Podcasts in China

I am unable to access the following podcasts in China. Please advise..
- The Economist
- Knowledge @ Wharton Interviews
- Harvard Business Reviews
- Bloomberg on the Economy
- Tom Keen On Demand Subscription through iAmplify
- NYT's World News

I'm able to see and listen to all of them except the Tom Keen here in the USA. Maybe your government is blocking them. The NYT has an unflattering piece on "Transforming Gulou"....

  • Can't download songs/podcasts,  -69 error message

I bought a song last week from the iTunes Store, and the download failed, saying:
"There was a problem downloading (song). An unknown error occurred (-69).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
Since it first happened I cannot download any podcasts, getting the same (err = -69) error message...
I've emailed apple, followed their tips and still no solution, and the follow up email basically said "chin up, and good luck"...
Can any of you guys help me!?

Can you download anything - like the free single of the week?
    Check your internet settings.
Control Panel – Internet Options – Advanced
Check SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0
Uncheck “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)”
    Click okay
Many computers come pre-installed with Norton software (HP & Dell for example). If you have ever had any Norton/Symantec products on your computer they could still be blocking access to the store.

  • Heading to China...

First of all, I know that the iPad does not have official support yet outside of the US. But here's my main question: If I buy an iPad here, load it up with apps/books/games that I want... when I get overseas in 2 or 3 months, will everything still work? I suspect I won't necessarily be able to get on the wifi and download new apps, but will the current ones I have work? Will I be able to read the ibooks I've already purchased? Will plants vs zombies still run? I could keep asking about each individual feature of the product, but you get the idea.
I haven't bought an iPad yet and am holding off on it because of going to China. I wouldn't want to buy it and then have a brick when I get over there.

Being in a different country with an iPad, an iPhone, or an iPod Touch does not prevent being able to access the content available on the device - such as music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, 3rd party apps, and books.
Unless an app requires an internet connection to work and you don't have internet access at the time, you can use any 3rd party app while in China and while in any other country.

  • Podcast downloading....3259 error again!

I don't know... I've seen this error since May this Year. I was told that if you uninstall your iTunes and install it again it will works well. I tried and that did work. But today I updated my iTunes to 7.7.1 and 3259 appeared again so I uninstalled and installed iTunes but nothing changed. I don't know what to do now. I thought that was the network problem (I live in China) but it is wrong. I neither can download podcast from iTunes Store(severs in US) nor from Chinese podcast(severs in China) via iTunes.
    Help needed. Thanks in advance.

When I first moved to China I was able to download podcasts, but recently since upgrading to the latest version of iTunes I can't download anything. What's wrong?

  • Please help - iTunes podcast curation

    Hi Everyone,
Anyone know how to contact the editorial team at the podcast directory? My podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/popup-chinese-chinese-lessons/id292036117
We teach mandarin from Beijing and are literally the highest-ranked Chinese teaching podcast in the directory (5 stars on 38 reviews of over 900 totally free lessons and podcasts). We've been producing our lessons for 2.5 years now and are routinely ranked the best place to learn Chinese online by foreigners in China. But we still can't be found in the iTunes podcast directory when people look for free Chinese learning materials:
Podcast Directory --> Language Learning (Quick Links) --> Chinese
The problem is that this page seems to be manually curated and isn't being updated. Of the eight podcasts listed, half stopped ages ago or have 15 or fewer lessons. The remainder are pay-to-play or Chinese-only recordings of minimal use (like recordings of someone reading a news article). It is surreal in the sense that our own users are complaining to us about the fact they can't find us here -- but we don't have any control over it!
I don't want this to sound like a rant, because I don't expect the iTunes staff to be familiar enough with Chinese to know what is good and what isn't. But I'm hoping someone has advice on how to get this problem solved. I would love to send the iTunes team some t-shirts and copies of reviews of our stuff. Or maybe just send a short and polite email asking for consideration. But there seems to be no way to do this. Apple support keeps throwing us in loops and no-one knows the right people to contact.
    Can anyone help us?
    Sincerely,
    David Lancashire

  • Can Apple TV Movie/TV Rental/Purchase works within China Internet?

I wonder if I buy an Apple TV and use it within China Internet, I can use it for Movie or TV program rental/purchase? Since the online store may detect the location of my Apple TV and disallow such feature. Or the China Internet blocks access of the unit to the Movie store site.
    If not, any workaround?
Or say if I use an account located in US or Hong Kong, download movies to my Mac computer and sync it to the AppleTV unit and play the movie or TV video from the Apple TV and watch on my TV set?
    Thx,
    Alex

You can take a look at the Chinese iTunes store and see what content is available in China before you buy an ATV. If you want to purchase from the iTunes store of another country you would need a billing address and a credit or debit card from a bank in that country to verify residence.
Otherwise, you can use an ATV to play non-DRM mp4 or m4v files such as podcasts or home-brewed files as well as iTunes compatible Internet radio streams.

  • NBC Podcasts Will Not Download

I just returned from an extended trip during which I did not download any subscribed podcasts for NBC Nightly News, NBC Meet the Press and MSNBC Chris Matthews, or any of several subscribed podcasts. Now, I am not able to download any of these NBC podcasts (bar never goes past zero downloading and then I get a timeout notice), though I am able to continue all other podcasts. Is there any particular problem with the NBC podcasts? I tried reinstalling iTunes but no difference.

This problem was solely because China blocks certain content from dwnloading from iTunes, specicifannly NBC Nightly News and Meet the Press, and obviously Apple does nothing to prevent or acknowledge this. Note there have been no Apple replies to this posting. For reasons the savvy reader will understand, we now have no difficulty accessing this content. I am disappointed in Apple for not acknowledging this issue. Too much money in iPhones and other content. Google 1, Apple 0, in my book.

  • It keeps saying im in Japan or china...

Itunes music store keeps thinking I am in either Japan or China,(I can't tell which one.) when i am in the U.S.A. i have tried itunes support but it keeps saying URL not found. I have tested several times, All podcasts are in Japanse or Chinese i can't get any U.S. songs. I have searched The Fray, Garth Brooks, everything and nothing comes up exept odd results not made by them, if anyone can help me fix this it would be REALLY nice.
NOTE that all of my podcasts i have subscribed to are still in english, and they are all still getting new episodes, and this all started w/ iTunes 7....
      Windows XP Pro

scroll down to the bottom of the front page of your iTunes Store. you'll see a thing in the middle down there with a round version of the Japanese flag on it. click on that and select "United States". are you back in the US Store now?

  • Help!  I'm in China and need parts for my macbook

I am not sure where to turn. I am in China, and really need a mini DV to VGA adapter for my macbook so I can use the projector in my classroom. There is an apple china website but it is only in Chinese, and I really would love a phone number or some contact info so that I can communicate with an apple rep in English here, order the part, and get it delivered to me. I've tried to call the number displayed on the apple China site, but cannot get through (maybe it's non-existent?) Is there anyone that can offer some info or point me in the right direction? please???
    Thanks

  • 2 languages Podcast

For our new podcast “ The Key To China” we wish to do some episodes in English and some other ones in Spanish
We need some suggestion on how to introduce / present  to the listeners !!
One option is to have from our webpage
    www.TheKeyToChina.net  2  podcast,
    means  2 links to subscribe
one link for Spanish and one link for English
    however….  This could confuse listeners!!
    Any ideas and/or suggestions??
    Thanks

Frankly I would do this as two separate podcasts. You have to remember that subscribers get each new episode downloaded automatically, so if you do it as one podcast your English-speaking subscribers won't thank you to have to download 50% of their episodes in Spanish, and vice versa.
Treat each version as a separate podcast with a separate feed, submitted separatey to the store: and a link to each on the web page - I can't see that confusing anyone.

  • Podcast episodes download to wrong folder. How can I move them?

Some of my downloaded podcast episodes seem to be going to incorrect folders.
For example, I subscribe to the Photoshop TV podcast. Some of the downloaded episodes go into the iTunes Music folder>Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder. This seems to me to be the correct path.
But most of the episodes wind up in iTunes Music folder>Unknown Artist>Unknown Album folder, along with many unrelated, non-podcast files.
Now when I search in the Library for<Photoshop> all the Photoshop TV files appear, along with other files referencing Photoshop. But when I search the Library using <Photoshop TV> as the search term, only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album folder show up, but not the ones in the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder.
And finally when I cllick on Podcasts in the Source pane, once again only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album show up.
I've tried adding those Photoshop TV files back to the library but they remain in the Unknown Album folder.
I haven't tried rebuilding the library yet. I will, but it seems that wont actually move any files. I could also recreating a new library moving my iTunes music folder out of the iTunes folder and then adding them all back. That seems like overkill and I might very well end up with the same problem. (I'm not sure how many of my other Podcast subscriptions have this problem, but not many)
    So,
    1) how can I get these Photoshop TV files into the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder, and
    2) how can I make this the folder that shows up when I search via the Podcast source, and
    3) what causes this problem?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    what is WP files?
You want to always use iPhoto with a default referenced library (the preference to copy imported item to the iPhoto library is checked) ad then delete the source photos

  • Podcast client downloads to wrong memory

  • Podcasts downloaded to "wrong" folder, then ITunes can't find it anymore

    Hi
When I subscribe to a podcast or download the newest podcast, it will be saved not to the folder of itunesmusic/podcasts/name of podcast, but to /itunesmusic/downloads/podcasts/name of podcast, apparently as tmp-folder. Synchronising just then with my IPOD works, but when I exit ITunes and restart it, the podcast is not found anymore and I get the exclamation mark. When I search for it I can't find the podcast then anymore.
I have ITunes 7.0.2.16 and running Windows XP.
Any one has an idea how to solve this?
Also is there a way to downgrade ITunes to version 6 or so? Because there it worked without problems.
    Appreciate any feedback.

Too my a bit to work out *** was going on, but it was driving me insane with podcasts vanishing on me.
To clarify, this is a full description of the issue:
I have a problem with iTunes losing podcasts. They'd download, seem to play, but when I exited and reloaded iTunes a load of them would be lost and give me the exclamation icon. I've managed to work out why iTunes is losing my podcasts, but have no idea how to fix it.
I've got a folder specified which I want iTunes to use to store my stuff in (E:\Media\itunes).
When I subscribe to a new podcast it downloads to a file called E:\Media\itunes\Downloads\Podcasts\File on 4_ Phone tap evidence - 21 N.tmp\download.mp3 and creates a folder called E:\Media\itunes\Podcasts\File on
I think it's supposed to save it to the first location and then copy it across to the second folder when it's finished. Except it doesn't. iTunes can run the podcast now, but from the temp folder.
When you restart itunes, it nukes everything in the E:\Media\itunes\Downloads\Podcasts folder - I assume as it thinks I have no downloads outstanding and anything in here is just junk.
Apart from manually copying, renaming and point itunes to this file - how do I get around this problem. It's only started since I went to iTunes7 and a complete uninstall/registry/config cleanse followed by a reinstall doesn't fix the problem.

  • ITunes says updating files on my iPod, but podcasts do not show up.

I have an iPod Classic 80g. It is set to manually manage files and disk use is enabled. Recently I had to reformat my PC and reinstall the OS and other programs. Prior to this I was able to click and drag the video podcast I subscribe to directly to my iPod. Now, after the reformat, when I drag the new podcasts to my iPod, iTunes says its updating files my files, but when its finished there are no files added to my iPod. When I try to add it again, it no longer says it's updating, but still nothing happens. I have checked in all available folders incase it was adding to the wrong place, but it is nowhere to be found except fot being temporarily in the recently added folded. All other media types like movies and music import without a problem to my iPod.
    Please help.

I found this answer on http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/index.php/t-197870.html
I tried it and it worked. I am not tech savy, but I am in the process of downloading all of the other shows this way. Once I entered in the url in the "sync podcasts", it then allowed me to place all of the newly downloaded podcasts under podcasts. I played around for a while, so not sure I can walk you through it, but it will work.
Once I had synced the podcast, I went into podcast, dbl clicked on the original subscribed podcast show, that brought up the other shows and I downloaded them, one by one. Am trying a mass download, but cannot seem to do that.
    Hope this helps.

Yeah, you have to subscribe to a podcast and select "Sync podcasts" for it to show up under "Podcasts" on the iPod. Even podcasts downloaded through iTunes won't show up here if you don't subscribe/sync but just put them in a playlist.

  • Issue with Podcast ap?

    Hi,
I already posted in the podcast production community and got a response stating that my podcast feed is NOT the issue, and that it must be an IOS or ap issue.  so here we go.
I recently took over podcast duties for our podcast.  And around a month before I took over (mid-march)  I began recieving complaints that the podcast wasn't updating to subscribers.  It seems to be mostly from people using the IOS podcast ap.  I am using it myself, and I can search for the podcast and find it, but as a subscriber the podcast will not update automatcially, or aknowledge that a new podcast has been uploaded.  I am aware that it can take a few days to update from my feed, but it still should alert subscribers when a new podcast is uploaded.
With that said, the podcasts are being updated at the store, the podcast ap is not updating on several subscriber's iphones unless they search for it, which defeats the purpose of being a subscriber.
    Any thoughs?
