Podcasts disappear when copying to device/folder

If I highlight a file and drag or copy to my SD card sometimes but not always the file will say it has been deleted. The exclamation mark says the original file could not be found. The file is lost.

1.  Do you have adequate cache space?  Is it on C drive, or a dedicated drive or partition?  If it is nearly full that could cause problems.
        - 35 GB available on C: using a centralized cache in default location
2.  Compact the cache.  That will get rid of all unmached files and thumbnails, and reduce its size.
        - I have no option in Bridge to compact the cache that I can find - either in the preferences or from the cache menu (I am using Bridge CS2 with Photoshop CS2)
3.  Delete temp file with a product like cclean
        - What temp file? I have used CCleaner on numerrous occassions for cleaning up but only recall some files located in a   \CameraRaw\cache location
4. Go to a folder that has problems.  Then go to Tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder
        - Did this many times - does not fix problem.
5. Close program then restart and see if problems are still there in xxx folder
         - same as #4 - opened and closed Bridge and Photoshop many times trying to purge and rebuild. still broken.
6.  Open Windows Explorer and look at thumbnails.  Look at contents of each folder closely and see if any do not have a thumbnail.  That would indicate you have corrupted files there or bad suffix.  Figure out what it is and fix or delete
     - The files are all okay - Windows Explorer displays thumbnails and I have no problem using Adobe Lightroom and working on any of the files.

  • Files in cd start to disappear when copying them

Hello, was wondering if you could help me...
Everytime I start to copy files from a cd/dvd, the disappear mid way, and I have to eject and re-insert the cd to keep copying them...
Anyone know why and what I can do about this?
    Powerbook G4, 15 inch, 1.67 mhz, 2 Gg Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    I have a similar problem.
    Here is my scenario:
I have shared a home folder for users on a Windows 2003 R2 server.
I have mapped users to this folder in my Active Directory accounts by going to the Profile tab for the user, and specifying my Windows host and drive letter Z under the Home Folder connect option (Connect Z: to \\server.domain.com\home\%username%)
This works, and it automounts on my macs that are connected via the Active Directory option in Directory Services.
However, when I create a folder for the first time, or copy files, they just disappear.
They are NOT deleted. The show up on the Windows side and I can see them. When I log out and back in, everything works fine, and as it should be.
Apparently empty directories for SMB shares seem to cause finder/terminal/smb on macs not to see newly created/dragged/moved/copied files/folders.
I've also verified that the permissions are set properly, and that the current user has read/write access. Nothing fixes this until a file/folder ALREADY exists, and you eject & re-connect, or until you re-login.
That's just my scenario, but they sound similar.
Solution: create a file called .empty and put it in the ROOT of the users folders.
That's what I will do. It *****, and I hope Apple fixes this issue. But we all know how responsive they are.
If anyone else has a better solution, or knows why SMB is acting this way, please let the rest of us in on it! Thanks,

  • Paid podcast disappears when refreshing iTunes

I suscribe to the Jim Rome podcast on iTunes 11.5 and started downloading it on a new Windows 8 computer. But whenever I try to refresh iTunes to download my other podcasts, the Jim Rome podcasts disappear from my computer. This is a paid podcast and also this is the only podcast this happens to. I have tried several things to fix this problem, but it keeps recurring.

    This link:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/apm-marketplace-morning-report/id137329814
opens the Store browser page: click 'View in iTunes' then in iTunes 'Subscribe Free' and it should appear under 'Podcasts' - worked OK for me.

  • Error Code -36 When Copying iTunes Music folder to an External Drive

_*"The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "NAME.mp3" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)_"*
This is the error message I get when trying to copy my iTunes music folder to an external drive. I am following Apple's knowledge base article, so yes, I have consolidated my library, have closed iTunes and there is plenty of room on the external drive. For what it's worth, I am also getting this error when trying to do the same thing with my iPhoto library.
Would be grateful for some insight,
With oodles of appreciation in advance,
    Joe

I was getting the same "-36" error while trying to backup to a Lacie firewire external drive.
I had a lot of people telling me to re-format, erase, reinstall, run utility programs ... yada, yada, yada.
First off, test to see if it is the connection type (firewire). I reconnected the offending external drive via USB, restarted the drive and ... BINGO! ... all transfers went perfectly.
Once i knew it was the firewire connection and not the drive itself i simply unplugged my iSight camera (the only other firewire device connected to my machine), reconnected my external drive via firewire and the problem is now corrected.
Firewire buses seem to be very finicky things ... i would suggest eliminating all firewire devices from the machine (except, of course, the external drive you're trying to transfer to) and see if the problem goes away.
Like i said, i simply unplugged my iSight camera and the transfer to my external drive went perfect and my transfer rates went from an average of 4MB/sec to over 19MB/sec.
P.S. BTW - prior to the error and after i corrected the error by unplugging the iSight camera, my internal and external drives all checked out 100% on Disk Utility, Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro.

  • Files disappear when creating a new folder

I'm new to mac....got a macbook this week. I'm in Iraq so I have very limited access to anything. No internet for my mac at the moment...so I can't update even if there are ones. I assume I have the currenct version of everything though. The question...
While switching over my files I decided to reorganize them. I'm working on my external HD and creating many new folders for all my files. On numerous occasions now (4) I have created a new file the standard way...right click>new>file...then named it. On these occasions I have done this it has renamed the previous file I had worked in (even though it was not selected) and then the contents of the file disappeared. This leaves me with the new file I created and another identical file of the same name...now with nothing in it. Some of my files I have backed up, but the last one deleted many videos that I didn't. Happens randomly at no particular time. If I select the file and view its contents often it will briefly change its name back to the original name, but still nothing in it. Then next selection of anything will switch it back. Have not been able to fine the files anywhere. Tired of losing my files. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Hi Craig and Welcome to Apple Discussions....
First of all, thank you for all you are doing. It's so appreciated! Just be safe and come home soon.
Now... I have a feeling your external hard drive is the culprit. Read here:
    Changing the names of items
You can easily change the name of a file, folder, or disk on your computer.
IMPORTANT: To avoid problems using Mac OS X or applications on your computer, don't move or change the names of folders that came with your system (such as the Library folder or your home). You should also not change the names of applications or items associated with specific applications. If you accidentally change the name of an installed item and you experience problems, you can change the name back.
Locate the item you want to rename on your desktop or in a Finder window.
Click the item to select it, then click the name. The name is highlighted and you will be able to edit it.
Type the new name and press Return.
Some document names have a file extension, such as ".txt" or ".jpg." If you change the name of a file and delete the extension, some applications may no longer recognize the file. To ensure the file can be recognized by the application that created it, change only the part of the name that comes before the extension, or open the file using the appropriate application, then save the file with a new name.
You cannot change the name of an item in the Finder window's sidebar. You must locate the item on your desktop or in a Finder window to highlight and change the name.
    And more here:
Getting information about files and folders
You can view and modify information about files, applications, and volumes in the Info window. This information can include:
Comments that Spotlight can search on
Who can view and modify the item.
The applications that can open it.
Metadata that describes a file's contents and how it was created. For example, a photo's Info window may contain the picture's dimensions, exposure time, and the make and model of the camera.
To see information for one or more items, select the items and choose File > Get Info. An Info window opens for each selected item.
To see a summary of information about several items, select the items then hold down the Control key as you choose File > Get Summary Info. A window summarizes information on all selected items, including their total size.
To see information about each item as you select it, select one of the items then hold down the Option key as you choose File > Show Inspector. An Inspector window displays information on the selected item. When you select another item, the Inspector's contents are replaced with information on that item.
I realize that's a lot to digest and your time might be limited. This is something that only takes a few minutes and might help immediately.
Go to MacintoshHD/Applications/Utilities and locae Disk Utility. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left and then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Depending on the size of your drive, it should only take a few minutes. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility from the Menu.
Here's how to find out exactly which Mac OS you are running. Click the Apple logo top left of your screen then click, About This Mac. A pane will open. Just under "Mac OS X" will be the version number. ie., 10.4.x
Reboot your MacBook and see if this helps.... I'm retired and have time... if you need one on one help e-mail me: [email protected]
It's the least I can do

  • Images disappear when copying sheets

    Hello,
In MS Excel 2010 I have a file with some data and images on it. This file's being used to make approximately 150 reports weekly. It has worked fine for quite some time, but all of a sudden problems started to occur today.
When I copy the sheet to another workbook, the data, formulas and formatting are copied properly, but the images seem to disappear (it makes no difference whether it's copied to a new file or a already existing file). This problem
occurs on systems with Win7, Excel 2010 (both 32 and 64 bits). Copying the file manually or with VBA both result in this problem.
The problem seems to be caused by the (security?) updates of today (december 9). On one system the problems occured after the installation of the updates. On another system the file worked properly until the moment the updates were installed (so halfway
the repetition of the proces it suddenly went wrong).
Does anyone know wheter this problem is indeed being caused by the update? Is there a way in wich I can work around this problem en get my images copied with the sheet?

The problem can be solved when using the answers given in the thread with the title "Excel 2010 macros does not work after updates 9.Dec.2014" postetd on

  • Thumbnails disappear when change to any folder

In Photoshop CS2 when I first start Bridge (CS2 1.0.4.6) my thumbnails show up fine for the Desktop. As soon as I change to any folder the thumbnails turn all white. No matter what folder I change to they are all white, and the number of thumbnails stays the same regardless of how many images are in the folder.
When I return to the Desktop folder, all the thumbnails are white. If I close Bridge and reopen, the Desktop thumbnails reappear until I change folders again.

  • My podcasts will no longer sync with my ipod classic. Also when I tried to sync in itunes, the category "podcast" disappeared under my ipod listed in itunes.

My podcasts will no longer sync with my ipod classic. Also when I tried to sync in itunes, the category "podcast" disappeared under my ipod listed in itunes.

Are you sure your iPod Classic is configured to sync podcasts to your device?  You'll want to double check by taking a quick look at your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes when it appears to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Podcasts tab and select it.  Under this tab you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you make any changes, be sure to click theApply button in the lower right hand corner.

  • HT1751 I copied my iTunes folder to an external HD and now I cannot delete it. When I try to move it to the trash it displays The item "iTunes" can't be moved to the Trash because it can't be deleted.

I copied my iTunes folder to an external HD and now I cannot delete it. When I try to move it to the trash it displays: The item “iTunes” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted.

Close iTunes. Click the icon to start it, then press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. Choose the iTunes folder on your external drive. That should bring back all your playlists, ratings, play counts etc. You may have to settle for removing and reloading the media onto the device again. That's not too bad, but what you don't want to have happen is your apps being removed and reloaded as then you can lose settings and data. If that looks likely backup and then restore the device rather than sync it.
If for some reason rebuilding the library the way you did has moved files around then the restored library may have trouble finding things. If so post back and I'll explain what to do...

  • Why do windows source directory files disappear when their folder is added to iTunes?

I just got a new Windows 8 computer and installed iTunes. I then copied all of my music to my new computer from the old one into a similar \data\music directory organized by artist and album.
On the old computer (XP)when I add a folder from \data\music to itunes the source album music files remain inplace.
On the new computer (W8) when I add a folder from \data\music to itunes the source album music files disappear.
However, although the album directory is empty, the "parent MUSIC directory" hasn't changed in size. Is iTunes encrypting the source files? Itunes Help does have anything on this happening.
How do I access my source files if I want to do something with them?
This is scary stuff. Luckily I still have a copy on my old computer.
Any clarification on this would really be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric-B

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
iTunes 11 also adds a Home Videos folder...
Your library is obviously in the newer layout, the designated media folder (red outline) is C:\Data\Music and the option Keep iTunes Media folder organized is enabled, so music goes in C:\Data\Music\Music\<Artist>\<Album> etc.
If you're interested you could probably "normaiize" your library with a few carefully chosen steps...

  • Error when copying files using WebDav web folder

When copying a large group of files/folder to a 10gAS portal page we are randomly seeing the error: "An error occurred while copying some or all of the selected files" in Windows Explorer. Clicking "ok" will resume the file copy process.
The only error I see in the Apache log is:
[Mon Aug  2 18:00:06 2004] [error] OraDAV: Apache/OCI Error -9999/0: ORADAV: LOB was closed with active write operation
Any suggestions? I couldn't find anything on metalink, though i have logged an iTAR as well.

My AirPort Extreme card was replaced on my MacBook by Apple. Prior to this, I was getting odd errors like the one outlined above. I do not receive this issue anymore, and I think I can attribute it to the hardware issue with the card.

  • PS CS6 OS X - "Place" dialog box disappears when I try to drag a folder into it.

We are moving to CS6 at work currently. In our workflow, we need to move from folder to folder (hundreds of them) often, and I do this quickly by dragging the desired folder into the open/save/place dialogs. Doing this immediately takes me to the folder I need without requiring me to navigate there manually.
In CS6, when I need to replace contents of a smart object (which I need to do proably 30 times every day), I right-click on the smart object's name and select "Replace Contents". A "Place" dialog opens and I can drag the folder of the asset I need into the dialog, but the dialog disappears when I click off of Photoshop to drag the folder. This happens in all screen modes.
What can I do here? It is impractical to keep source folders in the left bar of the Place dialog (there are literally hundreds of folders I use).
CS5 let me drag files from the Finder into the open/save/place dialogs. CS6 apparently does not.
    Thanks

    Try this:
    1) Open Photoshop CS6
    2) Open an existing file by double clicking it or opening with dialog)
    3) Select File > Open, and click on the Desktop
The Open dialog does not vanish?
This is Mac only. Never tried it in Windows.
