2400 songs.
I then tried to use Vista Home Basic - with itunes 7.5 - it wouldnt even recognize the ipod.
After a few days of giving up and banging my head against the wall I tried Linux too - but that was slow too.
I eventually went back to Vista and de-installed itunes 7.5 - found version 6.05 and installed it. It went through like clockwork (well as clockwork as can be it was magically fast but fast enough to fill half of the 60Gig).
I then had the magic idea - why not update to 7.5 from 6.05 and guess what - its slow again painfully slow.
    Version 7.5 *****!

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists.  If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

  • Partially Listened To Podcasts in iPod are Deleted when Syncing

When I only listen to part of a long podcast and then go to sync with iTunes, the partially listened to podcast is deleted from the iPod. The only way to get it to reload on my iPod is to mark it as unplayed after the sync (and deletion) and then resync and fast forward (very annoying) to the point where I left off.

I find this behavior very annoying as well.
Here's another one: I can't play a podcast category and have all of the individual episodes played in sequence.

  • Podcasts will load to IPod manually but when I sync they delete

I have got 2 podcasts which for some reason will not sync automatically. I can load them manually but as soon as I change to sync automatically they are deleted from the Ipod nano although they remain in ITunes.
I have the latest version of ITunes and both of the podcasts in question are 'checked' for inculsion in any sync.
    Can anyone help please?

A lot of people have problems with automatic transfer of Podcasts.
Most issues seem to have been fixed in the most recent version of iTunes.
However, no good fix has been found, at least in my experience, by anyone.
    Good luck!
