Polling at intervals

Where do we require to mention time for polling the data automatically by communication channel? I know we go
with planning availability times for adapter to poll automatically, but where we define the time interval to poll the
data?

Hi
in sender communciation channel..we will mention time interve. Their is an option called  poll intervel in sender communication channel,
poll intervel: 60 secs
then in 60 secs the file will pick from the soucrce

    Hi Experts,
I know Sender File Adapter and JDBC Adapter supports polling. Is it possible to use polling in webservice scenario?

    Sara,
Can you go through the urls:
    sender JDBC by schedule function
    JDBC
If it doesnot work for you, then try to see the SXMB_MONI or the JDBC
    Try using:
"Disconnect from Database After Processing Each Message" indicator

  • Custom Logical Disk monitor incorrectly flapping between healthy and unhealthy

One of the clients Ops Mgr 2012 SP1 UR8 environments I am supporting has had some custom logical disk monitoring setup; there are 5 groups dynamically populated by logical drives depending on their size (1st group has small drives up to the last group with
very large drives). There is a 'Warning' and 'Critical' Monitor setup per server OS version, the Monitors are not Enabled. There are Overrides applied to each group to enable the Monitor and apply a threshold - different threshold for each group.
During some BAU tuning I could see that some of the above Monitors were appearing as Top-Talking alerts. Further investigation showed that alerts were being triggered by drives that momentarily dropped below the applied threshold. I re-created the Monitors
from 'Simple Threshold' to 'Consecutive Samples' and set the 'Number of Samples' to 6 @ 3 minute intervals.
What I am seeing is that alerts from the above Monitors are still appearing as Top Talkers. When I check the Health Explorer of repeating alerts I can see the disk space is staying the same, below the applied threshold but the health is turning healthy then
back to unhealthy. I have confirmed each noisy Object has the expected threshold as per its dynamic group allocation and have also confirmed the drives are not fluctuating above and below the threshold. One thing I have noticed is that some drives Performance
View is patchy - lots of dotted lines between the coloured lines.
Its almost like the Monitor moves a Logical Disk Object into unhealthy state in the correct (and expected) manner, then it somehow picks up an incorrect threshold which is below the current usage level. This moves it into a healthy state only for the
whole process to repeat. For example: Drive X: on a server is very large, the Group that it sits in has a threshold of 102400MB, its current usage is ~stable at 45500MB. Looking in Health Explorer I can see 3:01pm green state/ 45573 last sampled value/ # of
    samples 1 | 3:16pm yellow state/ 45573/ 6 samples | 3:34pm green state/ 45572/ 1 samples | 3:49pm yellow state/ 45571/ 6 samples | 4:01pm green state/ 45425/ 1 sample etc etc.
I'm scratching my head on this one and would appreciate any suggestions or assistance.
    Thanks
    BT

Thanks for the reply. It is not just one server / drive this is happening on. I am seeing it on everything; once they go into an unhealthy state they periodically go healthy and back again with no change in disk free space. Just to elaborate on how it is
setup; a Monitor has been created for each OS version (2003, 2008 and 2012) and a separate Monitor for Warning and Critical so 6 Monitors in total. Looking at the Warning Monitors; they are created with a threshold of 5120MB for 6 samples and set to disabled.
The following groups have been created and the following thresholds added:
Group 1 (less than 60GB size): override added to enable. This group will then pick up the 5120MB threshold.
Group 2 (60 – 250GB size): override added to enable and override added for 10240MB threshold
Group 3 (250 – 500GB size): override added to enable and override added for 20480MB threshold
Group 4 (500 – 1TB size): override added to enable and override added for 51200MB threshold
Group 5 (>1TB size): override added to enable and override added for 102400MB threshold
One drive I was looking at was in Group 2 (threshold of 10240MB), it was staying at approx. 8500MB but periodically going into healthy state then after 10mins (6 polls @ 2min intervals) back to unhealthy. This process repeats once or twice per day.
I am wondering if the Object is somehow picking up the threshold of the Monitor (5120MB) then going back to its correct overridden threshold. I have setup some test groups and monitors in a lab and will review the results over the coming days.
When the monitors were setup as 'Simple Threshold' this worked fine but were noisy due to drives spiking downwards. It was only when I re-wrote them as 'Consecutive Samples over Threshold' Monitors that this issue has started occurring.
    Thanks

  • Speed of email with the classic

If you mean the hosted Verizon email, you won't have that with BB10. BIS is not used by BB10 and you will be using a regular data plan.
I don't use either of those email providers so can't say. You will have to try and see.
I can say outlook.com is instant. I used it first as IMAP and now as EAS and both are same in that regard. But advise EAS for other reasons if you use Outlook.com. You can search and read about it.

That's correct. Not all email providers provide IMAP or EAS so that leaves the email account to be polled at intervals set on the device. This is how every other mobile device on Earth works. BB and their BIS service was the only system that didn't care and delivered most email instantly. The BIS system did the polling. That said, not all email accounts were instant even on the old BIS devices.

  • Mail disappears after read

I had restore my iPad and now when I get mail it disappears after it is displayed briefly in the list. It seems to be happening on my iPhone as well. This did not happen on the pad until the restore. It is an imap account and I have checked all of the settings.

If I have push on the message disappears. If I change it to fetch it doesn't.t happen. The downside it I will have to schedule it to poll at intervals or open the program to poll the servers. I can not imagine why anyone would want their messages to disappear after 30 seconds. It takes my brain a minute to read the message and think about it.

  • Ambient CPU Temperature readings don't change until reboot

    Hi everyone,
It's been a good while since I last posted on this forum and much has changed since...
I have recently bought a second hand "Early 2005" DP 2.7 Ghz G5 Powermac and everything has been working perfectly for the last couple of months - no traces of liquid coolant spills or odd fan behaviour so far (fingers crossed). I was just hoping to compare experiences with other users concerning the following behaviour though:
When I boot the machine from cold, both "iStat" or "Temperature Monitor" agree and correctly show the ambient temperature readings for both CPUs at actual room temperature as expected, which is usually 23ºC. This value doesn't get updated after hours of use until I reboot no matter into which OS. It will then show an updated value - usually ~40ºC which seems reasonably accurate.
I can replicate this in Tiger (10.4.11) and Leopard (10.5.8) using the same versions of both apps so it would seem as though the ambient temperature sensors only get read once at boot time rather than being polled at intervals like the the remaining sensors (HDD, CPU core, Backside and Drive Bay).
Has anyone else ever noticed this behaviour?
These are my usual temperature readings and fan speeds in "Reduced" processor performance, for future reference:
    Cheers!

    Hello The hatter,
    (WARNING: long post!)
As previously mentioned, when I set this machine up I decided to have all three Operating Systems on it, since some apps may be compatible with one but not the other, and with 2TB of available space I couldn't see a reason why not to, so I proceeded with a fresh install of Panther, Tiger and Leopard.
I use Leopard for web and email, and Panther for audio recording. Tiger remains largely unused. Ok, I confess to have played Call of Duty 2 once - for testing purposes, of course
As the described behaviour occurs for both CPU Ambient Sensors, I'm ruling out any hardware defects. It could be something at a lower hardware level, Open Firmware, or limited OS API support. (i.e - AppleAD741x .kext)
Quite possibly, fan/pump thermal management doesn't care about readings from CPU ambient sensors. They may be there merely for informational purposes. For example, there is also a 3rd room temperature ambient sensor placed at the front of the tower, right beneath the front speaker/fan assembly that I've not seen it listed in either "Temperature Monitor" or "iStat", hence my reasoning that it is possible that the OS is actually polling these sensors on wake and bootup, but there may be no way of polling them manually on runtime due to the aforementioned API limitations or else.
I could contact the developers of iStat and Temperature Monitor to find out what they may know about it, as they are probably best placed to answer queries like these apart from Apple themselves, of course. But I hesitate about bothering them, as I haven't made any contributions and they have already given so much to the community for free.
I really wish that someone could test this to confirm it is expected behaviour. i.e. CPU ambient sensors only get polled at system boot or wake from sleep.
I've run iostat -l using the terminal and something caught my eye.
I'm guessing this should be the main object definition for all CPU B's hardware sensors. There's an interesting "platform-do-reset-on-wake" parameter:

  • Polling Intervals

Does anybody know how to set the polling interval in the adapters (like DB, File, FTP, etc) to less than 1 sec and also to the extent of 0.001 sec (1 millisec) ??
    Please consider this as urgent.

    Stephen, thanx for your reply.
Actually, I have a integration prototype for which I have to show the throughput (100000 messages of 262 bytes each) of the hub (BPEL PM) at different polling intervals like "0.1", "0.01" and "0.001".
The customer wants to shutdown (crash) the hub and also the network in different scenarios to test messaging reliability aspects like message persistence, guaranteed delivery, once-and-only-once delivery.
The JMS implementation is over OJMS with JMS adapters as the senders and the DB Adapters and the FTP adapters as the receivers.

    Amit

  • How to change the default workspace polling behaviour

Here are the instructions on how to change the polling interval in workspace:
The workspace source project is usually under (C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES2\LiveCycle_ES_SDK\misc\Process_Management\Workspace)
The file that needs to be modified is SessionManager.as and is under  (C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES2\LiveCycle_ES_SDK\misc\Process_Management\Workspace\ws\Workspace\foundation\src\lc\fou ndation)
Set the value in a javascript file and then read this from the Workspace app.  You can see an example of this in the same createChannelSet() method wrt the “enableSmallMessages” variable. To do this:
1- Add the following lines to the workspace-config.js file right after the enableSmallMessages var definition (the js file is in the sdk under (C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES2\LiveCycle_ES_SDK\misc\Process_Management\Workspace\ws\Workspace\ui\html-template\js) – note that my example sets it to 10 seconds:
1- Then in the createChannelSet() method, define a new var with the same name and type=Number and default it to 3000 (to be consistent with the current behaviour):
                   var pollingInterval:Number = 3000;
2- Then, in the existing block where ExternalInterface.available is true, add the line to read the new value from the js file like this:
                  pollingInterval = ExternalInterface.call(“pollingInterval”);
3- Set pollingInterval on the channel with:
                 channel.pollingInterval = pollingInterval;
4- Add this function to the workspace-config.js file
// pollingInterval is the channelset polling interval in millisecs
          function pollingInterval()
                return 10000;
Compile this code and rebuild the workspace war, making sure the war contents contain the updated js file too, and then the polling interval will be read from the js file, making it much easier to change.
Here is the doc on how to customize workspace: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/customizeworkspaceui.pdf

Changing the Workspace Polling intervals just got a whole lot easier.  Go to http://blogs.adobe.com/ADEP/2011/08/workspace-polling-in-adep.html for more info.

  • Periodic "Glitch" at 1-Minute Intervals Using Firefox: Anyone Else?

    Greetings Everyone.
I have had this problem for quite some time, and after extensive trials at resolving it and attempting to get advice from many individuals, I've finally decided to post here, hoping someone can assist me in resolving it.
I get a "glitch" at regular 60-second intervals. This "glitch" manifests itself in many ways. For example, when using Firefox and I'm on my Google home page, I click on my "inbox" link and open my list of G-mail e-mails, after which time I can then check the boxes for each e-mail and then do a mass delete of the boxes checked. However, if I check any boxes (one or many), and wait for anywhere between 1 and 60 seconds, all of the check marks disappear (as if I hit "deselect all)! If I check mark them again, they disappear again within 60 seconds or less. This "glitch" appears to be occurring exactly at 60-second intervals. It also often causes web pages opened in Firefox to "jump scroll/page up" (usually in an upward direction) in the same manner (it's happened several times while typing this information here). It's as if someone hits a mouse key to inject a command every 60-seconds.
I have done numerous scans with Norton 360 anti-virus, Kaspersky anti-virus, iolo System Mechanic, and more...and the computer always comes up squeaky clean as far as viruses and spyware is concerned.
Yes, I've started Firefox in Safe Mode and it still happens. Yes, I've disabled Firefox add-ons in Safe Mode and it still happens.
I will note that this phenomenon even occurs on two other computers I have that are not connected in any way, one of which is new and has NO files copied from my primary computer and placed onto it. Yet, this happens even when I run Firefox on that netbook running Windows XP.
In some other programs such as MSWord, I often experience cursor jumps to another part of a page, a page jump up or down, etc. I am reasonably certain that this happens in other programs when Firefox is opened and running.
I have observed the running graphs under the "Performance" and "Networking" tabs in Windows Task Manager, and do spot a tiny spike that appears to be occurring every 60 seconds, but does not seem to occur if Firefox is not running.
Note: If I am on my Google home page using Firefox and I have nothing selected and the computer is idel, the entire page still "blinks" every 60 seconds, as if it is being refreshed. If I disconnect my LAN cable and thus kill my internet connection, my Google home page will, within 60 seconds, attempt to refresh itself and loose most all of its content. If I plug the cable back in and do nothing but wait, the Google home page content will reappear when the next "glitch" occurs.
This phenomenon does NOT happen with any other browser such as IE or Safari.
It's as if Firefox is constantly "polling" or "refreshing," but it also affects other programs that are opened when Firefox is running.
From all I can tell, this issue is caused by FIREFOX! I truly believe I've isolated it to Firefox, especially since it manifests itself when using Firefox on other computers I own.
Note that this does not appear to be doing any harm, but it can be a MAJOR pain when using MSWord or browsing the 'net with Firefox.
I have also tried disabling my computer's touchpad...still happens.
In short: there just must be ''something'' within the Firefox application that is inputting something at 60-second intervals.
It's been driving me nuts for over a year. I've searched the support areas and forum, but I have yet to find anyone describing a similar issue or suggesting a fix.
I would think that it would be easier to find the source of this phenomenon since it occurs at a regular interval, rather than randomly....but maybe not!
Can ANYONE provide me with any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Baffled Bobb

First of all, thanks again for your responses. BTW: I was unaware if I had marked the problem as solved. I don't recall doing so.
Are you running multiple AV or multiple Firewalls, are they causing the problem.
'''Well, that may e something to look at, but it is also happening on my other computer which definitely is not running multiple firewalls.'''
Are you able to identify the process.
if it is Firefox did you try Safe Mode with all plugins disabled ?
'''As mentioned above, I have run FFox in Safe Mode with plugins disabled on several occasions: no fix.'''
what happens if you try Firefox offline
'''As stated above, if I am off-line, FFox attempts to refresh itself and loses almost all content. If I reconnect the cable, the next "refreshing glitch" brings back all of the webpage content.'''
what happens if you open only a blank page in Firefox and nothing else (try about:blank )
'''Opening a blank page (BTW: tried it) is superfluous, because then there would really be no content upon which this problem would manifest itself.'''
Still searching for a solution! THANKS for the assistance thus far.

  • OSB polling process

    Hi
I have a requirement where i need to create an OSB process which connects to a DB,executes a sql query at regular intervals. In other words a polling process which executes every 5 min
Can some one suggest me how to go about it.
    Thanks in advance

  • Maximum Polling Interval in File Adapter

    Hi,
Can you please let me know what can we set as the maximum polling interval in the Sender File adapter?
I have a scenario where I am setting the File Adapter polling interval as 7884000 secs. i.e.2190 hr= approx 3 months.
But the file adapter is polling at very short intervals.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sampada

You need to configure the polling settings so that the system does not become overloaded, but at the same time, in a way that end users do not notice a major decrease in performance over time. Keep in mind that the greater the polling interval, the less frequently users will receive updates.

  • Advice for polling XML

    Hi,
I have an app that allows users to edit XML data. Ultimately
this app should be able to accomodate multiple simultaneous users.
Can anyone suggest a method I should employ that will keep
the XML data in my HTTPService's synced and updated in the UI in
realtime? I have considered a timed polling script on the flex
side, but changes could potentially conflict between the polling
    intervals.
My app uses PHP on the server and I am using Javascript
callbacks for other portions of the app.
    Thank you!

Looks like Flex Data Services is the way to go. For anyone
    having same need:

  • Poll: Mail settings changes by itself

Now I want to make a poll to know how frequent this bug is:
Mail is unexpectedly changing settings in the "Preferences"-"Accounts"-"Advanced" from "Password" to "APOP"
(When this happens Mail is immediately asking for "Password"and nothing works anymore)
This applys to POP-accounts where the ISP-provider tells you that the setting is supposed to be set to "password".
Please reply to this subject to confirm the frequency of this bug.
    Michael

I got this problem after istalling Leopard ( clean). Mail settings for password can´t be saved and changes itself to apop. And then mail asks for password when I open mail. This is a problem specific to pop accounts. Beccause it affects popusers all over the wolrd this is an apple issue BUG!!!!
I have tried all remedys suggested, changing intervals for mailchecking, new account, keychain, etc etc but nothing works. There are many more having this bud.
There are two other topics about this a.o mail not remembering pazzword.
I.M.H.O it could be worth to tell your ISP provider that you can´t use their APOP because Apple is refusing to react about this bug. So we don´t even know if there is a fix going on.

  • Oracle database Adapter polling in OSB Cluster

    Hi,
I have OSB 11g with two nodes. I have a database adapter that polls a table after every 30 seconds and perform logical delete on the rows read. I came across interesting situation. When one node is up and PollingInterval=30, it works okay and polling is done right after 30 seconds but when both nodes are up the PollingInterval property doesnt work as expected.
First node will poll after 24 seconds and then second node will again poll after 6 seconds (node1+node2=30 seconds in total).
and After i restart the servers the first node is polling at 18 sec and second node is polling at 12 sec (node1 +node2=30 sec), so different polling intervals.
How does it determines the first server should poll at 24 or 18 sec and second node should poll at 6 or 12 sec?
I would like to know is there any property or configuration required to poll the table for each node for every 15 seconds (node1(15sec)+node2(15sec)=30 sec)?
Please help me, It is very urgent?
    Thanks
    Rajesh.

    Hi,
If any one has the same issue, please let me know.
Also if you know the solution, can you please update here, it's very helpful for me.
    Thanks,

  • Database Polling

    Hi All,
I would like to poll certain databases with some standard query at say 2sec intervals or even real time. I would like to do the same for multiple databases and based on the query ultimately monitor metrics of certain qualifying records created, updated etc. Typically this would be intensive and could hamper performance of the application that is referencing the databases. I am sure many of you might have experienced this kind of scenario and I would appreciate if you could share the same.
I am of the understanding that the jdbc drivers are properly tuned and if we ensure that the queried columns tables are properly indexed, it would reduce any possible latencies. We do have Enterprise Manager's, Data Guard and we have considered copying them over to another database and derive metrics. We may ultimately go this route, but it does not solve the issue of real time monitoring. I would like to hear any alternative and unique approaches and appreciate your input.

    Hi
I'm responding to this with my BPM hat on (about the only hat I've got).
Tell us more about your use case if you get a minute. As much as it pains me to say this, but BPM might not be the best solution to what you're trying to do.
Just going on what you've posted here, polling a database at subsecond intervals or recognizing database changes realtime might be a better fit for another technology built specifically for this.
Others on this forum will probably have a better idea, but depending on what it is that you're trying to do you might want to look at CEP (Complex Event Processing) Server technology. This has the capability to collect feeds from hundreds of different sources (database feeds are supported) with zero latency (ok - very little latency).
Here's where BPM might come into play in this scenario. Once an event (e.g. some row on one of your tables changes) is caught, the CEP server could then push the information into an Oracle BPM process. A couple weeks ago, I used this technique to create a new work item instance in an Oracle BPM process and then used it to communicate with an existing work item instance (alerting the instance that the order items in the order had changed and how they changed) via the API into Oracle BPM.
Not trying to push CEP on you, but the second I saw "realtime" in your post it came to mind. Sure there are other options others will suggest.
