Poor Broadband performance since day 1 after switc...

Hey, I do hope some one can help me I'm soo frustrated!
I was with Sky broadband and had no issues with speed, lagginess or any problems of any sort to be honest so I'm a Bit confused as to why I'm struggling so bad with BT.
From the day I was switched I've had repeated problems browsing the web, I constantly have half loaded web pages, have to refresh pages or give up and switch to a neighbours BT connection altogether as its just so slow!
My connection speed is stable and has actually increased from 15500kb and 6db SNR to the 16500kb and 3db SNR it has now, the reduction in SNR has not affected the stability at all, it's exactly the same as with 6db. I used to run at 2db SNR with Sky with no issues just for the record.
I'm connected to the test socket, there's no extensions anyway but I'm still connected to that, I've changed micro filters, adsl cable, I've even gone back to my exact sky setup which I had no problems with and it's still laggy as anything.
Nothing has changed my end, at all really so I can only think there's an issue at the exchange or with BT somewhere. I do have an insane number of errors since switching too as you can see below. I had virtually none with Sky. If I run speedtester.net I get a great result which spikes and ends up slowing towards the end of the test and ends up on like 500kb/s which isn't normal.. The Quiet Line Test is silent.
I'll post a BT speedtester result when I can use a laptop. Sorry for the long post but I tried to get all info out there in one go, and I'm not saying Sky are amazing or anything, I used to have BT at my old house and it was great, I'm just giving the comparison to what it was like before.

As I said in my original post i've already done the quiet line test which is silent, and I've just done it again and its silent.
Nothing has changed in my house since switching as I said so I highly doubt anything is causing interference. I've already tried turning everything in the house off and nothing changes.. I was on Fastpath but DLM has changed me to interleaved already.

Mpeg 4 - poor playback performance since Tiger/QT7

Since my Update to Tiger/Quicktime 7 my .mp4 movie playback is very slow - from 0,02 fps to a few fps. I tried a lot of movies - with the same results.
Movie size is 720xabout450, Audio AAC, Video Mpeg 4 (made with 3ivx - mp4-compatible).
With Panther/QT6 with or without the 3ivx QT plugin everything worked fine.
Removing all 3rd-party QT-plugins (incl. 3ivx) didn't help.
System is iBook G3/800, 640 MB RAM.

I've found that movie playback in QuickTime 7 takes about 5% more CPU time than it did in QuickTime 6. That's 5% regardless of the codec you use. While that may not sound like much, if you were previously close to the edge of acceptable playback this change can make a surprising difference in results. You can go from mildly choppy playback to something that might occasionally fall to one half of your previous frame rate. In some cases it's not a slowly decreasing playback quality, but more like falling off of a ledge.
You might also want to investigate to see if any background tasks are running that weren't present under Panther. Widgets would be the first thing to check. They shouldn't be a problem until you've launched Dashboard for the first time after a reboot, but thereafter they can cause problems (normally nothing to worry about, but I have seen a few cases of "runaway" widgets).<hr width="75%">If this suggestion helps in any way, a confirmation or acknowledgment would be appreciated, since that would also help others who may be having the same difficulty. I have only just got an iphone 4 which I immediately updated to ios7 so have nothing to compare it with. But it doesn't even see networks that come up clear on the macbook. Same thing for a colleague in the same spot. previously I had an android phone which picked up just fine.

If you asking me, I would suggest to additonally use a second storage service which also allows you to store your pictures over the 30 days period. I personally use Dropbox with automatic upload for that (https://db.tt/cMEgDUFZ), but there are also other storage services like Flickr for example.

GTT helps performance - one day to be several minute

I have a a case like this:

is it because i put much of the pl-sql statements in my select-sql?Likely because you have reduced context switching between the SQL and PL/SQL engines. By selecting rows in a loop and updating or inserting for each row selected, you are constantly switching back and forth between PL/SQL and SQL, and that is known to be poor for performance. Using a GTT will help improve things because you are reducing the amount of context switches, but then if the data is already coming from database tables, you shouldn't need to use a GTT in the first place... as just doing it directly from the database tables, using something like MERGE will do it all in the SQL engine anyway.

HomeHub 5 broadband performance worse than OpenRea...

I have been running with an OpenReach modem and HomeHub 3 since I first got infinity. Beguiled by promises of superior WiFi reach and performance I paid to upgrade to HomeHub5. Initial impressions were that WiFi performance was no better. I had split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels onto separate SSIDs but was startled a few days later to find the box had just turned off the 2.4 signal with not so much as a by-your-leave.
I am a member of the SamKnows community which runs my uploads and downloads through a separate box and measures the performance. This information is used to supply the powers-that-be with information on actual broadband performance as opposed to marketing claims and I get a monthly report of my own system performance.
On the critical broadband measures - Downstream throughput, Upstream throughput and Latency - the switch shows up on the latest SamKnows report as a degrade of performance. As shown here:
So the question is. What, if anything, can I do to tune the performamce of the modem inside HomeHub 5. Or do I just have toi accept the loss of broadband performance as the price to pay for the unidentified improvement in wi-fi?

BI Statistics Highly Aggregated cube 0TCT_CA1 poor load performance

BI Statistics Highly Aggregated cube 0TCT_CA1 load ffrom DataSource 0TCT_DSA1 has very poor load performance.
In our DEV BW, it ran 8 min for 12,000 records. We have even worse performance in test box.
Initial loads then run very long since DataSource 0TCT_DSA1 does not allow us to load by calendar month.
If you have seen this issue, please let me know.

Compressing the cube would not help, since the cube is empty & we are trying to load 90 days of history.
The source table has an index on the timestamp field that the extractor uses in it's delta loads.
The loads run very slow, even with index dropped & no PSA.
We know that in production there will be appx rows 400,000 loaded 14,400 added with daily delta loads due to aggregation.
So we are seeing slow delta loads in our QA testing.
Not sure why the extractor can't just deliver the 14K aggregated rows vs. 400K.
Note: DS 0TCT_DSA1 has no selction criteria when doing initial full loads.

Poor graphics performance over time

I've seen an issue ever since upgrading to Lion where after some period of time (haven't nailed down how long, but measured in hours) 3D game performance suffers greatly (60+fps down to 12fps). Rebooting fixes the issue until it sits long enough.
The drop doesn't seem to happen mid-game... only after leaving for a while and returning to the computer. I've run all the usual diagnostics. The iMac does not "sleep" during that time (i have it set to always on). During the performance slow down, all system stats look normal: no spikes in CPU usage, memory usage, etc. All internal temperatures report out normal as well. No other hardware or software changes other than the Lion upgrade. When the FPS slow down is occuring, all system animations also suffer (sliding in Dashboard, Dock magnification, etc). Quit the game and the system animations come back to full speed.
The game I play most often's technical support is worthless (i'm looking at you Blizzard), so I'm hoping someone else has run in to this issue, or that an actual support person can help without telling me to run a permissions check.

Poor Flash performance on G4 mac mini

Hi,
I've got a 1.25Ghz PPC G4 mini with 512mb running 10.4.11 that exhibits extremely poor Flash performance; jerky almost unwatchable video. I downgraded from Flash 10 to 9, and it only got slightly better, and most videos now require 10. I've heard the Flash drivers for Macs are awful; is this the problem?
Also, maybe possibly related, when I leave the computer on for awhile, the hard disk eventually, and magically, "fills up". After a restart, I have 1.55G of a 37.5G drive. When I leave it on for awhile, it'll get down to Zero KB, and become so slow that I have to restart it again, if it doesn't just crash outright? Is this a memory leak? Is the only way to cure it by wiping the HD and reinstalling the OS?

I think Boece has nailed it. Can you get more memory in your mini? I know it's a pain and the max quoted by Apple is only 1G, but I think a big part of your problem is just plain lack of memory. When the system does not have enough real memory to work with it will use virtual memory - use the hard drive as if it were memory. This really slows things down, especially when you have a hard drive that is way too full as yours is. You have very little ram to be running OS X and you've effectively blocked the system from the work around it wants to use to deal with this by having a hard drive so full. Add a resource hog like flash and the problem just gets worse. Every time I've added memory to a mac the page-outs have gone down and the system become more responsive. You have a lot of page outs. I've seen macs run all day and have zero - but that's with 4-6g ram. Still, the fewer the better. Also, flash will never run great on the graphics sub-system in that unit. I have a MDD G4 1.25 with a similar graphics unit and flash isn't great on that either. But for security reasons I would never run less than the latest version of flash - it is one of the main conduits of malware these days and although I've never heard of problems on the mac it's still not good to leave gaping security holes. Hope this helps.

I have recently upgraded my ipad mini to iOS 6.0.2 and still have poor wifi performance. My 3rd generation ipad works great on the same network. I have done all the resets I can think of but nothing helps. I would not have purchased the mini had I known.

On the same wifi network, third generation ipad, iphone4s and MacBook Pro work just fine. The ipad mini often can not connect with the mail server and seems to hang a long time trying to open a web page. Had I known the mini had this kind of difficulty on wifi, I would have reconsidered my purchase. I have tried resetting the network and renewing the lease on the mini in addition. To completing the most current iOS upgrade. Still poor wifi performance. Unacceptable, in my opinion.

Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work. Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

[SOLVED] Poor 2D performance of Radeon 7200 with newest xf86-video-ati

Today arrived new version (6.12.99) of ATI OSS driver (also new version of ati-dri 7.6, mesa 7.6 and xorg-server 1.7.1) Since that moment I'm experiencing poor 2D performance, especially in GIMP (scrooling of zoomed canvas). Also switching of virt. desktop where is bloated Java app. or fat Firefox instance result in poor render of screen (program renders by parts/semiwindows).

Poor 3G performance from Hutchinson 3 Service Provide at HK

any Hong Kong 3G iphone users experiencing poor 3G performance on Hutchinson 3 network? test my 3G iphone against original EDGE iphone at same spot on office floor, browsing to www.yahoo.com and the performance was marginally quicker than EDGE. after calling our service provide, being told that we were capped on network bandwidth of 7.2mbps but the real speed testing was around 0.3mbps.... this is unacceptable performance.
Apple - please speak to vendor, this is making your product look BAD.

iPhone 4S Poor Battery Performance SOLVED!!
I found the issue with the iPhone 4S battery performance.
I bought 2 iPhone 4S models on the first day. One for my wife and one for me. The strange thing was that mine would kill the battery in 4-6 hours and ran VERY WARM to the touch. My wife's phone worked great. It was cold to the touch. She would forget to charge it at night... and the battery performance was great... even better than our prior 3GS models.
What was the difference? I have my phone connected to Exchange for my corporate email. But exchange is not exactly the problem. The issue is in Notification Center. For some reason, I had hundreds of calendar reminders that kept refreshing on notification center. Furthermore, the reminders would flicker between the time remaining and the start time for the event at such a fast rate that it could not be read... (clearly a bug)
What is the solution? Go to Settings>Notifications>Calendar and disable Notification Center. You can still have the "alert style" set to Banners, or Alerts and you will still receive notices about your events, but it will not BUILD a summary in the Notification Center drop down screen. This is where the BUG exists. [Oddly, this does not affect my iPad 2, but is an issue for iOS 5 on the iPhone (different builds, maybe?)]
So, it appears that Notification Center has an endless loop in collecting the calendar events from Exchange and this is burning up our 4S batteries. Once you stop the madness from Notification Center, your iPhone 4S will perform as advertised.

QT and iTunes unable to run since day one!

Hi everyone,
I'm desperate for an answer I cannot sleep! This problem has been around for some time but now it is time I face it.
Since day one when I bought this Acer notebook, after installing some basic programmes like Microsoft Office etc, I cannot run quicktime nor itunes after installing. The installation went fine, but they crash every time I open them. Neither can I open Quicktime in control panel.
I cannot uninstall both qt and itunes as well. The uninstaller will quit unexpectedly in the middle of loading.
Also I cannot move, rename nor delete mov files. So they are stuck there I cannot modify them.
I have been using some Quicktime Alternative codecs I found on google to play QT mov, but now I need the QT plugin for Combustion and After Effects.
Can anyone with any fixes help me out please? Thanks a lot.

It is because QT and iTunes didn't work before that's why I went installing the alternative.. I removed the QT alternative nevertheless, QT and iTunes still crash when I open them.
