Poor Audio Quality in my new HP 15 R203TX

Hi I have just purchased HP pavillion 15 R2037TX laptop. It comes with 5th gen 5200U processor with 4gb ram, 2gb nvidia 820M graphics 1tb of hdd with DOS with realtek hd sound technology.  I installed win 8.1 and accordingly installed all the drivers from the official hp website. After installing audio driver I found that DTS audio control panel was installed. My laptop is working fine except one thing  I am not getting proper sound quality which i used to enjoy in my previous e038tx laptop that  too came with DTS audio. The sound is not sweet or crisp rather very hazy when playing through external subwoofer and speaker. I enjoyed clear and crisp audio quality in the same speaker and sub woofer  previously. Plus I can not understand why after realtek hd audio I get dts audio control panel. Because the audio vendor says its hardware is Realtek HD audio. Realtek has its own audio control panel which I do not find here. Whatever kindly help me how can i enjoy beautiful sound >? thanx in advance

Hello friend   @lbrou87 I'm not hear to debate about the issue unless you are a Hp Support people (Which I think you are not).  And  I have explained everything  in my previous replies  then why are you asking absurd questions. This was my 2nd laptop after 7 years and I'm using 1st time a HP laptop. I could have gone with my previous brand laptop of DELL . I chossed Hp to try a new brand. I could have gone with purchasing DELL. If I pay a premium price for this hp model then why I'm getting a great featured laptop which gives me a low audio output. What you said in your reply  HP don't want to update the technology in the drivers which make Hp customers to buy external speakers. Then what more I can say!!!...  I'm really unsatisfied. The Hp support if they can't say anything then who should I go and ask. (sorry  friend  @lbrou87  if I'm being rude to you in this reply)
I was just trying to help.  I've been through this with HP Support before with a similar issue.  I though the premise of a forum was not only for HP's representatives to help, but other forum members as well.  But, since you want to be rude and obnoxious to someone that only wants to help, I'm done with this thread.  Wait for HP's representatives for help.  Good day sir.

  • Poor audio quality on calls (New York City)

The audio quality for my calls has always been poor. Recently I heard that that is typical for iPhones in New York City. Is that right?
In my experience the most advanced phone in the world sure does sound like a tin-can telephone.

you might have more luck in the at&t forums
    http://forums.wireless.att.com/
i have read press reports about generally dismal 3g quality in NY on the at&t network... i don't think it is limited to iphones, but all 3g phones. since you posted this in original iphone section i am guessing you are on the original iphone which uses the 2g network... i remember reading at&t was reassigning some frequencies that was causing some with 2g phones to experience some issues, i will post the link if i can find it!

  • Lync 2013 and Audiocodes ESBC Mediant 1000 - poor audio quality

Bit of an odd issue that I've been looking into for the past few weeks - our part of our change from a pilot Lync install to production we have had an Audiocodes ESBC Mediant 1000 installed to serve as a Media Gateway between the Lync Mediation Server and
our Gamma Telecom provided SIP trunk.
However under certain situations my users are reporting exceptionally poor audio quality with the Lync server reporting website reporting a very high packet loss and our ESBC reporting a high 'Average voice delay' (often greater than 80ms).
I have established that by taking these steps the issue can be replicated with almost impunity-
Make incoming call from mobile phone (or landline) - pickup call on Lync Deskphone (CX300/CX500/CX600 and VVX410 all have the same).
Begin a consultative call transfer with an external (another mobile/landline) or internal number which places the incoming call on hold.
Complete the call transfer - at this point the audio quality is still as expected.
Begin a new call from a Lync phone to an external number - at this point the audio quality for the phone call that has been transferred and the new call instantly degrades.
    My basic topology is-
    Fibre Leased Line - Cat5e cable - Router - Cat5e cable - DMZ Switch - Cat5e cable - Audiocodes Mediant 1000 - Cat5e cable - Servers VLAN - Switch - Fibre - Core switch (layer 3) - Fibre - VMWare Host (ESXI v5) - Lync Server (VMNET 3 adapter)
I have been able to replicate the issue when using both TCP and TLS between the Lync Mediation Server and the Audiocodes gateway.
Over the next day or so I will be looking to get the SIP trunk connected directly to the Lync server to see if that makes any difference (ruling out the Mediant 1000 as a possible cause) but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas as to what could be
    causing this most weird situation?

    Hi,
Please disassociate the Edge Server from the Mediation and check the delay again.
Please check port 3478 to the internal interface of the Edge Server from all internal clients (including the Mediation Server).

  • Poor Audio Quality From Exchange 2010 UM

    Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue with our Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging system in that the audio quality is suddenly rather poor.  We are using Cisco Callmanager 7 for our phone system.  When you call an automated attendant, hit the "messages"
button or call the extension to go to voicemail, the audio you hear "crackles," or sounds like it is skipping slightly in that there are brief but noticable interruptions in the audio.
The audio quality issue only occurs when you are connected to voicemail or automated attendants, but not when conversing to other people on phone calls, so that leads me to believe either some interoperability between CM and Exchange UM is malfunctioning, or
just something in UM is a problem.  Also, if you listen to voice messages through the computer instead of over the phone, the quality is fine.  The problem seems to be mainly with calling in to the UM system.
What can I do to properly troubleshoot this?  I have found the Exchange 2010 UM Troubleshooting Assistant, but I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can install Service Pack 1 due to downtime window restrictions.  I'm not coming up with a lot of
documentation involving this, so if anyone has any information they think might help me get to the bottom of this I would apprecaite it.
    Thank you.

Cisco Callmanger and UM are on the same LAN.
I highly doubt that QoS is the culprit here, simply because there aren't any issues with phone calls.  If QoS was dropping VOIP packets, then IP phone to IP phone calls would also have poor audio quality.  If I call somebody on another IP
phone on the LAN, the audio quality is perfect.  It is only when you are connected to the UM system that you hear the poor audio quality -- either listening to voicemail prompts, listening to actual voicemails, listening to the automated attendant --
anything in which UM is on one end of the phone call.
It also seems strange that this is somewhat intermittent.  When the issue first occurred, it was definitely happening every time you called in to the UM system and I could repeat the issue by simply pushing my messages button and listening to the welcome
and prompt for a PIN.  I restarted the Exchange server at night, and the next day it was intermittent with people calling the help desk to say they were getting poor audio quality from UM but when I tried to repeat the issue I could not.
I also have users complaining of intermittent slowness when using Outlook, which may be totally unrelated.  I have been running Perf logs on the Exchange server for the last couple of weeks othe CPU, Network Connections, Exchange RPC totals, etc.
and can't find anything that is using too many resources.

  • Captivate 8, NeoSpeech Spanish poor audio quality

    Hello everyone,
I was demoing some of NeoSpeech's non-English voices when I had Captivate 7 and they were operating fine. Recently I licensed a Spanish language voice AND upgraded to Captivate 8. Now the audio quality for the Spanish voice is very bad. There's a lot of noise and it sounds like the treble is being over-driven. This does NOT occur with the standard 5 NeoSpeech voices already included in the language pack.
I reverted my licensed version back to a demo version and the quality is still poor. Audio using the same voice through Microsoft's SAPI sounds clear and fine. It is only when running through Captivate 8 that the audio degrades.
Does anyone have an idea why this worked fine in Cp7 and fails in Cp8, yet other NeoSpeech voices are fine?

I had exactly the same problem on my new, beefed-up laptop and couldn't figure out how an "upgrade" could ruin my music (which I take pretty seriously). I am embarrassed to say what actually fixed the problem. I started by turning off the EQ and it improved somewhat. I kept searching the web without luck until I noticed something by accident. My system volume was low and the iTunes volume was peaked at max. I turned the iTunes volume to 40% and turned up the computer volume to compensate and voila! The bass distortion and indistinct vocal range was immediately fixed. I turned the EQ back on and was able to use it however I liked. I guess it is like turning up the volume on a radio to max. You get sound, but it gets distorted in the upper range. Hope that helps!

  • Poor audio  quality with iTunes 9

    Hi.
This is my first posting and I am hoping members of the iTunes development team look in here.
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and I noticed a marked improvement in sound quality using iTunes 8 . Please note I am playing AIFF files through the digi out of my Macbook into a high quality Dac, amp and speaker separates system, in fact the sound was as good as any cd transport I have ever used. I then "upgraded" to iTunes 9 and noticed a deterioration in audio quality, the bass has become woolly and indistinct and small details in songs are harder to hear resulting in a un-involving sound.
I know I am not imagining this as I have done repeated tests using the same file played back via iTunes9, Songbird and Cog and iTunes is clearly the inferior of the three and the poor quality of 9 is being discussed on many hifi forums.
So come on iTunes team either sort out the audio output of 9 or give us audiophiles an easy way to get rid of 9 and go back to 8 without losing our libraries.
ps. love all the bells and whistles but sound quality is paramount.
    Cheers
    Andy.

  • Poor audio quality in iChat

When I use iSight in Skype it delivers a way better audio quality in comparison with iChat Audio/Video chat. It's not that crisp, more like a poor telephone call. I wonder if I can change it or is it just an iChat nature?
My connection speed is 1 MB.
Straming in Quicktime changed to 1.5 MB
My Output/Input settings in Sound tab seems OK.
    I don't use firewall.

    Hi Sleeze,
I do not have Skype so I can not judge. Most of the posts I have read seem to suggest iChat Audio is better.
However Skype could have updated their app.
As long as iChat Bandwidth and Quicktime streaming setting in System Preferences are not capping your connection I can not see any other changes you can make. (unless you are "too far" from the camera). If the last is the case it may pay to adjust the volume in System Preferences > Sound >Input tab as this is the master for iChat. I am not sure if it is the same for Skype.

  • Poor audio quality when importing CDs (but only some of them)

I am experiencing a bizarre audio quality problem:
When playing or importing tracks from CDs into iTunes 9.0.2, on some CDs there is very poor quality and an audible crackling (like an old scratched lp)whereas on others the quality is perfect. This translates to the iPod as well.
I've looked all over the internet and am now thoroughly confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are hearing it both on iTunes playback and on the iPod, it is probably an importing problem, i.e. the track is bad.
When you import, do your Import Settings use Error Correction? If not, turn it on and re-rip one of the problem tracks.

  • Poor Audio Quality in Cap4

Hi all, I'm enjoying the new functions in Captivate 4
although I'm having a problem with the audio quality. I'm importing
mp3s from Soundbooth. Things sound great, (on a level with C3.),
when I preview the audio within the slide but when published or
previewed in a browser it sounds like a bad VOIP connection; sort
of electronic and raspy. Is anyone else experiencing this.
One theory I have is when I edit the audio for the project I
get a message that the closed captioning will be removed from the
presentation. The problem appears to be worse when I do this. Is it
possible that removing the closed captioning degrades the audio?
I'd love know know if anyone has thoughts on this.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,
I have encountered this using audio imported from both
SoundBooth and as well as Sony SoundForge. If you can spare the
time, I would recommend that you report this to the Adobe Captivate
team using the web address I have included below.

  • ITunes 10 poor audio quality

After upgrading to iTunes 10, I noticed when playing music from my library that the audio quality is significantly lower than previously with iTunes 9.x. The audio quality sounds muffled and distorted.
I found this thread in the Windows section, but wondered if other Mac users were experiencing the problem as well.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2571907&start=0&tstart=0
I ended up downgrading back to iTunes 9.x and the problem was resolved. Any ideas? I'm going to end up needing to use iTunes 10 for my new Nano I think ...

Just found the solution! At least for my case. I also had muffled sound and restricted frequency range as it seemed to my ears. And yes, it was the frequency range indeed...
I usually listen through my Sound Sticks but this could also be the solution for other audio interfaces.
Open Apples AudioMidi-Application and check frequency and bit rate for your interfaces' output!
In my case the frequency range was set to 8000kHz for the sound sticks, put it back to 44.1kHz and Tatatataaaa: crisp sound again! (you may have to restart iTunes to have it respect this setting).
I don't know what caused this setting, never messed around in AudioMidi. Something probably went wrong during the installation of iTunes10.
But now have back again the sound quality of iTunes 9.x
Hope this helps you all, it saved me from having to downgrade my iTunes installation.

  • Poor audio quality - PLEASE HELP!

So i recently purchased the Satellite C55T-A5306 and the sounds quality from the laptop itself is really low quality. So to try and enhance the sound, i bought Logitech Z130 Stereo Speakers and it STILL sounds dry and muddy. I plugged the speakers into my iPod and the sound was drastically improved, but when they're in my laptop it sounds flat. I don't know how to make the audio sound better through my speakers. Please help!
I was thinking that if i bought an HDTV and used that as an external monitor and got speakers for my TV, it would sound better and add texture, but i'm unsure if the audio quality would still be dry from the laptop.

Check and see if it you need to update your audio drivers and check their settings. You can check this out via the device manager in control panel. I'm not familiar with this specific model but with mine if you plug in a headphone jack it will bring up the dolby/reltek audio manager. See what kind of quality it's on and whether or not you can put it on stereo, then check your EQ's, bass, that kind of thing. Try having a CD or something going while you do it so you can hear the differences and set it to your liking. If it doesn't come up with the manager try typing in either audio or sound into your start menu's search bar and see what it gives you.
    Best of luck!

  • Poor audio quality on new mac mini

I getting lots of audio interference when headphones are plugged into mini headphone jack.   Interference varies with where I'm standing in my room.
    Mac mimi is new.

Are you using wireless headphones? Or is it a cabled one? Are you hearing the noises when listening to the internal speaker?

  • Mac Mini: poor audio quality

I have my Mac Mini connected to my plasma (yes, doing the HTPC thing). I'm finding the audio output is really poor, regularly scratchy and lacks loudness in the volume.
I have tested the Mini versus my Macbook, using the same source file (a DIVX movie), Plex as the player, connected to my TV. The Macbook is fine, the Mini has the issues mentioned above.
I have tried iTunes, eyeTV and DVD Player on the Mini - all have the same issues. Seeing the same setup works fine with my Macbook, I take it the audio cable and audio amplifier in the TV are all fine.
So this leaves the issue with the Mac Mini
Any thoughts on what the issue could be and how to go about fixing it would be much appreciated.

Yes, using the combo optical/headphone out, connected to my TV via RCA inputs.
Reducing to 3 makes its so quiet that I have to blast the volume on my TV in order to hear anything.
I don't have a high-end set of headphones, but the headphone quality is good unless I have the volume up loud, then it distorts. Some people have hinted that the Mac Mini has a headphone output only where as the other Macs have a line out. If this is the case than the Mac Mini audio will only be good via headphones or an amp with optical input.
So inputting via an analog amp is either out of the question OR my Mini has a hardware fault!

  • Poor Audio Quality from ALC1150 on X99 System

I have been chasing some issues with my new Asus X99-A regarding the integrated sound.
When I initially installed Arch, I couldn't get my headphones to work on line out (green), but they did work on rear (black) and csub (orange). I searched around and attempted messing around with alsa settings to no avail.
But suddenly, sound started to work.
Today I was trying to compare sound quality in Arch and Windows and the sound suddenly stopped working in Arch again. This time I figured out why, but I have no clue as to the underlying mechanism.
Basically, if I reboot from Windows into Arch, sound will not work. The sound will continue not to work until I either do a full poweroff from Arch, or a full shut down from Windows. Once the computer has been completely powered off, sound will work in Arch on the next boot.
If I reboot into Windows from Arch or Windows, sound will work. It's only when I reboot from Windows into Arch that sound stop working.
When the sound doesn't work, there are no errors during boot or in dmesg or journalctl, and it appears as though everything is working: alsamixer behaves as expected, and speaker-test and mplayer run happily. Just no sound actually comes out, including none of the interference descibed below.
When sound does work, there are three issues with it that I was trying to figure out when I ran into the reboot issue:
    1. There is a lowlevel hiss at all times that starts just after the storage volumes are mounted during boot. This hiss can be heard on the headphones when the audio connector is touched to the mobo backplate and even the case screws.
    2. There is a varying squeal at all times that starts at the same time as the hiss. It cannot be heard unless the headphone connector is inserted most or all of the way into the line out port, i.e. it has something to do with stereo.
    3. There are loud pops that occur due to screen updates (i.e. scrolling or moving the cursor around on web pages). The volume of these pops is proportional to the volume of audio being played through the headphones, i.e. they are inaudible when nothing is playing and loudest when music is loudest.
This hiss, squeal, and pops are not present in Windows to any noticeable level.
I run an AMD R9 290X with no integrated graphics. I'm currently running fglrx, but at least the hiss and squeal were present when I was running radeonsi.

Does anyone have any clue how this is happening?

Testing the outputs included above when the sound does not work shows no difference whatsoever.
Just in case it is useful, I'll put dmesg output here. I'm pretty sure there is no meaningful difference between the two but I don't know what I might be looking for.
    With sound working:
