Polygon and Star Tool Draw Only from Center?

Adobe Illustrator 15.1.0 (CS 5.5) on Windows 7.
I was attempting to draw a polygon shape with an upper left origin point, when I noticed that the polygon and star tools only draw out from the center. Modifier keys have no effect. Rectangle and Ellipse tools work normally.
I don't remember this behaivor from previous versions.
Is this a bug?

I think the reason for the "off-beat" function of the star and polygon tools must be that the dimensions of regular stars or polygons do not coincide with the dimensions of a square bounding box. This works for circles and squares but not for stars or polygons. So for example drawing a polygon in the "normal" way from the corner of its bounding box and with Shift held down would not result in a regular polygon. Drawing from the centre means that the stars and polygons are always kept regular, so you have to make special efforts if you want to distort them.

Star tool is dragging from the inner radius

I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I'am using illustrator CC but while using the star tool, instead of being drawn while being dragged by the tip or the outer radius, my star is getting dragged from the inner radius. The problem does not occur when dragging while holding the alt key.

That's just the way they built the star tool. The polygon and flare tools work the same way: from center outward. It might have to do with a geometric efficiency where the shape can more easily be defined from the center (not sure about that).
On Mac, holding down option (Mac's alt) doesn't change this. Does alt really make a star draw from the outside inward on PC?
For rectangle and ellipse, option/alt allows shapes to be built from the center, but their default is outside-in.

Polygons and pen tool?

Hello! I end up spending lots of time making custom shapes in Illustrator and then importing them into my Edge composition as .svg files. And if I want to change a colour or size, I need to go back to Illustrator and re-do, save and import to Edge etc etc.... am I missing something? Does Edge have a polygon or pen tool somewhere that I can't seem to find so I can make custom shapes in Edge directly? That would speed up my work flow heaps!
Lovely Adobe Edge people - is a pen tool on the horizon? Or even just a triangle?

Please note that Animate doesn't use the canvas tag right now due to uneven support across browsers. Take a look at the support across browsers here:

As canvas picks up adoption, we'll be considering it for a future release of Animate, but for right now, we're based in JS and CSS-land!

My iphone 4 deletes texts as I send and receive them but only from 1 contact

Hi all,
I recently brought my first Iphone (4 8GB) 2 weeks ago and on monday I made a very stupid error and accidently reset my phone when syncing it to itunes (no idea how!!).
My issue is although I managed to sort it out my phone it has been deleting text and iphone messages from 1 contact who I text the most. I have no idea why or how it's doing this and although its a relatively small issue its increasingly annoying and I have not a clue how to correct it! I have tried renaming the contact (& have since backed up my phone) and done the usual turn it off and on again but none of this has worked.

The answer is no, but not because of anything to do with the webOS. This feature uses a brand-new Bluetooth profile called MAP (Messaging Access Profile) and many devices have not implemented support for it yet. I took a quick look on the Apple support pages and found this article that lists the supported Bluetooth profiles. As you can see, MAP is not listed which means syncing SMS messages will not work on your iPhone.

Using z and scaleZ to scale bitmap from Center

I was wondering how I could setup an Image so when it loads, and I change its Z value, it doesnt keep shifting in reference to the upper left. Right now, when I change the Z value of a Sprite containing the Image, it appears to move x, y (even though I know they are not changing). I thought that by putting it inside of a sprite, and then moving the image to so that its center was at 0,0 inside the sprite, that when I changed the z value of the sprite and not of the bitmap itself, it would fix my problem, but its not.

Still waiting on some ideas on this. I thought that I might be able to use a matrix to fix my problem, but it again did not work.

Illustrator CC Allowing Direct Tool and Selection Tool to Only Select Some Objects at Random

Whenever I try to select any object I've created, some will show that they can be selected while others are not available to be selected for no apparent reason except at random. This happens regardless if all my layers are unlocked.

I just attempted the UNLOCK ALL option, but I saw that it was unavailable. I'm almost certain that this might be a possible glitch. One of my pieces that was having a lock issue like all the others, has for whatever reason unlocked itself and every object is now selectable. I did nothing out of the ordinary routine for this change to happen.

Can you remove all flags, colors, and star ratings at once from a group of selected photos?

Yes, there is more than one way, but I recommend being in grid mode in library, with target photos selected, then what you do to one is done to all, for the most part... (another way is to "context-click" selected photos in the filmstrip...).

Rectangle and title tool only allow fixed ratio

Hi. Both the title and rectangle tool will ONLY draw in fixed ratio. I trashed the prefs. Didn't help. Is there some setting that locks it as fixed? I know in photoshop it's on the top bar, but I'm not seeing anything like that here in illustrator. Please advise how to turn this off. Thanks.

Hidden Bounding Box and Hidden Edges (they appear in the View dropdown list as Show instead of Hide) are regular troublemakers.
They may occur when Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+B and Ctrl/Cmd+H are pressed by mistake instead of other, slightly different, key combinations. Often, the right combination is pressed afterwards, and the effect goes unnoticed and is often only noticed later when the mispressing is forgotten.
The hidden Bounding Box may also be caused by preference corruption because it is a global setting.

I upgraded to Aperture 3.1.3 and the lift and stamp tool will only lift adjustments. Anyone else having this issue. Everything else seems to work fine.

This is the link to another recent thread reporting problems/changes with the Lift/Stamp shortcuts after the 3.1.3 upgrade.
The problem is that once the Lift tool is activated ("o") and an Image has been selected, the cursor does not change to down-arrow stamp tool, and clicking Images does not stamp them.
Try this in Split View and let us know if it works. For some (including me) this still works in Browser View.

When I watch Cable Television (not using the Apple TV), all 3 channels work fine so I know that the speaker connections are fine.

I had problems with streaming until I changed the WiFi channel that I was using. The original one conflicted with my neighbor. After that, MOST of my streaming problems vanished. Occasionally, a movie would pause for more buffering and I eventually ran an ethernet cable from the Apple TV to my Apple Extreme (to eliminate the Wifi). I have not had a single problem since then (except to repair the drywall after running the ethernet from one floor to another). :-)

I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.
