Poor Picture- Blacks are Green

I have a Dynex 32" LCD and any black areas or shade of hair have a very noticalbe green tint to them. I have tried to adjust this out in the picture but cannot. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is to keep adjusting or have the TV calibrated, now i dont know how willing you be to do that since the price of it is probably pretty high compared to what you paid for the TV but is an option.

  • ISight : black or green picture

    Hello,
on my mid-2007 20" imac, the integrated iSight doesn't work any more. All I get is a black picture (with iChat) or green picture (with Photo Booth). No error message saying the iSight is already in use. The green light on the right of the camera lights when expected. The iSight is seen in the USB device list. I've tried all the ideas found on this forum and the support section of Apple web site ... I've reset the SMC, unplugged all other USB devices ... still no picture. And obviously, it worked in the past, I have succesfully used it for a few iChat sessions.
I'm not quite sure it's a hardware problem, and fell a kind of bug due to some recent OS revision (10.4.10). Anyone having this felling ?
    Regards,
    Philippe.

    Hello Philippe
Here are the solutions that help most iNtel Mac users who encounter black or green-screen problems. None are complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to continue down the list until you find the one that fixes your Mac.
    (1) Check your System Preferences as explained in this kbase article about Built-in iSight camera produces blue or green pictures.
    (2) Aluminum iMac users who have not yet applied the iMac Software Update 1.1 should repair permissions (click here if you need help with permissions repair), apply the iMac 1.1 update, and repair permissions again. Then check to see if your iSight works correctly.
    (3) If your software is up to date and your System Preferences are set correctly, try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article.
Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
If you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting, see this Help article.
    (4) If resetting or the other suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions.
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (5) Some iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight. If none of the suggestions above corrects your problem, you might try disconnecting EVERYTHING, including power and peripherals, from your iMac for a while to see if that helps. However, nobody has yet reported that disconnecting helps anything but the laptop iNtel Macs.
    (6) If none of these suggestions help, contact your retailer, Apple, or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for professional repair.

    Hi there Doug,
It sounds like you've enabled the High-Contrast Color option under Edit > Preferences > Accessibility (Win) or Acrobat > Preferences > Accessibility (Mac). Uncheck the 'Replace Document Colors' checkbox, then hit 'OK' to turn this off.

  • Making pictures that are black and white but still have color someplace(s)

Is there a way in aperture to make pictures black and white but still leave color on some objects. for example, having a picture of someone holding a glass of red wine and having everything except the wine black and white?

A couple of ways this can be done
    - non destructively:
Use the Color adjustment to reduce the saturation of all the colors you dont want,
and leave only the saturation of the saturation of the color you do want.
Use the Ranges to more selectively choose the right color you want to leave.
    - destructively:
Use the Dodge&Burn plug-in from Apple.
Set the brush to Desaturate, choose its strength and size appropriately.
Then just desaturate all the area's that need to be desaturated.

  • Flickering green in black areas of screen

I have a flickering green in the black areas of my monitor.  As if the Enhance contrast is set above Normal in Applications System Preferences Universal Access.  Though the slider is still set down at Normal.

It does sound like the XT1900 is to blame. What you see is DVI noise. If you search this forum, you will see that it has been a common problem. If the MacPro is under warranty, then I would ask Apple for a replacement.

Any clues as to why this is happening? I suspect it's a codec issue of some sort

FC 6 supports 29.97 & 25 IMX frame rates but a third party plug-in is required:

    This plug-in costs $100

This software is cheaper at $30 and will let you test drive it for free

Which model do you have? If a mid-2010 15", there are known problems with the GPU and the logic board will be replaced free.

The Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro problems are related to kernel panics, so the GPU is still working. In the case of the OP, the GPU has stopped working completely, so his/her problem doesn't belong to the kernel panic problem, so the OP may have to pay. I may be wrong.
Also, the 10.8.4 update won't help as this is a hardware problem, but it's always good to keep OS X updated

  • My picture blacks out when adding text or selecting an area.

When I try to add text the picture blacks out.  I can't see anything and have to type blind.  When I am done, everything comes back and the words are there, but every time I click in the word box to change anything the picture will black out.
I also have a problem when doing a large selection area - as I outline the item I want to select the picture will blink in and out.
Thank you for any help you cna provide

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

  • Black areas are showing up as green

Since I upgraded to Firefox V:8 some of the images show the black areas (background, shadows, and the like) as a bright green. If I change to the IE engine, the problem goes away. I've messed with disabling the add-ons, without any repeatable fix. Sometimes, disabling one of them will fix the problem, until the next day, when things are messed again(?).
The problem seems to link to JPEG images, but I am not going to guarantee that just yet.
http://ashleymichelew.blogspot.com/ is one place I've seen the problem.

That can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.<br />
You can disable color management to test that.<br />
You can set the pref gfx.color_management.mode to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

  • Changing colour of the bears from black to green

Hi! I am trying to change the colour of the bears in my image from black to green. Tried the method of using the magic wand to select all the similar black pixels to change to blue. However, the magic wand does not pick up all the pixels. Is there a better way to do this? Appreciate advice. Thanks!
    http://img240.imageshack.us/my.php?image=72dpibearsrx5.jpg

    Another way:
    1. Use the Magic Wand to select the background color. For my example below I used the default Tolerance value 32. I also unchecked the Contiguous box, so that the tiny piece of background at the bottom between Mama and baby is also selected.
    2. Invert the selection so that the bears are now selected.
    3. Set Foreground color to green.
    4. Edit>Fill.
Choose options Foreground Color, Mode = Color, Opacity 100%
    5. [optional] With the bears still selected add a Hue/Saturation layer. This will allow you to go back later to change the bears' lightness and color.

  • How can I turn a picture black and white and keep some objects in color?

I have seen some pictures that are black and white, and a few objects (flowers, dresses, hair bows, etc) were in their original color. I was told you could do it with Photoshop, but I cannot figure out how. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest way to do this (and there are lots of ways) is to create a hue/saturation adjustment layer above your base image. In the dialogue box, push the saturation slider all the way to the left. This will make what you see monochrome. Now select a brush and click on the layer mask next to the layer you just created. When you paint on the mask in black, you will block the desaturation effect of the layer and reveal the original color on the layer below. Paint in white to reverse this effect.

  • When I load my print projects to Acrobat and print from Acrobat, my blacks turn green.  WHY!!??!

Sometimes I have to color match at work, or just adjust images in Photoshop CS4.  I save as a Adobe PDF, and load it into Acrobat Pro.
I do not flatten or convert to PDF 1a, just print from Acrobat.  When I print, my blacks in the print are green.  WHY??

Thanks Sig. The information is here: Anything useful stand out?

My new Ipad camera takes poor picture quality compare to my iphone 4g. Is it should be so?

    Hi pjl,
Yes I forgot to mention, the iPad does lose the tether when it sleeps, so I turned sleep off permanently which is probably not great for battery life either!
I just don't understand why another iPhone4 can connect to the personal hotspot with absolutely no intervention once it knows the password. That's how it should be on the iPad. They are both running the latest iOS5 so why any difference?
