Podcasts on Apple TV

A while back i was browsing through the available podcasts from the apple tv. I subscribed to a few... I see them in iTunes taking up space but i see no way to remove them in iTunes as they do not show in iTunes. I do not see a way to remove them in the AppleTV interface either... Help!!!

i can confirm that i got the little icon to the right of the downloaded podcasts (in myPodcasts) and was able to delete podcasts downloaded to my appleTV.
you can also right click on the appleTV icon in iTunes and click on transfer purchases and it will remove all downloaded stuff from the appleTV (including podcasts an minus HD movies) and put them on your computer... when you resync they will be streamed and will no longer have the delete option since they no longer reside on the appleTV
i don't see any option for "subscribe" though... only... "add to favourites" or "play" or "download"
i'd do what Meme Infected stated... do a restart press on hold "Menu" and "-"/down button and if that didn't work, do a Setting > Reset Setting > Reset... if that doesn't work then do a factory restore and upgrade... seems like something got futzed up somewhere... you should get the little icon to the right of downloaded podcast to remove them...

  • Can't find my Podcast in Apple Store

I have successfully uploaded the xml-file for my podcast and Apple told me that it has been approved:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=202329789
However, I can't find it in the Apple store using the search butto, neither by using my name "Vornberger" nor by using the title "Algorithmen".

    My apologies, wrong link.
A proper example of said 'promotion .sig' would look like this:
DLMeyer - the Voice of G.L.Horton's Stage Page
They look the same on the page, but this version links directly to our iTunes 'page'
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=175471687
rather than to the supporting site. Part of my point being "they only need to know what you are going to show them, not where you are taking them".

  • Appletv not updating podcasts - has apple sold a product then dropped support after 1 year?  May 2014

appletv not updating podcasts - has apple sold a product then dropped support after 1 yera?  May 2014 - None of the podcasts are being updated on appletv.  Running itunes 11.2 and it shows podcasts there.  Apple looks more like windows every day.

Before blaming Apple, was any troubleshooting actually attempted?  If so, what was done?
Or was it simply easier to jump to conclusions?

  • Getting Podcast off Apple TV

I just bought an Apple TV 160gb, works great but I am not able to figure out how to move a downloaded Podcast that I downloaded onto my Apple TV to my iTunes on my laptop.
I also have a new iTouch that I workout with and I'd like to listen to the Podcast downloaded from the Apple TV on my iTouch also.
    How is this done?
    Thanks, Brad

No easy way to do it.
You could take the AppleTV apart voiding the warranty, remove the HD, stick it in a caddy and see if you can connect it to the Mac to read the files, or you could Google "awkward tv" and see what you come up with. There are advanced hacks that will allow you hacked access but you have to know what you're doing.

  • Newbee: I want to Podcast with Apple - where to start?

    Hi,
I am in a WINDOWS environment trying to give apple technology a chance. At Heilbronn university we want to experiment with podcast technology using apples podcast producer. Blue-eyed I tried to install the Server OS and, as the next step, tried to configure the machine using the "podcast producer administration guide". I failed. E.g. the guide tells me to set up DNS to strange addresses, but only HOW, not WHY. And it doesn't work.
    So I need help:
I have an environment where the server (mac mini) is attached via ethernet (manual DHCP with static IP address) using our university DNS. Our university has its own mail server, its own LDAP Server, etc.
Attachment to LDAP is not needed but I want to use a macbook air to capture the podcasts.
    Where should I start?
    Any help is welcome.
    Best regards,
    Dr. Jörg Winckler

    Guten Tag Jörg!
Your setup is similar to one i've just deployed for a college here in England.
Are you planning on using Podcast Capture or quicktime on the macbook air to capture the podcasts? You have to login to the mac server in order to submit the podcasts, and that requires a user account either standalone on the mac server's openldap, or your university wide LDAP.
The other options depend on exactly what you want to do with your podcasts. You might not need a mail server at all if you're not publishing notifications..
As for DNS, its actually fairly simple. You just need the FQDN of the mac server to be published on the network you will be using to connect to the mac server from the macbook air, and it needs a reverse DNS entry for the same.
I hope this helps, but feel free to ask detailed questions on anything i've missed.
    Thanks,

  • How can I fix getting the error 11111 when submitting a podcast to Apple?

I am starting a new podcast but when I submit the link to Apple through iTunes I get the error 11111.

Hi have been looking at dropbox do you think that this answer below would work??
Force a file or folder to download
Using the new direct link above, you can further modify the URL to force the browser to download the file, rather than handle it natively. To force a file download, append a direct link with ?dl=1. For example:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf
(Note that the URL begins with dl.dropbox.com, as instructed in the section above.)
    Becomes:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf?dl=1
Enter the new URL in the address field of your browser and it should automatically download, instead of open, the file.
    Public folder links
Accounts created before July 31st, 2012 are pre-populated with a Public folder. All the functionality of Public folders (and more) is available from anywhere in your Dropbox by creating a Dropbox link.
The primary difference between Dropbox links and Public links are that unmodified Public links will render in your browser by default rather than open in a preview window on the Dropbox website. If you would rather force the Public link to directly download rather than render in the browser, add ?dl=1 to the end of the URL, as described above.

  • Syncing podcasts on apple tv

I can't get my podcasts on my iPhone (running iOS 7.0.2) to sync properly with my Apple tv running 6.0.  Most show up, but there's always one or missing, and podcasts listened to on my phone still show unplayed on my Apple TV.

I am having the same problem. Syncing is hit or miss (mostly miss in my case). Before upgrading to 6.0 on the Apple TV, I only kept video podcasts as favorites on the Apple TV and subscribed to audio podcasts on iTunes and my iOS devices. Since upgrading the Apple TV to 6.0, my audio podcasts showed up on it perhaps twice. And the ones that do show up, don't seem to be syncing very well. Just as you mentioned, played episodes will still show up as unplayed on one but not the other or not show up at all. It's been an absolute mess and nightmare for me.
Granted I know this is what some consider a "first world problem" but 85% of the use of my Apple TV is for podcasts, so it has turned into a real hassle for me.
I've tried various things in hopes of fixing things, but nothing as of yet has worked.

  • Subscribing to Podcasts from Apple TV

Is there any way to subscribe to podcasts directly from the ATV?
I subscribe to a number of HD video podcasts and watch them with the ATV. I would like to get them to go straight to ATV so I wouldn't have to fill up my computer hard drive with videos that I also have on ATV. I would like to find a way to leave them only on ATV.

It would be nice to subscribe via the Apple TV so that you could spot what you haven't listen to/watched yet, but the direct streaming without downloading/iTunes involvement is very nice.
One thing I still see, the list of available podcasts is not current, which is surprising. For example, Mahalo Daily shows "How to Speak French" as the most current version, but my iTunes subscription shows a more recent one called "How to Propose," which came out last night. It's one day behind. The same is also true of the TWIT show, "Daily Gizwiz." One day behind from the one I have in my iTunes library. You would think Apple would be pulling these lists from the same source as iTunes, but apparently the refresh for the Apple TV version is less frequent than the iTunes refresh. Hopefully this will be corrected soon.

  • Can't subscribe to podcasts through apple app iphone 4s

I downloaded the new Apple Podcasts app.  I am trying to subscribe to some podcasts that interest me however when I touch the subscribe button in the app nothing happens.  I can subsribe to some but not to all, yet all give me the option to subscribe.  For example, I cannot subscribe to either NBC nightly news or ESPN PTI.  I uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  Reset network setting, nothing.  Any suggestions?  Are you only able to subscribe to certain podcasts through the app?
Also, is there is a way when you do subscribe to only keep like the newest 1 or 2.  I want the newest one to replace the current one on my phone.  This will help with clutter and storage space.  Thanks for any advice.

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and sign out of the account. Then log back in using the same Apple ID your used to originally purchase iTunes Match.

  • Podcast in Apple TV shows "Your request could not be completed."

When I go into "Top Podcast" or "Genres" of my Apple TV 2, it says "Your request could not be completed."  What's happened?

I went to apple store at IFC this morning, and it appears that the podcast section is not yet ready for Hong Kong, according to the Genius.  The problem could be solved by setting the "Location" from Hong Kong to US.  Yet another problem that probably follows is that you couldn't play the movies and songs you've purchased on iTunes Hong Kong Store, and you have to switch it back at such occasion.

  • How can I watch video podcasts on Apple TV?

On my computer, podcasts are a major headline on the standard menu. On Apple TV, they don’t seem to be part of the menu. How can I find them?
    Thank you for your help!
PS. My reason for asking is I’d love to have my TV show a video of beautiful scenery – as if I had the greatest natural beauty just outside that big “window” in my living room. Videos like that seem not to be available for sale. They’re only available as free podcasts. Fine, but on my Apple TV I can't find any downloaded podcasts. Are there any other ways I can see uncut, peaceful videos of natural beauty?

    Thank you Jeff,
I’ve found a much better way to watch relaxing nature videos. I’ve set up a Vimeo account and accessed it for my Apple TV.
For some reason, there are no relaxing nature videos on iTunes. I can’t really imagine why. They are for sale many other places on the internet. And the ones to buy are much better than the free podcasts.
Instead of buying them on Amazon and then accessing them through my home network I buy them on Video On Demand (VOD) on Vimeo. They are not cheap, but they are great. And I can watch them, no problem, on my Apple TV. I’ve now been on long walks along Thai beaches, watched the sun set and rise over the Pacific, sailed down a river in a mangrove jungle and the like. Just what I wanted. Perfect to have in the background on the TV while working on the computer.

  • HD podcasts for Apple TV

OK, so we all are still waiting for the day that Apple is going to offer HD content on the iTunes Store. Anyhow, while you are waiting for that, you can check out a compilation of over 100 HD podcasts that I have compiled on my site.
It is at http://hd.appletvsource.com . I started this back on the beginning of May when I was just so frustrated with not being able to find any HD content to play on my supposedly "HD only" Apple TV. The list grew and grew over the months. I am still updating the list weekly.
I highly recommend BeautifulPlaces.TV and Missing Pages (amended). Once you've watched some of these HD podcasts on your 52" LCD hanging on the wall, you'll finally understand why you bought the Apple TV in the first place.

This is awesome, thanks so much. I've been looking for HD podcasts and it's so hard to hunt them down. Very cool.

  • Enhanced Podcasts on Apple TV

Does Apple TV support Enhanced Podcast content? (I.e, audio podcasts that have photo/graphics content embedded when viewed on iphone/ipod touch). I can listen to the audio on Apple TV but it doesn't diplay the embedded photos on the TV.

After checking out the history of photography, I see it uses a double text track with photo-jpeg track for the photos, this is a similar format for chapter markers on itunes movies, chapter markers are accessed via the up button on the remote, so the possibility that photos could be seen by a back door method isn't possible anyway because the up button already has a function for audio files on the tv.
In short no you can't see the photos I'm afraid.
