Podcasts not working

I just baught an ipod this summer. I downloaded the rent podcast from itunes and plugged in my ipod. The ipod "downloaded" seven of the podcast "episodes". It rejected all the podcasts with videos, is this a problem with my ipod, or is that just how they work?

This is a widespread problem, it mostly seems to effects all iPods with the 1.2 firmware update. If this is the case for your iPod and it has firmware 1.2 ( click about in the ipod menu to find out your firmware), then simply just shut off the EQ in the iPod extra settings... I had the same problem and it resolved it for me.

Some Podcasts not working since upgrading to 1.2

Ever since I upgraded my IPOD to version 1.2, I have found that some podcasts which I subscribe to no longer work. It downloads and transfers to my IPOD OK, but when I go to play it my IPOD shuts down then eventually restarts. So far it seems to happen with KCRW's the Treatment, Creative Screenwriting & WFUV podcasts. I know I could probably restore it back to the previous version but I'd rather not as I have already paid for a game which I know only works with the new functionality (plus I like playing it). Anyone else found this?

There's another thread about this somewhere - many people have had this problem. I've had it with the Creative Screenwriting podcasts, which are the only ones to which I subscribe.
The thread proposed a workaround - start the podcast not at the beginning but one second in. You have to select the podcast, then I think do a Get Info or something - there's some way to find Options, then Start Time, then input 1 or 2 seconds in (with the CS Podcasts, this is fine, since Jeff tends to yakk on for at least two minutes before the interviews begin!)
I've not yet tried it, but it seems to have solved problems on the other thread, accepted as a workaround until Apple fixes it.

Video podcasts not working

Is anyone having problems with video podcasts? For instance, I have the ABC news video podcast and I can hear it but the video is not working.

That is correct the video podcast will have to be played from the videos section. This is covered on page 64 of the iPhone User Manual http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf

ILife 08 iWeb 08 - Podcast Not Working HELP!

I may not have explained myself in my last post, so I'll try again. o.k. Who has had a problem with the new 08 stuff? I am not a computer genius and do my podcast in garageband, share it with iWeb, and publish with .mac. I am not good at code and have gone this route becasue it was being done for me. Since changing to 08, my podcast stopped working. I spoke to the "Genius" at the Apple store and he helped my change my website by removing the "iWeb" from the forwarded address. Now my website works. However, he had no clue on how to change this in iTunes. How can I get iWeb 08 and iTunes to work together to play my podcasts again? Any help would be apppreciated. Very useful info that some servers need this to be done! It would be nice to know exactly how they did it, but I suspect it was an addition to the .htaccess file along the lines of
AddType audio/x-m4a m4a
AddType audio/x-m4b m4b
If you can see the .htaccess or .config file in your space I would be interested to know if it says something like this.

Podcasts not working properly?

Nano 7thG Podcasts will either stop part way through or will skip and repeat the beginning. I've tried 5 different podcast's all from different people..

You are probably correct when you suggest that "third party software generating the podcast not being configured correctly and creating a corrupted video file" has something to do with it. Maybe the people who create the Apple Quick Tip of the Week haven't checked to make sure what they do actually works.
I had a video (converted by iTunes for the iPod) that caused my iPod 160GB to crash, twice. Since that video was not that important to me, I removed it and it will not go back on regardless of software updates. These things happen. However, to someone like me who grew up with vinyl records, the iPod is fantastic!

Enhanced Podcasts not working in 10.4.4 Firefox?

Every iWeb podcast page I've visited in Firefox 1.5 loads the QuickTime movie and shows an image and the playhead for a split second before being covered up by the QuickTime question mark image which links to the Quicktime download page.

This is a page that does not work for me. Is this a Firefox issue, or do you have to create the enhanced podcasts a certain way for Firefox?

I'm having the same problem but in Safari. I can see my podcast artwork and play / pause / start buttons whilst the page is loading but when the page is complete, the podcast turns into the broken quicktime logo.

I have definately got the latest version of everything installed.
The podcast was created in Garageband and sent to iWeb from there.
For some reason, friends who are using Windows can hear it no problem.
Also, the subscribe button works and the podcast works fine in iTunes.

Keywords for my Podcast not working right in Search Podcast

I'm wondering if any other podcasters are having problems with the "search podcast" feature not finding your updated keywords? I've changed the keywords using Smartcast in Feedburner but the new keywords never seem to get any hits for my podcast in the search mode. In fact, only a couple of them work. Yet, at Odeo and other places, the updated keywords show up. Any suggestions on what to do or what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

All the tags are explained there. (But they do not explain that the search tag does not work - at least I've never been able to search on the keywords I put in our feed. But search does work on the other tag I mentioned. But you do not want to just load that with keywords, since that's what will display in the ITMS!)

Why is iTunes submission-site for podcasts not working?

I am done with everything and was hoping to apply my podcast syndication to iTunes, but the link ( (https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast) ) for that does not work.
Is there anywhere else to do this and how can such a central site not work? I'm dumbfounded.

URL's in Enhanced podcasts not working?

I did some tests tonight, and confirmed that STP2 does NOT properly embed the URL's in enhanced podcasts. I confirmed this by producing a podcast w/ the URL's in Garageband and it works perfectly.
How do things like this slip by the testers and get shipped in final retail by Apple? I bought STP2 specifically do to podcasts, and it can't even do that right.
How do I file a bug with Apple on this?

Podcasts not working in iOS 7

I manually manage my podcasts using a PC running Win 7. Never had a problem before instaling iTunes 11.0 then 11.1. Now when I try and play a podcast on my 5s a window pops up on the iPhone with the following msg: Use Cellular Data "Would you like to temporarily turn on cellular data in order to play back this streaming episode?" "Now Now or Turn On" To my knowledge I have not selected any automatic downloads or streaming.
I can play the podcasts fine on my 4s which is running iOS 7 as well.
Guess I should have waited until the debugging was over before going with iOS 7 or maybe it's the fault of iTunes

I just started having this same problem. I don't know for sure but after reading a few posts I'm thinking I figured out the issue. I recently signed into icloud with a diff iTunes account bc I wanted to separate my wife's calendar from mine. I think the shortcuts are associated with each icloud account. I know this bc I remember being shocked that all my shortcuts were working on our iPads and other iPhones. They were all logged into the same icloud acct. They all are still acknowledging the shortcuts but not my iphone. You'll have to revert to the other icloud acct or rewrite your shortcuts. I'm going to get one of my iPads and take screenshots of the shortcuts and just reset them. Maybe Apple will provide a way to transfer them, but don't hold your breath.

Enhanced podcasts not working in iOS 5; new music app keeps crashing

I just updated to iOS5 and regularly view enhanced podcasts. after the update, I can no longer figure out how to view the enhanced version anymore. I get the sound, but the image does not change. Can anybody please help?
on top of this the new music app in iOS5 keeps crashing and I have to restart the iPad all the time.

Having the same issue except for the crashes. Everything seems to be working, just not the way it used to. The enhanced podcasts were great, the ones that I subscribed to changed the backgrounds often and linked to other sites and gave some great info. Now... Nothing!
I have been reading that everyone is having issues with podcasts and the button to get new episodes, or whatever it was called, and this may just be another glitch. I sure wish they could fix it. I listen to podcasts more that I ever listened to music.

Export Podcast Not Working

I've produced a Podcast in Garageband 3 and have attempted to both send it as a song to iTunes and to export it as a podcast. It goes through the mixdown and encoding, but then it yields absolutely zip - I've done a search on the name that I've saved the podcast under, but it's not showing up on the radar; it's as if the file doesn't exist. Any ideas? I was pretty happy with GB 3 up until this point, now I'm just annoyed.

That article is not entirely true, at least in my circumstance. I found that I needed to update to Tiger to export my LARGE podcast (1:38 hours, 50+ images). I used Spoken Word (since it was a lecture, and wanted to keep size under 50MB) as the setting, but I'm assuming I could have gone higher quality.
I have seen a lot of posts regarding this and I don't know why Apple just doesn't say "You need Tiger" to export big podcasts. There have been endless threads about this and I tried Mono to no avail.
I wonder if the amount of Scratch Disk you have available makes a difference as well. GB3 creates a Mixdown, then Converts the .m4a file in the specified Save location and I'm not sure if you only have a few GB of free space if that may be an issue. BTW, I have about 10GB of free space on my disk and I'm saving to an external LaCie d2 drive.

New Garageband 10 Podcast not Working

After getting over the disappointment that GarageBand 10 no longer makes podcasts, I decided to go ahead and produce a track in GarageBand and then put it on the Podcast page as usual. The link is Knox United, Calgary Alberta: Knox Celebration 2013-10-20. The podcast appears, but the button just spins, obviously looking for somethings. What else do I need to do to make it work?

There is no file at that address.
Incidentally you are in the habit of having spaces in your filenames: the feed is handling this correctly by substituting the code %20, so it isn't a problem, but it's bad practice and better avoided. It doesn't have anything to do with the current problem - the file isn't on the server, at least not at the filename you've put in the feed.

Podcast not working.... NEED HELP!

Hey, I have had my podcast working before but then I didn't use it for like 6 months and now it won't work:(
I use "podcast maker" to upload a video. I submit it and when I go to my podcast in itunes you can see the title has been updated but the video will not play. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Video on podcast not working

I have been using the Apple Podcast app on my iPhone 5. Ever since the upgrade to IOS 7, the videopodcasts I am subscribed to are not showing any video, they just give the audio. When I download the podcast, I can already tell that the size of the podcast is smaller (e.g. 50 MB instead of usual 500 MB). I do get the audio when I play. I have tried deleting the podcast and subscribing again through iTunes, but that doesn't work. Anyone have any tips how I can solve this?

I just discovered the same thing. I deleted another video thinking it was a space issue but, that didn't help. Typical Apple un-customer friendly service. We know best so suck it up and live with how we want it done.

Podcasts not working on Shuffle!!!

Songs downloaded onto my Shuffle always work, but I have just downloaded some LonelyPlanet Travelcasts onto my iPod, and they don't seem to be working because I can't hear anything! The headphones are working fine, and songs play normally, but not the podcasts. But I thought you could play them on your Shuffle!!! Please help!

Podcasts play differently. They work only from the Play In Order position of the power switch, for one thing.
