Polarity Issues?
I don't know if it's my Touchpad but I noticed that the left and right channels are reversed. I uploaded my two Stereophile Test CD's and played back the channel identification tracks and the left channel comes from the right and the right channel from the left. Did anyone ever notice this? Thanks.

I decided to do some experimenting since I've been having audio issues. When playing these tracks through the external speakers, the appropriate channels were being played correctly but sometimes when I unplug my headphones, I get no volume so I have to refresh my screen (I use Google music for my musical needs most of the time). I restarted my TP and listened to the same channel ID tracks through my phones and they played correctly. I can't say what happened before but it was a bit discerning to hear John Atkinson's fender bass for the left "loudspeaker" come from the right side.
Oh well.

MacBook Pro not charging in Japan
I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2010. I took it to Japan recently and I was unable to get the computer to recharge. I have had occasional problems at home in the US with the computer not seeing the power adapter, but eventually it sees it and recharges. However, while I was in Japan, the computer NEVER saw the adapter. I tried different outlets and a borrowed Mac extension cord for the power block. Once I got home, the computer saw the adapter immediately. I am headed to Japan again, but obvious I don't want to schlep the computer with me if I can't recharge it. Any ideas as to why this happened or what I can do to get the computer to recharge? I didn't have time to make it to the Apple Store while in Japan.
It could be an issue with your power adapter or dc-in board. If the adapter is Apple, it should have the specifications for use in Japan. I know they have 100v there and between 50-60Hz depending where in the country you go. An Apple adapter should operate in that range. Maybe bring it to an Apple store before you go to have it tested and buy a new one if something's wrong with yours. You might as well bring your computer too so they can rule it out as the problem.
The only other thing I can think of is if there's a polarity issue with Japanese outlets. In the US you can plug your adapter in right side up or upside down. I'd imagine it would be the same in Japan, but who knows. -
DSL wont work on a different jack
We recently moved into this new apartment and got the dsl service with Verizon. I noticed my apartment had only two phone jacks in the entire house - one by the kitchen and the other in our bedroom. I really would like to install my modem in my bedroom but the dsl doesnt work when connected to that jack. However it does work o when connected to the kitchen jack. So the only way I can use my internet is to have my modem / router setup in the kitchen, which looks really ridiculous. How can I get the other jack to work for my internet? I dont know if there is a handy trick that I can do myself or is it something my apartment maintenance can take care of or is it something that only Verizon can do? Simply want to move my modem to the bedroom instead of the kitchen, thats all.
As a note, if a telephone does in fact work when connected to the bedroom phone jack, it could be possible that at some point, someone used DSL in your apartment and had a homerun installed. A homerun is essentially a setup where your DSL signal is filtered out at the NID (Network Interface Device), and a single jack is chosen in your house to deliver DSL service.
Just a thought. There could be some other problems too like a polarity issue that might be bothering the DSL (unlikely, though), or the jack could just have a very bad connection to the copper line.

Volume Pedal lowest value is 118...
I'm using a Yamaha volume pedal going to my VX8 on Pedal B. The default parameter of this is Expression, but even when I change it to volume in the controller, when it is fully back, the value in Main Stage is 118, and it doesn't start to tick forward till I'm 3/4 of the way up on it. There is no calibration setting on the pedal, and this same volume pedal works fine with my Triton Studio... I really use this pedal a lot when I'm playing organ, and this little problem could make things very inconvenient... Any ideas? I thought that this might be a controller issue since the controller is what sends the value, but I've got a UF 60, and I have the same exact problem with it...
Sounds like a polarity issue, which is common whenever you use the FC-7 with anything other than Yamaha. You can either rewire the TRS yourself, or for less hassle, order one of these:

Directly connect two N7700 via 100Gb link

We are using N7700 chassis with 100G line cards (N77-F312CK-26).
Transceivers are 100GBASE-SR10 (link).
I'm wondering if it's possible to directly connect two chassis using some 24-fiber MPO cable, e.g. this one.
My most concern is about polarity issues, because aforementioned cable doesn't have a possibility to change it in-place (unlike PanMPO connectors).
P.S. I've also found this document (link), that states such configuration is possible, although the cable from another manufacturer is used.Just received an e-mail from Panduit support:

Yes, our 24F cable is capable of direct connect. Fibers 1-12 on one end go to 13-24 on the other and 13-24 hit 1-12.

MSI P67A-GD65 hard drive light always lit
I built a new pc with this motherboard a few weeks ago and everything is great except for the hard drive light. It stays dim 100% of the time and does show hard drive activity so i know it's working. I switched the connector on the motherboard to see if it was a polarity issue, but then it doesn't work at all. I even used a different LED that wasn't connected to my case and removed all the other connectors (power, reset, etc) and it still stayed dim. Lastly, i removed all the SATA cables from the motherboard, all fan connectors with no luck. I would appreciate any information on this, and if it's normal or if something is wrong and i should RMA the board.

You should try the board out of the chassis. You may also want to try it in barebone conditions.
I tried that yesterday. Took it completely out of the case and left everything else off the board except for the ram and it still does it. Also used a separate LED to test that wasn't part of the case. In all the years i've worked on pc's, i've never seen this before. I guess at this point i'll have to live with it or buy another one and send this one back for RMA. I contacted MSI and they replied back with a suggestion to update the bios. This is going nowhere. While it probably won't actually hurt anything, i didn't spend $1500 on a new system to have problems with the motherboard.
Can someone help me test by using their MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) board? Disconnect JUST your power light from the motherboard to make sure no other light is interfering with the hard drive light, and see if it's still dimly lit at around 25% to 30% regardless if you're in the bios, or in windows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point. -
I can't see my photos opened with CS6 - Help with Nvidia GeForce GT issues?
I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite P855-335 laptop running Windows 8 with a Nvidia GeForce GT 640M video card, but I am only able to open my photos when I disable the Graphics Processor from within CS6 Preferences. When the check is active, I see a black screen and the photo is shown only in the Navigator. Is really anoying to have a useles yet powerful video card for my photo editing. My guess is that I am still able to work with my photos because the integrated intel HDGraphics400 video card jumps in when I disable the GPU within photoshop.
What I have done so far:
1.- Updated to the latest driver for my set up. I went to Toshiba website and latest driver was already active. Version 305.46 dated July 2012
2.- I called Nvidia and tried unsuccesfully to install a newer driver (310.90) because is not compatible with my card, they also suggested to install an older driver 304.709 but the operating system just did not want to update to an older driver
3.- I went to Photoshop help and followed instructions and none seemed to work:
3.1. made sure I had latest version of Photoshop CS6 Extended version 13.0.1 x64
3.2.- Set GPU settings to basic
3.3. Reset preferences (Crt+shift+alt) while starting photoshop
3.4. Checked Cache levels to 4
Maybe the biggest and unacceptable issue is that the reported NIvidia cards tested with Photosho CS6 doesnt include the 600 Series. It is quite annoying because all the other series are reported: nVidia GeForce 8000, 9000, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 series
any ideas to help?

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEUnfortunately, it seems that Toahiba has not improved their driver releases. As they repackage the nVidia drivers, a straight nVidia driver will seldom install properly. I had a Toshiba Satellite (biggest, baddest in its day), and it never got a video driver update. No nVidia drivers would install. I found this Web site, and for the five years that I used that laptop, it rewrapped every new nVidia driver, to install on the Toshiba: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers.
Predicated on a similar Toshiba thread, I checked for that old Satellite, and Toshiba had not issued a new one, four years later - so their one driver was about 9 years old at that point.

Performance Issues with Photoshop CS6 64-Bit

Issue at hand: over the course of the last few weeks, I have noticed significant issues with performance since the last update to PS CS6 via the Adobe Application Manager, ranging from unexpected shut downs to bringing my workstation to a crawl (literally, my cursor seems to crawl across my displays). I'm curious as to if anyone else is experiencing these issues, or if there is a solution I have not yet tried. Here is a list of actions that result in these performance issues - there are likely more that I have either not experienced due to my frustration, or have not documented as occuring multiple times:
Opening files - results in hanging process, takes 3-10 seconds to resolve
Pasting from clipboard - results in hanging process, takes 3-10 seconds to resolve
Saving files - takes 3-10 seconds to open the dialog, another 3-10 seconds to return to normal window (saving a compressed PNG)
Eyedropper tool - will either crash Photoshop to desktop, or take 5-15 seconds to load
Attempting to navigate any menu - will either crash Photoshop to desktop, or take 5-15 seconds to load
Attempts I've taken to resolve this matter, which have failed:
Uninstalled all fonts that I have added since the last update (this was a pain in the ***, thank you Windows explorer for being glitchy)
Uninstall application and reinstall application
Use 32-bit edition
Changing process priority to Above Normal
Confirm process affinity to all available CPU cores
Change configuration of Photoshop performance options
61% of memory is available to Photoshop to use (8969 MB)
History states: 20; Cache levels: 6; Cache tile size: 1024K
Scratch disks: active on production SSD, ~10GB space available
Dedicated graphics processor is selected (2x nVidia cards in SLI)

Any others with 27" iMac 10.9.4 memory issues... my experience.
Hi, I just thought I would provide my experience here to both see if others have seen and dealt with the issue - and to alert others that this may be something worth considering in upgrading from Mac OSX 10.9.3
My 27" iMac 11,1 update to 10.9.4 was a disaster. From the time I restarted my Mac it bogged down in performance and my applications were being paused (as seen in the Force Quit window). The mermory task_kernel was grabbing over 5 GB of my 8 and not letting go. At idle with no applications running all was fine with memory, but the moment I launched any of my standard browser (Firefox or Safari) or Windows apps (Outlook, PPt, Word, etc) or nearly anything else the Mac ground to a halt and applications were being Paused. Quitting applications did not release memory from task_kernel.
I finally re-installed Maverics from scratch and nothing changed. I tried Disk permissions and cleaning out as much as I dared and re-updating things like Flash but nothing made a difference.
For 3 days I searched all over the net for answers and could only find some reference to changing files that are energy-management related. Apparently this was an issue for many portable users in the upgrade. I tried their work around but this did not work for me either.
Being without a working Mac was getting to be too much so I finally decided to go backwards and used Time Machine (thank you, thank you, thank you Time Machine!) to go back to my last backup with 10.9.3. I held my breath when it started and with Activity Monitor running all started fine... and stayed fine! And has for days now.
By the way, I have an identical iMac with same software that was not upgraded that has stayed fine as well with every other upgrade but 10.9.4.
I do not know why this problem happened but clearly 10.9.4 is either not properly tuned for my Mac or it is creating a not so obvious conflict that is beyond my ability to manage. I could spend days trying to figure this out - or - just leave well enough alone and hope that Apple fixes the issue or let's us know what is going on that we should fix.
For now, it's goodbye 10.9.4 and will be looking forward to but apprehensively at 10.9.5Sorry, I had it ready didn't post. Even have the log file as it was happening. I took a video of Activity Monitor during it too.

I am having a number of issues including loss of import functionality from scanner, I can't drag and drop photos into the editor any more as well, or at least not after the first one. The crop function stops working after the first couple of photos. Then some freezing. A little added crashing. A plethora of other bizarre issues as well. This just stated happening a couple of days ago.
What I have tried:
Uninstall/Install.
Deleted preferences both before opening Editor (crontrol-alt-delete) and after opening it.
Kindly advise. Thanks!

OK! Check it, like I said in previous posts I seemed to have narrowed it down to specific mp3s not converting and playing in their native sample rate which if paired with another sample would give you the "audio midi sync" error and basically screw up your clock! It appears mp3 files converting to mp3 using iTunes would not convert to the correct sample rate if set to something other than 44 in logic and cause this. A tad peculiar Apple iTunes won't work with Apple Logic. I was able to confirm this on two mac's via my friend in Florida. He's running Tiger and tried the same experiment and Booya! Mickey Mouse! It appears this insane week long adventure has came to an end (...god willing) with a super specific unlucky shot in the dark on my part finally revealed to be an perfectly normal function of Logic (obviously one i'm not fond of..) As far as the errors / crashes / system overloads / kernal panics I think I can sort those out to the mackie onyx satellite not being a good choice and trying to add and remove firewire devices in the middle of the sample rate mayhem. Wow! all I can say is, I'm glad it's over

I have:
Ipod Nano 5G with Nike+ sensor and Polar wearlink Heartrate monitor:
works fine, linking is easy, but....
Software is rather minimal: Heartrate is on the screen and you get feedback when the center-button is touched.
To get better results, more functions would be useful, like defining a heartrate zone (like Polar`s own-zone) and automatic spoken feedback if the heartrate is out of the pre-defined range. Also automatic spoken feedback on actual and average heartrate every pre-defined time-interval would be very useful: like the spoken feedback on distance and actual pace I get on my Iphone with Nike+GPS
Anyone have any suggestions ?I have the same issue! I purchased a nano 6th, polar hrm so I could run and receive spoken feedback when my heart rate was outside my preset zone. My suunto t3 used to beep when outside the preset zones. Automatic, periodic beeps or spoken feedback is the most important information to receive during exercise. I hope apple can update the software to add this simple yet critical feature.

Filter - Render - Lighting Effects seems to be somewhat less than perfectly functional for me.
Unlike another recent poster, I'm seeing the controls okay, but they don't actually seem to work properly. Worse, I can reliably produce a crash.
I have an ATI Radeon HD 5670 and Catalyst 12.6 (latest released) drivers for Windows 7 x64, Advanced mode GPU operation. My detailed system info can be found here: Link
Chances are this is a display driver issue, but I want Adobe to know about it.

For testing I create a middle-gray square document, 8 bits/channel, sRGB, then start the Lighting Effects filter on it:
If I toggle the preview setting off and on a number of times, this happens:
This is reproducible, though it sometimes takes more or less Preview toogles. Here is the pertinent information from several such Photoshop crashes:
Next I am going to try Normal and Basic mode to see if they make any difference with this problem. I'll follow up here.

Logic 7.1.6 plug-in/audio-issues
Ever since I "upgraded" to Lion, I have had issues with Logic. I have another logic icon that is a "32 bit bridge" that just sits at the bottom now, yet I do not know what it is even doing because ever since it's showed up Amplitube/guitar rig3 just crackle and pop when playing with other tracks simoltaniously... It has NEVER done that before, nor delayed to that extent that it is now. I even get the feedback when JUST a midi drum loop is running. Also my 32 bit bridge crashes anyways and most of the time Massive is bi-polar and does not show up...At the same time, I have to click on the window to open the plug-ins to even edit them as they take a good 10 seconds sometimes to even run.....
Lastly a couple of my recordings from other songs are ending up mixed into a different song, the vocal tracks I lost were rough but I would be LIVID if it were an actual track that was mixed down...I tried to look around but I am yet to see too many people with an answer...
To recap, I use a macbook pro, logic ug from 9.0 to 9.1.6(because SL to Lion "UG,") and I am just running my telecaster into my built in audio...None of my hardware changed nor did i have any issues before. It seems to be any plug-ins for my guitar as I am not even using amplitube and guitar rig on the same Channel strip, yet BOTH do it! If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Jarid.*update* i read maybe rolling back the drivers may help, if anyone can confirm i may try it.

CS6 Not Responding - AMD Radeon 6630m issues
I have been faced with an increasing number of CS6 freezes, primarliy when in the middle of some quick select editing on raw files, which appear to be the video card. Windows informs me that the "Display Driver AMD stopped responding and recovered" in the windows task bar. After this message shows Photoshop is frozen, and listed as not responding in task manager at which point I have to kill the process. Are there any known compatibility issues with this video card and\or drivers and Photoshop? I have the latest driver from HP (this is an Envy 14), which had the version 9.0.0.0 driver from AMD. I tried the latest beta drivers from AMDs site and it gave me an error saying that the hardware was not supported and to use the manufacturer provided drivers.

Alright, so I got a macbook. I want to hook it up to my old dell FPW2005 monitor. I got a mini-dvi to vga converter and hook it to the vga port on my monitor. The monitor has a native resolution of 1680x1050. When I put it in this mode, everything seems fine but whole image is shifted over an extraordinary amount, about 1/3 of the screen. This is not an issue with the monitor because even at its most left shifted it is still shifted by a lot. Is there a way to adjust this in OSX or is there something that I am missing? Would a mini-dvi to dvi work? I do have a dvi-d port on the monitor but I don't wanna go out and spend $20 that won't solve the issue. I don't think that should matter. Has anyone else seen this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have heard of this happening. I think it may be a result of the horizontal sync polarity being wrong. I am nearly 100% certain you won't see the problem if things are hooked up by DVI.
