Podcasts no longer update

I can't seem to get any podcasts to download since itunes did it's last update. Apple customer support don't want anything to do with this and their attitude seems to be; podcasts, we don't care.
None of my podcasts will update since the last itunes update. I've tried deleting and re-subscribing, I've subscribed thourgh the itunes store and websites, I've reinstalled itunes, none of which has any effect. When I click the "refresh" button or right click and choose "Update podcast" the little syncing icon at the left turns orange but does not rotate like it used to and nothing is ever downloaded. This problem is consistent along about a dozen podcasts, many from different providers.
Can this be resolved or is there even any place I can download a previous version of itunes to go back to what I had before? Anyone else have this problem?
This has been the case for about 4-5 days now and no change.
I find it really annoying as I've spent a fortune on Apple products over the years (I have had various ipods and also own an imac) and this is the first I've had need to contact customer support and I'm less than impressed! I use my ipod for podcasts mybe about 80-90% rather than mp3's so it really makes my ipod redundant!

Can you reach the iTunes Store through your iTunes? Have you checked your firewall, to make sure that it is still allowing iTunes to access the internet?
(Updates to a programme can sometimes cause firewall settings for that programme to be changed.)
One test you could perform, in your iTunes Podcast Library, select the main title for one of the Podcasts and then click on the "blue arrow in white circle" that's next to the *Subscribe/Get All* button. Does this take you into the Store, to that Podcast's front page? If it doesn't, it suggests that there is something wrong with your firewall setting.

Subscribed Podcast no longer updating !

All of a sudden for no reason, 2 days ago all of my different subscribed podcasts have stopped updating, I get an exclamation mark and a message saying that the url may have changed or I do not have priviledges !

thanksDid you do any harddisc related work/updates/formatting? This error usually occurs when the privileges on the iTunes folder and/or harddisc it sits on are different from yours.
Check this by marking the itunes folder with your mouse and then press APPLE+i to get the information dialogue window pop up. Check the privilege situation in the bottom half and search for your username (usually the short string). You might - for whatever reason - have read-only privilegs or even not be listed at all.
Now click the lock symbol, enter your administrative´s account password and reset the privileges so that you have unlimited read/write access again. -
Podcast no longer updateing (for over a year)
We have several podcast on the iTunes store, all of them work fine but one, our main one, it has not updated in a long time, I have sent emails, used the "report problem" link in iTunes, which I don't see in the new version and I can't seem to get help with this, the link has never changed and like I said all of our other feeds update just fine.
Is there anyway to start a conversation with a tech directly?

TyWhen you subscribe in iTunes, all the episodes appear, although as you say the Store hasn't updated since July 2011. Looking at the feed coding, all the recent episodes have the 'itunes:block' tag set to 'Yes'. Although it evidently doesn't affect the iTunes application when subscribing, it is blocking these episodes from the Store, which is what it is designed to do. I've not looked at in in detail, but I imagine that the tag isn't set up to the point where the Store is showing the episode, but somehow got set to 'Yes' and replicated from there on. You need to go through it and set all the tags to 'No'.

My podcast no longer updates in the podcast app
I host several podcasts, but one of them hasn't updated the last 2 days after I posted it--and pinged it. I'm seeing it everywhere else it gets burned to, except the Podcast app. What's going on--and is there something I can do on my end to fix it? (My other podcasts are updating just fine, so it seems strange that it has to do with the podcast app--esp after I recently did the latest update which was supposed to fix that bug).
The 'itunes:summary' tag for the episode of 19th January ends like this -
"This year, I will exercise more."...</itunes:summary>
As the '"' tag has been truncated you have an ampersand (indicating the start of a code sequence) but the code is never finished. This renders the rest of the feed unreadable, and as that includes the closing tags the entire feed is invalidated and iTunes cannot read it.
There's no reason to have all these '"' tags - just type " (iTunes won't render the code but will display it, which looks messy) - but in any case don't let a code be truncated like that or you will have this problem.
Incidentally it's better all round to start your own thread when you have a query, rather than tag on to an existing one which can cause confusion if a discussion is ongoing. You're also more likely to be noticed. -

youtube is no longer a built in app on ios6. Apple contract with google expired so youtube and google maps were removed. try the app store or youtube mobile website

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library. I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library. I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music. I can add more podcasts to ipod. The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts. When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device. So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library. I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod. I have checked for updates. I have restored the ipod to it's original settings. My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes. I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library. I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

Existing Podcast no longer showing up in Directory
I need some help. I work for a church. Podcast has been set up for years. About 3 months ago, the podcast no longer shows up in the directory, so people that are not already subscribed cannot find it. But if you were already a subscriber, it is still being updated weekly. I have tried to re-submit the feed, it takes it, but then nothing. I have done the feed validator and it is a valid feed. Is there a way to get to a person that can help me?
I am having the same problem. My podcast is original content. It is clean. It is updated. There is no reason for it to disappear.

Podcasts no longer "Auto Delete"
Hello,
Wasn't sure which forum was best for this but just wanted to voice my frustration with Itunes 7.7 and the fact that my podcasts no longer "Auto-Delete" after being played. I checked my settings for each podcast and they are still set to "AUto-Delete". If anyone has any suggestions, please respond.
Thanks!The auto-delete functionality in iTunes refers to deleting the podcasts from your computer. The control for removing played podcasts from the device is on the podcasts tab available when the device is attached.
Whether or not podcasts are auto-deleted from you computer is based on the podcasts settings in iTunes. The settings button is on the bottom of the podcasts page (next to the undelete button). In the popup window under "Settings for:", select "Podcast Defaults" to change to default for all podcasts, or a specific podcast that you want to behave differently from the default settings.
When choosing "Podcast Defaults", the two selections at the bottom of the window will be unlocked. When choosing any single podcast, uncheck the "Use Defaults" checkbox to unlock these fields.
Changing the selection "When new episodes are available:" will affect how many (zero, one, or all) podcasts to download.
Changing the selection "Episodes to keep:" will affect which, if any, podcasts are auto-deleted.
As to removing podcasts from the device, this changed for me with the most recent update to the iPod software. Podcasts are removed from the iPhone if they have been played, but they remain on the iPod until they have been deleted from iTunes. I have not experienced a case where a podcast persisted on the device after it was deleted from the computer. I am hopeful that Apple will fix this with the next iPod software update. -
my nano no longer updates/is recognized by my itunes. i attemoted to update through the ipod updater, but it does not recognize that my ipod is plugged in. it is properly plugged in as it is charging, but it will not update. it also won't do any of the r's...and furthermore no matter how long it is plugged in, the do not disconnect situation doesn't go away. i love my ipod and i am filled with sadness at its current state. thanks...

if it's just itunes that isn't recognising the ipod, try:

Someone changed the settings on my iPhone so that I can no longer update or add apps. The icon no longer appears. Can someone please tell me how to add that back?
I should have added that the iTunes app is not displayed on my phone in order for me to add the apps.

Done all the normal updates - iOS5, iTunes 10.5, etc.
As of the middle of June, every time I "like" a song via Ping in iTunes, it no longer updates in my Recent Activity tab in Ping. Any ideas why, or how I can resolve?I don't have a solution, but this is also happening to me. I have contacted iTunes Support but they have been less than useful. Hopefully someone will have a solution and post here.

I have iphone 4s with iO6. My problem is I can no longer update my apps since "cannot connect to itunes store" always shows on my screen when i try to. Tried fixing by changing the dates, turning off location as suggested in some forums but both didn't work! Please help!! Thanks.
You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them. -
Since I downloaded the new operating system (6.1.3) to my iPod touch I can no longer update my Apps or download and new Apps. My password is recognized but when touching the update (all) button or download, the screen immediately reverts to the earlier screen and no updating or downloading occurs.

I have iBooks 2.1 on ipad. I changed my password and can no longer update the app. If I delete the app and install the updated version, will I lose the books I have purchased?
Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if you can then update the app.
If you do delete the app then you should be able to re-download your ibook purchases via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app. But in case some of them are no longer available in the store and/or you have PDFs or epubs in it, then you could first connect it to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) which should copy them over to the Books part of your iTunes library so that you have your own copy of them and can sync them back (even though they aren't iTunes purchases it should also copy over any PDFs or epubs that you have in the iBooks app) -
I have an older computer and can no longer update. After the latest Apple update I can no longer access my e-mail on my mac. I can view it on my iphone and on icloud. Is there a solution to this problem?
Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.

Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.
