Podcasts subscription linked to iTunes ID and not iCloud ID?

I have resisted using the Podcasts app since it came it. It seemed buggy and having iTunes on my Mac manage podcasts worked just fine for me. I'd plug my iPhone in every morning to sync. It synced great. It also worked great for my wife and her iPhone and Mac. More importantly, it keep our subscriptions separate.
Now, with iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7 Apple is forcing us to use the Podcasts app. However, it appears Podcasts syncs via your iTunes account and not the account associated with iCloud. We have separate iCloud accounts so iMessage, documents, etc. are kept separate. But we share an iTunes account so we can share music, apps, etc.
So it now appears my only options are to manage Podcasts solely on my iPhone and not sync with iTunes or use a different app for podcasts. Am I missing something?

Did you ever figure out a solution for this? My wife and I have the same issue. We share the same iTunes library for our music, but it's so annoying to share our Podcasts. Among many annoyances, for podcasts we both like, the first person to listen ends up marking a podcast as played, so the other may never see it.

I have been subscribing to Mad Money on CNBC for years. I have always been able to download the podcast with video. Now the podcast is only downloading the audio portion only. Is there something that I am doing now or do I need to click something?

As others have posted elsewhere, CNBC (in their infinite wisdom) opted to drop the video. Of course that renders the podcast of little use, especially when Cramer gets into anything on charts. In fact, the Tuesday shows were the ones I made a point of watching for that very reason.

You say your phone will not sync but then you say, "when it does sync."
Does it sync or not? Did you remember to select music to sync onto your phone before clicking on Apply or Sync?
You do have to have iTunes on your computer in order to sync your phone. And your music must be in iTunes.

If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Just to confirm, you are logged into the iTunes Store using the account in which the balance exists, and the balance is showing at the top of the iTunes Store window? And you're not trying to purchase gifts for someone else?

Yes, provided all the media is inside the iTunes Media folder, which is in turn inside the main iTunes folder (which is the standard arrangement) you should be able to move the iTunes folder from <User's Music> to any other path and shift-start-Tunes (option-start-iTunes on a Mac) to reconnect to it.
If the media folder has split out to another drive in the past, or media is stored outside of the iTunes Media folder, then things get a bit more complicated. I can go into details should it be necessary.

you can connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode:
Hold down the Home button and the Power button simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off.
Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.
After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device
and restore it to default settings, in order to remove your password (or just remove your password directly from the iPod touch, in order to sync with iTunes)

As I already said, you have to create an iCloud account on an iOS device or Mac. If you don't have one, you can't create and iCloud account. Apple states this on the page you downloaded the iCloud control panel from (iCloud Control Panel 3.1 for Windows), where it says:
"Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."

Because your operating system is too old. iCloud was introduced in Mac OS X 10.7.4 and later. You can upgrade through the Mac App Store. The latest version is Mac OS X 10.9.3 and is free if your Mac is capable of running it (late 2007 IMac's and newer).

After a clean install of Yosemite 10.10.3 on a MacBook Pro, I chose not to upgrade from iCloud to iCloud Drive because it would break syncing with my iPhone 4. My docs are still visible in iCloud, according to System Preferences. I can access them on my iPad but I not from my MacBook Pro. Calendars and Contacts sync ok.
I tried logging out of iCloud, rebooting and logging back in, but that did not remedy the problem.
What's gone wrong?
