Poor photo brightness accuracy on Photosmart printers

I had a 3 year old HP photosmart printer that did not accurately reproduce the image I was seeing on my Sony LCD computer screen.  Photos printed much darker than they appeared on my screen or camera viewfinder,  This happens irrespective of the photo editor I use, the HP photo paper I use, the paper setting in the print screen, color management selection in the print screen, or "HP real life" turned on or off.  To get a picture with the correct brightness, I have to increase the photo brightness by 10 to 15 in a photo edit program which begins to wash out the photo on my computer screen.  I print the modified photo and I get a darker version of the wash-out that is about the correct brightness before I used this Rube.  I borrowed a Canon printer from a friend after my old photosmart printer broke and I did not see the problem.  I also do not have the problem if I get my files professionally printed.  I just bought a Photosmart plus B209 a-m printer assuming that the problem was just the old printer but I see the same issue.  Do HP printers use excess black to try to make colors "pop".  Any solution to my problem other than throwing this piece of junk away and buying Canon?

Hi
For the PS Plus b209, try following the doc below

Does this help with the brightness issue?

  • Changing Default Print Quality for Photosmart Printers in Stand Alone mode

Hello Everyone. I am using a group of Photosmart Printers in Stand Alone mode for events where I shoot and print on site. Although I have quite a few printers with me (6 total at a time), I prefer to have the printers print in "Normal" Print Quality Mode, instead of "Best". Images come out twice as fast, and because I have a disciplined shooting technique, I get "GREAT" results from the "Normal" setting. I and/or my assistant have to go to my "Preferences" to change my Print Quality everytime we prepare to print another batch of photos. Sometimes we have groups that will want 5 copies, and it simply takes FOREVER in Best mode, and really, although with a 5x Loupe I can tell the difference, My customers can't with their naked eye. Sometimes we forget to change the setting due to the pressure of the pace sometimes. OOPS!
I am using the following Photosmart Printers: A516, A512v and the 335.
As I stated, I don't use these with a computer, I drive them straight from CF Cards. I do have all the original software, if I need to use the computer to make some changes. Just tell me how. Manual says nothing about getting the setting to default to normal.
Thank you so very much in advance.
    BLAYZE!

    Hello:
One way of assuring high quality would be to export the photo to the desktop (at highest quality) and then print from there.
In my own case, I find that when I occasionally print a photo from iPhoto, the quality is quite good.

  • Is there any way to fix the flash and poor photo quality after iOS 7 upgrade?

    Hi everybody,
Since upgrading to the new iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 ... I have experienced poor photo (grainy) and the flash works when it feels like it... Is there any way
possible to revert back at least on the camera settings or is there a fix that can be downloaded to solve this problem? I take and use my camera a lot on my iphone5 and for me to have this problem it has made me really regret ever upgrading and I  am starting to lose my faith in Apple products. I have searched the entire web and it appears there are a ton of people experiencing this same problem.!!!!

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons..
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • Photosmart printers and OS 10.6

Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for photosmart printers that WORK WELL with snow leopard. I know Apple has a list of drivers that work. Some of the printers i've googled say they work with, for example, OS 10.4 and up, yet they aren't always listed on the Apple page.
Looking for something not too terribly expensive. I want one that prints, scans - fax not necessary, easy to install.
Any suggestions welcome - esp if you have one that you love!

I don't typically recommend "all-in-1" devices as you end up with a so-so printer, a so-so fax and a so-so scanner. Where a dedicated device typically out performs the modular units.
As for HP Photosmart stuff, I would recomend the Brother line instead. I've had great experiences with Brother products and my Mac but not so much with the HP.
Just my personal experience is all (aka my 2 cents).

  • Printing photos from the HP Photosmart 6515- won't pick up the photo paper

I am trying to print photos from my HP Photosmart 6515. I have loaded the photo paper as the videos show, but the printer does not want to pick up the photo paper. I keep getting an error messge that says I am out of paper. If I put regular paper back into the printer, it will print on the regular paper, but not the photo paper. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello jackie4,
I understand you are getting an 'Out of Paper' error when trying to pick up photo paper on your Deskjet 3515. I would like you to go ahead start troubleshooting An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the e-All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper ....
Please let me know if this was successful at resolving the error message, if you require more assistance I would be happy to help.
    Thanks,

  • Poor photo quality when importing to iMovie

I imported some photos to make a slide show with added soundtrack. When I select a photo and click the "Show photo settings" it looks crisp and clear, just as it was shot. As soon as I deselect the "Show photo settings" button it looks blurred, pixeled and fuzzy, just an ultra low quality photo. The end result of the video slide show it's just a low end work.
I just want to burn some DVD's to show my photographic work, but such a poor photo quality it's not going to help me achieve what I had intended.
    Any clues anyone???

I'd like to follow up on your answer re: resolving poor photo quality. It seems the mere act of bringing photos into iMovie degrades the quality. You look at the photo in the preview window and it looks crisp. But then when you "ADD" it to the timeline, it becomes almost fuzzy. Isn't iMovie rendering the photos then and there as you bring them into the timeline? I cannot seem to make the photos look sharper and it doesn't seem to help doing the slideshow first in iPhoto, which I'd rather not do anyway.
    Any suggestions?

  • Aperture won't print from photo tray on HP Photosmart 6520

I've just started having a problem printing 4x6 photos with Aperture.  When I print a borderless 4x6 glossy using the photo tray on my Photosmart it works fine. When I say to print a 4x6 borderless using the photo tray with photo premium paper it prints from the main tray rather than the photo tray.  Plus now it's giving me a picture with borders, even though I specified borderless.  Anyone have this problem?

Sorry, I do not know anything about your Printer. Have you looked, if there is an update for your printer driver, before you start reinstalling Aperture? If yes, upgrade your printer driver first. Also check, if you are having the same problem when printing from a different user account. Maybe some settings in your user accunt or startup items are interfering. You could also check, if printing from iPhoto or Photoshop has the same problem (but don't waste expensive photo paper on these tests ).
What is the Aperture version you are using?
Let me ask this: is there a problem deleting Aperture and reinstalling it?  Will I lose anything?  Thanks.
Your images are stored in the Aperture library/libraries, and your settings in your user library. This should not be affected by reinstalling Aperture. But do not reinstall, without ensuring that your backup is current.
How to reinstall will depend on the Aperture version you are using. This support article describes the procedure - ignore the title of the document - it is written to help with a nasty bug.

  • Printed photos on my HP Photosmart Plus B210 from my iphone a few times, but now it will not respond

Printed photos on my HP Photosmart Plus B210 from my iphone a few times, but now it will not respond.  My phone still recognizes the computer, but nothing happens.

    Hi @maka4868
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are no longer able to print to your Photosmart Plus B210 printer from Microsoft Word.
I am presuming that you are using a Mac Operating System as indicated at the top of your post.  I have done some research and found Microsoft’s document titled Troubleshooting damaged documents in Word for Mac.  It has the steps when printing from Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac.
Please let me know the outcome.

  • Poor photo quality in Photosmart All-in-one B209a

    Hello All,
I purchased a HP Photosmart 8150 printer back in 2005 for the sole purpose of making prints. Recently the thing crapped out to the extent that the repair would cost more than the printer did. It was recommended that we purchase a new printer. We bought the HP Photosmart All-in-one B209a. Most of its use will be printing photo too.
The main issue I am having is in the noticeably poor quality in the prints compared to the 8150. I was shocked since it is advertised as a good photo printer, but I can't believe that in 5 years this the quality has gone down? Can anyone confirm that this is the case: Is it just that the previous 8150 model was a better printer for photos or is there something wrong with the B209a. The quality in the shadows is especially disturbing and true black is never achieved, rather a very grainy shade of grey comes up. I have gone through the Print - Quality Toubleshooting guide online here, but the problem persists.
    Any recommendations?

  • ICC profiles are being uninstalled on my HP photosmart printers using PSE9

I have restored my PC (HP Omni Quad) to factory standards once to correct this problem.  The printers worked twice (HP Photosmart 7960 and 8250) and stopped printing photos,  The message stated that the ICC rofiles had been uninstalled.  I never had this problem with Elements 5.

I found a slolution for such problems to reinstall ICC profile.

  • How to print on photo paper with HP Photosmart 7520 on iphoto '11

    Dear All,
I have a very serious problem. I've tried so many settings and configurations without success.
Very simple. I cannot choose the photo tray in any way and I cannot print on photo paper.
I get everything on A4 format.
The printer is working fine wih other software (e.g. HP studio).
    I can't believe I'm the only one.
    Please help!
    tks ;-)

    Hi,
I came across such issues using AirPrint from Mac OS.. probably an Airprint bug.
Go to Print & Scan and click the plus sign.
From the extended add a printer dialog select the Photosmart 7520.
Open the Use drop-down and select the HP Photosmart 7520 from teh list (Instead the default AirPrint option)
Additionally from the iPhoto print dialog click Print, the OS print dialog will appear.
Set the Paper Source as Photo Tray under the Paper Type/Quality menu.

  • Graded bands on photo prints - HP 7520 Photosmart

    Hi,
I'm experienceing a problem printing photos with my new (less than 1 month old) 7520.  All my photos are printing with perpendicular bands (equivalent to the appearence when printing in draft mode) no matter what settings I choose.
To prevent the usual "go to the troubleshooting page" message, I have:
    1. Used HP Premium plus photo paper
    2. Used genuine HP ink cartridges
    3. Ran a clean cartridges cycle
    4. Ran an align cartridges cycle
    5. Changed all the cartridges
    6. Selected the correct paper size, type and print quality in the print menu.
    7. Ensured the print resolution is high enough
    8. Printed via Wireless, USB connection and USB memorystick directly connected to the printer
Have I just bought a duff printer?
My previous Photosmart 2575 could print high quality prints.  As this is the latest iteration of the photosmart range, what could be wrong?

Hello cliftos2000, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing photo print issues.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

  • I cannot print photos with my 2610 Photosmart All in One. It does all else well, I get a message tha

My Photosmart 2610 All in One works percectly except it wont print photos from my files. The printer is about 6 years old and is no longer supported by HP. I have the original set-up disc. Can I use it by using that set-up disc?

The router has to support Bonjour for airprint to work.  I don't know whether yours does or not - hopefully someone else will be able to say. One frequent suggestion for this problem is to be sure you router has the latest firmware installed.
