Podcasts via RSS Feeds

There are several podcasts that I would like to listen to on my iPod that are not available through iTunes. Many of these podcasts offer content via RSS Feeds. Is there a way to automate how/where these RSS feeds are downloaded so as to be automatically included in the iTunes library?
Here is an example of an RSS feed I would like to download into iTunes: http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wiaa/.jukebox?action=viewPodcast&podcastId=185 7
Any direction would be greatly appreciated....

Cocomj,
Yes, since you have the link for the podcast, open up iTunes.
Go to the Advanced Menu, and then to Subscribe to Podcast, and copy that link into the box.
Then the Podcast will be added to your iTunes section.
I checked with the link you provided and it worked for me for IPR News Features.

  • Add a podcast from rss feed

Hi. How can I add a podcast, that is not in the iTunes podcast directory, but only is presented as a web-page and an rss-feed?

Well everyone keeps saying to use:

But it's not working for me. I keep getting Bad http result code: 404 - error....

  • IWeb, Podcasts, and RSS feeds

    http://web.mac.com/realityramble
So I feel like I made a grave error in choosing iWeb to create and .mac to host my podcast. After creating the podcast page in iWeb and publishing it to .mac and the iTunes Music Store, I noticed that the podcast didn't have artwork when you find it in ITMS like it should have. I emailed ITMS and they replied that I have to manually update my RSS feed. No problem, except...
I've no idea how to do this! I know what to change and all that to add the artwork that should be there as well as the ITMS search keywords, but I have no idea where to find my RSS feed on my computer so that I can update it. ITMS email help told me to do a spotlight search on my computer but I can't find it anywhere.
iWeb doesn't tell you where the website is saved on your computer and I can't find it for the life of me.
Does anyone know how I can manually update my RSS feed? Again, I've found the page that tells me how I'm supposed to change the feed and I know what to do once I find it, but I can't find the bugger!
This seems ridiculous, and creating your site on iWeb is supposed to be the easy and fool-proof method, but it's really not and I'm really frustrated.

    Hi Keith
You need to look in your iDisk (if you don't have it mounted go to System Prefs > .Mac > iDisk, and wait till it's synchronized).
Your RSS.xml file will be in a subfolder of your Web folder - open it in TextEdit, make your changes and Save.

  • Moving Podcast New RSS Feed

I am having to move my podcast from self-hosted to Podbean.
    (1)
TO set up the new podcast, Podbean asks for my iTunes Feed ID.
Is this the numerical string after the id below (current link at iTunes store - behind album art):
    xxxxxxxxxt/id303623613?mt=2
or is it something different (does it include the letters id)
    (2)
How do I change the RSS feed on iTunes?
Do I let Podbean submit the new feed to my existing iTunes Feed ID?
Or do I have to change the RSS feed in iTunes? How?
(I want to be sure to keep reviews, listings, etc.)
    THANKS!

Because the new feed carries the same podcast title as the old one iTunes thinks it is the same podcast and gives you the 'already submitted' message. Searching on 'Pink Soup' throws up two podcasts in iTunes: one of them carries the same episodes as the Feedburner page minus the latest item.
You would do better to submit an XML file directly to iTunes rather than letting Feedburner do it: there have been complaints of problems with Feedburner and iTunes.
If you felt up to re-titling your podcast you could submit it as a new one. If you are able to get at the XML file now being used by iTunes you could post a new XML file and redirect iTunes to it from the old one:

  • ITunes Podcast Downloading RSS Feed

Hi, I'm trying to submit a podcast, but it keeps asking for an RSS feed. What is this? How do i figure out what to put in?

The Store checks only the latest episode of your feed when you submit your podcast. The media file URL for your latest episode, Day 21, is
    http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY121.mp3
and there is no file at this address. This is because you've mistyped it: the actual URL is
    http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY21.mp3

  • ITunes not updating RSS feed.

I am hoping someone will be able to help me figure this out:
After a hiatus of several months, I have started releasing new podcast episodes. The last episode in the iTunes store directory was Nov. 14, 2012.
In the last week I have released 2 new episodes, but since the content was time sensitive I backdated them. I changed the Nov. 14 podcast to July 20 and then added a September 15 and a February 22, 2013 episode.
The changes show up through iTunes software, but not in the iTunes store. It still shows the last episode as being Nov. 14, 2012. It has been 4 going on 5 days without any changes.
Also, iTunes is not displaying my podcast logo, even though I have uploaded a 1400 X 1400 jpeg.
I have checked and the podcast feed validates without a problem.
I am at a loss as to what to look for or try next. If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative for any advice.

    Hi Roger,
I contacted Apple and received this confusing reply (cut and paste below). It is confusing on 2 counts; 1) My feed validates just fine and 2) within minutes of receiving it, iTunes updated my feed to show 2 missing episodes.
Still, the artwork is not showing and I posted another (backdated) episode over a week ago and it still hasn't shown up in the store yet either.
I am wondering if I should resubmit my feed as the Apple support email suggests but do not want to loose my current subscribers.
    Any thoughts?
This is the email I received from Apple:
    Dear Malcolm,
Welcome to iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is Abdul and I will be happy to assist you.
I'm sorry to hear that you have been unable to get your podcast listed on the iTunes Store. Addressing your concern is important to me.
Malcolm, it appears that your podcast's RSS feed is not validating. To help find the problem, you may want to use a feed validator, such as this one:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org
You can get help with many specific issues, learn how to test a feed, and view a sample feed in the iTunes Making a Podcast page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html
If you can successfully subscribe to your podcast and listen to each of the episodes, try resubmitting the feed to the iTunes Store. If you receive a message that the feed has already been submitted, the iTunes Store is detecting that the podcast is a duplicate. Please follow these steps to resubmit the podcast:
    1) Change the title and link fields of your RSS feed to something other than what they are now.
    2) Resubmit the podcast feed via iTunes.
    3) Once you have successfully submitted the podcast, you can change the title and link fields back to what they were.
If you're still having trouble, consider consulting the Apple Discussions forums, which have a wealth of information about specific issues. Click Producing Podcasts in the Pro Digital Production area of this page: http://discussions.apple.com
I hope the above information will help you.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
    Have a nice day!
    Sincerely,
    Abdul

  • Echo 360 generated RSS feeds failing to stream/download in iTunes U

    Greetings iTunes U comrades!
We've been working with Echo 360 to isolate where the failure is on this issue and they're scratching their heads. They assure me that other institutions are successfully configuring iTunes U with Echo 360 RSS feeds, but seeing as there's no public forum for Echo 360 users, I'm hoping someone over here might be able to share their experiences with Echo feeds. This is part of our Echo 360 pilot on campus and Echo/iTunes U integration is a key area of functionality for our university. I'll try to provide a concise description of the issue:
The Echo 360 system generates the following RSS feed:
    http://(EchoServer IP address:8080)/ess/feed?id=aa06ce62-7373-4070-9a3b-440a6c07dc3d&type=MP3
This feed functions perfectly well in the browser, on or off campus, and we can stream the assets in the browser without issue.
I created a course page in iTunes U, pasted the feed URL, and it accurately listed all the lectures in the course, indicating that on at least some level, the Echo server is communicating with iTunes U.
However, when I try to stream any of those lectures, iTunes hangs at 0:00 and never progresses, but conversely never times out. And if I try to 'Get' an individual lecture or try to download the entire course via the 'Get Tracks' or 'Subscribe' options, I receive the following error in the 'Status' field on the downloads page in iTunes: "stopped (err = 404)"
Additionally, I receive the following message via a pop-up window in iTunes:
"There was a problem downloading (title of lecture).
The URL "http://deimos3.apple.com/DeliverDownload/(EchoServer IP address:8080)/echocontent/0926/3/f2e2e509-af3e-4c5b-a0d8-e86305cc4c8f/audio.mp3 ?downloadKey=1246484124_d9aa3cd85bcfde6f039df5ec94361e58" could not be found on the server."
Notice the discrepancy between the Echo feed and the iTunes U generated URL. This is my main area of concern and I am requesting any insight as to how iTunes U is parsing the Echo feed and creating that download key. (Echo support seemed unfamiliar with this issue.)
Of particular interest: If I go through iTunes to Advanced>'Subscribe to Podcast' and paste in the echo feed, I have no trouble downloading the lectures.
That, in essence, is the failure. I'll post troubleshooting details below.
    Thanks!
iTunes U course page settings: I left the 'security' and 'signature' fields set to 'none.' However, problem persists with security set to 'HTTP Basic' or 'Digest Authentication.'
Access settings: problem persists regardless of whether download access is given to 'all' or only to 'authenticated' for this course. I've tried toggling all these settings to troubleshoot the issue, to no avail.
I've tried using "feed" in place of "http" in the Feed URL. Same issue, regardless.
The issue is consistent with MP3, M4B, and M4V feeds.
There doesn't seem to be any way to manipulate the feed URL via the EchoSystem Server (we're on V. 2.4), and there's no additional configuration settings for manipulating the feed via iTunes U. But iTunes U is definitely producing a different feed URL, which appears to be the point of failure.
    Insights?

Short version: issue resolved. I can now successfully stream and download the Echo assets via RSS feeds in iTunes U.
Long version: Well, I can't be sure exactly where the point of failure originally was. (@Duncan: I'm not sure if there was any active tweaking on the backend with the deimos feed parsing, I can't be sure what was or wasn't done on your end) That being said, on a support call with the Echo team, as an experiment, I set all access permissions to "download." I had done this previously (before Duncan's mysterious response), and the issue persisted. However, this time after setting all permissions to 'download,' I was /finally/ able to download and stream the assets. (Eureka!)
Of course the real test was what would happen when we re-established the original access permission set, wherein unauthenticated users had 'no access'. This time, it worked! After a bunch of head-scratching, a colleague of mine elucidated that although we had 'reset' the permission structure previously, it was before Duncan and Apple may or may not have intervened on the backend, and that what we had done by changing the permission set may have been necessary for a backend RSS parsing to take hold.
I can be sure that no modifications to the RSS XML were executed on Echo's end, but if the same is true on the iTunes U side, then I am truly perplexed. The bottom line is: I don't know why it 'works' now, but I'm not going to ask too many questions so long as it keeps working. (Thanks Duncan)

  • Is it possible to create an RSS feed in Dreamweaver CC (Mac 10.8.5)?

I'm a relative beginner in terms of HTML/CSS and Dreaweaver CC. I've created a site using the dynamic layout option in Dreamweaver CC and now want to explore sharing out my content via RSS feeds. I've tried to install the Dreamfeeder extension but it doesn't work and I can't find much posted on this topic. What are my options here?

  • Can't' subscribe to RSS feed in my wiki?!?!

I am not really sure what is going on. I have a few wiki's set up and there is on (users must log in to read) that won't allow users to subscribe to the rss feed. When you click on the subscribe icon, it just freezes. I even tried manually subscribing by typing the feed address into Apple Mail, but it still didn't work. It did prompt me for the username and password, but it gets an error and there is no feed. What am I missing?

I have the same problem. My Wiki runs as a SSL secured site. The docs state:
"If you enable SSL, you must create a duplicate non-SSL site that redirects requests for podcasts or RSS feeds to the SSL site."
    However I do this.
And, I don't understand why it's not possible to subscribe to a https:// secured RSS feed.

  • Web Services/RSS Feed to Share Content

We are using Netweaver 2004s and have some KM Content that I would like to share with other sites.  The other sites are likely to be ASP written with Visual Studio 2008.  The KM Content consists of some WPC Paragraphs and some custom XML Forms created with Forms builder.
I was thinking we could maybe supply the content to the other sites via RSS Feeds or a Web Service of some sort and while I can find information about consuming both within portal I haven't had any luck determining how to share this information from the portal.
Any advice or pointers to information regarding this subject are highly appreciated.

    Hi TA,
Not sure if this will help you, but SAP KM is a WebDAV server as well as client. Perhaps you can publish this content using WebDAV? I know WPC pages have an RSS link on them that you can configure... so maybe that is something you could use for the WPC content you describe.
Sorry I can't be of more help. You coud I suppose develop a custom portal component using the KM API the returned an RSS stream, you would probably have to make it anonymous access as I don't think RSS handles authentication.

    Simon

  • Iweb09 RSS Feed Widget - Time Problem

I have a problem with the RSS feed widget. I have setup a blog separate to iweb, and that is working fine. I added a RSS feed widget to my page linked to this blog. This feed works fine except that the posts are showing the wrong time. They are 8 hours behind.
I am based in the UK. My blog posts are all posted on UK time (I've checked the RSS page too), my regional settings are all UK. Is there any way to change the code of the RSS feed or something to get it to show UK time as apposed to US time?

    Hello,
I am experiencing a similar problem. I show my Twitter updates via RSS feeds to my iWeb09 site. I reside in the Eastern US timezone. But, when my web page updates my Twitter status, it displays as if I am Pacific Time (3 hours earlier). Does anyone know what causes this?

  • Video podcast with multiple RSS feeds

We have a new video podcast at LetsKnit2gether.com and we have three RSS feeds for our show, each with a different video file format. We’re using WordPress with PodPress to create the RSS and then we manually cut and paste the others. We have two problems:
One – We can’t seem to get the multiple feeds to show up correctly in iTunes (the desktop software, not the music store – we haven’t submitted to the iTunes store yet.) I can paste one RSS URL in the Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast window and subscribe to the feed but I can’t subscribe to any of the other two. When I try they appear for a second and then disappear. Tried in both iTunes 6 and 7 on PC and Mac. I’m guessing there is something in the iTunes software that prevents similar feeds. I read as much on the Apple iTunes tutorial page but our feeds are following the rules as far as I can tell. (www.feedvalidator.org says all is well too.) Once you subscribe to one you can’t change your mind and subscribe to one of the others ever again, ever! ...even if you delete the one you subscribed to first.
There are several video podcasts that I’ve subscribed to via iTunes software that have multiple feeds (GeekBrief, Rocketboom, 88slide, etc.) so I know this can be done, I just have to figure out what’s causing iTunes to choke.
Anybody have any clue what’s going on?
Two – We’re doing cut and paste on the WordPress generated feed to make the multiple xml files. This is going to become a bigger and bigger task as time goes on and we generate more shows. I’d like to just push a button and generate all three feeds from the blog. Is there a plug-in for Wordpress or stand alone software that will do this? I don’t mind paying for software if it saves us time.
    Thanks!

I recently subscribed to a podcast on ITunes via an RSS feed. Everything downloads fine and plays on my pc. However when  I try to listen on my I pod nano, it will only play 7 to 10 minutes of each 2 hour episode. Please help!

    > subscribe to RSS feed from an external website to have the data available in a list or library
As a link or as a list of data from the feed?
    If as a link:
An RSS feed is just an XML delivered via a URL. Add the Link to a Document content type to your library and then just link to the RSS feed using its URL.
    See here:
    http://techtrainingnotes.blogspot.com/2007/08/sharepoint-adding-hyperlinks-to-doc.html
If as a displayed list of data:
Just use the RSS web part, a third party web part or a SharePoint Designer Data View Web Part to connect to the data and display it as a list of items.
