Podcasts not copying to iPod

Sometimes, when I try to copy some podcasts to my iPod classic, these won't move.
I can+t see the message of copying, nothing.
I suspect I may have copied them already previously, but since they are not on the iPod, I try again, but the iPod seems to believe they are already there but they are not!
How can I put these podcasts on my iPod?

The song had previously been on the iPod. I checked and despite the fact that iTunes could not find the file, the song was still on my iPod. I checked the folder and the song was exactly where t was supposed to be. So I simply set iTunes to find it again. What happened? I don't know, iTunes simply threw a wobbly!)
Second, try another Sync. Does this change anything? If the song was on the iPod, does a second Sync remove the message? If the song was not on the iPod after the first Sync, does the second one put it on there?

If the item is in your iTunes library then it is already saved.
With the iPod plugged in then select the items that you want to sync to the iPod. You can sync your entire library to the iPod - space permitting - or just selected content.

Not copied to ipod

When I synch my ipod to itunes, I get the warning "some of the items in the library were not copied to ipod because they could not be found". But they ARE there, on both the library and the ipod. I haven't deleted them, or touched them at all. Why all of a sudden does it say they can't be found? And if they can't, why can I still find them and play them on both the ipod and the computer? How do I get rid of this erroneous error message?

To paraphrase, the newer ipods need an extension called ipodDriver.kext, but the latest version of iTunes does NOT install it on OS 10.3.9. Using a shareware program called Pacifist (available at http://www.charlessoft.com/), you can extract the extension from the iTunes 6.0.4 package, copy it into SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS, and restart your computer. iTunes will now transfer the purchased songs.

I think it's possible that your iPod is not appearing on the desktop/in the Finder because you are automatically syncing your iPod with iTunes, but Disk Use is not enabled.

Video podcasts not copying to 5G ipod

I have a 5G 60 video ipod and prior to updating to itunes 7 all was well. I downloaded video podcasts from the itunes store- macbreak video and podsurf
tv. Both podcasts are not on my ipod. I have an imac intel desktop. here's one
message: some of the videos in your itunes library, including the video "macBreak 14: automator photoblog," were not copied to "dave's ipod" because
they cannot be played on this ipod. Why aren't these video podcasts copied to my ipod? My ipod software is up to date and I am not using a pc.
I can still buy music and tv shows and copy them to my ipod.
Reading the discussions has me thinking something be wrong with the itunes

I had the same problem with a Happy Tree Friends episode, Eyes Cold Lemonade. I just converted it to M4V with PQ DVD to iPod converter, but it does't show as a podcast, just video. One option...
Maybe if there is a way to delete it and re-download it, it might work that way... I'll have to try that.

Selected podcasts not showing on ipod

Please help me, I'm having nightmares!
I have a 60GB ipod (video) and have not had any problems with it until recently... I've been subscribed to a podcast for some time now and even though I can see all episodes in iTunes certain episodes will not copy to my iPod. I have plenty of free space. I have done the 5Rs, and I have changed the drive name of my iPod. I've also tried to drag the episodes from itunes into my ipod but with no luck. I've had a pretty good scout round the questions already asked and tried some of the solutions that worked for others but it's not quite worked for me yet...
Please help me!

When you connect your iPod, you should see your summary page... it has a picture of the iPod, along with the name, serial number, software version, capacity, and format.
If you do not see this, click on your iPod's name below the Devices section of your source list (left-hand column of iTunes).
Along the top where you see the word Summary you should also see a tab labeled "Podcasts". Click on it, and make sure your settings are set to sync all episodes of instead of sync all unplayed episodes, or something to that effect.

I got a new gen iPod Classic (160G) for Christmas, purchased Bob Marley's Album "Legend" and when I sync the playlist to the iPod I get an error message saying this one song cannot be played on this iPod. What gives? Is it something about "I Shot the Sheriff" that my iPod has a moral disagreement with? Song was not copied to iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod

i copied a song to a folder from the internet then added the folder to itunes. Then when i try to put the song on my iPod nano i get the message (song title) was not copied to the iPod "Mike's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod. i can play the entire song on the itunes library though, and there is a little wave icon thing next to the song title. How can I make it where I can copy this song to the iPod?

Ok, I tried changing the file format and when I select the song and go to the advanced menu it says convert selection to... but the text isnt selectable but is when I select a different song. I guess this means its protected from being converted? If so is there anything else I can do to be able to get it onto my iPod?
Also does it matter what format I try to convert it too?

Recent purchases from ITunes Store will not copy to IPod

I am running Vista and have taken all downloads available that I am aware of. I just purchased some new music from the ITunes Store. I am getting this message:
"Some of items in the ITunes Library (those are the new items) were not copied to the IPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
Any help would be appreciated!
P.S. I can see the new music in the library, but it won't copy over with the rest of the music.

I know that from my searches, this topic has been touched on but I am unable to locate a solution. So my apologies in advanced if asked and answered.
When updating, iTunes tells me that some songs cannot be copied because they cannot be found. However, the songs are clearly in the iTunes folder. I also have a backup copy of my entire library and adding them back from that library does not work either.
Here is what I have discovered about these files: some are songs that were in an album by themself and then the rest of the album was added later. Some of the songs are in the format of .mp3 and some are in the format of .m4a. None of the affected songs are purchased from iTunes; none of my purchased music is problematic.
This problem seems to be growing. At first it was just one song, then it grew to 48 and then to 59. The songs play just fine in iTunes, but cannot be copied to the iPod. I checked the properties of the songs, and none of them are read-only. There should not be a problem with permissions on this computer as I am the administrator and gave myself full priveleges on installation.
Clearly there is something wrong with these songs that prevents their being copied. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
At the risk of getting flamed, please don't respond just to gripe about Apple, etc. I am looking for solutions, not commiseration.

Replying to my own post since I don't see how to edit.
I have some more information that may help if someone can determine the significance.
I EXPORTED one of the playlists that contains 2 of the above described problem songs. I converted the text file to a table and then noted that in the last column (column 27) that there is a PATH to the song. All other songs do not have this in the path. The path does not refer to the current location of the file, either.
The first song that this happened to does not appear on any playlists so I did not discover this.
The rest of the songs got "lost" after I added some old playlists back to my Library that I had exported. In one particular playlist two of the songs had the wrong path in the Location column, and neither was found. However, the rest of the songs had a blank field in that column and were found just fine. So.... I think I may be onto something, for all those who have this problem. However, the only way to actually do this without a supercomputer would be to make a playlist of all the not-copy-able songs, export the playlist and carefully look for that path data.
I would love to hear if anyone has tried this for this problem. I don't want to keep replying to my own posts, but I honestly think I cracked this "bug". The problem appears to be that the data in the database gets errors in it during the moving/addition of a song from another place on the system, regardless of the settings in iTunes. In my case, I consolidated my library, allowed iTunes to organize my music and I am a fanatic about spelling and so forth for song titles and related information.

Can not copy to iPod, authorize, restore, or play songs

When my iTunes opens and syncs to my iPod, I get the message "Some of the items in the iTunes library.....were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." It will not copy anything in my library to my iPod. My iPod subsequently is empty. So I will authorize it, it says authorization was successful, I then sync again, and I get the same message. I searched the forums and found a similar problem and it was suggested that you try to play a song that will not copy, and if that doesn't work, deauthorize the computer, try to play the song again, and it will prompt you to authorize again. It seemed to work for that person, but not for me. It is an endless cycle. I have searched all over Apple's support site and the discussion forums. Everything I have tried does not work. I have the latest updates. I have reset, tried different USB ports, tried to update the USB drivers, flushed the DNS (?), and even tried to restore and that won't work. It gives me the error 418 (i think that was the #) So I can't copy, authorize or restore my ipod and I can't even play anything from my library on my computer. Any suggestions?

I will try another computer.

Podcasts not showing in ipod podcast library

Since getting my new PC and transferring my library across my podcasts no longer show within the Podcast library on my ipod, they do show correctly on iTunes, they are only shown in the music library which is hardly convenient.
I have updated my ipod software to the latest version to see if that corrected it but it hasnt, I have reset the ipod settings on the player itself and that hasnt made any difference.
My movies, music videos and TV shows all show as snormal just not the podcasts.
Anyone else come across this? Anyone else got any suggestions on how to fix this, or know how to resolve this issue?

Recheck the podcast settings the next time you connect to your PC. Sometimes the setting defaults back to not syncing any podcasts. This happened to me once. For no reason I couldn't get my podcasts loaded on my ipod. I checked my settings and I had to reset it. No problems since then.

MOVIES NOT COPYING TO IPOD

this product is really disappointing me, since this is the third major problem i've had with the video nano...
anyway, i have movies in .mp4 format, and they copy to my iTunes library but they don't go onto my iPod. it says "this movie was not copied to your iPod because the video file is not supported." but .mp4 is supported, right?

You need to make sure the files conform to the specifications for playback on your iPod. If you have a movie in your iTunes library then select the file, choose advanced and choose convert for iPod. The specifications for compatible video files are listed on the product page. If you use your own converter make sure it can add the necessary data for iTunes to accept the file as compatible. Otherwise use something like VisualHub or Handbrake to do the conversion.
