Podcasts subscriptions disappearing 2 weeks in a row

This is the 2nd Monday morning in a row where all my podcasts subscriptions mysteriously disappeared.
On my run I tried to listen to Sunday evenings Twit podcast and all my podcasts are gone! Again! I get back home,
sit at my Mac Book Pro and all my podcasts are gone, too! Again! Just like last Monday!
NPR, Coverville, Twit, and others ... vaporized.
So, I go back to the iTunes store via the Mac Book Pro and resubscribe, Again.
Odd, when I click subscribe the button in iTunes for a podcast it doesn't indicate 'subscribed' it still
indicates 'subscribe' though the podcast is added to my podcast library, where I have to go in and tweak the settings, Again.
I check my Apple iOS podcast app and there back, too.
In the press, that Apple is having podcast issues.
Is this one of them?
Any resolutions?
Thanks in advance,
OS X 10.9.3, iTunes 11.2.2, iOS 7

Yesterday about 8 podcast subscriptions disappeared.
Meanwhile, Men In Blazers keeps downloading several years of content.

  • Podcast subscriptions disappearing

This is the second time this has happened now and I'm getting massively ****** off.
I start up iTunes, and the podcast link has disappeared from the sidebar, all my music is 'missing', so I get iTunes to search for media. It finds my music and podcasts I have but if I am subscribed to a podcast and did not have any podcasts saved on my computer then it no longer shows up and I have to subscribe to it again.
Why does this keep happening? I can't see the point in subscribing to podcasts through iTunes if it keeps chucking them every few weeks

So after the subscriptions disappeared yesterday, I resubscribed to Democracy Now! and Bill Moyers Journal.
This morning, I went to check iTunes... and two of the subscriptions were gone -- AGAIN! And the episode of Democracy Now! that remained behind was now listed under real Tim with Bill Maher.
I'm getting so frustrated with this... why am I having to re-subscribe to podcasts every day now?

  • Podcast subscriptions disappear Itunes 12

Most of my Podcast subscriptions have disappeared.  This has happened more than once recently. As suggested in another post, I've tried importing from the ITunes Media library but that seems to have done nothing.
    What's causing this?
How do I recovery my subscriptions?
How do I stop it happening again?
Running ITunes 12 fully up-to-date as of 16 Nov 2014 on Windows 7 fully up-to-date. Syncing with Iphone6.

Please always post the URLs of the Store page and the feed when you have a question. For reference, your feed is at

and the Store page is at

Looking at the Store page, the image appears there perfectly well. On subscribing there is no image associated with the episodes because you haven't embedded an image in the files - please see this page for clarification:

  • ITunes stopps updating podcast subscriptions

    Hello!
I use iTunes for a long time now to subscribe and archive podcasts, even though mostly I listen to them on my iPhone these days.
So far everything worked fine, but a few weeks ago I noticed, that iTunes stopped the automatic update of some podcasts. These subscriptions were marked with a little exclamation mark. When I clicked that I got the following message meaning in English "iTunes stopped the automatic update of this podcast, because you didn't listen to an episode recently. Do you wish to continue automatic update of this podcast?".
Since I normaly listen to podcasts these day on my iPhone and use iTunes mainly to archive some podcasts I like (some of them go back almost 8 years now on my hard drive) it can happen that I don't listen to episodes on my computer for weeks. But I still wish iTunes to update and download the latest episodes of some subscriptions in the background without me having to think about it.
Now since I noticed this behaviour after about two months it caused me some trouble since I missed downloading some episodes that are not anymore in the feeds :-(
Anyway, is there a way to stopp iTunes from doing that? Of course I answered the above question with "Yes" but now a few weeks later I noticed iTunes again stopping to update one of the podcasts.
Maybe this behaviour was added with the best intentions but it is very annoying if it can't be turned off. So far I didn't find an option for that in the settings, is there one in iTunes for that?
    Thanks and greetings!

iTunes will stop updating a podcast subscription if you have more than five episodes downloaded but not listened to, as detailed in this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23353
    which states:
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.
There is an AppleScript available which will apparently deal with this (I've not tried it):

  • Podcast subscriptions vanished

I have a bunch of podcast subscriptions in itunes on my pc. I tried to sync them to my iphone for the first time and because I had very few on my iphone somehow it deleted all my subscriptions that wasn't on my iphone from itunes and now I don't know how to get them all back. I've tried restoring an old libary file my from itunes directory but that still isn't bringing them all back. Any suggestions on how to restore all my subscriptions? Also how do I keep the iphone from overriding itunes. Thanks

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

  • Are podcast subscriptions connected to the computer or the account?

Until recently, my wife and I have been sharing a computer and an iTunes account with two separate iPhones. A couple of weeks ago I bought a MacBook. We both have different podcasts we listen to on a regular basis. Her podcasts are being downloaded to my MacBook and vice versa. If I unsubscribe and delete her podcasts from my MacBook, will they still update on the her computer? I really don't want stuff I don't listen to cluttering up my iTunes, but I don't want to stop her from getting her updates either.
    Thanks.

As far as I know Podcast subscriptions are connected to the library. I assume you copied the entire library to the new MacBook. You should be able to unsubscribe from any podcasts you no longer want without affecting the other library, even it you both use the one account for purchases.

  • Why are my podcast subscriptions not automatically downloading?

Some of my podcast subscriptions are not automatically downloading. New subscriptions are, but subscriptions that previously downloaded automatically no longer do so. When I re-subscribe, it does not solve the problem.

    Hello>
I made changes to my rss file on my webserver two weeks ago and I do not see the updates on the iTunes site.
How long on average does it take for the ITunes site to see my new changes?
    Thank you.

  • Podcast: Subscription Download Day

Does anyone know what causes subscribed podcasts to seemingly download all at once versus at the time of invidual podcast releases? I've got many subscriptions from itunes and it would seem these should become released on the release day of the source.... Instead these come one or a few weeks later... Is it best to subscribe directly from the source, so as not be delayed and so as to unburden itunes-store which perhaps is primarily for retail sales?
In case it is expected serious podcast subsribers should know these things, much betteer than i do, where is the source of information specifically describing "most efficient podcast subscription method".
Another oddity deserving more elucidation is that subscribed podcasts sometimes are not received at all-- Instead one sees that podcasts are suddenly available, in grey writing with an accompanying "get" button. These have lost the automatic download function.
    Insights welcomed

RE: " I may, however, be misunderstanding the point of your second paragraph, however, as it is somewhat unclear."
Thanks for pointing towards clarity, as i too seek clarity. The point then, of giving a live example is to discover why a show-producer would tend to be a week or more ahead of itunes podcast list for that same show-release-date. The reason to ask a public forum is see if there is a missing check box to use, or something missed by the questioner (me). I happened to have previously checked "Settings/ Every Day" so finally today i have changed this to "Settings/ Every Hour". . . See if that improves downloads in the coming days. Give it time to gel.
My given-example-show is not unique in download timing -- Seemingly it is each and every subscription, of my dozen (or so) subscriptions, which seem to follow this pattern of suddenly downloading all at one moment. So, it appears that conventions might have slowed down particular availabilities. The new-world-culture of downloading audio-shows is still developing. It is my hope that a forward-positioning company like Apple, might consider ways to improve on automating downloads generally-- Perhaps some wizard software that is especially adept at assisting Apple-Product-buyers, to take advantage of multi-cultural downloads. Have itunes more aggressively absorb subscriptions, even if a flag or tag or whatnot is missing. Like many, i have long continued to buy from Apple, to avoid fussing with "extra steps". The same point really, that you raised Meg! SO thanks again, Bo

  • Never received podcast subscription url

I submitted a url for a podcast subscription about 4 weeks ago and never received the podcast url to post to my web site. How can I find this?
    Thanks.

It looks to me like the final approval email only goes to the email address listed in the <itunes:email> tag under <itunes:owner> area in the feed.
The first email, the review email, seems to go to both the owner email and the submitters Apple ID email address.
So if the email adresses are different, you might check the mailbox for the email address in the feed...granted it was a valid email address.

  • HT6546 How do you get podcast subscriptions to download on my iMac?

I had several podcast subscriptions automatically downloading daily to iTunes on my iMac. When I installed Maverick they stopped and I can't find a way to get them started again. I looked for help on the iTunes site and all it talks about is in connection with a device and nothing about my computer. It tells me to click on things that do not exist and is totally worthless. I tried to resubscribe in the normal manner and it doesn't work beyond downloading a single episode while I wait. it only downloads at the speed of listening to it. How do I get these podcasts started again?

The very first thing you should have done when you got the new External was to change to Mac compatible to Extended and Journaled then all will be well again. Get out the paperwork that came with the Drive and read it.

  • How do I move my iTunes podcast subscriptions to a new computer?

I have a Dell computer running Windows XP.
I just purchased an Inspiron laptop running Vista and want to move my podcast subscriptions (I have a lot of them) to the new installation of iTunes on the laptop.
I cannot find any instructions on how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks. - Love my iPhone!

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. On a PC the default location is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have and iPod, some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch): How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • How do I find a downloaded podcast subscription that is not showing up in my library?

I downloaded a podcast subscription and it will not show up in my podcast library in Itunes.  I tried to download it again but it says it is downloaded.  What can I do?

Is the Podcast in iTunes U, which is a separate section within you iTunes Library? If you cannot see iTunes U on the left hand side, under "Library", click on Edit/Preferences/General>iTunes U (tick "on").
Did you actually download this programme "as a Podcast" through the iTunes Store or by subscribing to the Podcast feed in Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast? Or did you get it from the show's website?
Have you checked alternative spellings and even programme titles for the Podcast? (I have one programme, titled "Focus", but which appears under "BBC", who produced it!) Use the Search facilty to check your library.
If all else fails, what is the title of the Podcast, perhaps that may help us find it?

The person who holds the copyright to it in the UK hasn’t given Apple permission to sell it there; if desired, click here and fill out the form.

  • ITunes "Forgets" Podcast Subscriptions

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) and iTunes has started a disturbing behavior. It forgets podcast subscriptions if there are no episodes in iTunes for it to sync. I listen to several daily podcasts that I delete after listening to them. Since I have upgraded the OS, I have to re-subscribe to these podcasts on my iPod Touch whenever I get a new episode if there were no episodes in iTunes at the time. Am I missing a setting in iTunes or something that is making the iPod Touch forget its podcast subscriptions? Thanks for your help.

I am also having this problem.
