  • POE Injector for AP541N

    Question, for the AP541N
wireless AP, what POE injector are you supposed to use?
The web site states any enterprise class af POE injector will do, but the AP1131 POE injector does not work with the AP541N.
    Thanks!
    Jeff

If you are looking at buying the switch just for the 1 access point, I would look for one of our small unmanaged switches. If you are just using the access point for general wireless connectivity, I would look at the SD208P. If you are wanting to use multiple SSIDs separated on different VLANs then I would look at one of our Small Business 300 Series Managed Switches with PoE, for example SF302-08MP.
The PWR-INJ4 was mentioned earlier, while that may work, (supply enough power to power the unit, please be mindful of the power requirements and not to over power the unit) that Enterprise device was not made specifically with powering any of our Small Business class devices in mind, so that combination has never been tested and validated.
I hope this helps, if you have more questions I am more than happy to answer them.

  • Can i use this PoE Injector for Cisco Aironet 1602?

Hi, i want to inject PoE to my new AP (Aironet CAP1602i) and i'm looking for injector, i found this one in my local store: : http://download.level1.com/level1/datasheet/POI-2002-V1_SPEC_V1.0.pdf
will it work? i'm afraid of the voltage. it specified 54V on the datasheet, but i understood that there is a PoE power negotiate.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Shai

The image of the injector? i've posted the datasheet, it has all the relevant information and i hope you can look at it.

  • PoE injector needed for WAP4410N

I bought 2 WAP4410N wireless routers but it did not come with a PoE injector.  We do not have a PoE capable switch.  I have a couple of 3COM PoE injectors but am concerned about differing PoE standards could cause the 3Com PoE injector to damage the WAP4410N.
I cannot find a PoE injector on the Cisco website. Can anyone provide the Cisco part number for a PoE injector for the Cisco WAP4410N or provide assurances about the 3COM PoE that I have for the 3COM 3CRWER100-75 access points?

    Rob,
Thank you very much for your quick response. This is exactly the

  • Series 200 Smart Switch not communicating, DHCP blocked

I have a small, simple small business network.  There are 2 switches - an 8-port switch connected to my main Windows server (which is the DHCP provider for the network), and a 24-port switch which is plugged into the 8-port switch.
I replaced these switches (Dell unmanaged switches) with the Cisco 200 series smart switches (the 8-port and 26-port models).  When I plug the 26-port switch into the 8-port switch, it is unable to get its DHCP address from the Windows server.  Also, any device plugged into the 26-port switch cannot communicate with any other device, and all of the ethernet port lights flash at the same time at the same frequency - quite a light show!
If I plug the Windows server DIRECTLY into the 26-port switch it receives a DHCP address.
I have tried a 2nd Cisco 26-port swtich and it does the same thing, so I assume it is not a hardware issue.
What is the solution to this problem?

    Louis,
Try this, go into the first 200 series switch that is connected to the server and go to the spanning tree tab.
Under the spanning tree tab properties, set the bridge priority to 0.  This makes this switch the spanning tree root.
Try this and see if the second switch passes traffic and receives and ip address.

  • PoE Injectors and distance limitation

    Greetings,
Do Cisco PoE injectors for 3500 APs and 1552e APs act as a repeater? Another words, can we run 100m cat5e from the network to the injector and then another 100m from injector to the AP?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Scott,
I am not sure I understand. The ethernet to the AP traverses the injector, so I could interpret your answer as "Yes, you could dod 100m from the switch to the AP".
    My setup is:
    Ethernet switch === 100m ==== PoE Injector === 100m ==== AP
Another words my total ethernet run is 200m. This "should" work IF the PoE injector regenerates the signal, like a repeater. This is the piece that I do not know.
    Thanks!

  • Power Injector for WAP200

    Hello
I need your advice on whether power Injector for Aironet AP’s can be also used for SB WLAN products.
    Is AIR-PWRINJ4= compatible with WAP200??
Any advice would be very appreciated.
    Best Regards,

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center.
Currently there are no Cisco/Linksys POE approved injectors for this device or any of our other small business products. Our recommendation for powering these units are to use either the supplied power adapter or a POE Switch that is 802.3af compliant. Any of our switches with a P in the model number would be perfect. Here is a link for you to our switches.
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/solutions/small_business/products/routers_switches/index.html
While it is possible for that Cisco Enterprise Injector to mentioned above should work, It has just not been tested so we can not completely recommend it.
    Hope this helps.

  • PoE Injector options?

Just wondering what other people are doing for power in a PoE environment that doesn't use PoE line cards. We use 6509's for core layer and a combination of 4006 and 36xx series switches for access layer.
We have a very HIGH port count which would be expensive to straight up swap out. Cisco stopped selling the WS-PWR-PANEL, so I'm curious as what other solutions people have come up with.
At the moment, I'm looking at the PowerDsine 6548 as a possible solution since it's just not fiscally justifiable to provide a power injector for every user at the desktop level.

If you are looking at buying the switch just for the 1 access point, I would look for one of our small unmanaged switches. If you are just using the access point for general wireless connectivity, I would look at the SD208P. • PoE injectors usage

    Hi, sorry for stupid question.
Can I use PoE injector (even a third party one) for connecting a PoE Cisco device to a Non-PoE Cisco switch? (Of cause if the power output is enough). Or there is some kind of limitations?

    You should be able to.
The injector is just sending power down the CAT cable to the end device.
    Thanks

  • Link srw2048 and linksys 8 port gigabit smart switch linking together

    Hi all,
I would like to link my srw2048 in the my celler to the linksys 8port switch i have in the living room so my son can have lan parties. how would i configure this and will i need to make a crossover cable?
Thanks in advance for any advice

I don't see the need of configuring your SRW2048 switch for you to be able to connect your  8 port gigabit switch. Since these switches were both smart switch you can use either crossover or straight through cable for them to communicate with each other.

  • Smart switch app problem

I have been trying to use the Samsung app, Smart Switch Mobil to transfer a lot of contacts, photos etc from my Galaxy S3 to my new Galaxy S5.  I have the app on both phones and have followed the directions exactly.  The files begin to transfer, but with a few minutes I get a message that the phones are disconnected because the wireless signal is too weak.  This is ridiculos because I am in my house with a very strong wifi signal always.  Also, I have the phones within inches of each other.  No reason for this stupid message saying the signal is weak.  Anybody know what the real solution might be?

I tried using Smart Switch and it kept hanging in the middle of the transfer. I tried transferring one item at a time (text messages only, for example). Didn't work. After wasting too much time searching for workarounds, I just connected my new phone to Akruto (an app I was already using to sync Outlook with my devices) and it worked. Didn't even need Smart Switch. Here's info about Akruto: www.akruto.com.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Why doesn't the SLM2024 Smart Switch 10/100/1000 support 10M?

    Hi,
Since a couple of weeks I have installed 5 SLM2024 Gig Smart Switches. Now we have a new Time Attendance System that tries to communicate to the Cisco with 10M. The Cisco identifies it correctly but will not parse any info to the Device. Why is that?
    Test it with a D-Link 10/100 Switch -> OK
Test with a Cisco 10/100 Switch -> OK
Test with noname 10/100/1000 Switch -> OK
    Test with SLM2024 -> Failed.
I would love for someone to explain this to me. What does the Cisco do? I would gather that if a Switch is 10/100/1000 it can communicate over anyone.
    Anybody?
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
I would definitely expect to be receiving broadcast packets, maybe ARP packets  from the time attendance advice.
    Yep that is a problem.
But, why are you not receiving broadcast packets on the port that is connected to the time attendance device.hmm that my question that I am mulling in the back of my mind.  Your switch port statistics showed an issue.
    Packet capture
A wireshark or packet trace would be most useful , so mirroring the time attendance switch  port to your PC's switch port would be useful.  This would allow us to see what is coming in and out of that switch port.
Pretty easy to setup on this managed switch, see my screen capture below as an example.
Wireshark is a wonderful freeware 'sniffer' software  that would allow us to see the ethernet frames coming in and out of the switch port in question.
to grab wireshark try the following URL;   http://www.wireshark.org/download.html
Don't need much data just a 30 second capture and remember to undo the mirroring and save changes  after the capture is taken.
    MAC address Table
Be interesting to see the dynamic MAC address table to see the MAC address of the time attendance device.
Might be most intersting to add a static arp entry for the time attendance device, MAP it's MAC address to a switch port.
(This is only necessary if there isn't a dynamic ARP entry, MAC address of the time attendance device on the switch port.)
see my screen capture below, you will also note, that underneath the static address is a option to look at the dynamic address.
Switch port Status and Error log
But could be most useful to see the setting for that switch port similar to the two following screen captures.
lastly the log is informative as it might indicate what or where the error is.

  • No command line interface on SF200 small business smart switches?

Hi all, we just received 5 new SF200-48 Smart Switches for small business. I noticed only way I can configure them is by using the web gui. Is there a way to enable good old CLI?

    Thanks. Will do.
I do have another quick question, possibly a dumb one. The reason why I ordered 5 of these smart switches is to replace a bunch of hubs that are still in operation at one of our offices. Now is it safe to assume that these "smart switches" will infact work like traditional switches i.e. separate collision domain on each port? I guess what I am trying to ask is whether or not "smart switch" is just another name for a hub in Cisco's language? I don't want to roll these out and then end up with the same situation that I currently have with the hubs.

  • StorCenter ix2-200 disrupts network switch

I have an Iomega StoreCenter IX2-200 that is connected via ethernet to a Netgear GS105 Gigabit ethernet switch along with other devices such as my laptop, printer and a different/older Iomega StorCenter.  Then the switch itself is connected to a Netgear router (through another switch that services the rest of my home).  Everythying has worked fine for a few years.  Now I am suddenly unable to connect to my NAS devices.  And the lights on the Netgear switch will cycle between all lights on all ports blink together, then the lighs for each port with light in order.  Then it repeats.  I discovered if I unplug my IX2-200 from the switch, all activity returns to normal (all other devices, including my older StorCenter work fine).  I tried plugging it in to different ports on the switch and get the same issue regardless where I plug it in.  Does it sound like my IX2-200 enclosure (and the internal network adapter) need to be replaced?  The lights on the IX2-200 seem to be indicate normal functioning and I can hear the disks spinning normally when I restart it.  Any ideas how to diagnose what the problem is?  I am hoping I can just find another NAS enclosure that supports SATA II disks and switch enclosures.  But don't want to waste my money if that's not the issue.  Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE: I connected the ix2-200 directly to my router and it appears to work. I cannot connect to it to use the management utility via Internet Explorer (certificate issues, then won't connect) but can get to it via Chrome. Oh well, so there is still something buggy with my configuration somewhere but at least the ix2-200 is working,
