Points System Incorrectly invalidated $50 and $5 certificate, left with $40...

To whom it may concern,
I received an email back on 12/24/2013 stating that My Best Buy redeemed my points for a $50 certificate.  I continued to purchase items without using the certificate.  On 12/30/2013, I received another email stating that My Best Buy redeemed additional points for a $5 certificate.  I have not made any additional purchases since the $5 certificate and yet when I attempted to use both of the certificates the other day, I was told they were not valid and had likely been used.  The only thing that I have returned was purchased on 12/30/2013 after receiving the $5 certificate.  The tablet was then returned in the following two days.  I know from previous experience that Best Buy only awards points on purchases at a minimum 30 days after the purchase has been completed to ensure that the awarded points are only given on items that have been kept.
Given this, why is it that your system invalidated my $50 and $5 certificates, and then proceeded to give me a $40 certificate instead? What happened to the additional points that your system issued back prior to downgrading me to a $40 certificate???  I'll be honest with you - I have already had multiple displeasing experiences at Best Buy and hope this will not be another one.  I can assure you that if it is, I will be transitioning my purchases to Amazon instead of through your company.

Good morning mrod5167, and welcome to the forum,
I can understand having questions if it appears that points are missing from your account or if certificates were cancelled for some reason.  After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your My Best Buy™ account, I believe that I can explain why those certificates were cancelled.  Whenever a return is processed, any points that were awarded for the original purchase would be removed.  The returns that you processed at the beginning of the year involved bonus points that you had been awarded from one of our private shopping events, so when removed caused your points balance to go negative and the two certificates to be cancelled.  Once the point values for the two certificates reposted to your account, you no longer had a negative balance, but only enough for a $40 certificate.

    Sorry, there is nothing you can do until the device is removed from the sellers Apple ID.

    your MacBook Pro has booted into its Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities menu, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get to the login screen now?

    Try different USB Cable, try different Charger. Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, most likely it could be battery or charging port assembly that need replacement.

  • How can I click on a bookmark and have it open a new page? When I click a bookmark it always opens right in the sidebar, all my bookmarks disappear and I am left with two seperate pages?

    I keep my bookmarks open at all times in the sidebar. If I want to go to a site, say Google, I must do a right click on the bookmark and then click on "Open In A New Tab" then the google page opens in a new tab.
    I want to skip the second click. I want to be able to simply left click the google booknark in the sidebar and have google open in a new tab.
    the way things are now, when I simply do a left click on the google bookmark the new google tab opens in tne sidebar itself. My bookmarks disappear from the sidebar and the google page is opened in the sidebar. So at this point I have two active page open at the same time.
    Is there a way to simply left click the bookmark in the sidebar and have the bookmark open as a regular page?

    Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.
    Right-click that bookmark and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.

    What do I do? This happens occasionally-out of nowhere the brush tool  stops showing as a circle of specfic diameter and shows as a crosshairs, which does me no good whatever. This goes for all tools using the brush presets-brush, eraser, and stamp. I can't do anything. because I can't see the tool I'm working with. I tried restarting PS, then restarting with trashed prefs. Neither worked.     Thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the caps lock issue, and I am ham-fisted enough to smash down the caps lock key inadvertently. I'll look into the graphics card driver. It's an AMD Radeon so it should be up-to-date via the Mac update system. I hope it's caps lock. That I can fix. Thanks again.

    Take a look in your Preferences>Accounts>Advanced to make sure the "Enabled" option hasn't been unchecked. That might cause the problem. Mine occasionally go awol and checking Enabled usually solves the problem.

    Sorry folks, but word has come down from above that abuse of the point system is counter-productive. There are management types that actually believe some users see points as an incentive to provide a quality answer, and that they wouldn't do so without the points, but that's not a widely held opinion among hosts. Nevertheless, I have to lock the thread, and warn you that at some point there will be official sanctions for those who post threads with the sole purpose of gaming the point system.
    If they don't want the point system abused then we need to do away with it. This forum is becoming less and less a place I want to help at. I think I will start looking for another Photoshop forum.

  • Intermittent System Hang at Restart and Shutdown

    Hi Everyone,
    I finally got around to upgrading my old iMac G4 to Leopard yesterday, and almost immediately found a problem that's driving me nuts...
    It started right after I installed Leopard from the DVD using Erase and Install, and updated to 10.5.7 using the combo updater. After the combo install completed successfully, I clicked "Restart," and was immediately left with a blank desktop (just the wallpaper, no icons, no menubar and no spinning pinwheel/spokes on the desktop as some others have seen) and the cursor (which is responsive). It looks like the Finder and Dock quit, and the restart or shutdown procedure then came to a halt. Some keyboard shortcuts still work, such as the ones to open the shut down dialog box, and the force quit box--but clicking any of the buttons does nothing. The keys for brightness, volume and eject also still work. The HD was quiet, and after about 5 mins I held in the power button to shut down. After restarting, I opened Console and found no log entries at the exact time I clicked Restart--in fact, nothing logged until the next power up.
    I restarted and shut down a few times after that, some while using Software Update. About half of those times, the hang occurred, and if there were any other open apps, they did quit along with the Finder and Dock. I decided to reinstall 10.5, using Disk Utility on the DVD to write zeroes to the disk before reinstalling. From there, I applied the 10.5.7 combo update--and from there the problem started again, and still apparently without any log entries. It's worth mentioning that I tried Leopard on an external FW LaCie HD connected to this Mac a few months ago (ver. 10.5.4 then), and the problem existed then as it does now.
    Other tidbits: The internal HD I'm using is less than a month old, and worked well with Tiger. The Mac passed the Apple Hardware Test on the original install CD. Disk Utility on the Leopard DVD found no problems and no permissions errors. I've used the Spotlight prefpane to stop it from indexing the HD, and I have Time Machine turned off. I've reset the PRAM. There are no peripherals attached other than the keyboard and mouse. There is no third party software installed (yet). I've tried looking at the forums on MacFixIt, and using google, but haven't found an answer. Any ideas?

    Update... After trying to find the source of the problem for a three weeks, including trying another Erase and Install using Kappy's suggestions, only to have the hang continue to occur repeatedly, I gave up and decided that Leopard has an unresolved bug that causes these symptoms on my old G4 iMac.. With the iMac going to Vintage status this month, I decided to reinstall Tiger on it, and it's future is now going to be life as a wireless print server.
    I bought a new Mac Mini with 10.5.6 preinstalled. Since the new Mac has a lot of software installed that I won't use (print drivers, languages, Garageband, iWeb...), I did an Erase and Install on the first day, and used the Combo updater to go to 10.5.7. Within a few hours of use, with no 3rd party software installed, the hang I described happened again--the Mini showed the exact same symptoms as the old iMac. Thinking it may be something with the Combo updater, I did another Erase and Install, and this time used the Delta update to go to 10.5.7. Since then--about two weeks now--the hang has not returned.
    As a side note to this, my parents own an Early 2008 iMac which shipped with 10.5.4 and was updated in March to 10.5.6 using the Combo updater. While helping them with it recently, it hung at restart--showing the same symptoms as my two Macs. This happened after they used it for about two months with no problems. I did an Erase and Install, and used Software Update to go to 10.5.7 (meaning the Combo updater was used). The hang hasn't happened again in the past two weeks.
    With 3 different Macs now showing these symptoms, I'm convinced it's a Leopard problem, maybe something in the Combo updaters. I'm going to be updating my wife's Powerbook G4 to Leopard using a retail Leopard disc, and will have to use a Combo updater to bring it to 10.5.7. If the hang occurs with her Mac, I'll post a followup.

I brought it back to the shop where i bought it Expert Laois last week and they said they couldnt find a problem but had to take it back today as it keeps disconneting from wifi still, anyway they are sending it back for repair and it am left with no ipad.  After spending in excess of 700e i feel that this is really bad after sales service.  I bought something that i want to use now and cant so what  a waste of money it is .

    On a Windows 2012 R2 member server of a Windows 2012 domain, I tried encrypting a folder, and I got a "Recovery policy configured for this system contains invalid recovery certificate message."  This is the first known attempt
    at enabling EFS within our organization.
    When I looked at the EFS certificate within the Default domain GPO, it had expired.
    Is it as simple as deleting and recreating the EFS certificate within the Default domain GPO?  Then running gpupdate /force on the Windows 2012 member server?
