POE controller on 3560

I have a remote 3560X switch which has produced the following error messages. Nothing is connected to port 22, none of the other devices require POE from the switch. Port 21 came back online, but not 23 or 24. Any ideas what this refers to and whether it can be corrected remotely or needs to be replaced.

I have never seen an error message like this before.
1.  What is the IOS version you are using?
2.  Have you tried erasing the configuration of both ports and determine if the error message returns?
3.  Post the output to the command "sh power inline".
4.  Have you tried to "shut/no shutdown" the port?
5.  Have you tried to reboot the switch?

  • PoE problem with 3560-48 port

I am trying to power a door entry system which is 802.3af compliant (clas 3) from a 48 port 3560. It works on a 24 port version and on an HP switch but it will not work with the 48 port variant. The error log says "power Imax error". Looking at the documentation, although the switch cannot support all 48 ports at the full 15.4W, it should be able to intelligently manage power delivery to support up to 24 devices (I only need it to support 1), but this is not happening. Does anyone have any thoughts on this problem?
    Thank you.

The cause of this Message is output in the following condition.
    1. Either IEEE 802.3af power device or Cisco power device is detected.
    2. Power is given to the device, but link is not up with (5 or 10 seconds), and power thenwill be removed and this error message is generated.
These features have been added to Cisco IOS Release 12.1(19)EA1c .
Ability to provide power to connected Cisco prestandard and IEEE 802.3af-compliant powered devices from all Catalyst3750-24PS, 3750-48PS, 3560-24PS, and 3560-48PS switch 10/100 Ethernet ports if the switch detects that there is no power on the circuit.

  • POE 2921

I am trying to use POE on a 3560 switch module for a 2921,
the commands I inserted are as follow
    -int gi 0/6
    -power inline auto
When i put a power supply into my  VoIP phone it works, but when i take the power supply out it stops working, does any body know what my problem is?

Could you please post an extract from the command
    show power inline
    or specify a port
    show power inline port number
This should show what power levels you have at the switchports.

  • Using 3560 8 port PoE to power up 1252 dual radio AP for b\g clients

    Hi,
We have a couple of 3560 8 port PoE switches that we plan to use to power up 1252 APs (not ordered yet). Now since the 3560 switch will only support one radio, is it possible to order a pre installed dual radio 1252 AP, disable the 5 Ghz one and enable the 2.4 Ghz, so that b/g clients can access the network, until a PoE+ switch is purchased?
    All help is appreciated
    Thanks

Slight misconception here.  The 3560 will power the AP and both radios, so long as you are running 4.2.112.0 or higher on the WLC, or 12.4(10b)JDC or higher for an autonomous AP.  The caveat here, is you will run in a degraded state for N rates.
The below link describes the power to N rate relationship:

  • POE 3560 Issue after IOS upgrade

    Hello,
I having issue where 6 WLAN AP's not coming back uo after reboot and IOS upgrade of 3560 POE swtiches - . Prior to changes here most if not all ALL the 23 Aps were mainly on one switch, Now after these changes they are now spread over three switches ( 3560's) - with 17 coming back on line
I am sure its not the power limitation of the switch(s) as the one switch I am TS at present had a fairly large allocation of the aps attached prior to ios upgrade and reload. and the available power value now showing is applicable.for 8 AP's
I have tried various TS steps to try and bring them back up - A couple of things I would like to try but I am restricted to do so is to check the APS physically or downgrade the ios!
Any input on this matter would be truly appreciated.- (attached is the log buffer debug)

You upgraded the IOS to the switch?  I shudder at the thought of what old version did you upgrade FROM.
    Available:370.0(w) Used:110.4(w) Remaining:259.6(w)
You've got more than enough PoE left.
Only two things comes to my mind:
    1.   Cable issue - Unfortunately, the 3560 is a non-GigabitEthernet and this particular sub-model does NOT support TDR.
    2.  Hardware failure - Read THIS.

  • Catalyst 3560 24 port-PoE switch powers on but no STAT LED and console not responding

I rebooted my Catalyst 3560 24 port PoE switch and when it turned on only the STAT LED went green the other LEDs are off.  I get no response from the console port using putty and the cable I used before this happened.  I tested the cable on another switch and it works fine with putty.  What can I do with this switch?

This unit was purchased before I came to our company.  There is no support or maint contract.  I'm sure the unit is several years old...we'll call the vendor and see what they'll do..not expecting much.

    Thanks

I dont think i did anything wrong . please correct me if im wrong . i downloaded 122 .44 of the advanced ip services set but havent even put it on the switch yet. its an old ios version and it doesnt require any contract or anything to download. I got it from the official cisco web page. It does everything i need it to do so .... did i do something wrong ? should i not use this image ? Im not selling anything or makin money im just studying for ccnp switch ... finished my ccna couple of months ago...

  • 3560 POE lost ios

I have a 3560 POE that will no longer boot and I am not able to load a fresh copy of software onto it.  It appears that it has lost all data.  When I attempt to TFTP a new IOS, I receive that following error:
    Transfer cancelled by remote system
I have tried using dir flash: to see what is contained in the flash directory but I receive the below message:
unable to stat flash/: no such device
I am stuck in rommon mode so when I do switch: dir command, I don't even see flash as being a filesystem.  The below list are the only systems registered.
    bsdcs[0]:  (read-only)
    bstage[1]: (read-only)
    fstage[2]: (read-write)
    xmodem[3]: (read-only)
    null[4]: (read-write)
    tftp[5]: (read-only)
Is this switch finished or is there something else I could try?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Just for reference's sake, if anyone is seeing the same thing when they punch in "dir flash", try to punch in "dir flash:" instead. See example below from my ws-c3750-48ts:

  • 3560 PoE and 3560

    hello
i have an enhanced image running on 3560PoE switch for dynamic routing. can i copy this image to 3560 switch which is not a PoE switch.
is there a different ios image for poe switches

    Hi
No there is not a separate IOS image for PoE so memory and flash considerations aside you should have no problem with this.

  • 1142 AP will not join Controller through a D-Link POE Switch

    This is fun.
I'm trying to use 1142 APs with a 2504 Wireless Controller through a D-Link 48PT GBIT XSTACK SWITCH (DLI-DGS-3120-48PC/SI).  (I know.  Shame on me.  Couldn't help it.)
At any rate, the 1142 AP joins with the wireless controller ONLY when I attach it directly to the controller.  When connected directly to the controller the AP functions normally and all is well.
When I attach it through the D-Link switch, the AP flashs green several times, indicating that it can't find the controller.
I suspect that there's some setting on the D-Link switch that's preventing the AP from seeing the controller, but I have no idea what that might be.
Any suggestions would be helpful.  Thanks.

    leolahoo,
Thanks for responding.  I appreciate it very much.
I checked the management interface in the GUI on the controller (which is set to an internal IP address 10.1.1.20), but after doing that I am not sure what you mean by "the link should be untagged."
UPDATE:   I just saw on the main interface screen that the VLAN identifier for the management interface is marked as "UNTAGGED."
Also note the ping test results I sent to Ron above.
Any idea as to where to proceed from here?
    Thanks very much.

  • Catalyst 3560 PoE Port ASIC Port Loopback Test Issue

    Hi,
We have a switchports issue in this specific switch, wherein some switchports cannot be
turned on.  Whenever we try to perform a (shut/no shut) on the interface, it shows this

We also tried to 'reload' this switch, but still those switchports remains down. When we

This is the wrong forum to post to for this issue but I can still give you insight. Basically when the switch is booting it's going through Power On Self Test (POST). The failures you're seeing basically mean this section of switch ports which are connected to an ASIC are not functional and or have failed. This is a physical hardware problem and can not be resolved. At this point you'll need to open up a TAC case for RMA.

  • Compatible POE switches for Meru Controller

    So, some background and details.
I work as a cinematographer / editor and I work with uncompressed raw video.
I'm currently using about 9 usb3 harddrives working files, and a NAS 16tb for backups.
It was indicated to me that having 9 usb harddrives attached to my computer is a bad idea for a number of reasons.
I'm working with the black-trash-can mac - 8core, 64gigs and 1tb of ssd internal storage.
my ideal solution is a server, attached via thunderbolt or a aggregated Ethernet connection.
The goal is to move working data  from the 9 external hard drives onto this server, be able to access them, often, and be able to stream without interruption at (hopefully) about 600-900MB/s.
    My question is:
Am I on the right track, or is there a way better solution that I'm missing?

WSUS is filling up all my hard disk partition which is 200gbAlready tried running server cleanup wizard, unticking some products and classifications but still after removing files from wsus folder and restarting it it is filling up all hard disk partitionBelow are the settings I currently have :In products anad classifications I have selected:- Exchange Server 2013- office 2007- office 2013- widnows 7- windows 8.1 Dynamic update- windows 8.1- windows server 2003- windows server 2008 r2- Windows server manager - windows server update

  • Cisco 1252s with regular 802.3af PoE switches - what are the impacts?

Does anyone have any real-life experience with deploying the 1252s on regular 802.3af PoE switches?  I have a few 1252s one some 3560 PoE ports and the show up with "low power" alarms.
I am wondering what the real world impact is with this scenario.  The 1252s have both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz radios in them and I have HT enabled on the controller.
I'm wondering what capabilities I am losing by running on 802.3af power besides the annoyance of the alarms.
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry in advance for the book I have just written.
I have three 1252s on 75 feet of Cat5e cable running to a 3560 PoE switch. Sometimes, but not always, I see a low power alarm on the access point(s). This is in a small building that is built like a fortress so the RF environment is somewhat challenging. I am watching WCS closely and see all three 2.4 GHz radios powered all the way up to power level 1. I notice that two of the 5GHz radios are on power level 1, and one is on level 3. I thought that RRM would not power anything down until you had at least four access points as RF neighbors. I believe I read that in a Ciscopress book and it seems to be true everywhere in our network when I look at buildings with 3 or less WAPs.
The building in question does not have any other buildings close by with any 5GHz radios in operation - or at least I didn't see any when I did the survey.
I'm wondering if the power setting of the radios is also related to the length of the Cat5e cabling. Seems to me a shorter run would have less resistance than longer runs, allowing the radio to have more power.
My main concern is not this building in question, since we went for coverage and not client density in the design. We several other buildings on the radar, all libraries, which are going to be both RF challenging (bookshelves, furniture, cubicles, cubbies) and client-density challenged. These buildings have hundreds of WLAN clients in them at times - and I mean devices, not just people.
Someone else told me (reputable source) that channel bonding is not an option when on 802.3af power. Makes sense, actually. I would never even think of bonding in the 2.4 GHz range for obvious reasons, but up in the 5GHz range it is a definate possibility in these buildings. Seems to be that we might be shooting ourselves in the foot by not using 802.3at power in these buildings.
If channel bonding is disabled and the upper two MCS rates (using 800ns guard interval) of 117 and 130 are disabled, then I'm looking at maximum MCS rate of 104 Mbit/s compared to 270 Mbit/s with 802.3at with channels bonded in the 5GHz range.
