"Poodlefaking" VISTA so  Abap trial SP12 can work

Any Windows Gurus out there who know how to "fool" the abap tral netweaver that it's going to be installed on XP when it's actually being installed on Vista.
These days it's almost impossible to get a new computer (individual retail level - not corporate / work computers)  WITHOUT some version of VISTA being pre-installed.
Running under vnware is only a partial solution and while it works it's not the ideal method of running these trials --especially on things like laptops which ususally only have 1GB RAM in them anyway.
I'm not an internal SAP developer so I can't understand why this version won't install on VISTA. There probably IS a good reason but it still seems a surprise to me as the trials are usually used by individuals on their own computers rather than large corporate customers - and individuals have been rather unwillingly forced to adopt VISTA much earlier than they would otherwise have done so.
I've got  a Student copy of Windows Server 2003 which I'll probably install on the laptop (I'm pretty fed up with VISTA --but that's for another Forum)  but there are I'm sure a lot out there who don't have that luxury of W2003 Server (actually quite a good OS and can be customized to run as a workstation) there's notes all over the web on how to do it.
So SAP  guys --any idea on when VISTA support will be forthcoming for the trial previews.
Cheers
Jimbo

Hello,
I have  installed  ABAP trial on vista as Norman Schröder explained :
If someone is looking for a way to install the ABAP edition under Vista, I think this should be the shortest way.
I've tested it with the 32-Bit version (Ultimate and Business).
Steps
1. i've used the latest 1.4.2.x version of Java
2. go to the extracted archive
3. under the folder image rename NTPATCH to something else - e.g. NTPATCHold
4. copy the files of the renamed folder in your windowssystem32 directory
5. one file can't be overwritten, but that's ok
6. reboot your machine
7. go to the image directory of your extracted archive again
8. right-click on the setup-executable
9. choose execute as administrator
10. follow the instructions of the wizard
Finished
Once you have logged in, you will get an error message that the operating system isn't supported yet (or TAC sick). You can ignore that. Anyway the system should be working fine.
Perhaps someone else knows how to deactivate this check?
Regards,
Norman
it is working fine
Christophe

  • Install NW7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 on Windows. how use/unpack these two files

    Hello,
I tried to install the NW7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 on Windows XP. The download work properly I hope.
I extracted the part1-file to separate folder.
I have no idea how the second file can be extracted (part2).
So I started the setup and it worked well, but the programm to get the hardware key isn't on in the file system "saplicense.exe".
now my question is how do I have to use these two download files (extract, join together, how?) to get a complete installation source?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanx in advance
    Hans

    Hi Hans,
When you extract the part1 the others are extracted too.
I use the program Winrar and works fine.
What program are you using to extract?

  • NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 - installation problems

    Hi
I have been struggeling a lot with the installation of NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12. I have installed and uninstalled serveral times with no luck - I have used the SAP clean up tool, RegCleaner and deleted SAP entries my self in regedit.
The installation only takes a few minutes now before the installation is complete and it asks me if I would like to start the app server and the SAP management console - when I then choose continue it fails.
Im pretty surprised that the maxdb is not installed - even though that I have uninstalled it before the reinstallation attempts.
I would like to start over from scratz - is it possible somehow (so that the maxdb is installaded again and so on) or is there something else that I should try?
I have tried to do the setup mentioned in the troubleshooting guide (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/6055f523-df6e-2910-f0bf-acccbb0a7d37) and searched this forum, but I cannot make it work.
    Kind regards,
    Torben

    Hi Klaus
    Thanks for your reply.
I should not be nessesary with the loopback adapter in my case - my pc is connected to a network and I can access localhost. However, I have tried with and without loopback adapter.
What I did (for each time I tried to install:
    Deleted installshield folder
    Uninstalled maxDB
    Stoped SAPNSP_00 service
    Deleted SAP and SAPDB folder
Ran the SAP reg clean tool
Then I made i reboot, and installed NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 once again.
In my last case I installed the loopback adapter, rebooted once again and then installed the SP12 trial. When I installated the loopback adapter I assigned ip adresse 10.10.0.10 (and subnet mask 255.255.255.0) to it and added a line (10.10.0.10 NSP) to the hosts file.
But I still get error when installation has finished:

  • SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version not working

    Hello,
I am trying to load SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on VISTA.  I am having two problems.
    1.  When I try to start NSP using SAP Management Console, I am prompted with a pop-up window labeled "WebService Authentication."  The first parameter for User is automatically filled with value Home-PC\RESkater.  It also asks me to enter Password.  I do not know what to enter for password.
    2.  After I installed the SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version, the download instructions says that I can sign on to system via web gui using  http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000.  However, I receive the error message stating "local host is not set up to establish a connection on port 8000 with this computer."
Can anybody give me any helpful tips that might resolve these issues for me?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rae,
Regarding issue 1, you to startup NSP, you need to remove the Home-PC\ portion of the username.  So your username should only be RESkater.  Then the password should be the same as the password that you use to logon onto the operating system for user RESkater.
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,
    Miguel

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial - service Disp+Work.Exe does not start

    Hi All,
I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version on Windows Xp sp2.
But when I start sap management console, Disp+Work.Exe shows stopped and i am not able to connect through SAP login.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Mindaugas

The hostname should have 13 caracters at maximum, you will need to remove your installation (use the process below), change the hostname and install it again. It happened with me and after done this process it worked fine.
    How to uninstall :
    - Drop database: In order to do that go to the Control Panel click on 'Add and Remove Programs' and look for 'MaxDB'. Click on 'Change/Remove' which starts the Installation Manager of the MaxDB. Click on 'Remove MaxDB Components', select 'All Components' and enter the database manager user 'control' and your <password>. Quitt the dialog popup with 'yes'.
    - Stop SAPNSP_00 service Go to the Control Panel, click on 'Administrative Tools' and stop the SAPNSP_00 service.
    - Remove in your file system the directories of 'SAP' and 'sapdb'. Go to 'Program Files/Common Files' and remove the directory 'Installshield'.
    - Run the [clean up |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/softwaredownload?download=/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/business_packages/a1-8-4/nw/regcleantools.rar] tool for the registry, press the radio button for 'Uninstall Service', enter 'NSP' for SID and '00' for the number.
    - Connect your PC to the network or install the loopback adapter.
    - Reboot your PC.

  • ABAP Trial Version SP12:Error while setting up transport environment

    Hi Folks,
I have successfully installed ABAP trial SP12 on my notebook(XP) and have been able to create some objects.
Thanks to very effective blogs by Manfred Lutz .
Now, I'm trying to set up the transport environment as per the blog but face the following error when I execute the step 'Distribute and Activate TMS Configuration'
Appreciate any help in solving the issue. I'm detailing below the error and the checks I had done.
    ******ERROR*************************************************************
    ERROR:
Could not start transport control program tp

    Message no. TP608 Diagnosis
There was an attempt to start the transport control program tp using the local RFC interface. An error occurred here.
      Error code: 4
RFC error text: timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
I did the following based on the long text and after searching the forum:
    *(1)*
Run program RSTPTEST to localize error.
The program gave the following result for the RFC destination 'CALLTP_WindowsNT':
    ********RESULT OF RSTPTEST***********************************************
"timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'#Timeout during connection setup (check that partner exists)"
    *(2)*
Run the connection test in SM59 for destination 'CALLTP_WindowsNT':
The results were inconsistent. The connection test failed often but it was ok a few times.
The details of the connection failure are as follows:
    *******CONNECTION FAILURE RESULTS******************************************************
              Cancel

*(3) I then went to STMS and regenerated the RFC destinations and then ran the connection test. The result was OK.
Now, I again execute the 'Distribute and Activate TMS Configuration'  step . It still gives the same error.
When I run the connection test in SM59, it results in error.
    Further checks:***********************
    (a) The permissions for folder SAP in the local directory were done as instructed in the blog.
    (b) the directory path  /SAP/trans/bin had the following files:
*TP_DOMAIN_NSP.PFL*  : the last modified date changes every time I execute 'Distribute and Activate TMS Configuration'.
*DOMAIN*  :The last modified date is in the past. It does not change.
Please inform how do I set up transport.

    Hi Krishna ,
    Thank you for the suggestion.
I did as you suggested by inserting the mapping of ip and host in the hosts file.
and restarted the server, but I still get the same error "could not start transport control program tp".
Any other step that I'm missing.
    Thanks again

  • Java Trial AND ABAP Trial

I succesfully installed the Netweaver 2004s ABAP Trial.
Now I want to also dig deeper into SAP Java, especially Web Dynpro Development.
What am I supposed to do? Can I download and install the Java Trial in parallel with the ABAP Trial? Can I run them both at the same time for example to access ABAP function modules from Java via RFC?
And what's that SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition for? The Java Trial already comes with an app server...
Sorry for being stupid, I'm a SAP ABAP business programmer for many years now and am confused with all that system administrative wording...

    Hi all
I have no success install ABAP and JAVA testdrive on same server. What versions have you installed?
I have installed the abap testdrive 04s SP11. All seems to be ok.
Now i try to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version SP9 on same server, but I get some warnings and errors:

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version - You can only work in client 001

    Hi BI Experts,
I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version and I could successfully login into the system.
When I run RSA1 Tcode I am getting error message You can only work in client 001. Can some please advice.
    I appreciate all your input.
    Regards,
    OSR.

    Hi,
Since BI tables are cross-client, BI can work only in one client. By default BI is configured for client 001.
If you want it in different client, you change it in BWMANDT field of RSADMINA table.
    hope it helps.
