l had tomtom installed in my iphone 3gs and working fine , today try to use tomtom satnav n it come up poor gps reception , l try everywhere still the same please help
There is easy Resolution for poor GPS reception Issue, that i found when i faced it, IPhone has Antennae (the visible stainless steel which forms the perimeter around the phone). Which is Covered by bumper plastic Case, so Reception Area becomes limited, so if you face the problem, just remove the plastic case and check, both GPS and WIFI Reception should improve if there is no other issue.

Since I have many problems with GPS drop outs and poor signal strength errors when using navigation software for Iphone 3GS firmware 4.0.2.
First I reset my Iphone completely and installed all apps from scratch, but this has not solved my problem.
I now tried several tests to compare with both an Android phone HTC Desire and a very old Symbian phone Nokia E65. Neither the Nokia E65 or HTC Desire have any drop outs in the GPS reception while my Iphone has several dropouts, making navigation horrible.
Am I the only one having this problem ?Unfortunately, you are not the only one (I personally use TomTom with car kit). This is one of the numerous bugs introduced by iOS4 and this one has been reported by many in this forum. Be careful not to use your iPhone based navigation system in a foreign country, due to high roaming costs ! I had to use it and nearly had an heart attack when reading the invoice.

N95 and poor GPS reception in Berkshire

I have an N95 with the UK maps loaded directly to my memory card but try as I might its almost impossible to get a GPS fix from Reading/Wokingham in Berkshire. My attempts have been predominantly outside with the slide open, holding the phone at the suggested angle and in a month I've managed to get a usable lock twice. I also have GPS integrated within my BMW and this never lets me down. Not much use when we're out on the pushbikes tho!
Does anyone have any suggestions ?
TonyWell, GPS prob. in short:
- Everyting that is in the blocking the line of sight with the Satelite and GPS reciver will weaken the signal, even the type of paint uses in the cover of the N95...
Its only a low powered signal, think its about 5W transmitters. Some new tech. can use bouncing signals, using a adv. antenna and software, I doubt that my N95 has that feature.
- It takes 12-20 for the reciver to read the M-code used for the reciver to calculate the pos. of the sats.
If started at the same spot where is was shutt of the GPS might use old data to faster pos. it self.
- If the Dillusion of Possion(DOP) is high, it takes longer and might not give you a position at all. This is due to the amount of vissible Sats from your reciver.
Give it time, make shure the to have a clear horizont...

So I am guesing probably the iPhone signal reception issue came from the iPhone SIM card reader itself not adjusting to the SIM chip.

N8 poor signal reception and other hardware issues...
I have always been a Nokia fan . I started with Nokia 6600, then N70, then N82 and now a Nokia N8.
However, I am facing the worst experience with N8 reception issues.
The problems faced are as under :
1) Poor Signal Reception Issues - Signal strength is weak and is constantly fluctuating compared to other Nokia Phones. At my workplace, if Nokia N82 displays 5 bars, N8 would display only 1 or 2 bars.
2) Phone freezes many times. Whenever an Alarm is enabled, phone freezed much more.
3) Purple Tint in the display. Nokia Service Centre says that its normal but according to me, they are just ignoring this issue.
4) Vibration is weak : I often do not realize when the phone is vibrating in my pocket !!
Upcoming Symbian Anna will just improve the user interface but will not be able to solve these hardware issues.
If Nokia plans a hardware update facility for N8 users wherein they can fix the signal reception issues and increase the RAM to 1 GB atleast, I would retain this phone for few years.
But, now, I intend to switch to Samsung Galaxy S II.

I am agree with poor signal issue with nokia N8. I have two cell with one is N8 and other one is N26 with nearly 4.5 year old but at same place Nokia N8 showing very poor quality of network signal compared to N26. So for same network provider with two different cell with same manufacture how can drastic different that is also investing nearly RS.22000!
Please resolve the issue ASAP.

Nokia 5800 - Bad GPS reception lately (maybe after...

When I first got the phone (about 3 months back), the GPS reception was fine. In buildings it didn't find sattelites, but when I was outside it was no problem. But lately the reception is really bad. Even when I'm outside and not in range of large buildings, my 5800 can only find a few sattelites.
I think it maybe is since I upgraded the firmware of my phone to v30, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know what I can do about it? It's really annoying!
Thank you all in advanceMay be you have deleted the Maps data. Connect the phone to PC thru' USB and thru' Windows Explorer browse for the 'Cities' folder and the 'qf' files on the Phone / Memory card. Delete them. Now disconnect the phone and open Maps..and close them after some 20-30 seconds so that the folder structure is recreated. Now connect the phone again and open Nokia Suite . Go to Maps in the Nokia suite and select the Maps you want to download / install.. and click the appropriate tab. Once installed you should be able to use the Maps once again ...

Get perfect GPS-operation in your car with this simple modification that will not void warranty:
First find some metal tape. Cupper or aluminium. Put two 120 mm pieces of tape together, glue to glue, but leave 20 mm at one end. Let the protecting paper sit on sticky surface. Cut stripes 10 mm wide. Now you have a few "antenna-boosters".

I have several cheap external bluetooth GPS units, and they all do the job perfectly, with no work whatsoever. They all cost around £10 GBP.
The big advantage of an external unit is that, apart from the better antenna, it takes the hard work away from the phone, leaving the phone just to redraw the maps, and reposition the arrow. The less the small phone memory and processor has to do the better. -

Poor Wifi Reception All Of A Sudden
My Samsung Galaxy Nexus has recently started to have very poor wifi reception in places it used to get very good wifi reception. I know for a fact it isn't my modem/router because we have multiple laptops in the house, other phones, and an Xbox connected to the internet and they all receive the same great signal they used to. I have read a lot of other forums about the Jelly Bean update having something to do with it on many other phones. I have had the Jelly Bean update for many months now and this problem has just started occurring, I am fortunate enough to have 4G where i live but i don't like using it all the time. If there is a fix i would like to know it asap! i need wifi on my phone!
took the offending ipad2 to the retail store...they restored to factory and then saw what we did: crummy reception, right inside the Apple store. They then gave us a new one to replace the offending bad unit.
at least they are still a leader in customer support. My suspicion is that an antenna died. -

I have a brand new EliteBook 8470p with a Broadcom wifi card. I have a very, very poor wifi reception. Only if I am 2 or 3 meters from the wifi hub, in open view will I receive correctly the wifi. The transfer rate drops dramaticaly if I go further away. I opened the service cover to have a look at the wifi card. There are two wires connected for the antenna, labelled 1 and 2. There are 3 other wires in standby, labelled main (red label), aux (blue label) and MMO or MMD (yellow label), can't read clearly.
Is there any chance that the antenna has been incorrectly connected. I can't believe a commercial product would have such a miserable reception capability ...

Poor 4G reception in Gungahlin ACT
When is Telstra going to fix the poor 4G reception in Gungahlin, I havent been able to get 4G service for the last 3 months?the fault information says it is an inermittent problem, ETA unkown???? Intermittent, give me a break!!! it is useless, so much so I have had to turn the 4G off, and go back to 3G, which is working great, but you dont buy a 4G phone to run 3G???
Your best bet, is if you haven't already speak to Mobile Assurance and they will be able to check the details they have, and the more people who report the issue, the more it will show the issue is greater than 'intermittent' as your message would imply, and as such the more likely it is to get resolved quicker.

I am using a Miglia TVMicro, and after getting my Mac back from the shop, and having used a normal TV for the past few weeks - I realise just how poor the reception is with this device.
I am getting an analog signal through a cable connection in my apartment. I have no control over antenna, booster or anything else. The reception using the same cable and everything else is fine. I have less channels (searched using all systems), and the channels I have are often grainy with poor sound.
Any advise on how to alleviate this problem will be most appreciated.

DamokI'm using a TVMicro with the Elgato software. The picture quality on my iMac is pretty good. Not as good as with my Sony TV but I mainly use the TVMicro for saving shows and then convert them for my ipod touch.
Do you have a splitter that feeds your cable line into your TVMicro? Splitters degrade the cable signal alot. If so try a direct connect without going through a splitter.
If you've tried upplugging the cable line from the tv and then plugging that into the TVMicro and still get bad quality your TVMicro might be faulty or maybe a bad USB port.

Poor wifi reception on an iPad 2 running IOS 6

I've been having real problems with my iPad 2 and poor wifi reception since I upgraded to IOS6 from 5.1.1. I'm one of those people who waited for google maps to come out before upgrading so I only made the upgrade on the 19th Dec 2012.
To keep it short, since the upgrade the range at which I can pick up a wifi signal has halved on the iPad. At home I could run around the entire house and receive a signal, now I can barely leave the room that the router is situated in before the signal drops completely. I've tried this at other locations (my parents house, for example) where I know I could previously receive a good signal on 5.1.1 and this issue is the same.
I've tried all the fixes I can find on the support forums and I've tried a complete reset on the iPad. The problem remains and I cannot resolve this. I know this isn't a router problem as we purchased a new router for my father for Christmas and the same issue occurs.
I upgraded my iPhone 4 at the same time and it is fine. This problem seems to be specific to the iPad 2.
I just wonderd if anyone else has expereinced this issue?
