Podcasts in the song menu

What can i do so that the podcasts arent shown in the "songs" menu? it is very annoying since i have a lot of podcasts

I figured out the best way to solve this problem. Instead of listening to your music through the Apple invented Song menu, create a Live playlist with the name "All." Edit the setting so that the "genre" "does not contain" then put "podcast." That will take care of the podcasts. Check the box beside match and set match to "any." Deselect the limit button and the match only checked items, if desired. Check the live updating button. That should solve your problems, and I don't even get paid to help...

Podcasts in the song list

Ipod can distinguish between podcasts and songs but seems to list them together under the 'Songs' menu selection. Is there a way to exclude podcasts from the Songs list without creating playlists?

More specific info on the problem - when I browse my "Artists" or "Albums" categories within Music, all of my podcasts and audiobooks are listed along with my music. IMHO - these menu categories are specific to music, and as I have a lot of podcasts and audiobooks loaded on my ipod, this makes it difficult to browse my music (and I have loaded all of my podcasts and audiobooks through iTunes).
What I would like to see for the menu organization is:
- top level menu has major categories for types of data loaded on your ipod + maintenance options, e.g.:
o Music (contains only music)
o Podcasts
o Audiobooks
o Movies
o Settings
o Extras
- within each category, only items related to that category are listed and there is no overlap
- the only slight exception to this rule is for video podcasts, and IMHO these should be stored in podcasts (since they are not movies). Also - when you play a video podcast, it should always play in a video mode. Right now, if you play a video podcast from the main Podcast menu it plays only the audio, not showing the video.
Bottom line - I only want one way to navigate to a specific item - reduces confusion and simplifies the interface.

My ipod touch 4g, when i pick a song my music from itunes it wont play it will just skip through almost all my songs for just one then go back to the song menu and so how do i fix this problem

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

I can't figure out how to get my music to shuffle on my iPhone 5s. If I try to skip a song, it skips about 100 songs. It only ends up playing 4 or 5 songs then goes back to the song menu. Help please!

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

My itunes library has everything by artist name, yet when i sync my ipod to it, some songs are only visible in the song menu but not the artist menu, how do i fix this problem so that evry song is visible under the artist menu in my ipod

I bought an ipod classic and got it 2day. I have over 18000 songs on my itunes and all the songs have all the correct info. I tried syncing my ipod today and all of the songs have gone onto my ipod.
However my problem is that quite a few songs are not in the artist menu and only in the songs menu on the ipod, even though evry bit of information for the song is correct.
I would like all my songs under the artist menu on my ipod as searching through the song menu is ridiculously time consuming.
Can anyone fix my problem?

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

HT4623 how do you remove podcasts from the iPhone menu?

I subscribed to a podcast on the iPhone, (from the iPhone itself) but now can't seem to remove it. Any ideas? There doesn't seem to be a way
to unsubscribe from the podcasts on the iPhone or from iTunes.
I have all the latest software.

Thanks - but there are no episodes of the podcast itself. It is the tile from the store that is clogging up space. The podcasts themselves can be deleted - that's easy - but the subscription tile cannot - even though I am not subscribed anymore.
The podcasts are not on my syncing computer's iTunes either, so can't be removed that way either.

Podcasts in the Song library

I have the 60 gig Ipod and my Podcasts are not only showing up in my podcasts folder but also in my songs folder on my Ipod. Has anyone else had the problem and how do you fix it?

Okay.
In iTunes 5, when you click on library, you have some 'radio' buttons across the top, just above the column titles . . . they are: All, Music, Audiobooks, Podcasts, Videos, Booklets . . .
When "All" is selected, you get it all. What you need to do is select "Music" and you'll see JUST your music. IMHO, it's much easier to see what you want with this method of keeping the library.

Artists not appearing on iPod menu when the songs are definitely there?!

I have some artists on my iPod that don't appear on the main menu.
Here is an example. Big Star are on the iPod and I can find their songs through the Songs menu but they don't appear at all as an Artist. I have checked that it is spelled correctly etc.
There are other examples, I assume it is something I have done wrong with the settings.
Anyone got any ideas?

I've worked it out. Some of the albums are incorrectly listed as compilations and that edits them out of the main artist menu.
Just in case anyone else has the same problem.

Songs don't appear under their artist in the 'artists' menu.

I've updated my Ipod to find that when I go into the 'artists' menu to look for my songs they are not all there, some are missing, even though they all defnitley have artist names attached to them in Itunes. I can get to them through the 'songs' menu and 'album' menu, but they do not appear under their artists.
e.g
I added the 'Blink 182' self titled album and the only songs that appear under the artist 'Blink 182' are 'The Fallen Interlude' and 'Asthenia'. The other songs on the album did not appear. However I can access the other songs seperately through the 'songs' menu and also through the 'album' menu.
But Its really frustrating not being able just to go into 'artists' menu and access all my songs from that artist like I used to be able to do.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

How to play only one episode of a podcast on the iPod Classic 120GB?

With my previous iPod-- the 60GB iPod Photo-- I could play only one episode of a podcast. I would scroll to "Podcasts" on the main menu, find the name of the podcast I wanted to hear, click on an episode and only that one would play. If I wanted to listen to all the episodes of that particular podcast, I'd access it through the Playlist feature.
The system above for playing a single episode doesn't seem to work on the iPod Classic 120 GB. All the episodes play no matter how I access the podcast.
What am I overlooking?

Probably not! My 30GB video iPod will only play one Podcast episode at a time and this does not change by using shuffle. I think your 60Gb iPod was the same as the 30GB.
As S_Edwards has posted and as you have found, the Classic does use shuffle to alter the way Podcasts are played. Quite why Apple use shuffle to control single or continuous playing of Podcasts, and then not document it either, is a mystery.
As a useful reminder, while the Podcast is playing, the screen display will show 1 of 1 to denote single-episode mode or 1 of x to denote continuous-episode mode.

Can't play iPhone songs/podcasts in the car via iPod Menu?

I have an iPhone 5 iOS version 8.1. The iPod menu in the car (2009/'10 Altima) recognizes my iPhone and displays the songs and podcasts well. But when i click on a file i want to play, it cant play it and i have to do it manually from my iPhone. This is frustrating. This problem happened since i updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1. It was all good in iOS 8.0.2. I hope Apple notices this problem and includes the fix in the next update. Am i the only one who has this problem?

I just bought Apple Tv. Everything is hooked up and home sharing is turned on (imac, ipad, apple tv). When i play my itunes through my tv the song will play for apprx. 45 to 60 seconds and then cuts off and goes back to the main menu.

I want to subscribe to something not on podcasts shop, but I need to enter the URL. I already know the URL but I can't find the location of the file menu. I want to know the location of the file menu for he IPAD, not Mac. And I don't have a Mac laptop. Can anyone help?
