Podcasts Ipod Classic 80G

Hello Folks,
I am new to this forum, having just purchased a new Ipod Classic 80G yesterday. I tried so far to sync some golf lesson podcasts that I had subscribed to in Itunes, and they did sync with my Ipod, but are all in a single file, not in single lessons that I can access one at a time. I tried to create my own playlist of all of the in a list and sync'd that but they show up as music and will only play the sound on them. Can someone help me to get them on my Ipod in selectable order so I can play each one separately, with the video and sound?
Many thanks,
Jim

I discovered after working with my unit more, I had the lessons on it just the way I wanted them to be.

  • Will apple repair my ipod classic 80g with video?

I got my ipod classic 80g in 2006.  I used it for a couple years and was very satisfied.  It was in a backpack that was tossed carelessly, and then stopped working.  The screen does not display anything except for some black lines.  The physical casing is not broken however.  When I plug it into a computer, I can hear the harddrive spinning, but itunes won't recognize it, and it won't show up as a device on my computer.  I have waited so long to inquire about a repair because I have replaced it a couple of times with other ipods.  I would really like to have this one repaired as I don't have an ipod curretently. And, instead of buying a new ipod classic, I would like to have this one repaired.  I read that it would cost $129 to repair this ipod.
I would like to know however, if I spend $129 will apple repair my ipod for sure?  If it is deemed unrepairable, will I get a replacement?  Or will they refund my money?
Thanks for reading and giving your time.
    -Madison Albert

Apple doesn't actually repair iPod, but does an out of warranty exchange of it for a refurbished model of the same generation and capacity.
And it will cost $129 according to this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&viewlocale=en_US&geo=United_St ates&product=ipod&select=REPAIR_PRICING

  • Loading cd collection onto ipod classic 80g

ihave 700cds to load onto ipod classic 80G via itunes but my computer only has room for approx250.Can i delete those 250 from my itunes folder and start again?how do i load them all?

To load them all you would have to buy an external hard drive to move some other things over from your computer or just have the music files on the hard drive. If you can only have 250 of them then here is what to try.
Import the first 250, then have the ipod on manually manage music etc... Drag and drop all the 250 CDs content to the iPod.
After done copying delete the files for the first 250 and then put the next set on and repeat copying them to the ipod, repeat this until all 700 CDs are on iPod.

  • Can iPod Classic 80G use coverflow view?

I bought a used iPod Classic 80G, and I restored it to its original settings, and i have the latest softwere version, wich is 1.3. I have basicaly 2 questions:
    1) When i'm using my iPod can i search my musics with coverflow view? I know that the new ones can, so i would like to know too if apple intends to distribute the new softwere for iPod classics that would include feutures like genius playlist and coverflow view.
    2) I got used to coverflow on my iTunes library, but i can't use it when i'm looking at my musics on the iPod in the computer. I can't even view as grid, and i'm stuck with view as list. The question is, am i really stucked as view or is there a way to view it sorted by albuns?
    Tanks for the help

It's not a "Classic" - the latest firmware for the 80/16Gb iPod Classic (i.e. 6th gen.) is v 1.1.2. You have a 5th generation iPod. Menu options are what you've already seen. There are no prospects for Cover Flow or any other graphically enhanced menus on your iPod.

  • IPod Classic 80G wont take movie rentals ???

Just downloaded three rental movies ok to my PC. They ar ein my library ok now but Classic 80g iPod did not synch them nor could i manually drop them anywhere. Any ideas ??? It claims lates revsw of iTunes and firmware. Everythung else synchs fine but this is my first rental movie try.

The 5th gen iPod "classic" was the first "video" iPod.  It's video capability is more limited, and supported video resolution is lower, typically only 320x240.  Even if the video is standard def (SD), and not HD, it is probably at least 640x480.
Also, current iTunes Store video content (such as TV shows and movies) uses DRM (copy protection).  The 5th gen iPod was designed before the iTunes Store started selling video content (as it does now); I don't think it supports the DRM technology.
If you have video content that is not DRM'd and plays in iTunes (such as video podcasts), you may be able to use the convert command in iTunes.  Select the item on a list in iTunes.  From the iTunes menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version may play on your iPod, so iTunes will sync it.

  • My ipod classic 80G is displaying the error message "this accessory is not supported" when placed on my Altec Lansing dock

Ipod is 80G Classic and displaying no other unusal or faulty behaviour. In the couple of days between the dock working fine and the error message appearing, there were no software updates. The ipod is actually a couple of years older than the dock- what's going on?

So the iPod worked previously on this particular dock? Does Altec's support website state that it supports your particular model iPod Classic?
Have you tried a hard reset of the device with it still connected to the dock?  To do this, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also check the dock connector on the iPod for any signs of debrisa and bent or corroded pins that could be blocking the connection between the dock and iPod.

  • Windows 7 and iTunes doens't recognise iPod Classic 80g after wipe clean hard drive and format fat32.

My iPod Classic 80gb every now-and-then goes funny, and eventually iTunes doesn't recognise it. In the past I could put it on disk mode, and do a reset, but some times I would have to format (FAT32), uninstall and reinstall iTunes, so it would work. Now it happened again, this time wiped clean the hard drive and formatted. However windows 7 and iTunes still doesn't recognise it. Tried many tips online but nothing works. All software I have used don't see the hard drive, so can't format it again.
I can get it on disk mode but even then windows and iTunes don't recognise it. When connecting to laptop my machine goes boiling hot. Left it connected with iTunes on for  few hours but still no luck.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello @turingtest2.
Following your threat I realized it was time to have my hard drive changed. My iPod classic has a Samsung Model: HS081HA, 80gb/3600 rpm (real hard to get it open and check out!!!).
My question is if I DO HAVE to buy exactly the same hard drive, or I could get away with another manufacturer and model, such as Toshiba (80 GB MK8009GAH FOR iPod Video 5th 5.5th iPod Classic 6.5th 7th Gen Hard Drive - Ebay listing)?
I ask you that as these Toshiba hard drives are considerably cheaper.
    Help much appreciated.

  • Background Cover Flow Ipod Classic 80G

    Hello,
I've got a question about de background of the Cover Flow on my Black Ipod Classic 80 G. Now i see the covers on a white background. On promotion stuff of Apple is see a black backround and that's much better
Does anyone know if I can change the colour of the Cover FLow background?
    Thanks!

The Cover Flow background is black in iTunes, on iPod touch and on iPhone, but white on iPod classic. There is no setting that would allow changing the background color.

  • Ipod Classic 80g and Pioneer CD-IB100 II adapter....

Ever since I updated my ipod with the f/w 1.1, i've been unable to access my ipod manually when it's connected to my head unit. It just goes into an auto lock. Is there anyway to override this? I know there was a way to do it when the f/w was 1.03. It's just such a pain to search for my music through the head unit when so little is being shown to me. I liked how I could search for music directly through the ipod. Is there any suggestions? Anyway I can downgrade back to 1.03? Someone posted something, but it was a downgrade for the Mac, and that's sort of useless to me considering I'm using a gateway pc. Thanks guys!!!
    -Jason

I am having the same issue with my 6th gen 80Gb ipod classic and my pioneer head unit. I am using the cd-ib100ii. I have seen ways around the head unit control for the 5th gen but not this one. Pioneer is not offering any help. Anyone have any ideas. I can't return the cd-ib100ii and I don't want to see it go to waste.

  • Ipod Classic (80g) Videos not synching properly!

Ok so my ipod works great except when you try and have videos on it. I have all the converters and stuff and sometimes it works fine and they go on and are all there. However... Sometimes the videos cut off after a minute or so when i play them on my ipod. I thought it might be a converter issue but they play all way trough in itunes, so it's something to do wiht the synch process I'm guessing.
    any ideas?

This is how to sync videos
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304680
This is to make sure all of the video types are working on your ipod.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75424
Download each one of those videos and try to use the top article to sync them to your ipod.
If all of the videos work... its probably a problem with your converter.
make sure you are updating your ipod. Apple just released a new software version for classics when itunes 7.6 came out.
Also, restoring your ipod to factory settings by hitting that restore button in your summary screen may help wash out any glitches your ipod may have on it if the above info doesnt help you.

  • IPod classic 80G doesn't show on iTunes

My iPod is not even a year old.
I haven't been using my iPod for a while now (maybe for two weeks now), because I didn't have money to buy new earplugs. Before my earplugs were broken, I could see my iPod on iTunes, but now, I don't. I thought it was because the iTunes needed to be updated, and I did it, it still didn't show on iTunes. I don't know, it doesn't show on My Computer either. It used to.
I did the 5 R's, I did everything else also, what apple had in their troubleshoot. Ipod is loading and charging when I connected it to any USB port. so they are working. Ipod is working also well. I have no idea, is it that my computer is faulty, or my iPod is faulty. So Im asking, please, help me

If no luck, do you have a warranty on the unit from Apple? If so, I would set up a service request. Otherwise, it may be a good idea to send it to an iPod repair center for a diagnostics test. There are several places out there that can make this happen. Just do a simple google search for "ipod repair parts" and you should receive several sites that can assist you.
