Podcasts no longer show up in playlists. Howto downgrade to iOS5?

After installing iOS6 I discovered, to my horror, that Apple decided I'm nolonger allowd to listen to podcasts though the music player on my iPod.
Every day, for as long as I have an iPod, I have created a playlist in iTunes containing a mix of music and new episodes of podcasts that I subscribe to.
I sync that playlist to my iPod and listen to it while I'm on the road.
Yesterday I "upgraded" to iOS6. Now my playlist is synced but iTunes leaves out the podcast episodes.
I'm very disappointed in this step backwards. I expect Apple won't be solving this bug anytime soon. So I see only one option to downgrade back to iOS5.
Anybody a suggestion how to achieve this? Other options?

@uselessSABOTAGE: Thank you for your suggestion.
However, as far as I know the new Podcast app does not play music or playlists. So I have to disagree with you qualifying the app as "improved". It is new. Nothing has improved.
Apparently I did not make my case clear enough.
I used to listen to a playlist containing a *mix* of music and podcasts in my car.
The new podcast app is not an option for the following reasons:
1) It does not allow me to mix in music with the podcasts
2) It stops at the end of a podcast, requiring me to take my attention away from the traffic around me while I fiddle around with my iPod to start another song or a new podcast. I'm told that this is an unsafe activity and should be avoided.
In my opinion this was A Bad Idea™  by Apple

  • Existing Podcast no longer showing up in Directory

I need some help. I work for a church. Podcast has been set up for years. About 3 months ago, the podcast no longer shows up in the directory, so people that are not already subscribed cannot find it. But if you were already a subscriber, it is still being updated weekly. I have tried to re-submit the feed, it takes it, but then nothing. I have done the feed validator and it is a valid feed. Is there a way to get to a person that can help me?

I am having the same problem. My podcast is original content. It is clean. It is updated. There is no reason for it to disappear.

  • My podcast no longer shows up in iTunes

My podcast has quit showing in itunes. My podbean service was interrupted because of a security hold at PayPal. I've tried resubmitting my feed but iTunes tells me it has already been submitted. The feed is http://shaynor.podbean.com/feed.

You could try making a small change to the podcast title and re-submitting it. (You can change the title back once it's been accepted).
If that doesn't work you could try emailing them on [email protected] - I don't know whether they will sort this for you, but it's worth trying.

  • ITunes no longer shows iPod's playlists

I bring my iPod to work with me all the time, and just leave the "manage music manually" (or whatever that button says) ticked so that I can browse and control my music.
There is a little arrow beside the iPod icon that I can click and it shows me all the playlists. Now the arrow is gone. I've reconnected, checked for updates, rebooted, run a file system check (which did mention that there was no kernel attached or something like that for the usb ipod driver, but kept going and reported "appears to be ok") and repaired permissions. iTunes has NOT been updated since sometime last week. It was working fine when I left Friday.
I can manage my iPod (which I don't want to do) with the iTunes at work but I can no longer play my music because I can't find a way to view any list of songs. Help, please??? I need my tunes or I'll lose my sanity to the boredom.
    Thanks,
    Brooke

Can someone please at least tell me if this is an upgrade 'feature' of iTunes 7.3? If it isn't then this machine has issues. My laptop has not been upgraded and it works with the iPod fine (even though it is not the machine it syncs with). I'm afraid to upgrade because I need my tunes at work, really I do...

  • Podcast No Longer Showing Up on iTunes Search Results

We submitted our podcast months ago and it showed up on the iTunes store just fine. Somewhere along the way, someone on our end introduced a code error in the .xml file that broke the links to the audio files. We didn't find this issue out for quite a while, and in that time, it appears that iTunes flagged and took down our podcast feed from the store (I'm assuming because of this code error).
I have since remedied the code issues and I can subscribe directly to the feed now, so it is working fine. But I cannot get the store to show the podcast in any search results. When I try to resubmit the feed the store says it is already submitted - even if I change the url and the .xml file name, so it is clearly smarter than I am, haha.
Any tips on how to get out of this problem? It has been several weeks and the podcast still does not show up on the store.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Roger,
Thanks for the reply - in the time it took me to hit submit and tab back to my .xml file I saw that I'd missed changing the link/title. Thank you for confirming that this will do it - it let me resubmit. Take care!

  • Podcasts no longer show in iPod player

I have been downloading both audio and video podcasts directly to my 1st gen. iPad via iTunes Store app for some time.  Since the recent update, the podcast episodes appear to download, but do not show in the iPod player.  I am getting apps to download from the App Store and they install just fine, but no podcasts from iTunes Store.  I'm stumped.  Any ideas?

Thanks Chris, you gave me the clue that I needed to figure it out. I had previously deeted the Podcasts app but somehow, it came back on my phone. Deleting it *again* restore the Podcast choice in the Music app.
I wonder if an app upgrade in ituens on my Mac triggered re-installation some how.

  • Why are my videos no longer showing up in playlists after iOS 5 upgrade?

    Hi there,
In the past, all I need to do to view my video playlist was to use the iPod app. However, after the iOS 5 update, it appears that the iPod app is gone and its closest equivalent is the music app, which does not list any of my videos that I *know* are present on the iPad. Does anyone have an idea of how to deal with video playlists after the iOS 5 update?
    thanks,
    --Dany.

Yes, I agree, especially since the Music app on my iPod Touch has more features than the Music app on my iPad.

  • Podcasts no longer showing in Recently Added on iPod

I recently received an update to iTunes. The next time I synced my iPod with new podcasts (which I download in reverse order[1] so that the items I want to listen to first are the last ones downloaded) I could not find my podcasts in the "Recently Added" section. Has there been a change to the way iPods are handled? If so why?

i'm no expert with this one. but fingers crossed this document may be of some help:

  • My playlists no longer show up on iPhone 4s or Mac TV.

My playlists no longer show up on iPhone 4s or Mac TV.
I'm only syncing, physically, from my desktop. I don't use iTunes Match.
This seems to me a recent problem for me.

    Hello Yeit,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like neither your phone nor Apple TV 1st gen are getting the playlists synced to them from iTunes.
If that is the case then I do not think the issues would be to do with either of the devices themselves, so we should look at the iTunes library itself.
First I would check to see if the checkboxes to sync your playlists are checked in the Music tab of your device when it is selected in iTunes.
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable and click the device button in the upper right corner. (If you are viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper right corner. The device button will then be visible.) Some tabs may not appear if you do not have corresponding content in your library. For example if you do not have any podcasts in your library, the corresponding Podcast tab will not appear.
You can configure the different content types in each tab. For example, Movies under the Movies tab.
To sync, click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen.
From: iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
              http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
If so they are all checked, I would next restart the computer, Apple TV, and iPhone and try again.
If the issue persists next I would recreate your iTunes library.

  • My iTunes account is no longer showing my playlists or any of the music I have added from sources other than iTunes.

I discovered that iTunes is no longer showing any of my playlists or music I have added from sources other than iTunes.  My iPod, which is a 4th Gen Classic, seems fine and has all of my playlists and music.  My question is how do I upload my iPod to iTunes so that I don't lose anything?  I have read a lot of posts about people having similar problems and most of them suggest restoring from an old saved file.  I have two problems with this approach 1) I do not have a current back-up and 2) it does not seem to work for any of my non-Apple purcahsed music.  Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this?

I'd do a "deauthorize all" from a computer you have access to, and then reauthorise the computers you still have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • , I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive. Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing, Can't play music .. how to restore back to original state .

I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive.Cant play any music as it "can't find" the library  Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing.   How to restore back to original state . I have tried re-installing  - with no change

I do the same thing as you do...
My music is on an external drive as to not use up gigabytes of storage that need not be used for media.
There are a couple basic principles to iTunes that I believe you should know.
    1. iTunes is not a media storage program. It does not store your media "in iTunes". It simply is an organization tool for your media already on a hard disk.
    2. As iTunes is not a storage mechanism, it has no way to "know" whether or not the media that is listed is actually there. This is where the "design" of iTunes comes into play.
I like to think of iTunes as a bread-crumb trail. The "music" in iTunes, isn't actually there. The bread crumb is the location on the external hard drive.
If that bread crumb trail disappears (in this case the external drive you use). If said external drive is not plugged in, that bread crumb trail is not able to be followed. iTunes is "lost" and unable to find the media. The only way to remedy this is to place the media on your local drive.
To address your issue of the library. If you hold down shift, you can select your library on your external drive. It will be a file with an .itl extension. The folder name will be your external drive.
I go into edit > preferences > advanced and set my library to the correct location. Make sure you check the box "Copy to iTunes Folder when importing" (or whatever it says).
You can't fix the issue of iTunes not seeing the media if your drive is unplugged unless you physically move the content to your OS HDD...Or any other HDD you use.

  • Podcasts for iOS no longer show number of episode not played on icon. Any clue how to fix? I have already tried to fix by restarting iPad, deleting and reinstalling App, etc.

My iPad stopped showing number of unplayed episode on icon for Podcasts program. I have tried to fix by deleting and reinstalling, restarting iPad, etc., but nothing has helped so far. It may or may not be related, but my iPad also no longer show a list of App that needs to be updated for App Store application. In this case, it shows number of available updates, but does not list them when I open. Then, the only way to find what App needs update, I need to go to "purchased" section, and individually look for updates.
This is basically opposite of what happend to Podcasts App, where it does not show unplayed episode on icon, but it does show unplayed episode once I open the application itself...
Any clue how to fix these problems???

Maybe you have content restricted for apps and that would prevent you from installing certain apps.
