Pointing Adobe 9 Pro to Shared Network Folder to Add Comments

We currently use Pro7 as a standard in our company and put PDF's into SharePoint 2003 for review. All Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro.'s in our company point to a Z: drive for reviewing.
When a PDF is posted into SP and opened via a link all comments can be seen if you are pointing to the Z: drive and you can add comments. This is more like an open review but it works well for us.
We have also upgraded to Office 2007 so we need to move to Acrobat 9 because we are getting problems with Pro 7 and office 2007 compatibility.
So I have installed the full trial version of Pro 9 on my PC. But when I try and link to a document review in SP I see no comments and have no reviewing tool bars. Usually with Pro 7 you would point to the shared drive in preferences/reviewing and then hey preston everything would work. However, in Adobe 9 there is no option to point at the shared drive.
My question is how do I get Acrobat 9 to see the comments written in the folders on the shared drive?
Please help.
Lee.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for the reply, but I guess I wasn't clear enough.
I want Acrobat 9 to see the comments repository used by the Acrobat 7 reviewers when they comment on a document which is held is SharePoint.
This repository is on a shared drive called the Z: drive.
In Adobe 7 you open preferences\commenting and choose network folder then browse to the shared folder.
There is no such option I can see in Acrobat 9.
Thanks

  • Save a pdf form and stored it in a Shared Network Folder

    Hey Guys,
Is there a way using ASPX and Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 to create a form and when the user clicks on the submit button to save a copy of the form and send it over to a Shared Network Folder?
I know adobe accepts JavaScript and FormCalc scripts only but if someone has done something similar to the scenario I explained I'll be deeply appreciate it if you can share some steps or at least show me the light so I can move a little bit further.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just providing some information in addition to George's reply.
The PDF created by FormsCentral, assuming you are collecting responses online, is configured to enable extended features in Adobe Reader to allow respondents to save the form. To edit the PDF in Adobe Acrobat you must use the File > Save a Copy... menuitem to create a copy of the document that is not Reader-extended.
When you have finished editing the document you should remember to re-configure the PDF for fill-in and save within Adobe Reader.

  • When trying to open a pdf from a shared network folder I get an error

    hello,
When trying to open a pdf from a shared network folder I get the error: 'there was an error opening this document the document cannot be found'. The share is on a Windows 7 machine and sharing to a OS X 10.7 Machine. Permisson has been given on the share for 'Everyone' read and Write, and is mapped to the 10.7 machine through the 'Connect to Server' in finder with login credentials.
    Can you help please?
    Kind regards,
    Chris

This is in Internet Explorer 6 (yes, horrible, I know), but we use a standardized image where I work, with pretty intense GPO's.
Don't know what happens if you right-click the link; but from any other machine (with the same image) the same link will open with all three options "Open", "Save", and "Cancel".  These are not freshly imaged machines, so some setting must of been changed along the way to make this happen on this user's computer.
Repaired Acrobat, but this resolved nothing.
Also checked in IE to make sure that Adobe was enabled under the Programs tab.
Also, the option to view a pdf within the browser is not turned on.
    Any other ideas?

  • Anyone know why Adobe X & Adobe XI Crashes my shared network printer driver when printing a PDF

Anyone know why Adobe X & Adobe XI Crashes my shared network printer driver when printing on a domain, this only happens when I print a PDF.
I then have to restart the print spooler to get my printouts sent to the printer. I am using a Windows 7 32 & 64 bit environment on a domain. Users who aren't on the domain experience no issues and their printer drivers remain online and not grayed out.
When I print a PDF using Foxit Reader or Nitro PDF then all works fine, the moment I open a PDF using Adobe Reader X or XI then the shared network printer driver bombs out and I am back restarting the print spooler. If we roll back to Adobe 9 then we dont have any issues.
When you create a local printer driver all works fine, the problem is we don't encourage local printer drivers due to security.
We use Ricoh printer drivers, the MPC5501 PCL5C, driver version 1.2.0.0 with PDK version 12.65. We have also tried the PCL6 printer driver and Universal printer driver. All give the same result. The printer uses Winiprint Print processor using RAW as the default data type.
We have contacted Adobe Global Support who advised that they cannot assist with this query as this is on a Domain environment and we have to contact our IT Department.
We would really appreciate some professional help here to get a fix for this issue in order to address potential future occurance's

  • How to download a CSV file to a shared network folder ?

    Hi Experts,
I have created a report which exports a CSV file on application server using scheduled background job. I have used the OPEN DATASET feature to download the file on a location on the application server which is working fine.
But my requirement is that I have to download this file to a shared folder which is situated on another location and is shared in my application server as 'N' drive. But when I give the path of this N drive in my report, its giving runtime error that the <filename> is not open.
So pls help me how to give path to such shared network folder to download the file?
    Thanks,
    Vishal .

    Hi Guys,
I tried alot but it didnt work.
SO I decided to export the file on the application server only.
I created a background job that runs periodically and exports the file to C drive of the application server.

Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system

  • How can I display an image from a shared-network folder?

    Hi
Does anyone know how I can display images from within APEX that are found outside the database? What configuration have I missed?
Within Windows-Internet-Explore I can access the following image using the below URLs, BUT I cannot access it from within APEX?
What do I need to do so APEX can display theses images from our internal shared network folder?
both these URLs work within Firefox (but on APEX):
    \\Saremote\UPDOWNFILES_DIR\polk_insight.gif
    file://///Saremote/UPDOWNFILES_DIR/polk_insight.GIF
So within APEX I have created a "display as Text' Item that works with this "amazon image" syntax:
    {lessthan} IMG SRC= {doublequot} http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/associates/navbar2000/logo-no-border(1).gif {doublequot} {greaterthan}
BUT sadly not with my image:
    {lessthan} IMG SRC= {doublequot} file://///Saremote/UPDOWNFILES_DIR/polk_insight.GIF {doublequot} {greaterthan}
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Steve

If you have a local html file, or open an image locally from the menu, then yes, it works, but with web pages that are served from a remote location (web server), security kicks in and prevents the web page from accessing local files (and files on a networked drive).
you will either have to put the image on the web server and access it through http, or you can load it into the database/workspace images and access it that way.

  • Disable EFS on Windows 2012 shared Network folder

    Hi,
we have a Windows Server 2012 which is sharing a folder for all our domain users. We use EFS for some clients. If a client copies a file to the shared network folder, it should be automatically decrypted. But instead, the files are being copied with the
encyrption, so that nobody else can open it. Clients should still be able to encrypt their files.
We've already disabled EFS on the Windows Server, but the files keep their encryption, after copying.
Is there a way to disable EFS on a shared network folder?
    Best regards,
    Matthias

There is no such option for EFS. If it is allowed, then all EFS operations are allowed.

  • Installing Adobe Creative Suite to Shared Applications folder

    Hello,
I have a client asking to install Creative Suite to a shared application folder on the server. Can you anyone with some experience on this provide any feedback on performance, issues, stability etc? Is it even doable with Creative Suite to host it on the server, without using Home Directories?

If it can even be done performance is going to be devastated because of the fact that everything that "runs" need to be loaded over the network as opposed to from the local hard drive. If you think it takes too long for Photoshop to open now, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Without actually trying it first hand I can say it's not likely to be easy. Simply running the installer on the server definitely won't work. Creative Suite isn't a simple drag and drop install. There are a lot of shared components that get installed into locations other than the Applications folder and the clients won't know where to find them.
I hate to think the worst but the only reason I could even suspect wanting to do this would be to utilize a single licensed copy amongst multiple users which would be a license violation. I'd be wary.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Startup Error - Preference Folder

We keep getting this error every time we try and open up Premiere CC 2014 (See attached image)
We are on a MacPro5,1 (Mid 2010), OSX 10.7.5, Dual Quad-core Intel 2.4 GHz, 36GB RAM, 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770, latest CC 2014 installed on computer.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Sorry to hear that. You may want to update your OS as OS X 10.7 is not supported for Premiere Pro: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/os-x-107-supported.html
This may also help: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
It's for OS X 10.9 and later but may still occur on earlier versions of OS X.

  • Why is a shared, networked folder unavailable?

I help support a medium sized graphic design team. The team uses a number of shared volumes running on Windows 2008 servers, all of which are VM based.
Since we upgraded from Mac OS 10.6.8 to 10.7 and now 10.9 Mavericks, there is one production folder that has been particularly problematic. To users, this folder, called Current Jobs, always appears greyed out. Other folders on the same shared volume are fine and accessbile. The Current Jobs folder contains subfolders and about 750 Mb of data.
Users on older iMacs with OS 10.6.8 can see this folder fine. Users on Mac OS 10.7 and greater cannot.
Users with the newer operating systems can create an alias of the the Current Jobs folder and then access the contents of that folder like normal. The alias, however, is only usable once. Typically the users will then create alias to the subfolders and stored them as favourites to get around the main problem.
There are no permissions issues. The same permissions apply to all the folders on that share. Only the one folder, Current Jobs, is unavailable.
Anyone have any thoughts or lines of investigation?
    Thank you
    p

How about creating a new folder, move what you have in the old to the new. Then see what happens.
FIrst try creating it on the 10.6 Mac. If its still a problem, create it using one of the later Macs.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X Shared Review Process

I have a problem when addressing to one person's name when trying to send a review PDF. As shown in the image, the person's name does not bet recognized in MS Outlook. At this time, this is the only person's name that fails. However, I can send this person an e-mail through Outlook without a problem. Once I get the dialog box shown above, I get into a loop that I cannot get out of without cancelling. One time, it managed to send this person the review PDF and they stated that their name appeared twice in the To:  field.  Has anyone had this same problem?

I was just suggesting some troubleshooting ideas. I do know people have reported similar buggy behavior, for example: http://acrobatusers.com/forum/collaboration-commenting/shared-review-not-reading-outlook-g oups-members-correctly/

  • Shared network folder pdf

We update pdf files on a network drive on a daily basis early in the morning.  Some users leave  their pdf files opens which does not allow us to overwrite the file.  Is there a way to set the files so that the users opens the files as "read only" locally so that the network copy is not disturbed.  Can some security setting be set using the API's?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Can someone help?
    P

If the network directory is mapped to SAP then use OPEN DATASET else you need to do FTP.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.2) update adds CUDA processing with Maximus configurations

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.2) adds the ability to take advantage of a Tesla C2075 card for CUDA processing when that card is installed along with a Quadro card, which handles OpenGL processing. This configuration—in which the Quadro card handles OpenGL processing while the Tesla card handles CUDA processing—is referred to as a Maximus configuration.
    See this page for details:
    http://adobe.ly/premiere_pro_552

Here is what one of the Nvidia folks said when a similar question was asked elsewhere:
"That’s right; a Quadro 6000 and Tesla C2075 are not identical but they are very similar and you can expect similar performance. There are a few reasons you might want to use a Maximus configuration for Premiere Pro rather than a single Quadro 6000:
    1.  Having both a Quadro and Tesla GPU in the system means when the Tesla is cranking full-out on Mercury Playback Engine the Quadro is unaffected, so you can, say, open After Effects or other application that may take advantage of the Quadro, and system performance on that app will be better than if it was competing for resources with MPE on a single GPU.
    2.  In the future, we expect many users will want to run an animation application (using the Quadro) and a simulation application (on the Tesla) at the same time to provide animators with a level of interactivity they don’t have without Maximus technology. Example video is here. (http://youtu.be/_LagqqsVO28)
    3.  It costs less. A typical Maximus configuration has a mid-range Quadro (e.g. a Quadro 2000) and a Tesla C2075, which in that instance costs hundreds of dollars less than a single Quadro 6000 and offers similar performance plus the workflow advantage listed above.Of course, some users may want to run a Quadro 6000 and a Tesla C2075 and get maximum performance, but others can actually get the best MPE acceleration for less money with Maximus technology."

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909G Can't Scan to Network Folder - Install won't detect Printer

I have installed an 8500 on a wireless network.  There are 2 PC's;  1 is XP Home, the other is XP Pro, both are Service Pack 3.  The Router is a Linksys WRT54G2, Wireless adapters in both PC's are Linksys Wireless G - PCI cards.  Both PC's are running McAfee Total Protection software and they are up to date.  Windows Firewall is off.  I'm using a 9 char SSID (all alpha), it isn't hidden and I'm not using MAC filtering.  Security is WPA2 using a pass-phrase.  I have added SLP service on Port 427 in McAfee on both PC's for UDP and TCP.  (I've also opened up 135-139 and 445 for File sharing.)  All devices configure using DHCP.  The printer was turned on first and gets 192.168.1.100, XP Home gets ...101 and XP Pro gets ...102.  Signal strength for both PC's is Excellent and the LAN runs at 54.0 mps.  (I can't think of anything more to describe how everything is setup.  If anyone needs something else, just ask for specifics.)  Now the PROBLEM:
During installation: 1) XP Home discovers the printer just fine, all is happy and all works as advertised. 2) XP Pro doesn't see the printer when searching for printer (not recieving SLP Packets?), I have to go to advanced and search by IP Address.  There is some point after this that I receive an error saying I need to check port 427 etc.  I check continue installing wireless and ignore errors.  When install is done XP Pro CAN print.  I CAN run HP Solutions Center and scan.  I CAN'T go to the printer and press the scan button and "Scan to a Network Folder", I CAN'T setup this function for the XP Pro machine using ESS.  I CAN access EWS from either PC (that uses port 80).  I have tried turning off the McAfee firewall to no avail (of course McAfee doesn't exactly turn off completely - I have read in some other forums).  I'm not sure what to do next and I'm spending WAY too much time on this install (this is a customer of mine).  I was about to tell them I can't turn on this one option - then I tried to turn on file-sharing and found it doesn't work either!  I could point the finger at McAfee because it sounds like their kind of problem, however, both versions are identical, and both have been setup the same.  The only real difference is XP - Home vs Pro.  If anyopne has seen this kind of problem on an XP Pro box please let me know.  I'm now just scratching my head with no other options.

I have a customer with the EXACT same problem.  I HONESTLY thing that HP has a driver/firmware problem here.
Three different computers, A desktop, a laptop and a Netbook (sounds like a joke...)  NONE will allow Scan to Print.  I have installed/uninstalled around 9 times now - HP sent the customer a NEW printer in December - still no workee.  Spent 5 hours on phone with tech support - NO WORKEEE...
Here is the maddening part - the SCAN TO E-MAIL works PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!   ALL other functions work Perfectly - but Scan to File just fails stating that it can't find the computer.
I can ping the Printer, I have disabled ALL anti-virus, firewall software, scanned with Malwarebytes, TrendMicro Housecall, Eset NOD32, and Kapersky scanners with negative (good) results for bugs...
I'm just happy that SOMEONE else is having the problem... (so that I know that I'M not COMPLETELY crazy....)  (The scene in OFFICE SPACE keeps playing through my head, the one where they take the fax machine and play baseball with it...)
    Help!!!!
