Podcasts play with echo on iPhone 3gs

When I play podcasts from my iphone 3gs, they have an echo. The echo is ONLY with the podcasts - the music and videos play just fine. When I listen to the podcasts in Itunes on my MacBook, they are fine, no echo.
Any suggestions to remove the echo? Thank you.

I had the same problem. My speed was set at 0.5. Change it to 1X. This is directly below and on the far right of the scroll bar that shows how much of the podcast you have listened to. Somehow I must have touched it while it was in my pocket. I needed to press the button on the top right before I put it in my pocket to shut down the screen so that nothing could be changed.
The folks at the Apple Store told me the 0.5 setting is useful when the reader of an audiobook is reading too fast.

You can continue to use the same account, and if you want to you can copy the same apps and other purchased content onto it, or you can have different content

simply try doing a back up and restore
when going thru the activation screen, select SET UP AS NEW and then test your device. if it is not shutting down then it could be 1 or more apps tht have been downloaded wch could be affecting the device
you will then need to follow the process of eleimnation, meaning add 2 apps and then monitor your phone, if nothing happes then add another couple of them and then check

All podcasts sound slow and and a played with echos after upgrading to 3.0

Hi everybody, after I upgraded to 3.0, all my voice files (e.g. podcasts) are played slowly and with echos. I reset the device to factory settings and re-synched (this took almost two hours), and the effect is still there. The sound files are OK if I play them from itunes. Did anybody else meet this phenomenon? Can I downgrade to solve it? Any advice is welcome.

Sounds like you have the additional podcast control set to play at 1/2 speed. Tap the now playing screen to bring up the controls and tap the playback speed control under the right end of the scrubber bar until it turns white and reads 1X.

Podcast playlist not synced to iPhone 3gs, 3.1 iTunes 9

I have a manual playlist that I drag podcasts into so I can just listen to them all from start to finish without having to select and play each podcast. It's been working fine with all my iPods and my iPhone, until iTunes 9.
I drag the podcasts into the playlist. They are there and I can play them fine on my Mac. But the playlist isn't listed on the iPhone "Music" tab to select and sync. So doesn't sync. It does sync to my Nano 4g.
I hope this is a bug that will be fixed. I actually deleted the playlist and created a new one. It's NOT a smart playlist.
Has anyone else run into this? I'd love to know if it is working for someone.
iPhone 3GS, OS 3.1 iTunes 9. BTW all the podcasts play fine from the poecasts page on the iPod. I just don't like to have to manually play each podcast. Especially since so many are rather short.

I've managed to find a work around.
I subscribe to several podcasts and had a smart playlist ("media_kind = podcast" as the filter). The playlist was fine in iTunes, present on my iPod (120G Classic) but empty. Just started happening with upgrade to iTunes 9. This same configuration has worked fine for at least 1 year. Same MBP, same iPod....(I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard too)
I played around with the filter, switched it to "genre=podcast"....same thing. Seems ok in iTunes, won't sync with iPod.
I solved it by changing my smart playlist to use "Album contains <podcast_name>". I toggled the playlist to use "any" of the rules and then just added each podcast by name to the smart playlist. Now when I sync with my iPod, all the podcasts show up on the iPod in that playlist.
For smart playlists, it seems to matter which rules you use to create them. Some of the attributes don't work (media-kind, genre) don't work, others (like Album) work ok. I haven't tried all the applicable ones. Once I got it working, I stopped testing.

No, I did not find a way to fix it. Went to Apple store to be told that the phone is dead and I would need to purchase a new phone. A little frustrated with the fact that it is Apple who caused the phone to not work!

PLEASE help with back up iphone 3gs to windows 7? cant find files!

Can someone PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! I am at my wits end with this. I have an Iphone 3GS with softare 3.1.3 . I am trying to back up my contacts/calendar/apps so I can download the newer software version 5 and so I can get a new Iphone 4S.
As I have window 7, when I sync my device. It chooses to sync Contacts to 'Windows Contacts' and Calendar to 'Outlook' and Bookmarks to 'Internet Explorer' and Notes to 'Outlook'
I do not use Outlook but have it on this laptop. However when I looked at it to find my iphone calendar and notes, they are not there.
Also I cannot locate my Contacts anywhere on my laptop
They are not in Users/(username)/ apps
as I dont have a folder under user name that is called Apps!
Any help would be much appreciated from anyone

Help with syncing an iPhone 3GS running iOS5 to a new MBA running Lion

Just got a new MacBook Air running Lion (10.7.2) and I thought I'd sync my iPhone 3GS (Running iOS5.0.1) to it.
I have an iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and my 3GS is currently synced with that. (Both running iTunes 10.5.2)
Whenever I plug my iPhone in a hit sync, it doesn't do anything. If I tick Sync Music/Apps etc. it says that all music/apps will be erased on my iPhone and replaced with the ones on the MBA. There aren't even any on the MBA. And when I tick the "Sync Apps" the iPhone homepage layout changes/deletes some Apps which worries me so I haven't actually tried syncing after clicking it (I've spent hours getting my homepage set up correctly after restoring...I really don't want that on Christmas...).
So what shall I do? Try syncing anyway? I bet this wouldn't happen if it was running Snow Leopard! I'm pretty sure it should ask to copy all the songs and stuff across and then beg for authorization, which I did before even trying to sync.
Also, is there a way to deauthorize computers remotely? I have 4 out of 5 authorized, I only want my iMac and MBA.

When I got my iMac, I synced to it with no problem (This was October 2010). Did they stupidly change this now? So, firstly I can't merge my iTunes account with my old MobileMe account, now this? This is getting ridiculous. What next? YouTube decide to completely rearrange the channel layout so you can hardly make it look how you want?
This new concept of Apple is terrible and doesn't make sense. I thought everything's supposed to be in sync? Mac OS was so much better when I was using a PC. Now I think I'd rather go back to PC.

Playing with find my iphone

I installed find my iphone on my 4s ios6, and it found my MBP with 10.7. It was looking for my ipad but it was turned off. A couple questions though
Why wasnt it looking for my Imac? What OSX do I need on my Imac for it to work? I assume newer than what I have, but along that logic why was it looking for my ipad which i think barely has ios5. Why wasnt it looking for my Imac which is running 10.6
Also playing with it, I pressed "lock" for my MBP and it gave a warning about "a locked mac cant be wiped." I wanted to see what the process would be. Can I easilly unlock the MBP with my pin I entered in FMIp? That warning made me not want to procede (im a chicken)

If you're running Lion I believe you should be able to use Find my Mac, at least, I have my Lion MBP setup. Here are the step instructions for the Mac:
Set up Find My iPhone on a Mac
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.If you’re asked to sign in, enter your Apple ID, or if you don’t have one, click “Create an Apple ID,” then follow the instructions that appear.
Select the Find My Mac checkbox, then confirm that you want to allow Find My iPhone to use the location of this Mac.Tip: For added security, make sure your user account requires a password and that automatic login is turned off in Users & Groups preferences. For more information, choose Help > System Preferences Help.
And with regards to seting the passcode Apple says this:
"Important: If you lock your Mac, you may no longer be able to use Find My iPhone to locate it, and you won’t be able to erase it remotely. Also, if you forget your passcode, or if you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then remotely lock it and later find it, you may need to take it to an authorized repair center to unlock it."
So... Locking the device would make it impossible to do a remote wipe. But, if you were to find the Mac, you could simply enter in the passcode you created and the device will unlock and you can continue using it without any issues.
