Podcasts not synching properly

I have an iPod mini on which I play podcasts. I have followed the directions on the apple support site for making a smart playlist on which podcasts will stream one after another, and then be deleted from the list after being played. (In the smart playlist menu I check "Podcast" "is true" "+" "Playcount" "=0") Although the podcasts will be marked as played in the podcast listing (the blue dot next to the played podcast disappears), the played podcasts remain on my streaming smart playlist after synching. Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much.

I think this is an iTunes question, not an iPod Mini question. I have used a playlist like this through several versions of iTunes, so there's hope
The second condition in your smart playlist shows in 8.0.1 as "Play Count" "is" 0, right? Did you verify that the "Live updating" box is checked?
If you're looking at the playlist as shown on the Mini, have you tried syncing again? (I've noticed that with iTunes 7.7 onward there's a bug in updating podcasts on my Mini: I have to sync twice to get deleted podcasts to actually go away. This seems to have come along with the new feature that podcasts in playlists now also appear in the Podcasts section of the Mini. More precisely, the podcasts go away, but iTunes shows that the space is still in use. Sync again fixes it.)

  • My iPod Touch will not synch properly or restore at all.

When I connect it to my i-Tunes library, it will not synch properly.  I receive an error message saying: "ITunes was unable to load provider data from Synch Services.  Reconnect or try again later."  I do reconnect and I still eceive the same error message.  When I attempt to restore the iPod Touch, I receive an error message saying that I don't have enough access permissions.  When my son connected the iPod Touch to his i-Tunes library on his side of the computer (I have a PC with multiple accounts for me and my family), he did not receive any error messages.  Moreover, he was able to synch the iPod Touch properly and even restore it to its factory settings without any trouble.  I think that this may be a problem with my i-Tunes library, but I have tried several times to update my i-Tunes version and I still receive error messages.  For some reason, my son does not have any problems.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finished, you will be asked if you wish the contents of iTunes to be copied to the iPad.

  • Podcasts not synch'ing.

Has anyone come across this problem before?
Basically I have a few podcasts with many episodes that are downloaded via iTunes and I generally keep them forever. For a couple of them a number of episodes will not synch to the ipod. I am running iTunes 7.02 on a PC with a Photo iPod. The episodes are present and correct in terms of windows files, and iTunes - I can play them on the PC.
I have tried resetting the iPod to factory defaults and re-synching the entire library and also deleting the episodes and re-downloading from iTunes but nothing works..
    Any ideas?

I'm also experiencing this same problem. Updated podcasts are on my PC in iTunes but cannot seem to get them to update like they "used to" on my iPod. Can't seem to find a resolution to this problem despite resetting the iPod, reinstalling all my software/downloads, etc.

Perhaps that's why Apple posted the update!
You are probably correct when you suggest that "third party software generating the podcast not being configured correctly and creating a corrupted video file" has something to do with it. Maybe the people who create the Apple Quick Tip of the Week haven't checked to make sure what they do actually works.
I had a video (converted by iTunes for the iPod) that caused my iPod 160GB to crash, twice. Since that video was not that important to me, I removed it and it will not go back on regardless of software updates. These things happen. However, to someone like me who grew up with vinyl records, the iPod is fantastic!

  • Podcasts not synching

    Hi all
I have downloaded a couple of podcast videos from itunes store and get the following message:
'Some of the videos in your itunes library were not copied to the ipod "Pauls ipod" because they cannot be played on this ipod"
I have checked all the sync settings and think all is correct. I would assume that any podcasts downloaded from the itunes store would work on a new ipod, but hey I suppose you should never assume anything these days!!
    Would appreciate any ideas.
    All the best

What type of iPod do you have?
If you have any other model of iPod, like an iPod nano for example, you will not be able to play videos on it.
Only the Fifth Generation iPod models are able to play videos (this includes Music Videos, Movies, or video podcasts).

  • New podcasts not synching to my iPhone or iPad

While the Podcasts that I had subscribed to in the past are still syncing, any new Podcast channels that I subscribe to are downloading to iTunes but do not sync to my iPad or iPhone.  I have checked that:
the tick mark to the left of the podcast title is ticked
if I select the device in the left hand panel and go to the Podcast Tab, the Sync Podcasts is ticked (in fact other new podcasts being downloaded from the previously subscribed channels are downloading to my devices)
Automatically include All unplayed espisodes of all podcasts is selected
the effected podcasts are still shown as unplayed
I am using iTunes for Mac version 10.5 running on OSX 10.7.2.

Never received any reply from anyone on this issue and it is still outstanding.  I have taken some other steps and still have no solution.  I went to show the problem to one of the staff at the Genius Bar in our of the Apple stores.  He was unable to find the problem.  I have unsubscribed to all the podcasts and resubscribed and again it was only the ones to which I was already subscribed earlier that downloaded.  I have also reinstalled iTunes.  I could not de-install iTunes first as the system does not allow that.
The fact that the newly subscribed to podcasts do download to my Mac but then do not sync both to the iPhone nor to the iPad would seem to indicate the problem is either a 5.0.1 problem or an iTunes problem.
I have run out of things to try.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • HT3281 Podcasts NOT Synching with iPod!!!!!!!!!

I just spent 4 hours downloading 720 podcasts for a trip and I have tried all the suggestions for getting the Podcast app on my iPod to sync up with no success. Any suggestions????????  Yes I have the latest app....

My ipod is now operating on iOS 6.1.3 and I still cannot get the podcasts in iTunes to show up on my ipod.  This is beyond aggrevating!   I have selected that all podcasts synch in both iTunes and the ipod.

  • Replied Arrow in Mac Mail not synching properly between Macs

    Hi there
We have a mac pro and a macbook both with mac mail. The email account is a gmail account and the two Macs are synchronised by mobileme. I have noticed that the macbook does not show reply arrows on emails replied to on the mac pro and the mac pro shows some reply arrows of that replied to on the macbook but not all.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Donna

I signed out of iCloud, deleted every mail account I had added into the mail app on my mac, restarted the mac and signed into iCloud again.
What it did was sync ONLY my iCloud account's mails. My 2 gmail accounts and one hotmail wasn't synced into the mail app. It was strange because under 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars', I could see every one of those accounts, but when I attempted to tick 'Mail', the spinning icon would appear and thats it. It would spin indefinitely.
Doesn't iCloud keep ALL my email accounts seamlessly synced across my devices, and not just the Apple-certified email accounts that end with '@icloud.com'?

  • Iphone not synching properly

songs in the library and playing fine - just not loading onto the phone - manually selecting Albums only - Thank you.

I've got the same problem. Email syncs fine, as do contacts. Calendar attempts to sync, shows me a bunch of calender events, then they vanish and the phone continually loops trying to sync.
This is making the phone run red hot, likely chewing up a **** load of 3G data and emptying my battery in hours.
This only happened after a USB sync post installation of iTunes 8.1. Prior to the sync this worked just fine.
Nice work on the iTunes upgrade Apple.

  • Emails Not Synched Properly

When I receive new emails on my phone and view them so that they are marked as read, the same emails appear as unread when accessing the mail client on my Macbook Pro, and vice versa. There are 3 email accounts in total, two of which are personal Gmail accounts, and the other is a Gmail-based account that is used through the university which I attend. The school's email account does not experience this issue, whereas the two personal Gmail acconts do. Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?

Assuming you set them up on the phone using the "Gmail" option... It sounds like you have them set up on your computer as POP3 accounts. Set them up as IMAP accounts instead. POP 3 does not provide for full synchronization between clients and the server.

  • Ipod Classic (80g) Videos not synching properly!

Ok so my ipod works great except when you try and have videos on it. I have all the converters and stuff and sometimes it works fine and they go on and are all there. However... Sometimes the videos cut off after a minute or so when i play them on my ipod. I thought it might be a converter issue but they play all way trough in itunes, so it's something to do wiht the synch process I'm guessing.
    any ideas?

This is how to sync videos
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304680
This is to make sure all of the video types are working on your ipod.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75424
Download each one of those videos and try to use the top article to sync them to your ipod.
If all of the videos work... its probably a problem with your converter.
make sure you are updating your ipod. Apple just released a new software version for classics when itunes 7.6 came out.
Also, restoring your ipod to factory settings by hitting that restore button in your summary screen may help wash out any glitches your ipod may have on it if the above info doesnt help you.

  • IPad not synching properly

For some reason my iPad doesnt want to sync with iTunes anymore.
It shows as having 4.7gb of Apps installed, but when I go to the App tab, 'Sync Apps' isn't selected and if I choose it, it warns me that everything on  my iPad will be overwritten - what should I do?
Also, if I try and transfer purchases from iPad to iTunes i just get "Waiting for Changes to be applied"
I'm on iOS5 if that helps!?

    Greetings,
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
If the issue persists reset your sync history and try again: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26867.html
If the issue persists reset your sync data from the computer to the cloud (MobileMe) and then try again: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8933.html
    Hope that helps.

  • CD not synching properly to iPod

I've imported a CD to my iTunes, and have then put onto my iPod 30gb video. On my iPod, the entire disc appears when searching for an album, however will not show up when searching on the iPod by the artist. This is the only songs I have by this artist and the CD is the original, not a burned copy. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It could be that you have inadvertently imported this CD into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a song info window, and by selecting "options" you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't show under artist on my iPod.
