Poor import sound quality

My import settings are now set to AAC Encoder 128 kbps. Every Cd I import has popping, hissing and other noise issues on at least a couple of the tracks. What settings should I use to minimize this issue?

You may check with the manufacturer of your computer or disc drive to see if there is a firmware update for the drive.
If you have Sound Enhancer enabled, or equlizer - try and disable it to see if it gets better
128kbps .aac files shouldn't have these popings. You may try and enable Error correction and then re-import one of the bad sounding CD's to see if it helps.
To enable Error correction:
1. Choose Edit > Preferences
2. In the General pane, click Import settings
3. Select "Use error correction when reading CDs"
If nothing helps, try and select a higher bitrate in the Import settings (160kbps , 192kbps , 256kbps etc.)

  • Poor headphone sound quality w/ bluetooth

I connected my Motorola S805 headphones using bluetooth in my Mac but the sound quality is pretty bad (yes I am using the Headphone setting and not Headset)...there is a low hissing sound, the quality of sound is extremely poor (the headphones themselves have excellent sound quality when attaching them to my Ipod jabra connector) and they cut in and out constantly. Is this because my keyboard and mighty mouse are connected using bluetooth as well? Is there some sort of bandwith limitation? Any new drivers I need to know about. This is ridiculous......

I am bumping this post because I want to set up a wireless bluetooth workstation for my MBP- keyboard, mouse and headphones. I don't hear a lot of people talking about this type of setup. I would primarily be using the setup for gaming.
Did you get your headphones to work properly?

  • Poor iPod sound quality

I have a third generation 15GB iPod and have never been impressed with the sound quality. I've tried all variations of the EQ and have replaced the iPod earbuds and rip most of my music at 168kb mp3 formats. I'm sure the quality is subpar after listening to a friend's Samsung mp3 player with my own headphones and hearing a big difference. Is there anything I can do to remedy my iPod's sound? Would restoring the factory settings and reloading the music help? I've got all the latest iPod software, according to iTunes.

I have not tried it with the phone on, it's always been in the airplane mode when I listen to the music.  So with airplane mode the 3G and Wi-Fi are off.  Not sure what BT is.
Odd thing is that podcasts, tv shows and films all are okay  ... I don't hear any real difference.  It's only with the music.  Know that when I downloaded my music from both the MBP and MBA I used the lower bit rate, but would not think that should make a difference.  Since the iPodnano is loaded at the same bit rate as well.
There are previous posts here in Discussions that seem to show there is a problem with the iPod on the iPhone4.  But, most of those were posted in the last year with nothing recent.  So if it was an iPhone4 firmware issue I thought maybe it had been resolved over time.  Now I'm wondering.
I did just to the latest update this week on the iPhone4, maybe that's what did it?

  • Poor 6G sound quality

I had my original nano replaced under warranty with what appears to be a refurbished model. The replacement however has obvious sound quality issues where music sounds muddy, and EQ adjustments don't really help. I've tried a multitude of earphones but none seems to help.  Too late to take the device back. What is the problem? What are my options?

Try to convert the music format.... iTunes can do that for you. You choose the converting you want (ei. AAC 128kbps or better)..... the higher the bitrate is, the more memory it consumes.....

  • Iphone 5 poor outgoing sound quality

Don't want to sound stupid but I am getting complaints that I sound like I am inside a tunnel. I tested my iphone5 and outgoing sound quality is up and down. for a few seconds it is normal then it drops and then again normal and drops again, like a wave. Any sugestion? Anybody experienced it?

We finally gave up on the iphone 5. I think it is a dud. We started to address our issues by speaking to Verzion tech support. They recommended a reboot / restore of the phone. No joy. They passed us on to Apple. Apple thought I was crazy, but replaced the phones. Ten minutes later, was still having the same issues described in an earlier post. Over time, they became more prominent. Worked with Apple support over the phone and email. Worked with a more senior technician and even he became baffled by the problems, but atleast acknowledged that their was growing evidence their was a problem. Apple could provide no solutions to any of the 4 issues I posed, nor could they provide a timeline for an OS update that might resolve some of the problems. After listening to crappy calls for more than a month and having my ear pop no less than three times a day on phone calls, we finally threw in the towel. Apple / Verizon could do nothing but recommend reset processes and genius bar appointments to consider replacement. How many times do you have to replace it to acknowledge that a problem exist in the device, not just one of the devices??? Verizon agreed to free us of our contract and we returned the phones to the vendor, albeit for a very reduced restocking fee. We couldn't get them to agree to nothing given all the technical issue we'd had; but honestly, it was worth the nominal fee to be done with it. We went back to AT&T and decided not to risk the iphone 5 even on their network. We went with the Samsung Galaxy SIII and it has been great. Great sound, great speaker, great functionality, no popping, fluid messagin, etc. No complaints. The iphone 5 was / is just plain disappointing when you take a step back and look at the what Apple has done, and then compare it to the Galaxy. Apple is losing its edge fast; and that's coming from someone who owns an iMac, Macbook pro, iPad, ipod, and 2 ipod touches. Look at the new touches... same thing different shape. How inventive.

  • Poor imported audio quality in Captivate 4

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having some serious audio quality issues with Captivate 4.  I'm recording my audio in Audacity and importing it into Captivate.   The audio sounds great in Audacity, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and everything else I've tested it in.  However, once I import it into Captivate and press play, it sounds horrible.  It's thin, tinny, and robotic.  The degradation in quality is considerable.  I've tried recording my audio as both .mp3s and .wavs, but they both sound bad once imported.  I've also downloaded all of the available patches, including the patch specifically designed to address poor audio quality in Captivate 4.  I've tinkered with every audio setting I can find.  No luck.  I have noticed that the shorter/smaller audio files are less garbled, and really short files are sometimes not garbled at all.  I would record directly into Captivate, but the audio sounds even worse when I do that.  Anyone have any idea how I can remedy this situation?  Just for background info, I'm running Captivate 4 on a macbook running XP via parallels.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I responded here in the forums because I figure other people might need this info as well.
    In Audacity, I go to:
Preferences -> Quality -> Default Sample Format and set it to 16 bit.
    Then click OK.
When you record new audio tracks, they should automatically be set to 16 bit.
    Does that help?

  • Recent update has resulted in poor sound quality

Recent update from apple has spoilt sound quality. Any one else have same problem

I had poor music sound quality, ect, after installing Update 7.1.1. Issue was resolved by holding down Homebutton and power on/off button simultaneously until Apple logo appeared. Sound quality now perfect from my mini iPad .

  • Poor sound quality in timeline and export; fine in Source?

    Hello all.
Newbie to Pr but experienced pro in digital audio. I'm stumped and know I'm just missing something somewhere.
I've made a music video for one of my songs. The graphics are all done (in AE), imported to Pr and eveything looks great. I import the final mix of the audio and it sounds very low quality when played from the timeline and in the final output, regardless of format (I've tried several presets and custom settings as well). I played around and noticed that the audio sounds fine when played from the Source window inside Premier.
The Pr session is comrised of 18 video tracks (not all playing at once, of course) and one stereo audio track.
I've tried re-exporting the audio from Logic at different bit depths, sample rates and file formats (mp3, wav, AAC, etc) but the results are the same every time: Source (Pr)sounds fine, Logic output sounds fine, rendered / timeline playback sounds like very low quality mp3 and final product sounds just as bad.
I've tried everything I can think of. I hope one of you can show me what I'm missing.
    TIA!

    Premier Pro CC

    Memory  8 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)

    Thank you for the reply!
I was experiencing the same results no matter what export settings I used. Plus the poor sound quality was present in the timeline itself, without even exporting the project.
I finally threw my hands up, started a completely new project, drug the same audio file in... sounded fine. Copied / Pasted the video clips from the original, broken project and boom, eveything is fixed. Yeah, corrupted Pr file it turns out. All I had to do was start a new project and import all the old components.
I've had to do this in Logic a lot (increasingly, these days). I just wish I'd tried it 10 hours earlier! Ha.
Anyway, problem solved, and thanks very much!

  • Poor Sound Quality with iTunes 8

I just installed iTunes 8, and all of the songs in my Library play with poor sound quality regardless of the view I have open. The sound is really muffled, but the voices and higher frequencies sound tinny and shaky. I tried playing with the Equalizer and Sound Enhancer settings, but was not able to fix the problem.
What can I do to get the iTunes 7 sound back?

I, too, am experiencing a significant decline in the sound quality of recordings in my collection. The recordings sound very muffled on the low, bass end of the sound spectrum, and the treble is significantly diminished. This decline in sound quality occurred immediately after I upgraded to iTunes 8. The sound quality in iTunes 7 was fine, and overall better.
It appears that my iTunes 8 attempts to improve the playback sound quality of songs with 128 kbps bit rates, as these songs in my collection do seem to actually sound better. However, most of my collection are recordings imported at the higher sound quality standard of 320 kbps from CDs that I purchased, and these recordings all sound poor since I've installed iTunes 8.

  • Sound Quality Problem when importing

I am importing my CD collection to my IPOD Classic but a small number of CDs are importing with poor sound quality that sounds like interference.  Anybody know what then problem is and how to fix it?
The CDs are from the late 80s to early 2000s but age of the CD does not appear to be the problem.
    Thanks

How does the quality sound lower?
What is your sample frequency? (of the recorded files)
Have you set the recording bitdepth to 24?

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

  • Improve/extend equalizer and add 3D sound. Sound quality really poor.

I've been using the 2g nano for a while now and i must say the audio quality is really poor if compared with my 3 year old iRiver (which only has 256mb memory). Lots of people keep saying how great the sound quality is but i believe people saysing that just dont know any better. For those who do hear the difference the only satisfaction is the storage capacity.
The Equalizer is a big shock. People (even Apple fans) say its best to leave it off for improvement. Why ? because turned on the music gets heavily distorted. People even blame their earbuds. So people go off and buy a €40 earbud just for that extra bit of improvement which the nano should already provide with the nano itself.
So this is what should be done :
    - improve overall sound quality
    - add custom equalizer
    - add Xtreme 3D sound (= is a really big ++ iRiver users understand)

  • Sky Go sound quality is poor

Sky Go sound quality is poor, hollow and reverb like, and happens with 'on demand', 'on now' and I assume also 'downloads'. Sky Go is a great concept and feature, but this sound issue significantly reduces your enjoyment and deters you from using it. Other broadcaster apps work fine for me, When will this Sky one be fixed?

just to clarify on Omicron's comment "Used Sky Go on my iPad 4 iOS 7  -  no sound problems; " - Do you actually mean no problems, but the sound quality is still poor? The point of this thread is to highlight the ongoing poor sound quality in Sky Go across all platforms, which many people on here suspect is due to overcompression. Could you confirm you are still having these issues, otherwise i am worried moderators may suspect the issue is fixed, which i can confirm from an episode of Blacklist on the train this morning is certainly not the case. Sound is still tinny, quiet and washed out on any downloaded porgram on iOS. Any news on if a fix for this is going to be in an update any time soon???  Omicron wrote:
Hi, Further to my earlier response I have now done the following: Used Sky Go on my iPad 4 iOS 7  -  no sound problems; Streamed a short film from You Tube using my PC - no problems; Installed the BBC iPlayer on my PC and streamed Atlantis - no problem. So I'm reasonably confident that: The sound card on my PC is behaving itself; There is no problem with the original recording on the BBC; There i no problm with the Sky recording on my iPad. One possible conclusion is that Internet Explorer 11 version 11.0.9600.16384, and Google Chrome Version 30.0.1599.101 m working under Windows 8.1 64 bit are not fully compatible with Sky Go. Bob

  • Poor sound quality after update on iPhone4 to iOS6

Any one with the same problem ?
After upgrading to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4, the sound quality during phone calls is very poor.
The other side is ok with listening.
The phone is not modified (unlocked and oth....)
    Any advice is welcome !
    Thanks !

Work in a professional studio and often use my itunes from my iphone 4gs to record sounds and samples. I have notice since the iso 6 update there is very poor quality sound coming from my phone now. It's seems the bit quality is very poor also the volume. I also noticed the songs are using way more power from the phone while playing.... Apple should really address these issues...a lot of  loyal costumers, such as myself use Apple products in the music industry everyday. We have grown to expect certain standards and quality from Apple products and it seems you are taking steps backwards not forwards.

  • Poor sound quality on airtunes and airport express

I recently configured a new Airport Extreme base station and two airport expresses. I used the airport expresses to extend my network but the sound quality is very poor when I run itunes no my stero. can anyone tell me why and how to fix it. The sound is very scratchy and there is no volume.

    Dear All,
I'd like to follow up because I think that the answer to why I am getting poor sound quality my be in how I set up my wireless network. I'd like to get some feedback about this and some help about how to correct it.
My wireless network has three components.
    1. "Base Station" which is a new Airport Extreme.
    2. Unit "Number 1" which is an Airport Express located in my living room and connected to my stereo. it is 30 feet away from the "Base Station."
    3. Unit "Number 2", also an Airport Express that is upstairs in a bedroom and connected to a ruby imac. via its ethernet port.
Wireless strength is excellent in all locations and all other services are working well from a laptop, the ruby mac or the imac. My problem only seems readily apparent when playing itunes through the stereo's speakers.
My wireless system is configured as follows:
Base Station: Wireless mode is set to participate in wireless network and to allow this network to be extended. The WDS mode is main and is set to allow wireless clients. The two airport expresses are identified by ID number as remotes.
Unit 1 and 2 are configured as WDS remotes and to allow wireless clients and identify the base station as WDS main.
I recently configured a new Airport Extreme base
station and two airport expresses. I used the
airport expresses to extend my network but the sound
quality is very poor when I run itunes no my stero.
can anyone tell me why and how to fix it. The sound
is very scratchy and there is no volume.
