Podcasts keep synching even when podcasts aren't selected to sync

I have podcasts in my iTunes that I have checked, so I can listen to them on my iPhone, BUT they keep synching with my 80gig iPod even though I have unchecked "sync podcasts" in the tabs when my iPod syncs.
I restored my iPod and it keeps happening. I'm guessing that somehow these podcasts are in one of my nearly 100 playlists. However, shouldn't unchecking "sync podcasts" override them from being synched even if they are in a playlist? It used to until the last two iTunes updates.

Er...it says the question is answered, but there's only one post in the thread...

Anyhow, I'm having precisely the same problem - 80Gb iPod and 8Gb iPhone 3g.
My podcasts keep syncing to my iPod, even though I've unchecked sync podcasts. (I've currently got 'sync all unplayed episodes', but I've still got the same problem of getting everything on the iPod.)

Hi junebeez,
Have you gone into Settings and turned off the Sync Courses and Notes option? If not, try doing this:
Go to Settings>iTunes U>Sync Courses and Notes, and see if it is = On. If it is, turn it Off and see if that fixes the problem.

If the phone is offline there is no way to track it or send a message to it. You can place it in lost mode to lock it and send it a message (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f0165), but this will not take place until the phone goes back online, if it ever does. If it does, you will get an email informing you.

Your download or install of the update may have been corrupt. Visit the Mac App Store and re-download the update or visit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726 and download the 10.9.2 update combo and re-install.

Cookies keep coming even when not supposed to

I have been reading about evil Google bypassing Safari cookie settings, but it isn't just Google that seems to be finding a way in.
I have set prefs only to accept from places I visit not from 3rd parties or advertisers, yet I just went to a site and came away with cookies from google, google analytics and NINE apparent advertisers on the site's page.
Now, every time I use the browser, I finish the session and delete a lot of cookies. I do not have the option of choosing to block all cookies as many sites I visit regularly require a cookie for the site to function such as banks, financial sites, StatCounter, web mail, and others - even Apple wants cookies. I have even tested by turning on block all along with private browsing and still will often get google crap cookies.
The situation doesn't seem to be as prevalent on the iPad, though I now have 12 cookies from phobos.apple.com which just recently seemed to be appearing and multiplying.
i don't even use google, but use Yahoo for searches, yet I am removing google cookies multiple times in a day and getting really sick of those information theives planting their cookies on me!!!!! I just checked while posting this item and found I got a Google cookie after arriving on this forum and it had been cleared out immediately before I logged into the Apple forum.
We need a way to flag cookies as junk (like in Mail) to block specific cookies from invading our privacy such as "We do no evil" Google.

Error in Safari Privacy Settings Description. I've been trying to figure out why deleted cookies keep populating all night. I've tried everything from resetting safari completely to deleting certain folders. The prompt asks "Block cookies?" and I had tried setting both from third parties and "always" then removing and they keep repopulating even without browsing. in fact, all i needed was to switch tabs on the privacy window and a lot of cookies would be back by the time I switch back. This morning after seeing this page, I tried the "Never"(block cookies) option and the only thing it repopulates is a cookie"apple.com". The problem is with the "always" setting, websites like facebook and google think I'm blocking cookies when it really is allowing everything. Please review your code and iron out this section. Then hire me.
In summary,
Always block cookies> deleted cookies comeback after a couple of seconds> facebook and google think you're blocking cookies and won't allow you in.
Never block cookies > only apple.com repopulates > allows facebook, but added a facebook cookie after i visited the site(didn't try google) (minutes later akamai cookie)
Block cookies from third parties and advertisers > deleted cookies come back after a couple of seconds >allows facebook and google, but not sure if it's blocking or allowing third parties
oh and as soon as you click on a radio button other than never, the cookie list gets full again.

Cf card keeps remounting even when empty

I use a compact flash card reader to upload my photos. Lately my cf card keeps remounting after an eject even though it is empty (I auto-delete after upload). I could spend all day ejecting the card from the finder and then watching it immediately remount. I have to yank the card out of the reader quickly after an eject or I get a nastygram window. Not sure if this is an incompatibility between the latest Tiger and my card reader or what but it's annoying.

I purchased a new cf card reader (PNY) and it doesn't have this problem. So apparently macs are a bit fussy when it comes to card reader compatibility.

"Insufficient Space" When ripping/synching even when drive is virtually em

Just started experiencing something very odd, I have an 80GB external harddri've that I've used to backup my music files, and suddenly I can't rip anything, or copy or transfer anything from my Zen Touch to it through MediaSource 5, despite having some 45GB free. Keeps giving me "insufficient space" error. I've tried formatting it and starting from scratch, no luck. I've tried over and over, I've even tried removing and reloading MediaSource 5, no luck. Sometimes it copies about 0% of what's on my Zen Touch, other times about 80%, but always results in the same situation, saying insufficient space when there's plenty (well over /2 the dri've left free). Any ideas

Formatting seemed to work, disk check worked, defrag worked, I was assuming maybe it had something to do with the player (which seems to work fine) or the MediaSource 5 application.
But you think it's the harddrive, huh? Maybe I'll play around with it some more, see if I can do anything else on it unrelated to these music files, and if need be, replace it. Thanks for the advice, and anything else anyone else has to say would certainly be appreciated!

Audio keeps playing even when move away from slide

I am using Captivate 5 and have incorporated TTS voiceovers. I have an introduction slide where a voice gives the scenario, with back and next buttons. The Next button goes on to a demonstration (part of the same project) with a different voice narrating. The demo screens have a button to exit the demo at any time also. If a user is playing the scenario and selects the Back button, the second voice from the demo continues anyway, even though the demo hasn't displayed. By the same token, if you start working through the demo and exit from it using the button provided, the voice continues as if you play the rest of the demo, even if you have moved onto different slides. If you start a second demo, both voices play at the same time. I tried using the check box to turn off audio when button clicked, but that actually turns off the audio on the computer and either no audio is heard at all then, or it just turns off for that slide, then the next slide's audio plays, regardless of what screen is displayed. How do I make the audio stop if I exit the slide or slide sequence (project)?

If you navigate to slide 3 of 27. Answer the question. Then, as you read the success or failure caption, you will also hear audio associated with those captions. Now, navigate to the next page before the audio has completed playing and you will also hear the audio of slide 4 overlapping.
The audio from the success /failure captions do not stop playing when moving to the next slide. I hope there is a way around this, as I really want to have audio with the success/failure captions as well as the page audio.

RANT: Why does screen keep dimming even when "DIM" is disabled?

ARGH this is buggin' me!
I turned off the dim under custom in energy saver. i am reading a document and it keeps dimming and it's annoying as doo doo. anything i can do?

What about the option of "Automatically adjust
brightness as ambient light changes" in

William - anyone with this problem I can guarantee
shut off every screen dimming option.
I have this issue. It seems to be intermittent.
What seems to improve it - Restarting, or unplugging
and re-plugging in the mag safe charger.
These have been my only solution. I have even turned
off all display changes for battery power so that
there shouldn't be any "confusing" factors for the
computer.
I wouldn't care so much about this issue if it wasn't
for the screen whine with decreased brightness.
I trust apple will fix this with software or firmware
updates.

They don't.
What makes you think the apps are still open after restarting the phone?
If you are looking at the app icons at the bottom of the screen when you double-tap the home button, then those are NOT running apps. That is simply a list of recently used apps. Which apps you have recently used does not change when restarting the phone.
Most apps on the iPhone do not run in the background anyway.

Measurement output keeps drifting, even when the input channel are shorted out.

Currently, we are conducting a voltage measuring experiment with your DAQ card "NI PCIe-6353". The voltage we are concerning is a slow variable ranging from 0-20mV.
However, we met some problems operating your device.
1.When the input channel is vacant (no connection to any voltage output), the measurement curve displayed in the test panel (built in your driver) keeps drifting (from some point to -10V, then slowly upwards to +10V, then downwards...), but not stays at 0V.
2.The moment we connect the input channel to a DC stabilized power supply (2V), the measurement curve displays a quick step, but not step to 2V. Then, it continues to drift downwards.
3.When we short out the input channel (for example, connect “33 A1” with “32 A1 GND”), the measurement output still keeps drifting, but not displays 0.
Thus, we wonder if some settings should be regulated, or if there is something wrong with our operations, or there is an additional grounding option that we missed, or the device just breaks down. Could you please give us your valuable suggestions?

Hi Xianke,
It sounds like you may have your measurement configured in differential mode. If so, then you should read 0V when you short pin 66 AI1- to pin 33 AI1. Do you see this same behavior on other channels?
It looks like the default input configuration is differential, so you can also leave your wiring as it is, and change to RSE.

Audio keeps playing even when it doesn't show on timeline

Right, so this is my situation. I have a piece of music (3 minutes long) and I want to use a portion of that in an animation.
I made a separate layer for music only and added a keyframe. I dragged the music from the library on to the stage. The music worked and started playing. But I don't want to use all of it, so I made another keyframe to contain the music. The little red audio wave thing showed that it was only in between those two keyframes, but the music kept playing even after the second keyframe, despite that the audio wave ended beforehand. Even if I remove the frames after the second keyframe it still plays.
This is what it looks like. See how before the keyframe in the middle there's a red thing indicating sound, but after it's gone. Yeah, the audio still plays after that.

With Maverick does Spotlight index keep indexing even when you have not done anything with your computer?

I have had lion and in lion the spotlight did not index all of the time like it does now. It seems like it index's every hour. I have gone through the forums and have deleted and rebuilt the index but it always seems to index and take 20min to do so about every hour, even if I have not download anything. Is this a new thing in Maverick or is it something I should worry or do something I have not already done. I have like I said deleted and rebuilt it. I also put my hard drive in and out of private. I have just done a clean install of Maverick and just wondering if this is part of maverick, never did this in lion. It seems to interrupt my TM Backup and yes I have put my external TM hard drive in the private section.

You can force quit Spotlight indexing.
Open Activity Monitor located in Applications > Utilities
Select the CPU tab.
Type mdworker in the search field top right corner of the window.
Select mdworker then click the force quit button top left side of the window.
