Point internal WWW address to external address

We have Server 2012 R2 with the Essentials feature installed.
When we go to our website www.xxxxxxx.com, we get pointed to the Remote Web Workplace.
We need the www address to point to our company website which is hosted externally.
How do I do this?
I've tried to do a redirect in IIS, but it says access denied.
I've also tried a few DNS tricks, but they aren't working.

Well, that's very little information to start from, but let me guess: is your internal AD DNS domain name the same as your public DNS domain name? (xxxxxxx.com)
If so, then you probably also have your public DNS root record xxxxxxx.com pointing to your web server, and www is a CNAME for it.
If that's the case, then you need to create a split zone in your internal DNS for www.
Please let us know if that's the case and if you need more instructions.

I can access exchange from internal ip address address but not external

Hi there, been trying to set up my iphone to collect my email from my exchange server 2003 sp 2 and have been having huge problems.
My IT guys we use have done everything they can so far and we tried setting up the email by connecting through my wireless network and on my intenal ip address to by pass my westell router and it works.
Now as soon as we try this outside and turn off the wi-fi and change ip adress to external, basically my OWA web address the verification fails.
We use an actual number like 000.00.00.000 rather than this webmail.mycompany.com etc I have read about. Sorry not very good at this sort of thing so sorry if I sound like a novice.

In order to connect to an Exchange server from internal and external, you must connect via a URL and not a specific IP address.
The reason for this is that internal IP addresses (10.10.x.x, 192.168.x.x) are different than external IP addresses, therefore you will not be able to connect externally as you reported.
If you connect to Exchange using a URL (example: http://mail.domain.com, the URL is mapped to both the internal IP and external IP - and thus the iPhone will work everywhere. Internal mapping is done in the server's DNS records. External mapping is done by contacting your internet provider and adding an A record. (You will also need a firewall mapping from external to internal with port 80 open for incoming traffic.)
When you set it up as above, it works like a champ on Edge/3G and WiFi whether your in the office or outside.

EA3500 internal IP address (and more) being changed

Hi All, the internal IP address of my EA3500 and some other configuration items such as Local Wireless Management (as far as I am able to determine) have changed a couple of times last weeks. I am not aware of some kind of auto-update feature or so, and I can fix it myself by resetting to defaults, but it's getting pretty annoying. Does anyone know how to prevent this? Thanks, cheers, T.

My Linksys EA3500 router/switch has fixed IP addres 192.168.x.y (with subnet 255.255.255.0), my Linksys E4200 (Access Point) has fixed IP address 192.168.x.y+1 (same subnet), my Linksys WES610N Bridge has fixed IP address 192.168.x.y+2 (same subnet), those other devices have indeed a fixed IP addres in the 192.168.x.y+100 range (same subnet) and my mobile devices (Apple and Windows computers, notebooks, tablets and smartphones) obtain their IP address via DHCP in the 192.168.x.y+125 (same subnet). I never experienced conflicts in the IP area for years, with my good old WRT54GL router/switch, but last weeks/months my EA3500 router/switch has switched over to IP range 10.230.a.b, some kind of automatically. I just want to be able to disable this feature if possible to prevent resetting to defaults and restore my backup configuration. That works when I am around but sometimes I am just not. Recording internal IP addresses using Microsoft Client

Some of my users are using the Microsoft built in Client in Windows to intiate VPN connections into a 3015 Concentrator.
However, using this Client I do not seem to be able to get the 3015 to log the internal IP address the 3015 has issued from the configured pool. I need this in order to fulfil audit trail requirements but only log the username and their external (ISP) address.
I notice that with the Cisco Client both the internal and the external IP address is recorded fine, providing an audit trail.
The environment I work in does not allow me to specify a client type to use as this would be restricting users!
Can anybody help me find a way to record the assigned internal IP addresses for users using non-Cisco Clients? The data I need is available in real-time from the Concentrator, but I cannot find a way to send it to a syslog server.

Try a ping broadcast - for example if your network were 192.168.1.xxx (netmask of 255.255.255.0) try this from a Termnal.app window (located in /Applications/Utilities):
ping 192.168.1.255
If you have a different type netmask, you need to put 255's where the 0's are in your netmask.
Everyone on the local network (the 192.168.1.xxx network) should reply that is up and running unless you have them setup to not respond to pings (the WAN port on your TC should not reply cause it's in a different network) and you have your list of clients on the network. If you setup the TC to dedicate a range of addresses for WiFi clients you can even identify which of them are wired and which are wireless.

Hi, I am moving our TMG 2010 server over to a new datacenter and while the IP subnet will be the same the internal IP address of the TMG server must change.
If I understand it right, all I would have to do it change the physical NIC properties to reflect the new address right? If for example I am changing the internal NIC address from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.2 and the 10.0.0.x network is already defined in TMG as
an internal network then there is nothing that needs to be done from the TMG point of view correct? This is not being used as an outgoing web proxy but for server publishing rules.
Am I on the right track?

How do I remove old web site when publishing new site with same URL in iweb? Hit replace when publishing new iweb site (so we could have control over changes) but new site name is attached to old via a / after our www address we want to keep.

I hit the replace when publishing the new iweb site (so we could have control over changes - last one was not an apple based site) but new site name is attached to old via a forward slash and underscore after our www address. Makes it very messy with a very long web address. Original address now followed by iweb site name followed by name of first page? Went for iweb as not that computer literate - all going so well?! Well yes of course, if you try and publish through iWeb there won't be an option to publish without your site folder which is exactly why I told you to download Cyberduck and use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server having published your site from iWeb to a local folder. That is what you need to do if you don't want your site name to be included in yoru url.
It would have been easier also if you had used Cyberduck initially to connect to your server and delete your old site yourself - at least that way you would have deleted the correct files rather than relying on your hosting service to do it and doing it incorrectly.
Download Cyberduck and then select the publish to a local folder option from iWeb and then use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server, but rather than uploading the whole site folder and separate index file, upload ONLY the contents of your site folder and then your url will be http://www.domain.com/page_name.html.
It really isn't rocket science!

yeah issue on far site they arent allowing access to the port we are trying to access, and they made it up and we are good to g now,
One thing I am worried is only one IP add is able to access the resources, I mean i created an add range of 192.168.x.0/26, however only 192.168.x.3 one of our server is able to access the far site, havent got a clue

Tcp_intranet channel to accept only for a specific internal IP address

I am currently using SunOne Messaging Server v5.2:
I would like to configure our MTA to only deliver emails to their proper mailstore if the emails are from 2 specific internal IP addresses. If emails that originated from the intranet are not from the above 2 IP addresses then I would like to re-route the emails to a particular MTA(port 25) for processing. Can this be done? And if so, what changes do I need to make to the imta.cnf file/mappings file?
The tcp_local channel for outgoing emails should remain the same. My guess is that I have to modify the tcp_intranet channel to only accept from specific IPaddresses, Otherwise pass the emails to another channel or MTA for processing.
Question: Can a user spoof an Email with an improper IP address. And if so, do I have to turn on reverse lookup to stop this from happening Or is reverse lookup on by default? Where is the reverse lookup setting? In the imta.cnf file?

by default, we do examine the ip address of a mail sending partner. this is hard to spoof, and it's not based on "from" attribute.
However, I'm not at all sure that what you're asking for is truly something achieveable by any normal means, nor if it's truly useful ..
Perhaps you could create another channel for your specific ip addresses, and that would work. . .

I got rid of Babelfish and now the toolbar to type in a www address etc has gone.

I have lost the bar at the top of the screen where you key in the www address you are seeking. This bar also has the 'back' button, and 'tools' button amongst others. How do I restore this toolbar?

If the usual method does not work, you can also do this manually.

That will delete all passwords and remove the master password.

Cant access Windows Azure VM after changing internal IP addresses

Hi I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I changed my windows server machine to have static internal ip addresses from DHCP, now i can connect to my machine.
How can I change it back to DHCP. can this be done via azure powershell?

You can change the virtual machine size and then change it back and you will be able to get back into the VM. And not because the VM size matters, but because changing the size will move it to a different host server, which will present a virtual NIC with
a different hardware ID, which the guest OS will detect as a new NIC and therefore give it default TCP/IP settings including dynamic IP and DNS - which is what you must use for Azure VMs.
