Pole-to-pole telephone cable damage needs reporting.

The telephone cable between two poles is missing the cover for the wiring connection. The cover was lying in the road. It was a "Western Electric" label, is thick black plastic, about 2 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. There is one of these about every two or three poles. I can see the wires sticking up on the connector.
The power pole nearest the missing cover has the ID N47006. It used to belong to Potomac Edison, Now it is Rappahannock Electric CoOp. It is about 100 yards from Beechwood Lane, on Holly Lane, in Bluemont, VA 20135.
I tried calling Verizon Repair, but when I finally reached a person, I was disconnected. I don't think service is broken yet, but the first ice storm of small bracnh would short the connections. That is why they have these heavy covers on the connectors in the first place.
I wish there was an easy way to report theses issues. I had the same problem last year during the bliard. Since I am not a Verizon customer, I don't get listened to anymore. (Not that I was treated any better before!!!)
If a customer service or repair person would pass this along to whomever is responsible, I would hate to see my neighbors lose their service.

Verizon support is in receipt of this issue. We will send you a PM to gather additional information.
Thanks,
Tonya D.

Thanks for your help. Sorry for not explaining properly but the cable kit original kit is damaged as it was chewed by my rabbit and it'sthecable from the hub to the bt vision box I'm looking for. I don't want to go into a shop and get ripped off with an expensive cable so just looking for a cable I can from online (but need to know what I'm looking for, which I don't! I am so clueless!).
Thanks again. Hope you know what I mean now.
Ah, my bad. I took it you were either coming back to BT or was explaining to us that you were already a BT customer and was thinking of taking out BTVision and was wondering what cables were needed. The reason I mentioned scart and hdmi was purely to let you know that the only additional cost would of been an HDMI cable.

  • What is the exact name of the cable I need to connect my old hard drive from my macbook pro (it has been taken out of the computer) to my new macbook pro?  I need to transfer files from the old hard drive to the new computer.

No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

At the apple store they said I needed an esata to usb wire.  But looking at wires on line has been confusing.  Is sata the same as esata?  How do I know if I need a usb 3 or usb 2?

    According to:
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/p/19351107/19767627.a spx#19767627
It has DVI ports.  This means you are best to use an adapter that supports DVI.  Note there is no audio that carries over DVI.  What you need is a mini-Displayport to DVI adapter, and the proper DVI cable. Since Dell doesn't have the specs, you'll need to tell us if you have pins or holes, and how many are grouped.

Can anyone tell me the cable I need to with the iMac & how to do it. I have music and photos on the iMac I cannot access.
Also, do I need to special CD/DVD external drive/burner to import music CD's into iTunes? I have tried and it keeps coming up with formatting problems.

Can you clarify whether you're using a MacBook Pro or a PowerBook?  Your post is ambiguous.  For good measure please tell us when it was purchased new.

  • No audio with HDMI cable connect - need optical cable?

I have just connected my AppleTV 2 with my Pioneer ELITE 910 HD Plasma TV system.  I have a hard wire ether net connected.  I have a great picture coming out of the HDMI connection from AppleTV plugged into my ELITE 910 HDMI Media Receiver.  But I am not hearing audio.  I have gone through the 'settings' menu on the AppleTV screen and have every setting correct (I believe)   It might appear that I may have to purchase an Optical Digital Audio Cable that would input into my Pioneer ELITE VSX-54TX receiver (that does have an Optical Digital Input that has not been used.)
Am I on the right track?  I was hoping the video AND audio would travel through the HDMI connection.   I don't want to spend money on the cable if I don't need it.

Re: No audio with HDMI cable connect - need optical cable?
Yes, audio and video should go via HDMI.
Do other peripherals work ok with the pioneer over HDMI.
My LG BlueRay player works fine.  My TIVO works fine -- good audio and video
AppleTV is a bit odd with audio at times.
Does the pioneer media box handle doilby digital and linear PCM?
I don't know what "linear PCM" is.  All the specs on this 2004 system are here:
    http://plasmatvbuyingguide.com/plasmatv/pioneer-pro910hd.html
If you have Dolby Digital set to Auto I'd expect you to get some audio - if set to On and media box can't decode DD then you may get no sound.
Try cycling those settings as well as the one for audoo bit depth.
Have done all this.  Still no audio

  • Does anyone know what sort of cable I need to hook a Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED scanner up to my new MacBook Pro? Thank you

Does anyone know what sort of cable I need to hook a Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED scanner up to my new MacBook Pro? Thank you

    A FireWire 400 to FireWire 800 cable:

You may have a problem with Nikon's driver software for the 10-year-old scanner, though — Nikon may not have updated it for compatibility with recent OS X versions. Check Nikon's site for updates.

  • Worth replacing my telephone cabling with Cat5?

I shall soon be having Infinity installed in my home office to replace ADSL. My office is in a detached building and I have a 20 metre run of bog standard telephone cable from where the BT cable enters my house to the master socket in my office. Am I likely to see any speed benefit by replacing this with Cat5e cable? My house is approximately 300 metres from the fibre cabinet.
    Thanks

    Hi Disco
As pippincp mentioned, for the network side of things it's best to go for CAT6 to future proof your network. For your office network you can ask the BT engineer to install the new master socket as the service enters the house. That way you will get the best possible VDSL signal. The modem should be sited there. The HH3 could be sited there also or in your office connected via the CAT6.
Yes, you could also use CAT5/6 for the telephone connection to your office. I wanted to standardise comms in my house so I installed CAT5 for the phone to another room in the house. I already had the cat5 wired up for the phone extension. The BT engineer installing my infinity was very helpful and wired the CAT5 directly into the backplate (user) connection side.

  • What cables are needed to extend the range of my airport extreme with my time capsule

I just purchased a new Time Capsule, and I want to install it and use my current Airport Extreme to extend our home's wireless network. What extra cables are needed, and is there a diagram for this setup? We currently have a broadband network.

Apple's instructions to do this are here:

You will need an Ethernet cable to connect your new Time Capsule to the AirPort Extreme.

  • Plant maintenance damage analysis report

    Hi,
Could anyone please tell me how to fetch the damage analysis report with the code and description, t-code MCI5 does not give the description of the damage code.
Better, can someone please provide me with the steps to create a new MIS report with the use of infosets and infostructures,
    thanks
    ansar

    Beatle,
Once the report is executed, choose  the menu settings > Characterstic display > key and description to display both the Code and the associated description. If you want toset this for specific user always, choose the user settings on the initial screen and set the Characteritic display to "Key and description"  in the parameters screen.
    Hope this helps.

4005 will appear in the recovery system hardware cause it? I have tried to replace numerous devices and cables, but still reported 4005.

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • Micro-Flex connector cables damaged in E90 housing...

Hi guys, something terrible happened during the attempt to change housing on my E90 communicator, I must have accidentally damaged the Micro-Flex connector cables while disassembling the internal components from it's old housing.
The external screen & keypad doesn't work now, only lights up during power up & is completely dysfunctional as a phone, along goes all my camera functions.
I am in desperate need of these connector cables "which I'm pretty sure is the culprit" to get my phone back into it's old working order again, the E90 was the best S60 OS phone I have ever had.
Since it broke down I've gone on to switch to an Nseries N900 which I never thought I would ever do, but the wait for a new communicator has left me cold, I am much obliged for any help.

  • Please can someone tell me what cable I need to connect my Macbook Pro 15'' Retina display to a Yamakasi Catleap Monitor?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook Pro 15'' Retina and I'm thinking of getting a Yamaksai Catleap Monitor, please can someone tell me the best way to connect this? Do I need a thunderbolt to DVI connector, or Thunderbolt to VGA? Im assuning the former would be superior! Please can someone advise?
    Thanks very much in advance,
    Cheers,
    Guy

    Hello,
Some UK links... You can use any of the following to get the video signal out of the iMac and into a standard format:
    Mini DVI - DVI
    Mini DVI - VGA
    Mini DVI - Composite/S-Video.
The DVI will give you best quality, but VGA will be simpler. The DVI to HDMI connector is:
Buy a DVI to HDMI connector (link). Long HDMI cables are pretty expensive though.
Although HDMI can handle sound as neither DVI, MiniDVI nor VGA do you'll need to connect the sound separately. Simply connect the sound out on the iMac to the input on the TV using a cable like this:
    3.5mm to RCA.
If you use the miniDVI to VGA connector here's a long VGA cable (link).
All Macs since about 1999 have had +DVD Player+ installed. I'm not at my Mac right now to check Front Row in Leopard but Front Row in Tiger certainly played DVDs (but +DVD Player+ is a better, more flexible DVD Player).
    cheers
