Pointer won't move automatically to default button in dialog box in firefox 4

Since I installed firefox 4, the pointer won't automatically snap to the default button in a dialog box. For example, when I delete trash in yahoo mail, there is a dialog that ask if I want to delete files, but the pointer is not on the default button.

Thanks StephenB. Yes, it is now obvious that the default button has been selected without the cursor jumping to it, and as you say, hitting "Enter" does the job. Still not as natural a process as just clicking the cursor key and as your hand is already on the mouse it is probable faster to still move the cursor to the button.
Maybe Mozilla will fix it in the future so that the cursor jumps once more.

My cursor has been automatically moving to the default button in dialog boxes. So if I'm "saving as..." it moves to the "enter" or "ok" button. In other dialogs it moves to the cancel button, or whatever is highlighted. I use a big monitor so my wrists are aching from rolling my trackball all day to get where I want to go and away from the default.
I'm not sure where this happened, but I can't find the cause. I've turned off all my menu bar items, and it still happens. But I can't find anything in OS preferences related, nor accessibility. Unless I'm missing it. Happens with the trackball unplugged, using just the trackpad. Happens in all apps.
I have a vague recollection of engaging something like this in the last OS, but it hasn't been happening until recently, long after I would have enabled it. I think it started on my upgrade to Yosemite, but not sure.
Can anyone help? Terminal commands ok.

It's likely that one of your login items is causing the problem. Select the Login Items tab in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. Delete any items that you don't recognize.

example: when cleaning out trash the pointer does not go to the default button in the dialog box, you have to manually go there.

In SAP this job shows completed till the 3rd step. and no error in the job log. but it does not execute the 4th and the 5th steps. And in Redwood, it shows completed for 1st and 2nd steps, 3rd step is in Error but has no error log. The 4th and 5th steps are in chained status. I have not amended the job chain after import. I have just scheduled it as it was running in the SAP system.
Let me know if you need some further information on this.

I have macmini like mediaserver. But when internet is mising, or error when iTunes can't get album artwork it display dialog window. And i need conect to serve via VNC, and press "OK" Botton. What app can close this widnows avtomaticly? AppleScript?

I have demons that synchronize automatically iPad/iPhone, if iPhone is not available in Wi-Fi network iTunes pops up an error. Demon that take artworks- when there is no internet, iTunes pops up error. There is problems that i can't fix, so i need program or script that will close dialog box. Like SteerMouse, but it don't press the botton

Shortcut for selecting non-default button in dialog boxes

I seem to remember that there was a keyboard shortcut many OSs ago. I can't seem to find it or replicate it. Particularly, I would like to choose the non-default button in a dialog box in Acrobat Pro for productivity's sake.

No way to tell if Adobe follows the standard, but TAB generally moves through the Dialog buttons & Space Bar selects that choice where Enter/Return chooses the default blue button. Sometimes the CMD key + the first letter of the button selects it iirc. Sometimes the esc key passes for Cancel.
If it's not, in Sys Prefs change if the “Full keyboard access” under keyboard shortcuts is set to use text boxes and lists only, switch it to “All controls”.

Unix command to click button on dialog box and close windows?

I administer an elementary school computer lab of 35 eMacs all with OS 10.4.7 and with ARD 3.0. Our network server configuration requires a mounted server on each desktop in order to administer certain software packages we use. Every morning at start-up I have to walk around and manually click "Connect" on the dialog boxes. Then, with this configuration, each time a server is mounted, it opens up a Finder Window on the host machine so I've got to walk around and close windows on all the machines. I'm sure there must be an AppleScript or Unix command that I can set up to do these two tasks but I've not found it (or learned how to write it) in a few days of searching. Any suggestions?

OK guys,
I just succeeded in saving the AppleScript command as an application. I put it in the Login Items just after the servers. It worked beautifully! No more open windows exposing sensitive files to the risks of elementary students (how come the mounted volumes always appear on the desktop even when the "hide" button is checked?). It would be great if the mounted volumes were not showing at least in a setting like a school computer lab.
Now, I'm still dealing with the mounting process requiring me to manually click on "Connect" every time. The Student account doesn't even have a password just to make such things easier. Still the process displays this:

Here's what it says: Connect to the file server "server name."
Connect as: Registered User
Name: "account name"
√Remember password in keychain
(and then two buttons) Cancel or Connect
That's where I'm at right now. My district Tech. Support folks say that there's no way to avoid the dialog box but John seems to do it OK. They also pointed me to an online source (www.bombich.com) that I haven't yet checked out.

Faint Boxes Around Buttons in Dialog Boxes

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but the discussion search seems to be deactivated.
When dialog boxes appear in any application, there is a faint lighter gray box around the UI elements like buttons and text. Not impacting performance, but it's just driving me nuts.

Feature Request: Ability to Not Have an Action Button in Dialog Box

As it stands, the dialog box requires you to have an "OK" button, and a "Cancel" button (names can be changed...) - both of which will dismiss the dialog box. More buttons than that and you have to define an accessory view or put buttons in the views - all of which is fine, except when a dialog box is used more like an application frame, in which case it would be preferrable if only one button dismissed the dialog box (e.g. 'Done').

Is there a way i can move Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons to the left of Firefox v30?

I would prefer them on the left side of Firefox instead of the right side.

Making "Sleep" the default in shutdown Dialog Box

Since I rarely shut down my computer, I'd like to make "Sleep" the default (highlighted blue button) instead of "Shut Down" when I press the round button to the right of the keyboard of my MacBook Pro. Is there a way to do this?

hi,
I have an internal frame when the user clicks a button a dialog box should pop up , how shall i restrict the movement of dialog box within the parent..(Desktoppane) i have used custom dialog box coz i need to capture the button click event.

You could use a JDesktopPane with JInternalFrames, this is their default behaviour. Read this section from the Swing tutorial on "How to Use Internal Frames":

Otherwise, you would have to add a ComponentListener to the JDialog. Whenever the JDialog is moved, you would check its location and if it is outside the bounds of the parent frame then you would reset its location. Here is a tutorial on "Using a Component Listener":

Suggestions to create a "Done" button dialog box

I have created an Automator APP to remove certain files using a shell script.
Now I would like to add a "Done" button-type dialog box when this shell script has completed its' task. Is there a way to do this? Thanks everyone in advance.
