POE Problem with SG200-26P
Having an odd situation with this switch. Set it up with two vlans and everything was gread for about 3 days then over the weekend something happened. One od the POE Phones a Cisco IP Phone 7960 started making an odd buzz sound while hooked up to port 13 on the switch. To aliviate the problem I switched the port to 14 for that phone. The buzz went away and the phone powered on. Started looking into the problem with the port and could not find any obvious problems with the port so deemed it to be a bad port. The next day the phone that was hooked to port 1 was randomly rebooting so looked into this port and while trying to find a port that worked found that ports 1-6 would not turn on the poe light on the switch and would not power the phones for a very long time without the phone rebooting. I did however find that ports 14-18 however work as they should. Is there something I am missing as to why or how ports 1-6 are not turning on POE and could they be related to the problem with port 13? Any ideas on how to fix this problem. Currently on firmware version 1.3.5.58 and boot version 1.3.5.06. thank you for your time.
David,
This sounds like the switch is failing but I could not rule out a configuration corruption. I would back up the configuration, reset to factory defaults and test only the PoE functionality. If it works, recreate the configuration (VLANs, etc.) and confirm that PoE is functioning on all ports. If you still see issues at factory default settings, call support and open a case or return the switch to the reseller for replacement.

Hi everyone,
my switch cisco small business SG200-26G in modality link aggregation LACP the Wake On Line doesn't work !!
(WOL work only in link aggregation non LACP..) I already upgrade the latest firmware but not resolved..
Do you know how to point out me as to do for resolving this problem?
Any feedback highly appreciated!
Many thanks!Hi Rudi, I did some searching around, this seems to be a common problem for all vendors.

Here's an old post from Dave Hornstein (Cisco)
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2100652
So it seems to be a bit of a mystery. I couldn't begin to speculate why the LACP implementation wouldn't work. It may have something to do with the LACPDU's, may be it has something to do with spanning tree TCN or configuration BPDU. It may also have something to do with the NAS being in some sort of passive mode "speak when being spoken" concept. Other external factors may be EEE (energy efficient ethernet).
One interesting idea, see if you can make your NAS active and use the switch passive (join NAS LACP). If your NAS advertised the link bonding and the switch joined through LACP, does the WOL work then? If so, it would indicate a potential problem with the NAS receiving the LACPDU and the magic packet concurrently.
This may also be something that is counter-intuitive, as WOL is intended to obviously, wake up devices. The magic packet may not correctly work if LAG isn't fully established since the device is not in a fully operational state.

VLAN problems with SG200-8P and Cisco ASA 5505 (Sec Plus license)
Hi, I've been pulling my hair out trying to get simple vlan trunking working between these devices.
Basically, no clients on VLAN 99 (guest) will receive DHCP ip addresses when plugged into the SG200. I have the SG200<>ASA VLAN trunk configured correctly, as I know it, and I've tried numerous variations (set trunk as general tag/untagged, etc., set the ap port to general tag/untag, etc). Both AP's work properly when connected to the ASA e0/3 port but either will only pull the "inside" VLAN dhcp address when connected to the SG200 switch
VLAN 1 - inside (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)
VLAN 99 - guest (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)

Second ubiquiti AP
Both VLAN 1 and VLAN 99 clients work properlyFrustrated - yes. Confused - maybe not as much, but I could have put some more effort into the overall picture.
There are two VLANs (1 - native) and (99 - guest). There is a trunk port between the SG200 and the ASA configured as 1-untagged 99 - tagged.
No clients connected to the SG200 on VLAN 99 are able to access the ASA VLAN 99 using either a static VLAN IP address or DHCP. The problem occurs whether I configure the SG200 with an access port 99-tagged or Trunk port 1UP, 99T or general port 1U, 99UP or any combination thereof.
Anything connected to the SG200 on the native VLAN works properly.
Anything connected to the ASA VLANs (1 or 99) works properly
I have not yet tried to see what the switch is doing with the VLAN tags but I suspect I have some mismatch with the Linksys/Cisco SG200 way of setting up a VLAN and how traditional Cisco switches work.
I was hoping someone with a working SG200 - Cisco ASA setup could share their port/trunk/VLAN settings or perhaps point me in the right direction.

1130AG Access Point PoE Problem with Cat 3750G-24PS-E switch
I am having a problem on the PoE negotiation of Catalyst 3750G-24PS-E and 1130AG Access point. I used straight and cross cable for physical connection since by default the auto mdix per port of the switch is enabled/on. I used CLI, CNA and Web Device Manager on both devices to isolate and troubleshoot the problem but still the PoE negotiation on both devices won't work out. But when I used the access point into other switch (CE500 PoE Switch), the access point is working properly. Does anyone can help me to distinguish what the problem really is? The IOS Version of 3750G switch is 12.2(25) SEE2 and the 1130AG access point IOS Version is 12.3(8)JEA.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I tried shut/no shut on the switchport many times. I saw that the switch grant power inline on the port but the port still can't/won't provide any power to boot up the access point.
Thanks,
Nelmar -
I am trying to power a door entry system which is 802.3af compliant (clas 3) from a 48 port 3560. It works on a 24 port version and on an HP switch but it will not work with the 48 port variant. The error log says "power Imax error". Looking at the documentation, although the switch cannot support all 48 ports at the full 15.4W, it should be able to intelligently manage power delivery to support up to 24 devices (I only need it to support 1), but this is not happening. Does anyone have any thoughts on this problem?
Thank you.The cause of this Message is output in the following condition.
1. Either IEEE 802.3af power device or Cisco power device is detected.
2. Power is given to the device, but link is not up with (5 or 10 seconds), and power thenwill be removed and this error message is generated.
These features have been added to Cisco IOS Release 12.1(19)EA1c .
Ability to provide power to connected Cisco prestandard and IEEE 802.3af-compliant powered devices from all Catalyst3750-24PS, 3750-48PS, 3560-24PS, and 3560-48PS switch 10/100 Ethernet ports if the switch detects that there is no power on the circuit. -
Good morning everyone,
I have 15 of these switches used for a Voip deployment.
At one point, there was a power failure on one of these, and when it turned back on, the phones didn't power up.
The switch was fully operational.
As I logged in to the switch to check PoE port config, everything was enabled, yet everything was still off, including the PoE lights on the switch. When I clicked submit on that screen, everything powered on.
This happened at least 3 times, and Linksys suggested we change the switch.
Now, this happened on another switch. We tried many different firmware versions, and we always have the same problem.
Has anyone experienced something like that?Got the exact same thing, I thought the VoIP phones were the issue, but I got new phones just today and those don't work either.
So the switch's POE just died after a power failure...

I am thinking of buying a SG200-26P switch and have a few questions:
Is it possible to disable the PoE function on the 12 PoE ports?
I need al the ports but only 6 with PoE.
What happens when you connect a non PoE device to a PoE port?
Thnx Chris
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad AppHi Chris,
In Regards to your questions:-
Is it possible to disable the PoE function on the 12 PoE ports?
I have never played with the Cisco Linksys kit.
I know on the Cisco 3550's you could use the "no power inline" or "power inline never"
What happens when you connect a non PoE device to a PoE port?
A self test process is run, known as SDP(Signature detection process)
Before a POE switch or midspan (known as a PSE, for power sourcing equipment) can enable power to a connected IP camera or other equipment (known as a PD, for powered device), it must perform a signature detection process.
Signature detection uses a lower voltage to detect a characteristic signature of IEEE-compatible PDs (a 25kOhm resistance). Once this signature has been detected, the PSE knows that higher voltages can be safely applied.
Here is a good link on PoE:-

Problems with IP Phones registration to CUCME on SG200-50P
Problems with IP Phones registration to CUCME on SG200-50P
System setup:
- Router Cisco 2811 with IOS 12.4(24)T5 Advanced IP Services, CUCME 7.1, DHCP Server
with HWIC-4ESW
- Switches:
- old - SLM224P
- new - SG200-50P (SLM2048PT), OS v1.3.2.02
- IP Phones 7911 and 7931, OS v8.4.2
One VLAN (for desktops and IP Phones) and one IP subnet, no voice VLAN.
Network diagram:
C2811---HWIC-4ESW---SWITCH---IPPhones
Problem description:
1. In the old setup with SLM224P everything works fine.
Connected phones almost immediately (1-2 sec. after power up) get ip address, configuration and registers to CUCME.
2. When switch is changed to new SG200-50G:
- ip phones get their ip address and tftp configuration very slowly - about 10-20 seconds
- ip phones cant register to CUCME at all. On the router with SCCP debugging turned on there is no sing of registration attempt
- after reconnecting the old SLM224P situation backs to normal
Things that have been checked or tried without success:
- ports speed and duplex auto, correct detection - although not tested with manual settings
- CDP/LLDP on/off
- smartport mode auto and most static settings, also with disabled smartport
- power cycle / reset
- spanning tree and port security settings
- solutions from that post - https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2232161
None of the above methods worked.
The only action that allowed ip phones to register was changing smartport role to static IPPhone + Desktop.
After that when phone was disconnected and then reconnected the problem exists again - no registration (IP Phone status DECEASED in CUCME). Same with power cycle/reset.
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.1 - You have created the voice vlan?
Nope, flat network, one ip subnet (10 hosts and 10 phones)
2 - Have you set a phone on an untagged access port for the voice vlan to see if it works?
Yep, phones are connected to untagged access ports of the one and only vlan
3 - Have you tried to set the auto voice vlan on the switch so it dynamically assigns the role for ip phone + desktop?
Not sure about auto voice vlan setting, although there was no triggers to AVV - no static voice vlan, no CDP/VSDP advertisements of voice vlan.
We've tested static and auto smartport roles (independently of auto voice vlan feature) with successful auto-detection.
The switch was pretty much in default out-of-the-box config (beside management parameters).
4 - When rebooting the switch, you did ensure to save the start up to running config?
Yes, running to startup
5 - Have you manually set spanning tree PORT FAST for the phone ports?
No, we haven't tested that. But portfast should be set automatically for the desktop and ip phone smartport roles. -
A problem with PoE devices in the Topology view (LMS 3.1)
Hello,
the customer has a problem with PoE devices in the Topology View. :-( He doesn't see the 2960 PoE devices with the PoE filter enabled in the topology view:-( He uses LMS 3.1 on Windows.
In the NetPro discussion I found that the list of PoE devices is in the following file:
POECapableDeviceTypes.properties
but I cann't to find thid file in the campus directory. In the campus folder are following folders: bin, etc, lib and www.
Thank you
RomanThe file is in NMSROOT/campus/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/ani/clients/campus/main/filters/POECapableDeviceTypes.properties.

with actual setup, no power on GE1 or GE2, if you remove AP3 on GE3, GE1 or 2 power up devices.
Are 16900 divided between two or more ports?
I dind´t find the relevant answer on the switch specifications.
Can anyone help?Hi Minitrucker,
SG200-26P is 802.3af compliant but from what I manage to read Ubiquiti UAP-LR is not 802.3af/at compliant, correct me if I am wrong as I did not really find the datasheet for your specific AP. This would mean that the AP would need the injector or specific switch rather than any. As it uses non standard PoE.

SG200-26P + SF200-24P, LAG? Trunking?
I'm not a network person by any means and have no problem admitting that. That's why I'm here.
I have a SG200-26P that is already configured and working properly. It is connected to an ASA5505 that is acting as the DHCP server. We currently have 3 VLANs: 10, 20 & 40.
We are adding in a SF200-24P and I wanted to LAG & Trunk (I think that's the correct terms) to the 26P and the VLANs would go across both switches. I set up the LAG through the GUI on both devices with GE25/GE26 on the SG200-26P and GE1/GE2 on the SF200-24P as the LAG ports. When I connect them together I can not get an IP address, nor can I ping the 26P from a device connected to the 24P (after setting a static IP to just be able to access the GUI on the 24P).
SG200-26P = 192.168.1.3
SF200-24P = 192.168.1.4
Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm sure this is actually a simple setup but I can't figure it out.Hi MHPL, you're correct a LAG and trunk is accurate. When you think about a LAG think of it exactly the same as a single link. You must config it like any singular port and you will observe when configuring the VLAN properties that there is an option for the LAG.
Moving past that, there are 2 types of LAG, static and dynamic. I recommend that you use static LAG where each side does not use any protocol to negotiate the LAG. So when you go to the port management -> LAG setting simple add the port and click apply (do not click LACP) and make the same configuration on the other switch and connect them. Just ensure that the switches are essentially identical. -
SG200-26P not powering three access points.
Hello,
I just purchased a Cisco SG200-26P to power three Ubiquiti UAP-LR-3 UniFi AP that are going in a new small network. I added the three AP’s to port 1, 2, and 3 and they are not powering up off the POE switch. I got into the switch and I don’t see anything that stands out for them to not power up. The AP’s work powered up with POE injectors.
Thanks,

I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN .
HI All,
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Problems with a new IP phone 7906 after factory reset
Hi Guys
I am currently having problems with my new IP phone 7906 after doing factory reset and here is a video of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvCLtwIAwVw
I used this command I found on the net:
Hold down
while plugging in the phone and keep holding it until the message waiting indicator (red light) starts blinking. Then
release # and type 123456789*0# in sequence.
I was trying to switch my phone to sip and it also dont want to take tftp setup either.Tim,
Found this on the net
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62949.html
Might be woth giving it a go
6.Pull power on the phone (even if power is PoE).
7.Hold down the # key on the phone.
8.Continue holding down the # key and re-apply power.
9.While still holding the # key wait for the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light on the handset to start flashing.
10.Once the MWI light is flashing, release the # key and enter the following sequence exactly on the keypad:
3491672850*#
Once this sequence has been entered on the IP Phone, if all the network criteria above have been met, it should begin its recovery process. This process can take up to 15 minutes to finish. The phone may appear to be doing nothing during this time. However, if the phone does not recover after 20 minutes then it is possible that the recovery is stuck. In this case, re-examine your network and verify that steps 1-4 are in place, then re-issue the factory reset sequence.
* Note: The factory reset sequence is a way for a phone to clear flash and still upload to a valid firmware image. This is facilitated by the termxx.default.loads file, but requires that the image files listed in the termxx.default.loads file are available in TFTP for the phone to download. Open the termxx.default.loads file in any text editor. This loads file is essentially just a packing list showing all the OS and application files the phone needs to function. The files include a cnu, cvm, dsp, app and jar files. Please make sure that these files as listed in the termxx.default.loads file are in TFTP. ("xx" will be either "06" for the CP-7906G model, or "11" for the CP-7911G model.)
Additional Diagnostic Steps:
- Try a hard-coded IP address as a test to see if this resolves the upgrade failures. If it does, and the number of failing IP Phones is relatively few, this procedure may be the most expedient. After the IP Phone upgrades successfully, reconfigure the IP Phone to use DHCP.
- Try putting the phone on a hub or a different switch and see if this helps change the startup timing enough so that the upgrade completes successfully.

AP 2602 Problem with Code 7.4.100.60
Hi at all,
I have problems with the code 7.4.100.60 and 2602 AP´s.
The AP´s stops delivering services and no client can connected to them. After a reboot
all problems are solved, but this problem comes back every ten days.
In the logs are only shown a disconnect from these AP´s on the controller.
On the AP´s is nothing to find.
Is this a known problem? Is there a workaround available?
Thanks in advance,
MarioHello Mario,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
Please check the powering options-
• 802.3af Ethernet Switch
• Cisco AP2600 Power Injectors (AIR-PWRINJ4=)
• Cisco AP2600 Local Power Supply (AIR-PWR-B=)
and Power Draw
AP2600: 12.95W
Note: When deployed using Power over Ethernet (PoE), the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount depending on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 15.4W.
Hope this will help you.
