Podcasts: Restricted access authentication required?

Whenever I try to access my podcasts, it asks for restricted access authentication. I've never given the information required and iTunes crashes when the information is not given. How do I get rid of the Authenticator? Or alternately, how do I simply access my iTunes without it crashing?
Any help would be great appriciated, I've been trying for days to work around it.
FYI: iTunes is on a windows 7 OS.

Authentication Required in library/podcasts

Since the iTunes update 11.1.4.62, when I go to Library/Podcasts, I get a pop up window that says "Authentication Required - To access this site, you need to log in to area "Protedted" on www.Imaps.net" there is a space for username and password then it states "password will be sent in the clear". I don't have a username or password for Imaps.net and don't know what that could be. Before the update, I did not see this pop up when I went to Library/Podcasts. When I cancel the pop up window, iTunes locks up. I have to go to task manager to end task. I don't have problems in Library/Music or Apps or Movies, etc., just Podcasts. So, how can I get rid of this pop up window (since I don't know what username or password to enter) and stop iTunes from locking up? I must say that I am not very technologically oriented, so there may be a simple solution...I just don't know it.

That sounds extremely phishy to me... iTunes does not require authentication simply to launch it. I suspect you've got something nasty intercepting network traffic. That server may be set up to log the Apple ID that you enter so it can be used fraudulently. Try ComboFix from Bleeping Computer.
FWIW the domain mellor.co is registered to an accountants in Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, and produces the same authentication request if visited with a browser. There is no sign of a "real" publicly visible website at that domain which is a somewhat odd.

Hi,
According to the log, it seems that TMG firewall denied the request and replied with an HTTP 407 response, indicating that proxy authentication was required. This was done because the Forefront TMG firewall did not have any access rules which would allow
the anonymous request. Please check if you have configured related access rules.
When did you recieve this log? Is there anyting wrong? Which authentication method you have used, Kerberos, NTLM or other?
It seems that each time a web proxy client requests a resource through a Forefront TMG firewall that requires NTLM authentication the client is actually denied twice during the transaction before being successfully authenticated and allowed access. When
the Forefront TMG firewall is configured to use Kerberos there is only a single denied request and HTTP 407 response and then contact a domain controller and obtain a Kerberos ticket to present to the TMG firewall to gain access to the resource.
If you configured the TMG clients with a certain proxy name, please make sure you typed the TMG's domain computer name only (not IP address nor alias).

Podcast authentication required, but I don't have podcasts

I don't subscribe to any podcasts. I only use itunes to synch with my ipad. But ever since updating to 12.0.1.26, every time I open itunes, I get this password request: 'Podcast authentication required'. It says I must log on to www.mevio.com.
I have NO podcasts and want none. I don't want to have to click Close on the dialog every time I use itunes.
How can I get rid of the dialog for good?

I searched my C: drive for all files containing the string "mevio.com". I found plenty, including:

Restricting access using groups pulled from OID Authenticator

Using the OID Authenticator provider, can access to WLS be limited to those ldap registered users who belong to a specific group (as specified in ldap) ?
I have setup an oid authenticator provider which works in terms of WLS authentication. By looking in AdminServer.log I can see that a users group is picked up however, I'd like to use the group name to restrict access. Is this possible if specif param's in the oid authenticator are used ?

ASA Remote Access Authentication with LDAP Server

I am configuring an ASA to authenticate with a ldap server for ipsec vpn access. My customer has 3 networks that are to be accessed by remote users. However they want to be able to say that one user can get to 2 of the networks and not the 3rd. So basically they want control over what network behind the firewall each user can access. This seems doable from my reading and I had planned to creating a group for each network that needs accessible and either do attribute maps to each group with a separate group created on the ldap server for authentication. Basically a ldap group on the ldap server that will have the users name in the group in order for access. I can restrict access via acl's or filtering to force my group to only be allowed access to a specific network. Here is the problem I am having now.
The ldap server has been created and seems to be working fine. I have created my AAA groups and servers and I have done the ldap test with a test user vpntest and a password on the ldap server. When I run the authentication test from the ADSM or command line I get a good authentication successful message. So I configured a vpn client remotely and attempted to authenticate to this group and it says there is no user by that name. Below is a paste of the debug. The second part is when I did a successful test from the ASDM or CLI and it worked great. The first part is when I attempted from the vpn client. It all looks the same from the search criteria. What am I missing here or does anyone more knowledgeable see anything that I am doing wrong. Can this be done this way or should I try radius. The customer was just adament about using ldap.

Anyone know how to remove a pesky "Authentication Required" box?

I visited (shame on me!!) a tasteful but adult-oriented art photo site and by mistake clicked on a content link which required a "member subscription" to view. My system attempted to use iTunes to open the file, and it threw an "Authentication Required" nag box on the screen. The box continues, "To access this site, you need to log in to area 'Members_Only' on _____________.com. Your password will be sent in the clear.", followed by fill-in boxes for the Name and Password.
Now, I have never gone back to that site, yet almost each time I launch iTunes, I get this box, and I actually have to cancel out of it about 15 times in rapid succession before it will disappear from the screen and let the iTunes application display my music browser. Is there a preference cache file that I can trash to get rid of this, without losing any other valuable settings, like my iTunes online store registration info?

It sounds like iTunes is still trying to access or download something form that site. Let iTunes finish opening. click cancel on the dialog and check the iTunes library, podcasts and other folders.playlists for the unwanted content. Delete it when you find it.

Creating a restricted access page.

I need to create a restricted access page within my website, so that a username and password are required to access. The Dreamweaver instructions ask me to go to the Server Behaviors panel (Window > Server Behaviors), click the plus button and choose User Authentication > Restrict Access To Page. However, the Server Behaviors panel does not provide me with an available plus button to choose. What can I do about this?

CC is the current version of DW. It was released this year and Server Behaviors were removed from it because they are outdated. Before that was CS6, CS5.5, and CS5. CS4 was released in Fall of 2008.
Password Protecting a page or folder on your server can usually be done very quickly through your remote server's Admin or C-Panel.
Or if your host server is Linux, you could do it with just 2 files: .htaccess and .htpasswd

So the answer to your question is a mixture of both yes and no, depending on the level of restriction you desire.
VSO has deep integration with Azure Active Directory, which allows you to restrict access to your Visual Studio Online account to only users who exist in your corporate directory.
This page details more about this support and how to enable it. If you remove users from your Azure AD directory (which can be synced with your on-prem directory), they will lose access to your Visual Studio Online account automatically, without you
having to manually remove them from the account. Will that fulfill your requirements?
We currently don't support a scenario where only users who are connecting to Visual Studio Online from a corporate network are permitted to access your account. If that's something you need, we recommend an on premise deployment of Team Foundation Server.

Client certificate authentication falls into the same bucket as above: Visual Studio Online doesn't support client certificate authentication. There's a

HT1992 Proxy Authentication Required . What is this?

In the last 2 months, a strange massage began to pop for some websites I'm trying to visit. Is there someone who knows what to do with it? I can't think about something that might have cause it... I can't visit these websites.
It says:
Proxy Authentication Required
Authentication for HTTP proxy . . . . . .
and then Username and Password are need to be filled.
Please Help..

I'm going to assume that you are not managing and not running OS X Server here. While it's possible to set up a proxy server with OS X Server (with some added configuration work), your question seems to be specific to a client web browser configuration.
With an OS X client request from a web browser such as Safari or Firefox, the HTTP 407 Proxy Authentication Required messages usually indicate something that's been implemented by the local site administration or local network management. This can be a way to cache web content and also as a way to track and/or to restrict access to specific web sites.
If you're on a school or a corporate network or similar, please check with the IT organization for assistance here; with the folks that manage the network.
If you're on your own network here (and not using OS X Server or some other web proxy), then this might be something weird with some local nanny filter installed in your gateway, or with some ISP web proxy outside your local network — more details on your network would be useful here.
Here are some technical details of the HTTP 401 and 407 authentication mechanisms.

We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required

Error simply says administrator access is required to install. The apps have already been installed. The users cannot run them unless they are in the local admin group.Using "Run as admin" does not work. It gives the same error.
I have opened a case with adobe support and was basically told to suck it up and put the users in the admin group. Actually, what was said was that it is "mandated that the users have administrative rights".
There are a couple of things wrong with this. It was working for both users until recently - a recent required creative cloud update. The users have never been local admins yet the apps were working (poorly, but working).
We are in an enterprise environment and users simply do not have administrative rights on the computers.
I have changed permissions on all adobe folders, granting users or authenticated users modify or full control rights, did the same in whatever Adobe registry HKLM keys I could find. Nothing has allowed the users to run the apps - unless they are put in the local admin group.
Someone has to have a fix for this. Adobe apps have proved to have far too many vunerabilities to even entertain the idea of elevating user rights. I can't imagine that enterprise environments are allowing this.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. The users in question are "standard" domain users. We do not reduce users permissions below the standard level.
The apps do not load with their current standard user permissions.
The thing that makes this odd, is that up until recently they did this issue with cloud apps. The only way I can make it work for them now is to put them in the local administrator group on their pc's - which is not going to happen.
This is what they now see. As I said before, this was not a problem up until recently they would see all their available apps. If I put them in the local admin group the apps are listed without having to install. Everything is there, just not accessible to the user.

I am getting a printer message "on hold, Authentication required" when directly connected (USB) to any printer I try to install to my MacBook Pro. Any ideas?

I am having trouble with printing from my MacBook Pro. After succesfully installing a printer, sending a print job results in a alert in the print que that says "on hold Authentication Required"

After upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion on one of our home computers and having no difficulty with printer access for months, after a glitch involving loss of power, suddenly "On hold (authentication required)" started showing up.
When I deleted the printer and then tried to add it back using the default listing for the printer I got the message "Unable to download the software from the server at this time." I felt I was going backwards. The whole situation was maddening for a couple of days.
Details:
Older G5 Desktop Mac running OSX Snow Leopard wth an HP Color LaserJet 2550 attached via USB.
Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro running OSX Mountain Lion.
Airport WiFi network.
This is really two problems: how to add a printer successfully and how to print without authentication.
How to add a printer
Do not use the default listing for adding the printer that shows up in the popup menu, instead use the generic "Add printer" command, then select the printer and printer type from the secondary menu that comes up. This worked fine for me.
How to avoid the "Authentication required"
Software update on both machines.
Reset printing system (Option & minus "-" key) on both systems.
Add the printer back to the server (older G5 Mac in my case) system.
Ensure that both the printer sharing is selected for the printer and …
… that printer sharing is turned on globally in the Sharing System Preferences
Add the printer back to the client system
I was also able to work this through the CUPS system described in other posts (http://localhost:631) but I always prefer to let Mac OSX handle the UNIX details since I have greater confidence I won't be inadvertantly messing something up.

Restricted access to attachments in SRM 7.0 web applications

We have a very specific problem regarding the handling of attachments with SRM 7.0 web applications. The system is configured to use ArchiveLink for storing documents on a remote content server, which is working fine.
Now we have a requirement which should restrict access to certain documents to specific user groups. As an example you could say that a Purchase order has (besides others) two documents attached, e.g.
- signed contract
- meeting minutes
The contract should only be visible to a limited number of people, whereas the Meeting Minutes are accessible to everybody.
Our problem is that apparently only one Content Category ("BBPFILESYS") is used by the SRM web applications for an upload. When granting authorizations on this content category, we cannot distinguish between contracts and meeting minutes anymore.
Comparing this with the config in ECC we can freely define document types which can be used in AUTH profiles. Is there any similar solution that can be used in SRM 7.0?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I get rid of "Authentication Required" all the time?

In Firefox ONLY at certain sites (perhaps Google sites) a dialog box pops up and at the top it says, "Authentication Required" and I can type in any of my Google log-ins and click OK and it goes away FOR A TIME. It keeps popping up as I am browsing. There is usually a line pertaining to mail delivery. I can't seem to capture the dialog box in order to send it to you. Now that I would like to show you what it says I can't make it appear.

There is no "switch" to turn off Private Browsing. A "hack" was posted in this forum for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 versions a number of times, but Firefox 4.0 has that file that needs to be hacked is inside the omni.jar file which makes accessing the file that controls PB a lot more difficult. Plus, the hack will probably be gone the next time Firefox is updated with a new omni.jar file.
