Podcasts require 2nd Sync to Copy Correctly

iphone 5, latest version of itunes on win7
Since around Oct/Nov 2013 i've had an issue where I will have to perform a sync TWICE on my machine in order to get podcasts to correctly copy over to my phone.
I've since rebuilt my computer and the issue is still occurring.
Itunes yields no errors during the synching process, but when i check on the device, the podcasts are not listed, requiring a second sync to finally show up on the device.
Has anyone else experienced this issue??  Its getting very irritating, and almost enough that i'm considering moving my stuff over to Downcast.

My iPod Touch was not syncing with the podcasts already downloaded on iTunes.
I resolved the issue by turning off subscriptions in the Podcast app portion of the iPod device Settings, then syncing with iTunes again.
Could it be there is a syncing conflict between the two devices?

I-tunes can no longer 'locate' my library , after a botched cut & paste attempt to back-up onto an external drive.Cant play any music as it "can't find" the library  Still syncing with i-Pod but playlists lost , podcasts no longer syncing.   How to restore back to original state . I have tried re-installing  - with no change

I do the same thing as you do...
My music is on an external drive as to not use up gigabytes of storage that need not be used for media.
There are a couple basic principles to iTunes that I believe you should know.
    1. iTunes is not a media storage program. It does not store your media "in iTunes". It simply is an organization tool for your media already on a hard disk.
    2. As iTunes is not a storage mechanism, it has no way to "know" whether or not the media that is listed is actually there. This is where the "design" of iTunes comes into play.
I like to think of iTunes as a bread-crumb trail. The "music" in iTunes, isn't actually there. The bread crumb is the location on the external hard drive.
If that bread crumb trail disappears (in this case the external drive you use). If said external drive is not plugged in, that bread crumb trail is not able to be followed. iTunes is "lost" and unable to find the media. The only way to remedy this is to place the media on your local drive.
To address your issue of the library. If you hold down shift, you can select your library on your external drive. It will be a file with an .itl extension. The folder name will be your external drive.
I go into edit > preferences > advanced and set my library to the correct location. Make sure you check the box "Copy to iTunes Folder when importing" (or whatever it says).
You can't fix the issue of iTunes not seeing the media if your drive is unplugged unless you physically move the content to your OS HDD...Or any other HDD you use.

  • Podcasts won't sync to the podcast portion of the built in Music App on my iPod Touch.  How do I fix this?

Ever since I downloaded the new Apple Podcast App my Podcasts that I subscribe to in iTunes have not worked correctly.   I have deleted the Apple Podcast App because it does not work well and I'd rather have the functionality with Podcasts that the sync from iTunes to the built in Music App has.  However, now I can't get the podcasts I subscribe to to show up in the original app.  My iTunes says that all the podcasts are being synced and it is checked to sync them and even the data storage indicator bar at the bottom shows the amount of space being taken up as if the podcasts did sync but when I go into my iPod Touch in the music app they are not there.  How do I fix this?  Thanks!

What you're really doing is trying to create a new icloud account using an ID that is not currently associated with a user's account.  A device can only do this a fixed number of times (3 or 5, don't remember), after which you must use a different device or computer to create the account.

  • Why will video podcasts no longer sync to my ipod?

I used to be able to watch video podcasts on my iPod nano (5th generation).  Then, one day it stopped syncing them to the iPod.  I think an error message came up saying that my iPod didn't support the videos anymore (something about HD).  I assumed that the video podcast had switched to a higher definition podcast, but the video quality appears to be the same when I play them on my computer.  What's more confusing is that when I check which podcasts are being synced, the video podcasts still say they are being added to the device, but they never show up.  Furthermore, I try draging the file manually to the iPod, but nothing happens (not even an error message saying I can't copy that file to the device).

I think so.  I'm pretty sure I've updated 2 versions of iTunes since it stopped working.  I don't remember if one of those updates was right when it stopped working or not.

  • Some podcasts won't sync to iPhone

Got a iphone 3GS running 4.0 iOS and when i synced my iPhone to the iTunes, some of the podcasts wouldn't sync. ALL the podcasts are the same format! all are mp4. I double checked. I have no idea why they won't sync. Any ideas?

Interesting... I'd be curious to know whether other subscribers to the podcast experience any similar issues. Regarding the situation with playback on the computer, I'd suggest checking to make sure your computer meets iTunes' system requirements, in terms of processor speed and RAM. To locate this information on your machine, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. The details of the requirements can be located by going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
If you meet the system requirements, I'd attempt a clean reinstall:
Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
    Remove these applications:
    1. Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3. iPod for Windows (may or may not be there, either way is fine)
    4. iTunes
    5. QuickTime
    Restart the computer
Download & Install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the Utility: Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up
Select any of the above mentioned applications, and click Remove
    Restart the computer again
Download & install iTunes again from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If this still does not resolve the issue, you could update your video drivers on the computer via your Device Manager, or by consulting the website for your PC's manufacturer.
You might also want to unsubscribe/resubscribe to the podcast, which should afford you the option to re-download the episodes. If and when you do this, temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall software to avoid any possible interferences that might be causing you issue.
Regarding the episodes that will not sync to the iPod, you could try right clicking on the file and choosing the option to Convert Selection for iPod. This ought to give you two copies of the file in iTunes... then connect the iPod to sync it, and see if the episode syncs to the iPod.

  • Podcasts no longer sync at all

Hi, I am really at the end of my wits on this. I am currently using a 3rd gen 32GB iTouch, and at the beginning all was beautiful with podcasts - I had set it up so that I subscribed to about 5 or 6 of them in iTunes, and they automatically downloaded the latest ep to my Pc, and whenever I connected my iTouch to the PC, iTunes would copy over any unplayed podcasts, and delete the played ones on my iTouch.
Well, not anymore, one day, it stopepd syncing properly. I have tried unsubscribing and resubscibing to podcasts to no avail, theres unplayed podcasts in iTunes, just sitting there, and they wont copy over to my iTouch. I have to manually drag and delete every podcast now, both in iTunes and on my iTouch becasue all of the automatic managing features seem to be borked.
Am I doing something wrong or is this just an unfixable bug? My apps seem to sync just fine, its just the **** podcasts that dont sync at all.

Rameken, do you have these podcasts in a special playlist? I had the same problem and tried everything I could think of to fix it. Eventually, I noticed a new (I think) checkbox that fixed it for me. I'm assuming (dangerous! <G>) that iTunes for Macs and Windows are similarly set up. Here's what fixed the problem for me:
    1. connect your iPod Touch to your computer
    2. click on the name of your Touch in the left-hand pane
    3. click on the Podcasts tab in the right-hand pane
    4. scroll down past the list of podcasts and episodes
    5. under "Include Episodes from Playlists" check off the name(s) of the playlist(s) you want to appear on your Touch
    6. sync
I hope that works for you as it did for me! Good luck!

  • Old and new video podcasts no longer sync and play

Since updating Itunes and software on my Ipod classic, the ipod no longer plays video podcasts. I know there was a problem with newer podcasts in HD and so on, but even the old format doesn't play.
    can anyone help?

In your subject heading you say the Podcasts do not sync. Are you saying they don't play +because they have not synced?+
If so, when you plug your iPod into your computer, check the settings on the Podcasts pane/tab. Are they still set the way you want them? Software upgrades have been know to cause these settings to be changed.

  • Podcasts cannot be synced

In iTunes I deleted a podcast some time ago.  Now when I try to sync my iPod I get a msg 'Podcasts on the iPod cannot be synced because all of the podcasts selected for syncing no longer exist.  I guess when I deleted the podcasts they were still showing as selected.  I cannot find them now to de-select.
Can anyone help me fix this?

Fixed this by re-downloading pre-existing podcasts and now sync does work.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

  • Podcasts no longer sync and remember position.  Any solutions?

Since installing Yosemite on one imac (older) and buying a new imac retina (using Yosemite) my podcasts no longer sync between devices.  Before Yosemite, if I played a podcast on my iPhone as soon as I opened my imac/itunes the podcast was set at where I left off.  It was great.
Now, it does not do this at all.  Is there some trick or a preference file to delete/start over or did they really disable this feature?
    Thanks.

I updated my iPod Touch to 6.0.1. -- after much prompting from iTunes. Now my music is GONE (along with apps, photos and podcasts). After syncing a bunch of times some of it came back, but not all of it. How odd is that? How can I get my music back?? I'm really bummed! Everything shows in iTunes, but it's not synching right. So glad I updated. NOT.

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.
