Polygon tool to make a star using up/down arrows

I am trying to make a star and make changes to it on the fly using the up/down arrows to change the number of poins and the indent. I will start to draw the star and while still holding the mouse try to use the up/down arrows to change the indent and or the number of points but nothing is changing. I know I am doing something wrong because it does the same thing on another MAC. I want to use the key mods to make the changes so I can see right away what I am doing. WHat is the correct way to 1. change the number of points (or sides) using the up/down arrows and 2. the correct way to change the indent of a star using the up/down arrows. Thank you very much..

Can't use scroll down arrow

When I open a PDF in Safari, the down arrow is covered by the window resizing area which basically means I can't scroll down. When I open up the same PDFs in Chrome, this doesn't happen. I've tried uninstalling Reader and re-installing and I still have the same issue. I've had this issue for several updates of Reader. I know the easy fix would be to just use Chrome but I'd like to figure out why it is doing this. Any ideas?

Maybe remove the reader plugin (/Library/Internet Plug-ins) and let Safari do the PDF on its own?

Multiple problems: can't open two windows, browser doesn't close although window disappears, and after working for a while I loose my ability to cut and paste or use drop down arrows

Maybe two weeks ago I discovered that I could no longer open two windows at a time (I can still open multiple tabs). I am also having problems with cutting and pasting, which is crucial to my on-line job. Plus, when I exit Firefox, it doesn't always shut down, so then when you go to re-open, of course, it won't (unless you go into process and turn it off). I have re-installed multiple times and I have also used restore. Nothing seems to be fixing this and I really, really don't want to use IE, especially for work.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Maybe also do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />

Is it possiable to navigate row by row using the down arrow key?

The table is an ADF page table, and I want to nevigate to the next row by pressing the down arrow key. Is that possiable?

Let me explain things better. First of all you have to create
a javascript file , e.g: moveRow.js with the following code:

Photoshop CS3, using pen tool to make selection or path without any color

OK, here is my problem. I'm using CS3 photoshop right now. Last time I was using it regularly was in 2001, so it was version 5 or 6. At that time you could use the pen tool to make a selection or a path without ANY color. I'm trying to cut out something that needs precision (therefore the pen tool) but I need to be able to see what I'm doing. Therefore, would prefer no color option. This used to be easy, with paths, it was the default.
Can't figure it out now, HELP is no help. And, the User Guide is no longer available on Adobe.com. Looked for the one for the CS4 suite, not much much luck there either. I can call them tomorrow about that. *Right now, all I'm trying to do is put together a little pasted together thing for my niece. Two stuffed animals with antlers and santa hats on a Xmas background. Everything is done but cutting out around the stuffed animals. They need their little tufts of stuffing, so I need a tool that can create a smooth path without blocking what I'm doing with color.* Any help will me appreciated. I've tried for days to figure this out on my own, since last time I posted, I figured it out before someone responded. And, the response was quick, so I didn't want to waste anyone's time.
The pdf user guide for this is unavailable, I just ordered a book to help me with the stuff I can't figure out by myself. Thanks for everyone's quick help. –Suze

I too use CS3 and I may be confused about your post. If so, I apologize for wasting any reader's time.
When I need a precision tool for rotoscoping a subject, I usually choose the Polygonal Lasso tool. Of all the Lasso tools, using the polygonal is the most labor intensive, but gives you the highest degree of control. With a little practice you can get quite good at it. If necessary, blow up the image to help you see what you are doing.
-- Duplicate the background layer
-- Rotoscope the subject
-- Click Refine Edge and adjust Radius, Contrast, Contract/Expand, Smooth and Feather to taste
-- Choose New>Layer via Copy or Cut
-- Hide background layer(s) and Save As or Move this layer onto your original graphic.
There may be other ways of doing it but this is what works for me. I hope that helps.

I select the polygon tool go round the persons outline, but
at the last bit when im going to join the start and finish point up
it suddenlymakes a smaller version with smooth edges of the shape i
have made originally ? I tested it again and if i draw a rougth
circle it , at the end it changes to a perfect circle ? Im used to

Sounds like you might be using a feather edge. Check the edge
setting to make sure its smooth or hard (as Joey suggested).
Also, for complicated selections, you might want to try using
the pen or redraw path tools. Its easier to edit your "selection"
or modify it after its drawn for better accuracy (you can also
toggle between marquees and paths using Select > Convert Marquee
and Modify... > Convert Path...).

Using polygon tool but cannot add/subtract sides using arrows

I have been using cs4 design premium for three months. No problems with it. I recently bought the master collection cs4 this past week and installed it. I did uninstall design premium cs4 first though; I just thought I should. Well, now, I can use the programs but Illustrator will not allow me to use the polygon tool as it should. Is there a way to trouble shoot this issue? I cannot use the up arrows and down arrows to add or subtract sides. I have re-installed the entire suite twice and no success with the same issue. I need some direction...or another version of the master collection via adobe that will work correctly. I spent too much money to not be able to make a freaking triangle.

Note that the "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.<br />

Line and polygon tool angles locked. not able to place point where needed...

I am not able to place the cursor in the desired position when using the line and polygon tool to outline... I read something about holding down the shift key to achieve this effect however I am not holding down the shift key and this effect is not desired.

Some how the 'snap to grid' got turned on in the view toolbar. Turned it off and it fixed the problem.

When drawing with polygon tool, a solid black rectangle appears??

When I use the polygon tool to draw, a mysterious black rectangle appears underneath, and grows with my cursor movement, obscurring whatever is underneath. The black shape has nothing to do with the shape I'm creating. I am tracing boundary locations on a map, for example, and the black shape blocks out the lines I'm trying to trace, if my opacity is set at 100%. It mimics the opacity I'm using to draw. I never saw this in AA7. Why would anyone want this function, and is there a way to turn it off?

Thanks for your reply. I am exporting edited versions - export seems to work OK when exporting originals. But all my images are edited a bit, even if just simple cropping etc.
I tried adjusting the color sync profile as you suggested but this didn't help. I also adjusted the gamma and watermark and again, no change.
It seems like I have some kind of bug or something within Aperture, because it is doing all kind of strange things, like now eny time I edit a photo at all it appears solid black in my "browse" view (but OK when I double click it). Similarly, when I duplicate a photo it does random funky stuff to the photo in browse view (from being solid black, to solid red, to appeairng to have some random color filter, to appearing like static from static TV). These issues are all secondary though from the main issue of not being able to export images, since I have a friends wedding photos I am trying to get out to them!
Any other ideas of what might be causing this?
