Poor performance scorecard Internet Explorer

When using Internet Explorer (8) the performance of the scorecard module ( strategy map, KPI's, watch list) is VERY POOR.
Both, when running as end user and also while developing scorecards its very time consuming.
In contrast to Firefox. Internet Explorer is a factor 10 slower.
For example, opening a strategy tree with 20 KPI's within Firefox is 1 second
The same action within IE is 10 seconds.
Are there any options within IE (or OBIEE) to solve the poor performance issue?
Regards,
Marcel

Hi,
As I known, with a 64-bit OS, for compatibility reason, the 32-bit IE is your Default browser, not the 64-bit. Most often a difference in performance is seen between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer is more due to the add-ons enabled on
the 32-bit version. Most add-ons aren’t yet compatible with 64-bit Internet Explorer, so the list of enabled add-ons is much shorter.
If you are experiencing noticeably slower performance when using Internet Explorer 32-bit, try using Tools > Manage Add-ons to disable unnecessary add-ons. You can also temporarily disable all add-ons to see the performance difference between running
with an add-on enabled and disabled.
For better support, we would like to confirm the detailed issue you found on IE 64.
Hope it helps.

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? The site listed below is a job application site. I've had this same problem with other job application sites also.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

  • SSAS performance counters do not appear in Internet Explorer

I created a few SSAS memory related performance counters (eg MSAS 2008:Memory\Memory Limit Low KB, \MSAS 2008:Memory\Memory Limit High KB etc) to monitor memory and saved it as .html (as I have done previously).
When I open this .html file in IE 11, these performance counters do not get loaded.
My machine details are as follows
    OS: Windows 8 (64 Bit)
    SQL Server 2008R2 (64 Bit)
IE (i believe) is also 64 bit. For reference my IE 11's version is 11.0.9600.17126IS.
Previously these used to work and now only the SSAS counters do not seem to load.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Gautham,
According to your description, you created a few SSAS memory related performance counters and save it as .html, and then open this file in IE 11, the issue is that these performance counters do not get loaded, right?
In your scenario, you said that you IE is also 64 bit, are you sure about it? Normally, we run IE 32 bit. On 64-bit versions of Windows, there is a separate link in the Start Menu to Internet Explorer (64 bit). If there is no mention of 64-bit in the About
IE screen, the 32-bit version is opening.  Here is a similar issue with yours, and the reason is related to the version of IE, please refer to the link below to see the detail information.

  • Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup - Internet Explorer 8

I understand there have been similar threads on this but they all related to printing directly out of Acrobat reader rather than a browser.
On some machines when printing a PDF from within Internet Explorer the error "before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup" is displayed and users are unable to print. I have removed printers, changed the default printer none of which have worked. If you change Acrobat reader to not display PDFs in Internet Explorer printing works fine.
    System Information
    Windows 7 Enterprise
    Acrobat Reader 9.3.0
    Internet Explorer 8
Any information regarding this would be appreciated.
    Cheers

This works in Photoshop cs4: SOLUTION!!! I get the same msg... "before you can perform..." etc. on some images that I've printed before but not on others. I haven't found the cause, but here's an easy WORKAROUND: Open your file, Select All, Copy, File>new, paste... and print away!!!

  • SSRS Extreme Slow Performance on Grouping / DrillDown Action with Internet Explorer

    Hi
I have an Infrastructure with SQL Server 2012 / SSRS 2012 / VS 2012 and IE 11 and custom authentication.
Reports can be opened in reasonable time, despite when they are grouped, they are silly slow (2-10 min for 1000 records).
I've already checked the other well known topics causing the same issue with stored procedure parameters and "keep together".
I think this could be a Internet Explorer Bug, because in SQL Server Profiler the queries are running fast (< 3sec.) and also the SSRS executionLog 2 shows fast performance. Unfortunately I can not try to compare it with another browser, because we need
    the Custom Authentication Module.
Surprisingly when I group the rows, but do not use the +/- symbols for drilldown, the report is processed in zero time, as well as when I have no grouping, just plain rows...
Any Idea? Could it be a security setting blocking something?
    Cheers Lu_F

    Hi Lu_F,
As per my understanding, there are grouping and drilldown report in the report, the report can run in reasonable time even through there is grouping, if you expand drilldown reports, the report runs very slowly.
Report server performance is affected by a combination of factors that include hardware, number of concurrent users accessing reports, the amount of data in a report, and output format. In this case, in would recommend you open the report in the Report Manager
from the Report Server machine, and check if the Drill-Down works as expected. If it works, please contact your network team to fix the network issue. By design, the Drill-Down uses JavaScript to do a postback to the report server to expand or collapse the
toggled items. If there has a network issue, the action will be a little slow.
In addition, in order to improve the performance of the report, we can split drilldown reports into parameterized drillthrough reports, because Drillthrough reports do not run until a user clicks the drillthrough link in the main report. Drilldown reports
process all data even when the data is first hidden. You can also add cache and snapshot for the report if you don’t need up-to-date results, this means that you will not see newest data until it is refreshed.

  • Performance problems in Internet Explorer

    Hi,
I have the problem that my Application is running much slower in Internet Explorer then in Firefox. For example I have a view on my page and when I go up and down with the arrow keys the row selection slows down in IE. In Firefox it runs fast and I have no problems. The only problem is that we use IE as company browser. So we can't use Firefox at the moment. Is there a known issue for that behaviour?
We use here weblogic 10.3.5 on 64bit Windows 7 machine with 32bit JDK.
    Thanks & regards,
    Kai

We use IE9 and IE8. The JDev Version is 11.1.2.1.0.
But I've found the reason now. I've set RowSelection to single. Now I changed it to none and it works OK. But Firefox is still faster when I navigate thru the rows, in IE it's workable now.
The disadvantage is now that I have no visible RowSelection. Any ideas how to work around my problem?
    Thanks,
    Kai

  • Possible JSF bug: link failure in Internet Explorer

    Greetings:
I have a form which, among other things, contains a table (generated using the <h:datatable> tag). One of the columns in this table contains Command Link (h:commandLink> whose action attribute points to a method in one of my Beans. The command link contains an onmouseup event handler which displays a dialog box for confirmation before actually going to the link.
When I click on the lcommand link in any Mozilla- based browser (Mozilla, Firefox, etc), the confirmation box comes up and, when ithe user clicks on it tmy Bean's method is called. This behavior is expected and works well.
Unfortunately, in Internet Explorer, the confirmation box comes up, but my Bean's method is never called! This is the first time I have seen a custom tag of any kind (in this case, <h:commandLink>!) work in one browser and fail in another.
Could someone tell me why this is or (preferably) how to make my commandLink actions work in Internet Explorer???
Thank s anyone who can help.
    Factor Three

Actually, I found the problem. It is a combination of poor implementation of the <h:commandLink> tag's Javascript and a difference in Browser operability.
The Browser difference is apparently in the way different browsers handle events. In Mozilla- based browsers, when you have an onmouseup event and an onclick event, apparently both event handlers get called. In Microsoft- based browsers, however, apparently if you have an onmouseup event and an onclick event only one of the event handlers (in this case the onmouseup event) gets called. Why Internet Explorer's developers made it behave this way is a mystery, because it goes against the way most Windows applications handle such events (usually, they process any mousedown events that exist, then any mouseup events, then mouseclick events!).
The result is that in a Mozilla browser, my onmouseup event handler gets called, I click on my Javascript- based confirmation box, then the browser activates the onclick event handler that the <h:commandLink> tag generates. In Internet Explorer, however, only the onmouseup event handler gets called; since <h:commandLink> places the code for submitting my form in its generated onclick event, that code never gets called and Internet Explorer never calls my Bean method.
The poor implementation of <h:commandLink>'s Javascript comes from the fact that this particular tag does not allow the declaration of onclick events in its TLD. Why the creator of this tag did this is a mystery to me, because all other tags in this category allow such event declarations in their TLDs. It could be said that because <h:commandLink> provides its own onclick event it is logical not to allow such events. This logic is flawed, since other link tags (like <h:commandButton>) also provide their own onclick events, yet they allow programmers to define their own onclick events. I have looked at the generated event handlers for these tags; all they do is take the event handler you define, append a semicolon at the end, then append their standard event handling code behind yours. For some reason, the <h:commandLink> tag does not do this.
The reason <h:commandLink>'s Javascript handling is poor is because it prevents the addition of any kind of client- side validation, confirmation, or any other operations someone may wish to do using this tag prior to invoking any server- side functionality. The reason why I put in the onmouseup event handler in the first place was because in my user interface I needed to display a warning to a user and to get confirmation that the user really wanted to perform a certain operation before actually going to the server and performing it. Since <h:commandLink> is the one tag that invokes a required bean method and passes it parameters based on an item's position in a list, I had to use that tag and, since it didn't allow onclick event declarations, I had no choice but to use onmouseup.
If <h:commandLink> had been better implemented (in other words, if it allowed the declaration of onclick events like other tags do) then I would not have been left open to the problems associated with the different browsers' event handling. For this reason, I can say that I have, indeed, found a JSF bug -- though it is a rather subtle one.
In the case of my application, I was able to come up with a kludge which makes it work on all browsers. Basically, I took the onclick event handler code generated by the <h:commandLink> tag and copied it into my onmouseup event handler. Now the proper submits are being done when any browser is used.
Of course, it would be better if someone at Sun were to make a slight change in <h:commandLink>'s implementation, or if Microsoft were to make its browser implementation more consistant with Javascript standards. But then, life for all of us would be better if we had World Peace...

  • Response.TransmitFile not working with Internet Explorer 11

My website works fine with FireFox, and it worked fine with Internet Explorer too up until a few weeks ago (at least).  Now, with Internet Explorer 11 (running on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit), when I click the button to download the file (a Word document),

  • Very poor performance Windows RT with Citrix

    Hi All,
I'm currently in a project with a customer implementing XenApp 7.6. The customer uses Dell XPS 10 tablets with Windows RT installed. We have installed the latest Receiver from the Microsoft Store and added a connection through a Citrix NetScaler Gateway
    VPX version 10.5.
The user experience on the tablet is very very poor. This is extreme when browsing using Internet Explorer 11. On a normal Windows 8 client or a thin client with WES2009 the experience is good.
Besides the bad performance there's also a problem with the home/start button on the remote OS (Windows Server 2012 R2). The button isn't working or only after multiple tries.
This experience is also on a windows 8.1/10 machine with the Citrix Receiver from the store.
Any thoughts about the issue's above? What can we do to optimize the environment for working with the Citrix Receiver from the store?
    Kind Regards,
    René

  • Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 wont install Internet Explorer 10

    Hey all,
Having an issue on my clients machine and I have yet to figure it out. The machine is a Dell Latitude E6330 running a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1 install. Currently the machine has Internet Explorer 9 on it which is unacceptable due to compatibility
with a client website he uses.
Every single time Windows Updates are ran everything will update and install correctly except for
KB2830477 and Internet Explorer 10 giving me Error Codes
    800736B3 and 9C59.
I have attempted installing these two updates manually by downloading them from Microsoft website and installing them in different orders. KB2830477 says that it's not compatible with my system and IE 10 simply fails to install.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I've hit a wall here.

Method 1:The System File Checker tool
To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the
system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    1.    Click
Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    2.    Right-click
cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click
    Continue
    3.    At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow
For more information visit the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212
Now you can try to perform the Windows update and check if the issue persists.
    Method  2:
System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies might be caused by various hardware failures or might be caused by software
issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates not to work. The System Update Readiness Tool tries to resolve these inconsistencies.
After you download the System Update Readiness Tool, it runs a onetime scan for inconsistencies that might prevent future servicing operations. This scan typically takes less than 15 minutes to run. However, the tool might take significantly longer
on some computers. The Windows Update progress bar is not updated during the scan, and progress seems to stop at 60% complete for some time. This behavior is expected. The scan is still running and you should not cancel the update.
For more information and to download the “System update readiness tool” visit the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Method  3: You may also try to perform a “Clean boot” and check if the issue persists.
    NOTE: THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE DISCLAIMER
Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using
Third Party Software is at your own risk.
    Clean boot:
Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We strongly recommend that you do not use the System Configuration utility to modify the advanced boot
options on the computer unless a Microsoft support engineer directs you to do this. Doing this may make the computer unusable.
    a.
Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
    b.    Click Start, type
msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
    Continue.
    c.     On the General tab, click
Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The
Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
    d.    On the Services
tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click
    Disable all.
Note Following this step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points.
Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
    e.    Click OK, and then click
    Restart.
Note: Reset the computer to start as usual
After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    a.     Click Start, type
msconfig.exe in theStart Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
    Continue.
    b.
On the General tab, click the
Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
    c.     When you are prompted to restart the computer, click
    Restart.

  • First direct link in google search causes "Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading"

I've disabled both the Adobe Reader Add-on and the Adobe PDF Link Helper to force IE 8 to open PDF's outside of the browser i.e in the stand alone reader application.
After doing this I did some testing, a google search for "test pdf" produces numerous direct links to pdf files.  If i click any of them it causes IE to display the message bar "Internet Explorer blocked this from downloading files to your computer, click her for options.."  When I click on the message bar, it appears to download the file , then nothing happens.  Next time I click the link it opens in the stand alone reader just fine and so do all PDF files, until the browser is restarted or a new tab is started.
This only seems to happen in IE8.  IE9 doesn't have the problem.
If I open a web page that has a link to a PDF that always work.
Help? I can't roll this out to prod.  Users will get very confused...

You actually trashed the whole Internet Preferences Folder including all your preferences still in there?

Or, you can try the following w/your older version of IE:
Once a week Go into the system folder>preferences folder & trash the following preferences:
    finder
    ASLM
    PPC Registration Database
Cache.waf-found inside the MS Internet Cache folder
MRJ Cache folder-a new one will be recreated.(If not found go to System folder>Application Support>MRJ Cache folder-trash all you find inside-(DO NOT TRASH THIS FOLDER)
    Download Cache-found inside Explorer Folder
    Downloads.html-found inside Explorer Folder
    History.html-found inside Explorer Folder
Rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop - may delete Finder comments to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again & empty the trash.

Is there anything here that stands out as being wrong? if so any suggestions/ instructions for what I should do?
p.s. i had to quit Safari while writing this and have a report for this if it helps?

    Hi Linc Davis
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I got this information from a time when I was opening up iPhoto, and then going to the iCloud folder. To be honest it wasn't the most disastrous of events, I did get a few beachballs and when I opened up a shared folder the photos weren't loaded as normal. As I get more lengthy delays in carrying out any activities I will post back the console results.
Just as a bit more info, I don't consider my problem an update to Yosemite problem, if anything since updating performance has been improved from Mavericks.
Do you have any comments about upgrading RAM from the 4GB I have?
Should I act on any of the messages in red from the EtreCheck report?
    Many Thanks
    Duncan
