Poor printing results

Pesky problem: prints too dark and colors lack saturation.
Have been printing on an Epson Artisan 50 with good results. Have added a new R2880. Both print with the same poor results NOW.
Use OS Mavericks, a 2-year-old iMac calibrated with Color Munki, custom ICC profiles for both printers, and PS 2014. Workroom is fairly dark with medium tan walls and 2 ‘Ott’ lights behind monitor.
Have made the following adjustments to see if I can find a solution:
•   With monitor have tried luminance of 80 and 120.
•   With monitor have tried white points of 55 and 65.
•   Have let PS and printer handle color.
•   Have converted color space from ProPhoto to sRGB and back again.
•   Have used 2 different packs of Epson Luster- both new.
I do view prints under the daylight corrected Ott lights and I take them outside in the sunlight to see if they're dark. And they still are! Wondering if somewhere I’m making a simple rookie mistake? I’ve followed both J. Schewe’s and the Digital Dog’s instructions as best I know how. How do you check that the driver settings are correctly configured? How do you check the output profile setting?
Any help is much appreciated.
Richard

Aperture really wants to manage colour during printing.
One common problem seems to be having your printer (driver) set to colour management, and then Aperture doing it as well. (This is probably not the only problem...)
One of the O'Reilly Inside Aperture Podcasts, with Joe Schorr, covers this very issue.

new B209a has poor printing on every third line. Prints pictures ok .Have all new ink and ran alingment and print head cleaning

Sorry that you are having a problem printing documents. Try to print a self test page or printer status report from the printer itself, and see if you get the same results.
Also try to make a copy of a document, and see if the poor printing continues.
Have you MANUALLY cleaned the print head? If you can take the print head out, clean with lint free cloth and water.

  • HP LaserJet 2600n poor print quality/streaking

I am the original owner of an HP LJ 2600n with a poor print quality/streaking issue. The poor print quality occurs with any and all paper that I use (currently Hammerhill 20# stock) and occurred with Windows XP and Windows 7. The print cartidges are all genuine HP and changing them does not make any difference. I have cleaned the front door roller with no improvement.  My firmware version is 20070716. The black cartridge is at 33%; yellow 75%; cyan 91% and magenta 91%...
Any advice would be appreciated. An example of the output is attached below:

    Hi everyone,
I have resolved my problem. I took a leap and purchased a new toner cartridge, and the new catridge works great. Installed it yesterday and the test page comes out clean, clear and with no double image. I'm happy.
Apparently the printer had not had a print item sent to it in over a year. I think that was actually hard on the toner cartridge.
Tthanks to everyone for their help via private emails!

  • 6i character mode report migrate to 11g , printing result were incorrect in the same matrix printer?

    Hi All
We got stuck when our 6i character mode report migrate to 11g.
We use the same PC to test,  when run 6i report(character mode with 200 column) in legacy system, report result were correct in our matrix printer ,
When running in 11g, if we directly print report via report builder (without preview), result were correct.
But running report via preview/screen mode, printing result were incorrect ( not 200 column width).
We try to adjust PC's printer/paper setting , but our-defined printing option never appeared in printer dialog.
Is anything(config or some setting) we forgot to do in this situation ?
Thanks for all your patient response!

  • L7780 poor print quality after not using for 6 months

Poor print quality after not using my printer for about 6 months.  Ran thru the tools (clean printhead, aligh, etc  . . .) didn't help. Replaced all chartridges, still no help.
I'm fairly tech savy, been in IT for 27 years starting with hardware support.
Question,  can I manually clean the printheads or should I just replace. I would rather try to clean them manually after just shelling out > $ 170 on new chartridges.
    thanks
    Brent

    Hi @Brentl
Yes, you can clean the printhead and the inside of the printer. The following document will help; 'The Following Printheads are Missing or Damaged, Replace the Printhead' Message Displays on the All....
    I hope this helps.

  • Poor print quality through photoshop CS 6 using HP 7520

Hi Im having poor print quality (muddy) dense, I might not have the proper color management or printer profile loaded on the HP 7520. using Windows 7 (64) bit.
    Thanks
    Bill

Well, I guess it is all about the paper.
I started using Premium Ink Jet paper which cleaned up the printing a great deal. Standard quality settings now produce just faint imperfections but higher quality settings eliminate them entirely.
One of those "you get what you pay for" issues I guess.

  • Print Results form assignment in QA33

    Hi,
When we click print results for a inspection lot from QA33, the pop-up window displays a default form QM_INSP_RESULT.
I want to know where this form is assigned.
    thanks and regards
    Murugesan

    Hi Murugesan,
This form is SAP standard form you can see this form in SE71 T-Code.
For printing result of inspection lot (QA33), just give this form name in the field 'form' under print parameters tab and execute it will ask for output device.Enter device name and print.

  • Why my numbers printing result always a blank page? Need help :(

Friends, I really need fast response.
Every time I tried to print my Numbers file (contained 3 tables in 1 sheet), the printing result always blank page.
    And there's this notification:
Error Number : 306 A communication error has occurred. Make sure that the printer is plugged in, powered-on, and properly connected to your computer. Then try printing again.
    I'm using Canon iP100.
Everything's normal when I print my emails or pages file.
    Thanks much before

Maybe the brute force treatment is not required.
    One may try:
    export as XL file
    import the XL file
it may clean the annoying oddity.
    Other scheme:
    export as CSV
    import the CSV file.
It's more severe that the 1st one but it's less than dropping the file

  • Most accurate print results in Photoshop???

Hello all, I typically work in Illustrator whenever I need to do some print work but decided to use Photoshop this time around as I was going for more realism.
I have used some effects(linear burn, overlay, screen etc...) but tried to respect the print colors as much as possible.
Could someone please tell me how I should now save/export the image for the most accurate print results?
Do I simply flatten image and then change color mode to CMYK?
    Any help appreciated!

Image > Mode > CMYK would use the settings and target space as defined under Edit > Color Settings.
These may not fit the actual printing needs, so if the image is indeed going to be printed (offset or other process) better ask the printer which ICC-profile they recommend in this case.
    Edit:
Could someone please tell me how I should now save/export the image for the most accurate print results?
Saving a pdf As a Copy from Photoshop can be used to create a file that maintains Vector Masks and type as vector data (not Vector Smart Objects, though, mind you).

  • Poor printing java 1.5

    Hi,
I have a problem with printing on java 1.5 on XP. Everything was fine on 1.42, but now the printing stops after a few pages and the text looks poor. There is no error message when the printing stops early.
My swing application has several tabbed panes each of which is added to a Book. Each tab is scaled to fit on the page and is printed on a separate page. Each page will print separately but the text still looks bad. Even removing the scaling doesnt help the text.
I disable the double buffering before printing.
I have tried a few different printers and also changing heap sizes Xmx to 1g but get the same results.
Any ideas on how I can resolve theses problems?
    Thanks

    Hi Phil,
thanks for the reply , i have tried your suggestion but got some mixed results.
Using jre1.5.0_09, the text looks a bit better but still not as good 1.42. The number of paint calls is down to 35. I have noticed some random crashes whn trying to print a book of 12 pages or the printing stops after a few pages. A couple of times it printed the whole book.
Here is the error log from 1 of the crashes

  • Why does Acrobot Pro no longer deliver correctly PDF printed results under Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 ?

    Hello!
When printing with Panther (Mac 10.3.9), my PDF printouts were always correct. Now, under Mac operating systems 10.4 and 10.5 the printouts from the ink jet printer are unusable – they are by at least 15% too dark, dark areas are slurred and oversaturated (all data RGB, CMYK)
    - when compared to the print preview in Acrobat, InDesign or Photoshop
    - compared to soft proof resp. print preview representing the ICC paper profile
    - compared to the output from Photoshop, i.e. by opening the PDF file in PS to be printed under the same parameters
    - compared to the PDF files which were printed under MAC 10.3.9  which are in line with the view on the screen and the printout made from the PDF opened under Photoshop
    - i.e. Under Panther printout work, as generally under Photoshop – even under 10.4 and 10.5. According to my information, it also works under Windows XP.
The problem I am talking about occurs under an RGB print workflow with mixed data, RGB and CMYK, converted into the ICC output content or embedded profiles, self-created PDF files or official test charts.
It does not make any difference where PDFs came from (InDesign-Export CS2/3 or Postscript / Distiller) or which output profile or paper was used. The problem started once I had installed 10.4 on my G4 (Acrobat 7). The same under Acrobat 8 and 9 as well as under the Intel-Mac and Acrobat 9.
The only solution I have at the moment is an external bootable hard disk operative under Panther OS to generate correct PDF printouts now.
    Thank you for your help,
    Peter!

First try downloading the latest Driver for your printer.
then go to printer Utilityand delete the current listing for your printer. Quit Printer Utility
next install new Driver downloaded from Manufacturer
finally go back to Printer Utility and add the print Driver for your Printer.
    Now open Acrobat.
choose a Document that you have been trying to print causing issues
print one or two pages of the document, choose pages that seem to cause the most problem.
    check results.
if still an issue try the following:
adjust the items in one of these windows:

  • Poor printing quality in InDesign CS4

    Hello,
In InDesign CS4, I've made a single-page print (page coverd with one photo).
This photo is a high-resolution image (300 ppi) and is linked with the document. (checked with preflight).
The print is made on a Xerox Phaser 7760. The result isn't sharp at all. I've printes the same picture started in PhotoShop with a fine result and a print from an HiRes-pdf of the same page. The result was ok as well. The page and the picture weren't colormanaged. I kept the outputprofile, linked at the original file (US Web coated). The files were printedd on a heavy card stock (uncoated). Any idea what went wrong?

Could be a couple of things.
You say the image is 300 ppi. At what size? The number that counts is effective resolution, or the resolution at the scaled dimensions, the ones you use to print. You 'll find effective ppi listed in the info or links panels.
Second, the default sending for image data when printing from InDesign is "optimized supbsampling" which is usually not that good. Chnage to "all" and see if that helps.
