Poor Print Quality on Epson 875DC

Hello - Several months ago, I moved from an older MacG3 running os9 to a new iMacg5 running os 10.3.
I have an Epson stylus 875dc Photo inkjet printer. I was always very pleased with the quality of my printed photos and other work from the 875dc. I used Macromedia freehand with linked photos, Adobe photoshop for printing photos.
Now, I try to print from iPhoto or Adobe Photo elements and my pictures look like dookey. The colors are not great, the resolution is not great and worst of all, if I try to print at higher resolution, I get all these horizontal lines through the picture and in the margin of the pictures.
I have tried to get some help from Epson - they have had me print a test page, etc. which was fine... so they say it's the computer or the software.
I am very frustrated and hate the thought of throwing out a perfectly good printer. Can anyone help me into the right direction?

Did you check for a blocked head? Also, in PE/PS, having a resolution ppi that's not a whole number can cause lines on prints. In other words, 247 ppi is fine, but if you see 247.384 when you go to Image>Resize>Resize Image, you may have problems.

  • Poor print quality with Epson Photo R265 - Please help

I am changing over from Windows to Mac and finding it 'challenging' - it's me; not the mac (which I love)I'm sure, so any help would be much appreciated.
My problem is: when I plugged my usb into the mac it instantly recognised my printer but when I printed a photo from iPhoto the quality was very poor with faded colours and faint lines.
I went hunting for an answer, and convinced I'd found it, I downloaded the latest drivers from Epson but on reprinting...exactly the same problems.
The on-screen quality is superb but on paper it's poor.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions or help. I'm not at all knowledgeable when it comes to computers.
    thank you
    Caroline

Both programs print very poorly. Either light and faded or streaker, or if I change the settings, very dark. Both useless. Frustrated I tried the same pics on Picassa on my Windows notebook. Quality was excellent. Put Picassa on the iMac and it now works great - in Picassa. how can that be?

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • HP LaserJet 2600n poor print quality/streaking

I am the original owner of an HP LJ 2600n with a poor print quality/streaking issue. The poor print quality occurs with any and all paper that I use (currently Hammerhill 20# stock) and occurred with Windows XP and Windows 7. The print cartidges are all genuine HP and changing them does not make any difference. I have cleaned the front door roller with no improvement.  My firmware version is 20070716. The black cartridge is at 33%; yellow 75%; cyan 91% and magenta 91%...
Any advice would be appreciated. An example of the output is attached below:

    Hi everyone,
I have resolved my problem. I took a leap and purchased a new toner cartridge, and the new catridge works great. Installed it yesterday and the test page comes out clean, clear and with no double image. I'm happy.
Apparently the printer had not had a print item sent to it in over a year. I think that was actually hard on the toner cartridge.
Tthanks to everyone for their help via private emails!

  • L7780 poor print quality after not using for 6 months

Poor print quality after not using my printer for about 6 months.  Ran thru the tools (clean printhead, aligh, etc  . . .) didn't help. Replaced all chartridges, still no help.
I'm fairly tech savy, been in IT for 27 years starting with hardware support.
Question,  can I manually clean the printheads or should I just replace. I would rather try to clean them manually after just shelling out > $ 170 on new chartridges.
    thanks
    Brent

    Hi @Brentl
Yes, you can clean the printhead and the inside of the printer. The following document will help; 'The Following Printheads are Missing or Damaged, Replace the Printhead' Message Displays on the All....
    I hope this helps.

  • Poor print quality through photoshop CS 6 using HP 7520

Hi Im having poor print quality (muddy) dense, I might not have the proper color management or printer profile loaded on the HP 7520. using Windows 7 (64) bit.
    Thanks
    Bill

Well, I guess it is all about the paper.
I started using Premium Ink Jet paper which cleaned up the printing a great deal. Standard quality settings now produce just faint imperfections but higher quality settings eliminate them entirely.
One of those "you get what you pay for" issues I guess.

  • C4180 poor print quality

I've had my c4180 for a couple of years without any problems but the image print quality is now starting to deteriorate. When printing images on normal paper I usually print at maximum dpi but the quality is quite poor with white lines across the images. I've tried cleaning the print cartridges many times but it makes no difference. I've taken out the colour cartridge and given it a clean as recommended but still no improvement. There is just under half of the colour ink left so it's not because I'm running low either.
It's looking like I will need to buy a new printer which I really didn't want to have to do as it works perfectly apart from this.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks in advance.

    43,
Ink has a limited life span.  It is sad, I know.  The ink in the printer may just be "old" beyond it's actual age.
I have an old J6480 that I use only occasionally -- it is such a good printer that I keep it in spite of the fact that I might have to change out the cartridges more frequently than when the unit actually runs out of ink.
You might change out the cartridges so you are not coating the insides of the printer with the old ink.
If you are not going to use the printer very often, it does seem to help to keep it stored in a cabinet: dark and enclosed where there is not an abundance of light, dust, dampness, or temperature differences.  I keep the J6480 in a cabinet on the other side of the house and use it wirelessly about every six months.
You may have to re-run the cleaning operation a couple of times after you do change the ink; change out the cartridges, test, and then decide.

It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

  • CP1025nw, repeptetive smudges, poor print quality, pushing toner button does nothing.

I haven't used this printer in a couple of years, so I sense some of my issues might be related to that.  First up, the print quality is quite poor. Despite having a new black toner cartridge, the B&W printing isn't very strong; it's blotchy in some areas with random spots in others. Second, there are repeating color splotches all over the place. I've attached a photo. Third, pressing any of the toner buttons does nothing, no beeps, blinks, or movement. So far, the only things I've tried was toreplace the black toner cartridge and blow out the interior of the machine with compress air. I also removed the drum and gave that a quick and careful cleaning.. Any thoughts?

  • Brother HL-3170CDW won't print in color, has poor print quality. I have downloaded drivers, and firmware from Brother with no success.

Just received this printer, and am unable to have any success with it printing in color. I have downloaded drivers, and firmware from Brother that are for OSX 10.9. Also, the print quality is quite poor. Any suggestions what I should be looking for to resolve this? I feel like I am back in the 90's with Windows 3.1!

You need to go to the brother website and download the driver for your printer. I had the same problem, and resolved it just now. The driver for this particular printer is not a good match for any of the preinstalled printer drivers on os x.

  • Poor Print Quality with Switch to Mac

I have just replaced a Windows PC with a MacBook Pro (running OSX Yosemite, Retina screen, Lightroom 5.6 & Photoshop Elements 11 installed).  Printer is an Epson Stylus PX720WD. All latest firmware, drivers etc installed.
Problem is that the print quality using LR & PSE on the Mac is dreadful. The image looks way underexposed and there are blank white edges to dark objects against a light background.
Printing the same image on my wife's Windows PC (running PSE11) and using the same Epson gives perfect print quality.
The difference is evidently Mac vs Windows.  (same image, same program, same printer)
On Mac (in the LR or PSE print menu), there are few options for paper type, print quality (DPI) etc.  (In LR I only see the option to toggle '240 ppp' on or off)
Whereas in Windows I get multiple options for paper type and print resolution (up to 720 dpi).
Ultimately, my processing workflow is LR on Mac, and I want to get them playing nice with the printing (rather than being obliged to export my finished images to another Window PC for printing).
Any help or suggestions on how to resolve are very much appreciated

All adjustments to arrive at the final image (to be printed) are on the Mac with LR.
With LR I have tried both 'Managed by Printer' and 'Adobe RGB'  (in the 'Colour Management' section.  If I select 'Others' (Instead of the default Managed by Printer) I get a long list of options : Adobe RGB, Display, and a long list of various Nikon & Epson alternatives. So far I have only tried the Adobe RGB and it was actually worse).
In PSE I leave it as Managed by Printer.  But get the very different menu options in Mac vs Win (strange!).
The monitor on the Win PC is low quality but the image looks ok (tone, colour).  And the printed image looks perfect - exactly as it was finished on the Mac.

  • Poor print quality for black ink for Photosmart 6520e

Having a problem with black printing.  Using all HP cartridges, but when I run a test page, I get white, horizontal bars across the black test bars.  Some of them are 1/4 inch wide.  Replaced the cartridge and did the automatic printhead cleaning, but no improvement.  I know the printhead is not removeable, what is the next step?

    Hi @Mikenstlouis,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues with the black ink on your HP Photosmart 6520.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. I highly recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836, I trust they will be able to assist you regardless of the warranty status. • Dell 3130cn Poor Printing Quality

The print quality on my Dell 3130cn  has recently gone downhill.  It's missing print and the print that does make it to the paper is very light.  I've changed out the toner cartridges but that didn't and honestly, I didn't expect it to help.  Does this mean it's time for a new fuser?

Horizontal lines? Make sure you have the right print settings and paper settings on your printer.
That sounds a LOT like you have the paper type set to plain paper, or have it set to draft mode, or something.

  • HP6600 Poor Print Quality

    Hi,
I am contiinually having to run the Printhead Clean feature before I can print with my Officejet 6600. Once the cleaning is completed, the print quality is fine. Prior to running the cleaner the printing is smudged, blurred or missing, and is often only black (i.e. no colours).
The printer is about 6 months old and has had this problem from day 1 ( I know, i'm lazy). I seem to be consuming almost all of my ink just getting the printheads clean.
According to the HP tool, the printheads are ok. The cartridges don't seem to have a vent in them, is this correct?
    I'd appreciate any suggestions, please?
    Rob.

    Hello @Crossy,
Generally you want to update the Firmware via a USB Cable connection as it is a direct connection. You don't want any interference when you run a Firmware Update as it reprograms the printer. If the programming update is interfered with in any way than you're pretty much left with an expensive paper weight.
In your specific case, because your printer is currently running version MIM2CN1435AR than that is the latest version. The Firmware Update tool will not allow you to resend the firmware.
The last step now would be to contact our Australian support team at: 1300 721 147

  • Recent poor print quality on C5580

I have had my C5580 for a year or so with no problems. Three days ago the print quality decreased dramatically with all the photos looking very grainy and pixely. I have replaced the ink cartridged, check the print quality which defaults to "best", and even check the camera to find out if I accidentally altered the photo quality. I am at a loss as to what happened. Any help?
