Poor Bluetooth reconnection capabilities

When I start the Ovi Suite, it connects just fine to my phone (Nokia 7510) via Bluetooth.  However, if I leave the room to take a call or move the phone out of range for any other reason, I cannot reconnect my phone until I close and restart the program.  It looks as if the program is trying to reconnect, but it never does.  If I try to sync something, the program tells me to connect my phone with USB or Bluetooth, but I can't even find a manual reconnect command to issue to the program.

Hi palswim,
Could you be more specific about your issue.
-Which operating system do u use and which firmware version do you have in your mobile? (  *#0000# will reveal the details)
-Which version of OVI suite you use?
-Go to OVI suite -> help -> About nokia OVI suite -> System information. Paste the information...

No. The iPhone does not support the MAP (Message Access Protocol) bluetooth profile.

  • Bluetooth reconnection

I have a T420 with bluetooth and it pairs to my phone without any trouble.  All the features work as expected so no complaints there.
My only problem is that if I move my phone out of range, the BT link disconnects and does not reconnect automatically when I bring the phone back into proximity.  My previous computer (a Toshiba) would automatically reconnect my BT devices once paired.
Naturally I can foce a reconect manually by opening up the device icon and pressing the "Connect" button but this is getting tedious.   Is there a setting I can use that will do this automatically whenever I am back in range?  I have the "Allow devices to find this computer" "Allow BT devices to connect" and "Alert me when a new BT wants to connect" boxes all checked on.

  • Poor Bluetooth performance with all aluminum Mac Pro

The all aluminum case for pre-mavericks Mac Pro is the primary reason for poor antenna performance of Bluetooth. Aluminum, being a good conductor, acts as a reflector of EMF forming what is known as a Faraday Cage, essentially trapping emissions within the box. Normally, holes drilled in the case would allow enough EMF to pass through the case but the hole size for transmission is directly proportional to the lowest frequency that will pass through easily. An example is the typical microwave oven where the window is actually a conducting sheet with small enough hole such that higher freq light waves pass easily through the sheet but lower frequency microwaves do not. Perhaps if the drive bay covers were made of plastic, transmission of the Bluetooth and wifi would be sufficient. One might carefully nibble a slot or two in the side door but this would surely invalidate any warranty and care would have to be taken not to get aluminum particles inside the computer. This would probably nullify any FCC approval of the machine due to clocking noise interference with other devices. The best approach would probably be a tuned waveguide that passes frequencies only around 2.4 GHz ~ 5 GHz through the case (very similar to the way tuned ports on audio speakers pass a band of frequencies needed to extend bass response). I'm sure Apple will have corrected this design flaw in the new Mac Pro introduced this year. If you have lots of time on your hands you can get a college level text on electromagnetics (Maxwell's Equations, etc.) and derive all the details but with a bit of experimenting and reading about tin can antenna mods to wireless routers you should be able to improve Bluetooth performance significantly.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will have to move my wireless home base station.  It is on the same desk as my mini so much less than 5 feet away.

  • MacPro (OSX 10.7) disconnects bluetooth when asleep, have to restart computer to get bluetooth reconnected

Three times in the last week, when I have put my MacPro (2009, running OSX 10.7.5) to sleep, when I wake it, my Bluetooth Apple Trackpad and my Bluetooth Logitech keyboard are disconnected, and I have a little zig-zag slash through the Bluetooth icon in the upper right menu bar.  Up until this week, I have never had this happen before (almost a year running both Trackpad and Keyboard on Bluetooth).  Can't figure out why it is doing this.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -Tim

Okay, I found out how to do a SMC reset, it's what we used to call, "Unplug it and let it sit for a bit.  Then plug it back in."  That is what I did the first time this happened.
It has happened twice more in the last week since I did that, so although that got the Bluetooth Keyboard and Trackpad reconnected that first time, it hasn't solved the problem of why they both keep disconnecting and the bluetooth icon gets the jagged line through it, when the computer goes to sleep.
    Best,

  • Disable automatic Bluetooth reconnect?

    Hello all,
After upgrading to Mavericks, I've noticed a slightly annoying behavior that was not present in Mountain Lion: my computers automatically connect to nearby paired Bluetooth devices, namely my Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter. Because I use this speaker adapter with many devices (desktop, laptop, phone, tablet), I tend to keep it disconnected until I want to use it, since any number of my devices may be powered on when I'm using it. As such, it's annoying to have to disconnect the speaker adapter every time I use my laptop or desktop. Moreover, when they connect to the speaker adapter, they automatically change my default audio output, which is also undesired behavior.
I've looked around in Bluetooth preferences, but cannot find a setting that would disable this behavior.
The only workaround I've found is to unpair the device whenever I'm done using it, which is far from ideal.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    Thanks!

How about turning Bluetooth off on your Mac?
I suppose that would be possible on the laptop, but I wouldn't be able to do it on the desktop, since I use the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Trackpad.

  • I need to add bluetooth/wireless capabilities to g5?

i'm basically computer illiterate - picked up an older powermac g5 w/ 1.8 dual processor - model id powermac 7,2
what do i need to get for wireless and bluetooth - i know i need a card and antenna - dont know which ones will work and i dont want to spend a ton of money on it - any ideas?

If you want the Apple solution, you'll need to get the Aiport Extreme card as well as the Bluetooth module. While the AirPort card is considered a user installable part, the Bluetooth module is not - but it really depends on how mechanically adept you are and if you can get the proper instructions.
Anyway, your machine can use Apple's AirPort Extreme card. The antenna would have come with the computer originally, and I don't believe the card comes with one. If you don't have the antenna, you'll need to purchase one.
For Bluetooth, you can purchase a kit that includes the Bluetooth module, the antenna, and the required screws. Or, if you still have the antenna that came with the machine, you could just purchase the module and screws.

  • Poor Bluetooth sound Mac mini

Hi all. I have just bought a Mac Mini and this is the first Mac I have had since switching from Windows based PC's. I need to use Skype for work but when I connect my bluetooth headset the sound quality both on input and output is very bad and cuts out regularly. I have seen various workarounds on here for older Mac operating systems but nothing for Lion OS and need some help! Any suggestions?

I am having a similar problem and would love some help. I have a Mac Mini and using a BT connection to a ZD5 from Creative. It sounds terrible and the Mac Mini is only about 10 feet away with clear line of sight. If I BT into the speaker with my iPhone or iPad, it sounds crystal clear and very nice. Any thoughts on the Mac Mini BT audio issue?

  • IPhone 4S Bluetooth reconnect issue

    Hi All,
I recently bought an iPhone 4S and am having problems with Bluetooth.
I have two devices that I used on my iPhone 3GS (TomTom Car Kit and Philips ActionFit Bluetooth Stereo Sports Headset,) with which they worked perfectly. Now that I am using my iPhone 4S, I am having a problem the second time I attempt to use them.
The first time time I connect either of the devices, they work perfectly with the iPhone 4S. However, the second time I attempt to use them they will not connect automatically. If I go into the iPhone 4S Bluetooth settings and attempt to connect them manually (by clicking on the device) the iPhone 4S says that it cannot find the device. To connect the device, I first have to forget the device then go through the pairing process all over again.
Has anyone had the same issue? Any thought on what might be the problem or how to resolve it?
This is the second iPhone 4S I have had. I returned the first one due to a multitude of problems including this same Bluetooth issue, so I am assuming the problem is not unique to my device.
    Thanks,
    Noilly

I have been having the same exact problem since I bought my phone a year ago.  I have tried 3 different devices with same result. Very frustrating!!  I have not found anything that helps.  Any information would be much appreciated.

  • Sony Xperia Z3 very poor bluetooth range

Hi, I own a Sony SRS X5 personal speaker which connects trough bluetooth to my Xperia Z3. The problem is that it disconnects when I have the phone 3 feet away, or sometimes less.. Is there a problem with bluetooth range on the Xperia Z3?? I had an Xperia ZL which had great range and worked well with said speakers. Anyone else have this problem???

Do you experience bad bluetooth range with other accessories as well? It would be great if you could try some headset or something to see it the problem is related to the phone, the speaker or a combination of the two.

  • Poor Bluetooth Performance iPhone 6

I replaced an iPhone 5s with the iPhone 6 and find the bluetooth performance is significantly worse.
With the iPhone 6 streaming audio constantly breaks up when another bluetooth device is connected (Nike Fuel Band, or Garmin Edge) or sometimes when the streaming audio receiver is the only connection. This can be very annoying. Do I have a hardware problem or is this a design problem in the iPhone 6?
(I am using iOS 8.1 and it is a 128 gig phone)
    thanks for any feedback

Since iOS 8.1.1bluetooth is working better, One of the devices giving me a headache (Garmin edge 1000 has also had a firmware update. With fingers crossed i am hopeful the problem is resolved.
I guess it was naive on my part to think with each iteration of device that things like bluetooth would work more and more seamlessly - at this point that is clearly not true.
Apparently there is no longer a formal bluetooth standards organization - just a working group.

  • Wi Fi looses connection after long sleep and the performs poorly after reconnecting

I am having trouble with the Wi FI dropping after a long sleep. Then after getting back on line trouble with pages loading slowly. This just started when I switched to Road Runner Lightning using a Ubee DVW 3201B modem/router. My service provider is Brighthouse. They suggested that the MAC firewall is the problem. Do I need the firewall with  asecure router/ any help appreciated.

I have the same issue and have to cycle the wireless modem on the laptop. Doesn't matter if I'm on a preferred netowrk or no, or if I stay on the same network or move. I come out of sleep, I have to cycle the modem.
It's not life threatening, or anything, but it's a hassle. I didn't have the issue with Snow Leopard.

  • How do I prevent bluetooth from reconnecting the keyboard?

A strange question I admit, but here's the deal:
I need to disable my keyboard overnight (no, don't ask why  ), and the power button doesn't seem to work.  It does turn the keyboard off, but after a bit, pressing any key will turn it back on again.
So I next thought of disconnecting bluetooth for the keyboard using the menu command. Just like the power switch, bluetooth reconnects itself after a few seconds.  I can't turn off bluetooth altogether of course, as then I'd lose all control of my Mac.
As things are now, I have to shut down my iMac completely overnight, and I hate that.  Isn't there a way to get bluetooth disconnected for the keyboard (and remain connected to the mouse), until I use the menu command again in the morning?
If not, is there another way to disable the keyboard?  Why did Apple design the power switch to work only temporarily?
    Thanks for your help!

So simple and yet so non-obvious, that I should have to hold a button for some time!
    Thanks so much!
