Pointers needed to change Value Range in a Domain through a program

Hi All,
          I have a requirement in which i have to change the Value range of a domain while executing a program...
Is there any FM available to achieve this functionality.... Kindly provide pointers to achieve my requirement...
Regards,
Navin.

Hi Navin!
From functional point of view, that's a DDIC change - which you should not do by a program, but in DEV system and transports.
Otherwise, have a look at table DD07D - with no garantee of the results of direct DB changes in this table.

  • I need to change values in a file owned by root (root password is constant)

    The file is parameter file has below contents. The file is owned by root. My script is run by normal user and root password is constant and we can hardcode it.
    ABCLimit: 90
    SpoolLimit: 200
    TimeLimit: 345
    I need to change the value of SpooLimit from 200 to 400.
    Can anybody please give code for this?

    Your application needs to be running as root, or the user that started the application needs to have root level permissions for at least specific funtions (i.e. /etc/group, RBAC, sudo, etc).
    Java cannot change the users permission level in anyway that the user cannot already do himself.
    If you wish to find out how to use the /etc/group file, RBAC, sudo, etc, find your local System Administrator and explain your intentions to him/her (yeah, now that's a conversation I want to hear).

    Hi,
    You can use this code to get the Doman's fixed values.
    DATA:  lt_fixed_values     TYPE ddfixvalues,
      CALL METHOD cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_name
        EXPORTING
          p_data      = 'Domain_name' " Pass the domain name here
        RECEIVING
          p_descr_ref = lcl_abap_typedescr.
      TRY.
          lcl_abap_elemdescr ?= lcl_abap_typedescr.
        CATCH cx_sy_move_cast_error.
      ENDTRY.
      IF lcl_abap_elemdescr IS BOUND.
        CALL METHOD lcl_abap_elemdescr->get_ddic_fixed_values
          EXPORTING
            p_langu        = sy-langu " Give the language
          RECEIVING
            p_fixed_values = lt_fixed_values " This table will have the fixed values
          EXCEPTIONS
            not_found      = 1
            no_ddic_type   = 2
            OTHERS         = 3.

  • HR ABAP: Value Range Filtering in F4 help.

    Dear Experts,
    I'm using a common data element and domain used by our team for a field called "Overall Status"! The value range inside the domain for this OS is appended by each individuals, as and on based on individual requirements.
    Now, i've appended 5 value range inside the existing domain's value range.
    When, i call my custom infotype screen, i need only those values added by me in the f4 search help, instead of all the existing enteries in the value range?
    Can anyone throw some lights for the procedure to do so?
    Thanks in anticipation!
    Useful solution will be definitely rewarded!

  • Any FM avaliable for reading domain value range

    Hi experts,
    Is there any FM avaliable to read values from value range of a domain.
    I need to fetch short  descriptions for corresponding fixed values in value range.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Neelima

    Hi,
    Is there any FM avaliable to read values from value range of a domain?
    Yes. Of course, you can try using the following.
    Let me assume that there is a domain called ZGENDER and it has the following fixed values:
    Value  Description
    M        Male
    F         Female
    U         Unknown.
    Then do the following code:
    DATA: l_t_gender TYPE TABLE OF dd07v.
    To get the possible list of Genders
      CALL FUNCTION 'GET_DOMAIN_VALUES'
        EXPORTING
          domname         = 'ZGENDER'
        TABLES
          values_tab      = l_t_gender
        EXCEPTIONS
          no_values_found = 1
          OTHERS          = 2.
      IF sy-subrc <> 0.
        MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
                WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
      ENDIF.
    I need to fetch short descriptions for corresponding fixed values in value range.
    Yes. After calling the function module, l_t_gender-ddtext will have the short descriptions.
    Please revert back for any clarifications.

  • Value range of domain

    Hi Experts,
                       what is the importance of value range tab of domain?........if we enter any interval in value range for the domain and then we assgined that domain to a table field.Now can we only enter value into the field only satisfying the interval in value range of the domain?
    I have already assigned domain to a package and Now I want to change that package and request no.Is there any way out?

    Hi,
    A Domain defines a Value Range. The value range of a domain can be restricted by defining fixed values. If all the fields or components that refer to the domain should be checked against a certain table, this table can be defined as the value table of the domain. If you maintain only the interval values, then your values entered will be restricted in that Interval only.
    For Changing the package Assignment of the domain, go the Object Navigator (TX:SE80) and then navigate to the domain using the package. Select the Data Dictionary Objects like Domain and using the Context Menu of the mouse you can change the package assignment.
    For changing the transport request, you have to go to SE09 ( Transport Organizer Tool) and then delete the old task from it or you can create a new transport request and the change the task assignment of the existing ones to the new one.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Samantak

  • How to change value of ${eol} from \n to \r\n, writing by File Adapter

    Hi All,
    How to change value of ${eol} from \n to \r\n, while writing file through File Adapter.
    As my file is being created in Linux environment, so for new line separater, \n is used. I mounted this file directory to windows System.
    As Windows requires \r\n for new line seperator. So I need to change value of ${eol} in the Schema created for file writing.
    Can any one provide help regarding this.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    When an XML payload is written to a file \n would be used as the default line separator regardless of if its windows or linux, as per the XML specification http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#sec-line-ends.
    As such, one need not worry about the line separators because, the XML file would eventually be processed by a parser which usually would be able to understand both line endings (as they are whitespace characters as far as the parser is concerned).
    If you want to convert the line terminators (for readability etc), 10.1.3.4 has a new feature - in the XML schema definition for the file adapter payload, add these two top level directives to the schema element:
    xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd"
    nxsd:normalizeLineTerminators="false"

  • It is possible to assign value range to non key fields in the table?

    Hi,
    I want to give some range of values to the fields which are non key fields in the table.
    is it possible?
    can anybody tell me the procedure.
    Thanks in Advance,
    venkat

    HI,
    It is higjly possible in case of Z-table. but in standard table you can't make any modification.
    You assign the value range to the domain of field.
    go to SE11 and open the database table.
    Select the Data Element of the fieldto which  you want assign the range.
    Click on its domain .
    click on Value Range tab.
    Set the range.

  • J2ME to personal Java, how much need to change

    I have an appilication that is written in J2ME. Now i'd like to experiment how it runs on PersonalJava devices, such as Nokia Communicator.
    How much I need to change. The app is small pop-mail program, that fetches emails from my mail server. It uses HttpConnection. The Gui is build with few Form.
    Am I right when I assume that just the GUI parts have to be re-written (using AWT), mostly all the rest works. If I compile existing code with Jdk 1.1, are the errors I get the changes I need to do... Or is there something else too ?
    Thanks in advance,
    P_trig

    The Idea was not to test the app on Desktop, but to convert it to PersonalJava and I wondered how much there is to change before J2ME app runs in PersonalJave Device.
    My app runs fine, I know that already, but I need to make another version of it for PersonalJava. IE, which elements of current versions have to be rewritten, that's my question, not how to emulate J2ME on desktop.
    Thanks,

  • Value ranges

    Hi,
           Can anyone tell me what is the use of value ranges. and Can anyoen plz give me example how to give data in value ranges table which is presnt in domain.
    thanking u all.
    regards,
    kavita

    hi,
    A domain defines a value range. A domain is assigned to a data element. All table fields or structure components that use this data element then have the value range defined by the domain.
    <b>The value range of a domain is defined by specifying a data type and length (and number of decimal places for numeric data types).</b>
    The value range of a domain can be restricted by defining fixed values. If all the fields or components that refer to the domain should be checked against a certain table, this table can be defined as the value table of the domain.

  • Change Value While Uploading data From Excel File

    Dear Expert,
    Please guide me is it Possible?, if yes then How?
    We have one BDC Uploader there After uploading data from Excel File, i want to check one field like this....
    if it_f65data-newbs contains any Alphabet.
    then user Should be able to change value on the same time while executing Program in table.
    Please tell me how i can change value in running program
    Regards'
    Shelly Malik

    Hi,
    What you can probably do is, perform a consistency check on your data in the internal table and segregate all those rows that have inconsistent data (in your case, the field NEWBS containing albhabets) into another temporary internal table. Display the temporary internal table in an editable ALV grid saying that these data have not been inserted to the database, coz they have inconsistent data in the field NEWBS. Allow the user to edit and then save the data which will consequently refresh the internal table contents.

  • ALV, domain and F4 value ranges.

    Hi all
    I'm having trouble with getting F4 value range help up and running on a cell in my ALV. The main reason for my problems is because I'm not using a DDIC structure, but one I defined locally. The structure's field is associated with a domain type defined in the DDIC and as such I'd like to pull the value range from there.
    Here's what more-or-less what I'm doing:
    - Create a local structure type corresponding to fields of a DDIC table.
    - Select from the table into the structure.
    - Load ALV with structure.
    Is there anyway to get the F4 help on a cell?
    Ps. ref-table and ref-field doesn't work.

    As I'm not at the office at the moment I can't test anything, so I'll give you a progress update tomorrow, but in the mean time:
    Anjali - I'll have a look at that link. I'm still fairly new to ABAP so I can't tell off hand if that's what I'm looking for, but I'll know for sure when I have a look at the demo applications.
    Vijay - I do have value ranges for the domain of the type used by my structure. I believe ref-table and ref-field isn't working because my internal table is of type local structure rather than DDIC table type.
    Sekhar - I did try setting F4AVAILABL to 'X', but all that does is display the 'value range button' (which you can click to get the same effect as pressing F4), without actualling doing anything else.
    Thanks for the help thus far.

  • Change Pointers Needed

    Hi All,
    Please give me a scenario to expalin about change pointers.
    Regards,
    Srik

    Change Pointer Configuration and extraction in HRPay.
    Infotypes to be logged are in:
    V_T585A,
    V_T585B,
    & V_T585C
    Please view the table contents to understand the structure of these tables and how they are linked. These help you identify the cluster tables which store the data.
    Payroll Cluster Table – PCL4 contains the cluster table reference. (Please refer to the table structure below:
    Payroll Custer Tables
    http://www.planetsap.com/HR_ABAP_payroll.htm
    Cluster tables combine the data from several tables with identical (or almost identical) keys into one physical record on the database.
    Data is written to a database in compressed form.
    Retrieval of data is very fast if the primary key is known.
    Cluster tables are defined in the data dictionary as transparent tables.
    External programs can NOT interpret the data in a cluster table.
    Special language elements EXPORT TO DATABASE, IMPORT TO DATABASE and DELETE FROM DATABASE are used to process data in the cluster tables.
    PCL1 - Database for HR work area; (long text, etc)
    PCL2 - Accounting Results (time, travel expense and payroll); (payroll results)
    PCL3 - Applicant tracking data;
    PCL4 - Documents, Payroll year-end Tax data (change logs, etc)
    Database Table PCL4
    The database table PCL4 contains the following data areas:
    LA change logs (long term documents)
    SA Short-Term Documents for HR Master Data
    SB Short-Term Documents for Applicant Master
    SRTFD (PC400) = trans class always A for master data (1) pernr (8) info type (4) modified date (8) modified time (8) seqnr (4)
    Please note that for the extraction of data, you have to use the date portion of the ‘SRTFD’ and not the field value AEDTM(since it is not primary key).
    Naming convention for INCLUDES when defining clusters. These INCLUDES will define the work area key above and the cluster data that is returned from an IMPORT:
    RPCnxxy0
    n = 1, 2, 3 or 4 (for PCL1, PCL2, PCL3, PCL4)
    xx = cluster ID
    y = country grouping (0 for international otherwise country indicator T500L)
    Description of Cluster Data using Cluster RX as an Example
    The data description is stored in the include RPC2RX00 in accordance with the above naming conventions.
    RPC1TX00 - Long text cluster ID in table PCL1
    RPC2RUU0 - Payroll results for the US cluster ID in table PCL2
    RPC4LA00 - Change log cluster ID in table PCL4
    Importing Data (I)
    The IMPORT command causes data objects with the specified key values to be read from PCLn.
    If the import is successful, SY-SUBRC is 0; if not, it is 4.
    REPORT ZRPIMPORT.
    TABLES: PCLn.
    INCLUDE RPCnxxy0. "Cluster definition
    Fill cluster Key
    Import record
    IMPORT TABLE1 FROM DATABASE PCLn(xx) ID xx-KEY.
    IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
    Display data object
    ENDIF.
    See sample program for long text.
    Importing data (II)
    Import data using macro RP-IMP-Cn-xy.
    Check return code SY-SUBRC. If 0, it is successful. If 4, error.
    Need include buffer management routines RPPPXM00
    REPORT ZRPIMPORT.
    *Buffer definition
    INCLUDE RPPPXD00.
    DATA: BEGIN OF COMMON PART 'BUFFER'.
    INCLUDE RPPPXD10.
    DATA: END OF COMMON PART 'BUFFER'.
    *import data to buffer
    RP-IMP-Cn-xy.
    *Buffer management routines
    INCLUDE RPPPXM00.
    Cluster Authorization
    Simple EXPORT/IMPORT statement does not check for cluster authorization.
    Use EXPORT/IMPORT via buffer, the buffer management routines check for cluster authorization.
    rpcbdt00 - include needed for importing from database PCL4(la) (Change log cluster ID)
    Please note that data for change pointers is stored at two levels: 1) Header – which has the key info and 2) BELEGE – which has the changed info – ie. Old value and new value.
    Check standard program RPUAUD00
    Applications which write change documents will also try to write change pointers for ALE operations. These are log entries to remember all modified data records relevant for ALE.
    Most applications write change documents. These are primarily log entries in the tables CDHDR and CDPOS.
    Change documents remember the modified fields made to the database by an application. They also remember the user name and the time when the modification took place.
    The decision whether a field modification is relevant for a change document is triggered by a flag of the modified field’s data element. You can set the flag with SE11 by modifying the data element.
    For the purpose of distributing data via ALE to other systems, you may want to choose other fields, which shall be regarded relevant for triggering a distribution.
    Therefore R/3 introduced the concept of change pointers, which are nothing else than a second log file specially designed for writing the change pointers which are meant to trigger IDoc distribution via ALE.
    So the change pointers will remember the key of the document every time when a relevant field has changed.
    Change pointers are then evaluated by an ABAP which calls the IDoc creation, for every modified document found in the change pointers.
    The Change pointers are written from the routine CHANGEDOCUMENT_CLOSE when saving the generated change document. So change pointers are automatically written when a relevant document changes.
    The following function is called from within CHANGEDOCUMENT_CLOSE in order to write the change pointers.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGE_POINTERS_CREATE'
    EXPORTING
    change_document_header = cdhdr
    TABLES
    change_document_position = ins_cdpos.
    Activation of change pointer update :
    Change pointers are log entries to table BDCP which are written every time a transaction modifies certain fields. The change pointers are designed for ALE distribution and written by the function CHANGE_DOCUMENT_CLOSE.
    Change pointers are written for use with ALE. There are ABAPs like RBDMIDOC which can read the change pointers and trigger an IDoc for ALE distribution.
    The change pointers are mainly the same as change documents. They however can be set up differently, so fields which trigger change documents are not necessarily the same that cause change pointers to be written.
    In order to work with change pointers there are two steps to be performed
    1) Turn on change pointer update generally
    2) Decide which message types shall be included for change pointer update
    R3 allows to activate or deactivate the change pointer update. For this purpose it
    maintains a table TBDA1. The decision whether the change pointer update is active
    is done with a Function Ale_Component_Check
    This check does nothing else than to check, if this table has an entry or not. If there is an entry in TBDA1, the ALE change pointers are generally active. If this table is empty, change pointers are turned off for everybody and everything, regardless of the other settings.
    The two points read like you had the choice between turning it on generally or selectively. This is not the case: you always turn them on selectively. The switch to turn on generally is meant to activate or deactivate the whole mechanism.
    The change pointers which have not been processed yet, can be read with a function module.
    Call Function 'CHANGE_POINTERS_READ'
    The ABAP RBDMIDOC will process all open change pointers and distribute the matching IDocs.
    When you want to send out an IDoc unconditionally every time a transaction updates, you better use the workflow from the change documents.

    hi,,
    Activating Change Pointers
    Use
    You can activate change pointers in the HR system to avoid distributing the entire structure when you make changes to the HR-ORG model, and distribute instead only the changes that you have made.
    Procedure
    1. In the Implementation Guide (IMG, transaction SALE), choose Modeling and Implementing ® Master Data Distribution ®Replication of Modified Data ® Activate Change Pointers &#8209; Generally.
    2. Set the activation status Activate Change Pointers &#8209; Generally, and save your entry.
    3. Choose the activity Activate Change Pointers for Message Types.
    4. Set the active indicator for the message type HRMD_ABA.
    5. Save your entries.
