Pointless phone call from BT.

"We are sorry to see you have already changed your broadband provider, & that your landline switches on the **th November.
I can see on our system when you called retentions on the 19th October you were passed to four agents who did not try hard enough to keep you as a customer. Can you tell me why you have decided to leave Bt?."
Me- Erm, Bt did not try hard enough to keep me!.
"I see, sorry about that. Can you tell me the best price offered to you by are agent that day?."
Me- I was offered a £4 monthly discount to stay with Bt, & then told i could pay £299 for a youview box - information a knew was incorrect.
"It appears on our system that you were passed to the wrong department by the first agent, & that the person who offered you that deal & information was a trainie. I am sorry for that mistake!.
Is there anything i can do today to gain your confidence in our service & custom again?."
Me- No thankyou, as i'm now in a new contract with & cheaper provider offering me a better deal & broadband features.
"I am in a position to offer you today 9months free line rental, a free youview box, & a further £6 off your broadband & vision service for 12 months!."
Me- That's no good to me, i've just started a new contract with a different provider.
"YES."
Me- Yes what?.
"I see your dilemma, we are sorry to have let you down!. On the plus side Mr *****S there will be no disconnection charges as you have gone beyond your contract period. However, your Bt vision box will soon cease to operate & that can cost you upto £250 to replace like for like!."
Me- There's no dilemma for me there!.
"Thankyou for your time today Mr *****S, Bt are still the best & reliable providers of phone & broadband on the market, you are welcome to return to us at anytime!. Unlike ourselves other providers sting their customers with hidden charges...... It's the difference between flying with BA or EasyJet, a less adequate service like EasyJet will charge you to go to the toilet."
Call disconnected.
Oh My Goodness..... Ha ha ha!.

Yep, living in the real world as i do makes me fully aware of that rather important fact.
However, other providers being 'nearly' as bad is not an excuse for Bt to continue providing a service that doesnt match their promises.
I had problems from day dot with bt selling me a package they later claimed didn't exist, & wasn't ever available through their website. They must've changed my order number almost half a dozen times trying to eradicated proof of my original purchase, & the 'so-called' mistake made in the online advertisement that apparently never existed....... exactly how something that they swear never happened can later be called a mistake by them is yet another stumper!.
Lucky for me that i kept the transcript of the convo i had with the sales agent, hence eventually got my original deal.
Fact is Bt are dishonest, their staff appear to be encouraged to lie & make customers feel that they're always at fault, wrong, liars, thick & generally unreasonable or impatient.
The nonsense with getting through to India & unplugging cables, flicking switches, checking & changing wires etc etc.... is just a basic two finger insult to the intellect & true value Bt place on their paying customers.
It seriously looks the only way to hope to get a result is to request (& in some cases beg) for help via this forum community, but even then its been noticed & noted' staff can & will be selective as to how & who they decide reply to!!!.
And if you really think i'm wrong..... then have a better look at the nature of the 'majority' of posts made here by their customers.

    To troubleshoot this issue where your Mac believes you iPhone is still on a call while trying to make a call from your Mac, please first reset your iPhone, and then verify you have the settings configured correctly on your Mac and iPhone.

    i would not want to bet on nokia ever releasing a patch or update in the software to allow this function on this particular phone.
    if you look at nokia phones over the years, they have added functionality like this across a wide range all at once, take for example timed profiles on symbian phones. these have only just been phased in.
    i do not think it is a development cop out, more along the lines that nokia is a huge company and as such would have a huge effor in market research. if they didnt pick this out through their market researc, why spend the money adding it?
    the comment on annoyance is entirely personal to me, as it is important to you - you may want to consider moving to a symbian (series 60) based handset as these give you a lot of expansion for this sort of need.

  • Harrassing phone calls from equipment recovery services when I have no equipment

    I cancelled my services with Comcast and returned all equipment. I have a reciept for the returned equipment and Comcast owes me a credit of more than $100. Yet, every day, several times a day, including saturday and sunda I get a phone call from "Equipment Recovery Services on behalf of Comcast" telling me i must return my equipment or be charged, then directs me to a website to  get help. I went to the website and Equipment Recovery Services shows that all equipment has been returned. I called Comcast to tell them to please stop this company whom they have hired from harrassing me, again confirming there is no equipment. Comcast told me to register for the do not call list. I am already on the do not call list. This issue is one caused by Comcast by hiring a contractor and not keeping them informed, it is NOT an issue with do not call. If I get another call I will be contacting local authorities and seeking charges for phone harrassmennt. What is with you comcast?

    As you mentioned, Equipment Recovery Services is a vendor group that's hired by Comcast. The equipment could be returned to either them or Comcast. I can confirm that there is no more outstanding equipment. Since you returned it to us, we then send Equipment Recovery a report that all equipment has been returned and to no longer call you. What we cannot control is how fast those calls stop. It is up to them to close your file and stop the calls. Only thing we have control of is sending them a report that everything is recovered and to stop calling you.

    I can't seem to make an actual phone call from my iPhone 4S.  I dial the number, and the phone at the other end rings.  But at my end there is nothing.  No ringing.  No person trying to talk to me.  What is causing this problem?  I have got all of the current updates loaded to my phone.

    My brother had a similar problem and he went to the Apple store and they gave him a new one under warrenty...she said something about the arial, I would give it a go.

    I have received a phone call from somebody purporting to be from BT Technical Services who understood we were having trouble with our computer and asking details about it e.g. IP address. I asked if I could ring them back and after giving me 0668 (which I repeated, as  a foreign sounding voice) they then rang off. The number displayed on the phone was 020909100 but when I tried to ring it back came up as not recognised.
    Being responsible I thought my duty to report to BT but have been unable to get in touch via 0800 800 150 as going through the options, as a TalkTalk line rental customer the recorded advice was to contact the provider!

    But basically make sure that iCloud is enabled with the same account in both your Mac and iPhone, turn off Wi-Fi calls if enabled in your iPhone and make sure that Facetime has the same accounts in your devices.
