Podcasts deleted

I have the new iTunes 12. I have no idea why, but a lot of my podcasts just got deleted when I plugged the iPod into the computer. I use Windows and I have Unplayed/My Episodes and Saved showing on the bottom? Can anyone please help me restore them?

Ha, this happened to me too. Anyway, the actual files are probably still in your HD. To check, open itunes> go to edit>preferences> and then click the advanced tab.
In this tab you will see a box with a file path that should lead to your files. I dont know how to restore your podcasts in itunes, but Id like to know....
Hope this helps.

  • Podcasts Delete even when "keep all episodes" checked. How to stop this??

All- I have a problem with podcasts deleting after they are played. Unlike a lot of people that listen to podcasts regularly, I don't mind if they sit around a while. I want to delete them manually, when I want to.
When right clicking on the podcasts I have the "do not auto-delete" on.
In the SETTINGS page I have the EPISODES TO KEEP set to KEEP ALL EPISODES.
My problem is that when I play a podcast it deletes immediately (although it will play). Even if I am playing one and press PAUSE, it won't even continue as it has been deleted and instead goes to the most recent episode downloaded (which will then be deleted as well.)
It seems I have the two most obvious things CHECKED the correct way. What am I missing here.
    thanks,
    Coffeeicepapers

The short answer is "yes" you can stop Firefox from basing the folder on the site -- at least the last time I checked.
This requires something a little special, which is to create a new preference. Here's how:
    (1) Select and copy the following:
    browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite
    (2) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (3) Right-click any existing preference and choose New, then Boolean
    (4) In the dialog that pops up, paste the preference name you copied in step 1 and click OK. The next dialog should have false already selected (but if not, select false) then click OK.
You're done. That should do it.

  • Why don't my podcasts delete when I've listened to them.

Why don't my podcasts delete when I've listened to them. I have them set to do that on my phone and in iTunes but with the app they now stay there until I manually delete them.
I let them completely finish but still they stay on my phone presumably clogging up valuable space there and making it harder to find the unplayed ones.
Why oh why can't we have podcasts back in with our music on iTunes - now I can't listen to a podcast and then when it finishes let it just go onto play music - have to swap apps.  God, I hate Apple sometimes when they make something worse and tell you it is for you own good.  And yes, I know all big companies are the same....

    See:
In what bookmarks folder are the bookmarks located that you try to search?
You can click the "Show your bookmarks" button that is positioned next to the star on the location/address bar to get a drop-down list with the bookmarks.
Only bookmarks that were created by clicking the star once and that haven't been moved out of the Unsorted folder can't be reached directly.
You can also open the bookmarks sidebar via that drop-down list or use the Ctrl+B shortcut to have the sidebar where you can use its search bar to find a bookmark.
For easiest access you can move a bookmark the the Bookmarks Toolbar folder and have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible.

  • Podcasts deleted when contacts  iPod sync

No matter what settings (including the "sync podcasts" being unchecked) I use, when I sync my contacts to my iPod it deletes all my podcasts. So very irritating.
Help would be appreciated. I've spent about two hours on this and will give up now.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bea55

First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A QUICK RESPONSE.
    It Worked! Whew!
I think where I went wrong before was after I unchecked sync podcasts I hit "apply" in that window and it wiped out my podcasts (because I had deleted them in my computer). So, now I'll just leave that sync podcasts uncheked and drop my new podcasts in manually, right?
    Thanks again,
    B

  • Podcasts deleting when syncing

I am having a problem when trying to sync my ipod or iphone with itunes on my PC. Whenever I attempt to do so, podcasts will delete themselves from my hard-drive. The podcast still appears in itunes but there is an exclamation point by the podcast and no file linked to the podcast.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, do you know how to fix the problem?

Don't know your situation, but iTUnes consider podcast played as soon as play has started. If set to sync unplayed episodes then partially played podcasts will be removed from ipod.
I have found best settings for podcasts are for iTunes and iPod to be set to keep all episodes. Then delete the files yourself when done listening to them. Or play podcasts from playlist and manage contents of playlist.

  • Unchecking "Sync all unplayed episodes of... podcasts" DELETES THEM ALL?

From iTunes 7.4 to 7.5, Apple has made a horrible thing even worse. Previously, if you left "Sync podcasts" checked on your home computer and plugged your iPod into your work computer, all your podcasts would be deleted because the iPod would turn on the work computer's auto-syncing on, and there were zero podcasts on the work computer. The only workaround for this was to uncheck "Sync podcasts" on your home computer immediately after syncing all your podcasts.
Well, they decided this wasn't stupid enough, so now, in 7.5, unchecking "Sync podcasts" on your home computer IMMEDIATELY DELETES the podcasts from the iPod. There is now no way whatsoever to keep podcasts on your iPod if you regularly connect your iPod to two Macs, short of downloading each and every podcast to BOTH computers.
If I'm missing something, please let me know. 'Til then, I'll be downgrading to 7.1.1.

It looks like this issue was fixed with the iPod 1.2.3 software update. Unchecking "Sync Podcasts" still deletes the podcasts from the iPod, but there's no longer any need to uncheck it, since other copies of iTunes (like the one at the office) no longer turn on "Sync Podcasts" automatically.

  • Can I change the default for podcast deletion after listening?

I have only just discovered that many of my cherished podcasts have been getting deleted after I listen to them. I originally set the option to NEVER delete after listening when I first installed iTunes years ago and I haven't change it since. However, I can only assume that it was changed by Apple during an upgrade at some point and I never noticed. The delete after listening option has been set to On for podcasts going back many years (2008 at least).
    Two questions:
    1. Is there some way to change the default setting to Off?
    2. Is there a way to bulk change the setting for multiple existing podcasts?
    Thanks.
For what it;'s worth; I'm running iTunes 12.1.2.27 on Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell Latitude laptop.

Choose the Podcast view you are using (either Podcasts/Podcasts or Podcasts/Episode List) from below:
    or
and select Delete Played Episodes <Off> from the drop-down menu

  • Podcasts delete themselves while playing

    Hi all-
There's one podcast to which I subscribe (KQRS Morning Show) which will randomly delete themselves from my 5S while they are playing, and I am forced to re-download them.  I do not sync them with my Mac, and this happens throughout the day while I'm away from my home.  This is irritating beyond belief.  Any thoughts or opinions would be most appreciated.  Thanks!

Go to the podcast page of the library on that computer and click the settings tab at the bottom. Check and see what the "Keep" option is set to.

  • Podcasts deleted from iPhone4 when download new podcasts on the phone

download podcasts both on computer and iPhone, occasionallt the existing podacasts are deleted when a new podcast is downloaded.
Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed? There's never any issue on sync between device and computer.
Would having 2 Apple id's accounts having anything to do with it? ... Different countries.
    Thanks.

In iTunes go to Podcasts > Settings > Episodes to keep... Did this get changed to Most recent episode?

  • ITunes v7 changes podcast deletion behavior?

It seems to me that when I installed v7, that podcasts that had been partially played (no blue dot, but no "last played time" either) are now deleted from my iPod. In v6, they were auto-deleted only when the last played time was not empty.
My syncing is set to "sync all unplayed episodes", and preferences are set to "keep all unplayed episodes".
    Anyone else see this behavior?
      Windows XP Pro

There also once was a setting to manage podcasts
checked/unchecked. That has also been removed
You can do it this way.
1 - Uncheck "Manually manage music".
2 - Check "Sync only checked items".
3 - Check "Manually manage music". The "Sync only
checked items" stays checked (but greyed out).
4 - Select the Podcasts tab and select which Podcasts
    you want to sync.
5 - Put a check in front of the episodes you want on
    the iPod.
Unfortunately this approach has two drawbacks:
minor: now all the songs that have somehow become unchecked do not synch.
major: I receive error -50 unknown error synching ipod. Restarting iTunes or reconnecting ipod results in the setting be lost.
Bottom line: this is a poor, poor "upgrade" from Apple. It removes several key pieces of functionality and is slower and buggier than v6.

  • Podcast delete from iphone

After I listen to a podcast in the new podcasts app, I swipe to delete, but the podcast name remains with the cloud icon. I know the podcast is no longer stored on my phone, but having over 500 cloud icons makes for a cumbersome window. Is there any way to remove a "heard" podcast completley?

No ideas mate, but I have exactly the same thing happening on my iPhone 3GS.
Even turning off Podcast syncing to remove all podcasts will not remove it from the phone.
It's only a little thing, but being a neat freak, it's a very annoying.

  • E-Mail and Podcasts deleted after sync

Recently all of my older e-mails and podcasts (unlistened to) were automatically deleted after syncing my iPhone to iTunes. All podcasts were set to keep all episodes, so there should be no reason for this. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to the Messages application.  Hit the menu key and select Options.  Select General Options.  Scroll down to where it says "Keep Messages" and set as desired.

  • Partial downloads podcasts deleting

How do you delete a partial downloaded podcast from iphone

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Random podcasts deleted during update

My Shuffle usually has 50/50 split between podcasts and songs. Usually I remove everything and build a temporary play list of podcasts that I then transfer to the shuffle. I then just "Autofill" the remaining space. The next day when I plug in the ipod it immediately tries to update all the tracks on the shuffle and finds some podcasts are missing and cannot be updated. Somehow random podcasts are deleted when I plug in the shuffle. I have tested this by reviewing the temporary playlist from the day before and then checking for the files on the PC before plugging it in. I backed them up and sure enough when I plugged the Shuffle two podcasts vanished. Any suggestions?

Oh great.  Which carrier are you with?  This is the major problem with the OTA updates done directly on the device.  There is no usable backup made and if anything goes wrong you lose your data.  If you haven't made any backups with Desktop Manager then I'm afraid your data is gone.  Sorry.  Call your carrier and complain.  We have been trying to convince RIM and the carriers to issue warnings with the OTA upgrades to suggest to people that they should backup their device on the computer before doing the OTA upgrades.
