Poll: iTunesU in production?

We are about to meet with some of the potential content providers for our iTunesU installation, and we were thinking it might be useful to see what kind of time scale other schools see for their deployment.
Is your institution currently using iTunesU in a production environment?
If not, what kind of timeline do you see for deployment?
It seems that at the current stage of development a production deployment of openly available material, such as marketing audio and video content is probably possible, but one of our major concerns for classroom material is the recent incident where the main iTunes store upgrade also affected access to iTunesU for the better part of a day.
  Mac OS X (10.4.6)

We're not in production yet, but we're gearing up for it. We've just finished the information architecture for iTunes U, and are now working on implementing it and uploading content.
Authentication is now working down to the course level, and we're in the process of recruiting faculty and student groups who are interested in being trailblazers. I hope to have our faculty test group up and running within two weeks, students by the end of the fall semester, and iTunes U in production by the start of the spring semester.
We're doing a gradual rollout, partly to fully understand the issues we'll encounter while scaling up, partly to figure out the integration issues with Blackboard, Drupal, and/or Moodle, and partly to get our mobile recording rigs in line.

  • DNP3: Problem with Send Poll Device Attribute Vi - Group 0

We are using the Labview DNP3 library to test our DNP3 slave. When the DNP3 master (Labview) sends group 0 variation 248, to get the serial number (using the Send Poll
Device attribute Vi), LabView is using qualifier code 6, instead of 0, which is incorrect. See DNP3 spec (IEEE 1815-2012) page 364.
Is there a problem with the Vi or anything we can do the make it to send qualifier code 0?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I tried to reproduce it with two kinds of masters available by my side - TMW's DNP3 master and VI master, using the first to poll all attributes and using the latter to poll two attributes (product name and serial number) from a VI client, and with both TWM's built-in packet capturer and Wireshark, I found the the qualifier code for serial number is 0x0, instead of 0x6, as shown in the attached screenshots. So I think there is no error in this.
I use DNP2.1 for the test.

  • Urgent pls : sftp proxy service failing to get the file

    Hi All ,
I have a proxy service polling for a file . I have setup the service on test environment , where it works fine . When i deploy the same code with only change is the Managed server target for polling , as the production server is clustered .

Nop... The poller gets the file, but then publishes in a distributed queue, which means that any managed server can process it. Therefore, they need acesss to a shared file system.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15022/config.htm#OSBDG176
    Section 4.1:
"Oracle Service Bus load balances File, Email, and FTP transport processing across the managed servers in a cluster. All managed servers in the cluster should be able to access the Archive, Stage, and Error directories specified in any File, Email, or FTP proxy service configuration. These directories should be configured in a shared file system such as NFS. By using a shared file system, users and programs can access files on remote systems almost as if they were local files."

  • LAN Health Check

I am working on a project at work and need some suggestions. I need to develop a LAN health check process/guideline to perfrom LAN health checks.
I am evaluating some tools from Solar Winds and would like to try some from cisco, any ideas on what i could use, cisco commands etc.
I am interested in what goes on in the LAN part of the network, errors on ports, port-channels, trunks and interfaces.
    Any suggestions is welcomed.

That'll depend on the frequency of their polling.  Because products like these use SNMP, it's not bandwidth intensive.
If you are going to code the application yourself, good on you.  You'll need to do a lot of SNMP get to figure out what you want.  If you want to build up a historical data then you'll need to spin up an SQL database and you'll need to code those too.
The good part about what you are doing is that you tailor the application to suit your need and requirements.  This is more true when you want to generate reports.  With Cisco PI, for example, there are a set amount of reporting options.  These reporting options cannot be adjusted.  If you want a report thats not in the menu then you'll need to generate several reports and correlate them.  This process alone is a waste of time and CPU resources.

    Hi,
Assuming the version of essbase is the same,
    1. Export data (level zero or all) from each app
    2. Create apps and databases in new environment
    3. Replace otl file, calc scripts etc with ones from old environment
    4. Import data
    5. Calc (if level zero data loaded)
Ensure cache settings are the same on each db compared with the old environment.
    Thanks,

  • Create survey/poll with text fields

I want to create a survey in a meeting with text field type answers.  How would I do this?  I am using the hosted version of Connect and saw some reference to a Presenter add-in for PowerPoint, but don't seem have that.  We would like to have fields such as:
    Participant information (name, contact information
    Suggested future topics
What should I use to do this since the Poll Pod obnly allows for multiple choice or multiple answer options and not key-in fields?
    Karl

Adobe Presenter 7 is a product sold separately from Adobe Connect. Adobe Presenter can be purchased from many resellers.  It is a plug-in for MS Powerpoint and has the ability to upload many times of quizzes and polls in lots of types of formats.  You can download a 30 day trial from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=presenter&loc=en_us
Adobe Presenter is only available for the Windows platform. MS Powerpoint for Mac does not allow third-party plug-ins like Presenter.

  • Libreoffice and Firefox take ages to start, get stuck at polling

Hello. Whenever I launch Firefox or Libreoffice, they take around 15-20 seconds to start. I'm not using the Libreoffice Quickstarter here. When I searched online for others who've faced the same problem, I found this problem to afflict Firefox 4 and some older versions of Libreoffice. Both programs were supposed to have a problem with polling for something in the network; I didn't exactly understand what those people were talking about, sorry.
However, I did understand enough to disable both wireless and ethernet on my laptop and open both programs, and voila! Both opened in around 5-7 seconds. While I use NetworkManager for my networking needs, this problem was seen in wicd as well. I used strace, and I could see that there was a section where the word "POLLIN" jumped out at me where the execution would stop for 5 - 10 seconds whenever I started either FF or LO.
Another weird thing is that another friend of mine (on Arch 64 with Cinnamon) on the same network faces no such problems. His Firefox and Libreoffice start up as fast as mine do with my network turned off.
Some relevent hardware and software details:
Arch 64 on an Intel Nehalem i5 460M
Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe
NetworkManager and wicd installed, I prefer using NetworkManager
Has affected all Firefox versions from 19.0-1 onwards (when I installed arch on this laptop)
Has affected all LO versions from 4.0.0-1 till the present one
Also, if it's relevant, systemd-analyze blame tells me that NetworkManager and it's wait-online service regularly take around 29 and 16 seconds respectively, while wicd takes only around 2 seconds.

  • Whiteboard, Polls, Q&A and Powerpoint not working over Federation

    Hi,
I have a problem with whiteboard, polls, Q&A and Powerpoint sharing over federation, if the federated endpoint is behind a web proxy with HTTPS inspection enabled. Audio, video and desktop sharing works fine.
    Scenario:
2 Domains which are federated (DomainA and DomainB), all Lync servers are full patched (June 2014)
2 Users (UserA from DomainA and UserB from DomainB) works with full patched Lync Client 2013. Both Users work on their internal LAN. The client cannot reach the internet directly. Web requests go to through a proxy with HTTPS inspection.
    1. UserA starts a Chat with UserB. UserB accepts.
    2. UserA adds the whiteboard. UserB gets the "Add meeting content" button and accept.
    3. UserA gets the whiteboard, UserB gets a error message "Because of network issues..."
In this scenario, UserB's Lync client tries to connect to WebConf Edge of DomainA over TCP/443 (HTTPS). Because UserB cannot reach the Internet directly from the inside LAN, the request goes trought the web proxy of DomainB (ProxyB). The web proxy is configured
with https inspection, so on the WebConfEdge I get requests from the web proxy of DomainB which are also answered by the WebConf Edge. On the pc of UserB I also get the answer, but signed with a certificate of the web proxy which is added as trusted root certificate
(normal behaviour if https inspection es enabled). On the network trace, as I can see, UserB resets (ACK, RESET) the connection to WebConf Edge directly after receiving the first https response.
Then I changed the web proxy (ProxyB) to bypass the https inspection for the ip address of the WebConf Edge of DomainA. The same scenario works fine now. It always works fine, if UserB have directly access to web conf edge of Domain A (UserB is in the internet
    and not in the LAN).
I also could check this vice versa. It depends on which side, the conferencing is hosted. As soon as the other user connects through a web proxy which doesn't bypass the request directly, the user do not get the web conf content.
Then I tried with other domains and other environments, but all of them had the same issue, as long as the web request from the foreign user goes throug a web proxy. It seems there is no dependency on which product of web proxy will be used, it seems to
be a dependency on https inspection and all changes the web proxy do in this case with a web request and response.
I always tested with whiteboard, but the same behaviour is with Q&A and polls and also with Powerpoint (WAC). For Powerpoint it's only because the foreign user do not get the URL from web conf, so the client do not know how to connect to the WAC of DomainA.
During the tests with several Domains (customers), I see a corrupt "Client Hello" from a specific web proxy. In the list of cipher suites in the "Client Hello", the web proxy added an additional byte (0xFF) at the last TLSCipherSuites
entry, so the extensions, followed by the ciphersuites list in the "Client Hello" are not readable. So the connection will be reseted directly.
Because my workaround depends on the web proxy of the foreign side (configure bypass) it's not really a practicable way to make sure, the web conferencing content will work. Is there an other way to solve this issue?
    Regards, Stephan

    Hi,
From your description, the issue should be the
https inspection on the web proxy, maybe you should change from the web proxy side.

  • Is there a way to get several serial data lines to poll and respond quickly?

I have a PCI-485/8 card where I need to use all 8 ports. Attached is the vi that Ive developed so far. It works well when there are only 1 or 2 ports. But it really slows down the calling vi when I get up to 8 ports. The Read Delay is intended to set the polling pace, which is used to set the data logging rate. The calling vi is a timed while loop where dt = 0. Due to constraints of the polled device, I cannot set the delay less than 1200 mSec, so its set to 1500 mSec as a safety margin.
The poll string is !!SS0n where n is the address number and must be followed by \r\n. Because the poll must be terminated with \r\n, the termination character (for the VISA Configure Serial Port function) cannot be A or D (hex). Otherwise it sees its own poll, terminates, and then ignores the responding string. (The polled devices works from RS-485, 2-wire.) As a secondary question, Id like to know if there is a way to have it ignore its own poll string. But the bigger issue is that its dreadfully slow (i.e. around 10 seconds) with all 8 ports configured. The goal is to have this thing run at a consistent 1500 mSec.
Please note that I may be approaching the program from a wrong direction and Im certainly open to use a better way. For example, it may be more appropriate to obtain the data continuously instead of using a polling scheme. The devices being polled is capable of sending data continuously. However, I choose to use the polling method for three reasons. 1) The device does not send data at a continuous rate. (They are slow and not particularly stable.) 2) The provided data string is not consitent. The string varies in length, which may be the cause of the first problem. 3) There is a project scheduled where I will need to poll at least two devices on each port. (I realize that will really slow things down, but Ill cross that bridge when I get there.) In other words, Im open to set the devices on the ports in continuous mode if thats the only way to get a fast and consistent system.
The application is for an off-shore oil rig where they want to monitor and log data from 8 winches that operate the anchor lines. Im using LV 7.1, Win2000, NI-Serial v1.6. Please advise

Split this into 3 VIs. The first configures and opens the ports (everything to the left of the VISA Writes). This VI executes before the timed loop starts. The second is in the polling loop with the Error lines passed via shift registers. This includes the Writes, Bytes at Port, and Reads. The VISA Close and the analysis are in the third VI (outside the timed loop). This prevents the program from initializing and closing the ports repeatedly, which may take much longer than you think.
Also, I would put the Reads inside a Case structure that only calls the read if Bytes at Port > 0. Some devices do not like zero byte reads.

  • Can we have a poll?

I love the Oracle forums, i do not like the new upgrade. Can we have a poll to see what the users here think? Also, can we have a poll to see who will actually give out points?
Here is what i do not like:
    1) System is slower.
    2) I have to restart my entire browser to get the forums to work.
    3) The new look is cartoonish.
    4) There is a point system where people give out points. This makes it a game instead of a discussion.
    5) The heavy use of javascript.
Here is what i do like:
    1) Directed forums where Oracle users can get together and discuss.
    2) A decent search functionality for old posts.
    3) The preview tag. It is easier then the previous system.
    Requests:
    1) Add an option "Uncheck Mark this thread as a question by default". I have no plan to join this game by distributing points, and i'm too lazy to uncheck the box.
    2) Allow ignores. That is, i do not want them to ban them from threads in any way; i just want to have their posts filtered from my view.

    Never mind polls.
There is an easy way to resolve once and forever the smell dung known as Jive. It is called APEX.
Oracle needs to create an APEX workspace for OTN Forum on their hosting site - with access to a schema that contains the OTN forum tables and sample data. We deal with it as an Open Source Project and develop an APEX application for it. Source controls and change management can fairly easily be used in APEX. This will allow a beta/quality assurance APEX app that gets build with the latest changes - and after being tested by users and vetted by OTN admin, gets deployed into the live APEX OTN forums application.
I know that it will work technically. Been using Oracle and APEX long enough in dev and prod environments to make this call with a fair amount of confidence.
I also know that Oracle will not even consider such an option.. as Open Source is foreign to them with the exception to the very few that works on Linux projects (like ocfs). And that is a true shame. As such a project will give APEX not only an invaluable boost technically (with the inputs of the very large APEX community on an Oracle production APEX app), not only serve as a marketing sword that can be wield widely against oposition, but also make OTN forums truly community owned. You want a new OTN feature? You now have the ability to develop it, have it tested and vetted and implemented.

  • Can we have a high Polling interval

    Hi All,
It is a File to R3 scenario. I have three questions:
    1. Can we have a polling interval as 5 hours. If not what is the least time that can be given.
    2. The files might be put by the users in the end of the day. So, can the communication channel be turned on and off only when the files are put in the ftp. And if the channels are on all the time, is it a problem.
    3. The Production landscape was also configured newly. Now i have done the configuration in Production. The receiver channel is a XI adapter. Now can i check if everything is working fine. I mean how can i check if the data will get transferred to the R3.

    Hi Lavanya,
    >>>Can we have a polling interval as 5 hours. If not what is the least time that can be given.
Setting polling interval in comm channel level is not best practice/suggestable...you can schedule the channel in RWB ATP so the channel would be available in that perticular time period
    >>>The files might be put by the users in the end of the day. So, can the communication channel be turned on and off only when the files are put in the ftp. And if the channels are on all the time, is it a problem.
Though the channel available all time it is not a problem...but any way if you think files will be arrived only at perticular time then ATP scheduling would be the better option
    >>>The Production landscape was also configured newly. Now i have done the configuration in Production. The receiver channel is a XI adapter. Now can i check if everything is working fine. I mean how can i check if the data will get transferred to the R3
you can check SXMB_MONI transaction in SAP ECC system
Also check the below blog for ATP:

  • FTP Adapter stops polling on updating descriptors in BPEL Console

I have a bpel process activated by a file in a FTP dropzone. An FTP Adapter listens to this dropzone. I have set up a few preferences (Deployment descriptors) for this process. Once when I update any of these user defined preferences, ftp adapter stops polling the dropzone.
    Any idea why this happens?
    Workarounds?

    Hi Shishir,
Bouncing the server working most of the times, which might not be possible all the time in case of production environments ;/
Do you find any errors on the logs when the cube engine and activation loggers are set to DEBUG ?
Could you please mail me your project to [email protected] ?

  • Production issue - Sender File adapter not picking up the files from folder

    Hi Guys,
Ever since the upgrade from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1, we have come acrossinstances of weird error.
Thsi time again - now the 3rd time - tandom basis, in our production PI server, we have teh file slying in the source directory folder in the server.
I can see the files lying there in AL11.
However, it looks like that the file polling has just stopped and the channel is going blank in channel monitoring.
I have checked in SXMB_MONI and there are no messages since the morning.
I have tried craeting a replica of the current channel but it is not working.
This is teh production server and thsi has alraedy created production issues.
I ahve checked in the SDN forum but am not able to find the details.
    Plaese help me.
I am anyway going to raise the issue with SAP now.

    Hi Prateek,
I have trying all sorts since the morning and then just checked teh file permissions.
The file permissions were incorrect as compared ot the other files that were processed successfully today.
Somehow the permissions were changed on the server and the interface channel was not able to poll the files.
I got teh permissions changed back to 666 and all the files were pikced up in a minute.
I got the folder checked and it seems like that the permissions were changed somewhere very early in the morning and we are trying to find out how it happened and who did that.
However, another question i had - this sender file adapter was polling the source directory and deleting the files from there.
I would have expected that if the channel had issues with the file permission because of which it was not able to access the file, it would have thrown an error something like the file permissions error.
But there was not a single error in the channel monitoring.
How can we configure it in a beter way so that we at least soem kind of error indication?
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Archana
