Podcasts in Itunes appear under Music Genre Podcasts

Does anyone know how to get podcasts downloaded/subscribed to using iTunes to appear on their iPod under PODCASTS instead of appearing under Music > Genre > Podcasts ?
Thanks
Andy

They should appear in both places. Do you have a "Podcasts" entry under "Music" on the iPod? If not, make sure your synching options include Podcast updating in iTunes ("iPod Options" while the iPod is visible to iTunes).

  • I purchased a ringtone from Itunes FROM my iphone. The purchase appears under "Music" on my phone but how do I set it as my ringtone?

I purchased a ringtone FROM my iphone. The purshcase appears in "Music" on my phone; but how do I set it as a Ringtone?

grrrr...if anybody has figured this out, I'd love to hear what you did. I have the same problem. I can't set a ringtone that has downloaded to my music library as a ringtone. Is this a secret? I've read everything I can in the manual. The only thing I saw was ringtones are located in your music library.

  • Music Video artists appearing under Music on iPod

I have music videos on my iPod that display just fine, and they sort just fine, but the artists that are attributed with the videos are appearing under the Music > Artists section. This is either causing duplicate entries that lead to the same list of albums, or an entry without any albums.
    What's going on?

It's normal. Because that video file is also an audio file, it shows up under songs, artists, etc., just as any music file would. (And the entries aren't "duplicates," if I'm understanding you correctly. The file is only on your iPod once, it's just accessible from several different menus.) If you want to express to Apple your displeasure with this feature in iTunes, Google Apple feedback iTunes and send them feedback through the form.

  • Accessing Itunes Store and music genres is slow on 8.1.1

Prior to 8.1.1, accessing anything on iTunes was seamless and fast. Now accessing the store and the music genres is slow. It's like the iMac hangs up right before opening the store or any of its genres. My library opens flawlessly and, once the store is open, exploring new music from different artists is fast. It's just getting there that has become slow. Is this an Apple issue or my computer? I've run all sorts of fixes to no avail. I've also noticed that accessing Apple websites is not as fast as it used to be either. What gives?

I have the same problem! Itunes works fine on my old computer that is much slower, but since the upgrade to 8.1.1, the store freezes just before loading! It's the most frustrating thing to have a brand new, fast Mac computer and to not be able to access iTunes quickly. Does anybody have any fixes? I tried turning Genius off but it had no effect. Thanks.

  • Podcast archive only appearing under music

Radio 4's In Our Time have recently made their whole archive available to download. I've been subscribing to the podcast for some years. However, when I import the new, archived In Our Time programmes they're separated as podcasts under genre in Music but not

Un-install Version 7, re-boot the computer and then install Version 6. Your library will be untouched but you may have to steer Version 6 to find your library again.

  • Music and sounds folders not appearing under "music and sounds" tab for approx 5 min after launch

So every time I launch fcpx, under the "music and sounds" tab, all that is appearing is my iTunes folder, with the other folders (iLife sounds, FCP sound effects, etc) not appearing for about 5 min or so...anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix?

Nothing ever shows up under the "Music and Sounds" tab for me. I can wait an hour and nothing "appears." The dropdown menu is blank and can never be used to select anything: It remains blank.
I've deleted preferences, rebooted, logged-in as a different user and reinstalled the application. None of that has made the "Music and Sound" section work.
If I drag a folder to the top area (after pulling down the gray bar) the icon changes to show a green plus sign and the top area is outlined with green. After dropping the folder nothing happens; it does not appear in the list. I've tried several different folders from iTunes and other locations, all to no avail.

  • Homeshare not appearing under Music/Film/TV

I have recently purchased a new Windows 8,1 laptop PC which is in addition to an existing Windows 7 desktop PC which runs Itunes.
I attempted to set up a Homeshare arrangement for the Itunes library. This worked brilliantly and i was able to play music on Itunes in the new laptop. I then shutdown the laptop as I needed to go out, The bad news started on my return.
When I switched on the laptop and went into Itunes, it started upoading when i went into Homeshare so i thought good grief I am going to have to wait for the entire library being downloaded every time I open the laptop. Then I reconciled myself to that and looked on the positive side that at least I would have an itunes library once it completed,
Then came the really bad news. When i came back to the laptop and clicked on the Music/Film etc arrow, there was no sign of Homeshare, just Music, Film and TV. I checked in File/Homesharing that homesharing was still on and it was. I tried switching it off then switching it back on but still no sign of Homeshare,
Can you suggest any solution to this problem

I perhaps should have mentioned that the Itunes library and other data being homeshared are definitely available on the laptop and can be clearly seen in file explorer,
What may contribute to the problem is that my existing Itunes library is held on the F drive because the C drive is SSD and is mainly reserved for software. This probably has absolutely nothing to do with the problem but i thought i would mention it anyway
How does Itunes decide whereabouts on the Homeshare folder it's going to look for the Itunes library?

  • Apple TV 2 shows Playlisted Radio Station Genres under Music.

It's more annoying than anything else, but Apple TV and Apple Remote show Radio Station Genres while browsing Music Genres on my PC library. Naturally, when you select that Genre the either device reports 'No Songs' in the libray.
In order to remember three Internet Radio Stations, I dragged them into a Playlist titled Radio Stations on my PC library. As a result, those 'odd' Genres now show up under Music as described above when using Apple TV to access my library or using Apple Remote on my iPhone to access my library.
I guess the only way to stop seeing those Radio Station Genres is to delete the Radio Station Playlist, but then that sort of defeats the purpose of using that function for when I'm sitting in front of my PC.
Am I missing a simple solution?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Gino.
I was thinking that would be the case.
It is odd, however, that when I use Apple Remote to control the Apple TV and use 'Computers' to access my PC library rather than swipe 'Control' (or the Apple TV remote itself), the Music Genres show up correctly; as in without displaying the Radio Station Genres!
It's when I control my PC library directly with Apple Remote or access my PC library with Apple TV that the Radio Station Genres appear under Music.
It does seem a bit inconsistent and a not intuitive.
    Oh, well. Thought I'd ask!

  • Most of my audiobooks don't appear under audiobooks in genre view

I have ten or so audiobooks in iTunes but for some reason only three of them appear under the genre of Audiobooks in the genre view. I have made sure that all the tracks on all the books are marked with audiobooks in the genre category but this does not seem to make any difference.

There are a number of things that determine whether something appears as an audiobook in my experience. First, Apple only will accept audiobooks in the Audible format (.aa) or the Protected AAC (.m4b). Assuming that your file is the Protected AAC, it could have the wrong file extension. Try changing the file extension on one of your audiobooks to .m4b from .m4a (You may have to play a few seconds of it once you have changed it to get it to work).
If that works, you can try one of Doug's Scripts (www.dougscripts.com) for iTunes called Make Bookmarkable (sic?) which can make the task much easier.
Oh, and if you are running iTunes 8? This is even simpler. Import the audiobook, Get Info on it, go to the Options Tab, and on Media Type change it to Audiobook.
The other problem is perhaps you are importing them incorrectly. Here is a good resource for making audiobooks from either CD Audiobooks (http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/importing-audio-cds/) or MP3 CD Audiobooks (http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/importing-mp3-cds/)

  • ITunes not displaying music, etc since adding new library

I have had my iPhone library on my laptop for some time, and could always see my list of songs in the Music folder on iTunes, list of moveis, apps, podcasts, etc. Well, we gave our son an iPod Touch for Christmas, and I created a new libary for him on the laptop, following the instructions on Apple's website, intending to hold the "Shift" key down when syncing either device to get the proper library.
However, as above, I can't even see my stuff anymore. The screen shows the folders on the left side, but the centre of the screen(where I would expect to see the list)just shows a kind of "introductory" message, for example: "Music. Songs and music videos you add to iTunes appear in Music in your iTunes library. To play a song, just double-click it." Then it gives a couple of options to either watch a tutorial on downloading music, shopping for music in the iTunes store, or watching a tutorial on importing a CD. As an experiment, I tried to add a new song, from the Music folder on my laptop. Afterwards the Music folder shows that one song. It still syncs, and when I check my phone, all of my songs are still there (I was worried they'd be gone).
I am tired of this two library business, it's a hassle and my son never really syncs his iPod anyhow. What I would like to do is get things back the way they were before (one library - mine). I have been googling this all morning and trying various things, to no avail.
If anyone could help me, I sure would appreciate it
    Amanda

Software updates to my OS seemed to have done the trick.

  • ITunes - iTunes U podcasts insist on appearing in music library

    Hi,
I hope this is roughly speaking the right place to ask this.
As the subject says I have downloaded a lot of podcasts from iTunes U and rather than being in the podcast library they have appeared inthe music library.
Downloading via my iPod touch they appear as regular podcasts so the issue is in iTunes.
Is there a way of forcing these podcasts be act like proper podcasts.
I don't mind too much if I have to hack a script together, but I would prefer something involving less effort.
    Thx,
    Rob...
    Examples are:
    iTunes U -> Stanford -> Science & Technology -> Mathmatics & Computer Science
iTunes U -> Little Kids Rock -> Guitar Lessons - Videos

    glun wrote:
After downloaded a number of podcasts from iTunes U, they appear in the music library of my computer (but yes too it's better if they go under podcasts...)
but I can't find them in the library or anywhere in my iPod.
All my iTunes U downloads happen to be videos (perhaps they all are - I'm not a frequent user) and I found them under *Video Playlists.* From the *Main Menu,* look under *Videos/Video Playlists,* but do not look under Movies, they are not there!
Note that if Videos is not already shown on your Main Menu, you can select it to show up by going to *(from Main Menu)/Settings/Main Menu.*
By the way - the iTunes U videos cannot be found with the Search facility on my 160GB iPod Calssic. Bit odd really!

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

  • Podcast vids appearing in music list

after transfering some podcast videos to my ipod i noticed that the videos appear in my artists list. under the 'video kind' in options they are set to 'movie'. so why are they appearing there? i've had to set 'artist' and 'album' to null values to get them out of there, but now all the podcast videos are mixed together in itunes. is there an easier way get them out of there that i may be missing?

If your iPod's software is uptdate and at 1.1.1, video podcasts should not be showing up in artists (Regular podcasts' artists still may).
Make sure everything is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
Now on your iPod go to settings-->about. What is the software version?
Do the podcasts stop showing up under Music-->artists (the video podcasts).

  • Why do podcasts I add appear in music library but not in podcasts ?

I personally find iTunes to be deeply counter-intuitive and confusing, so this maybe a simple user error. I'm adding podcasts from a hard disk. They were downloaded some time ago, under linux, from BBC Radio using the 'getiplayer' app. They exist as mp3 files on my harddisk, within a 'My Music' folder (my mistake).
When I add music files to iTunes from 'My Music' the podcasts are addded to the music library. When I delete them from that library, sending the files to trash, then add them from the original source to the Podcasts library, they appear back in the Music library but are not listed under Podcasts
    What am I doing wrong?

There have always, well for the past few years, written installers that just create a mess.  All installed applications should appear in Finder, Applications.  Not all of those will appear in Launchpad.  When you encounter one that does not appear in the correct way, all you can do is manually move things around so it is consistent with the way apps should work.
