Poor Quality Anti-aliasing On Text In Imported Illustrator Files

I have a number of titles created in Illustrator at the same dimensions as my Premiere project - 1920 x 1080.
When imported into Premiere Pro CC (OSX), they display and render poorly, with clearly jagged edges (not the ends of the crossbar on the T and the bowl of the Us for example:
Screenshots with source at 100%:

Premiere
This is effectively unusable, so how can I improve this poor rendering? Note: This is visible even when rendered to ProRes4444.

Hi 1ndivisible,
Hmm, that's odd. My type is looking pretty decent out of Illustrator. Can you try a different font or the same font in a new sequence?
Thanks,
Kevin

  • How to import Illustrator files in DW?

    Hi there,
How do you import Illustrator file as a background image in
DW. I've tried Save for web in Illustrator, but the DW is not
recognising the files. I saved as .svg in Illustrator, and yet
    again no joy with DW.
    Many thanks

You would have to save the image as a JPG or GIF image and
    then you can
place it in DW, using CSS.

  • How do I prevent imported Illustrator files from have the jaggies in Flash.

My imported illustrator files have straight angled pipe lines and these have the jaggies when exported from Flash to Premiere or QT.
I have imported them as both vector and bitmap with no success.  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.  I'm on a Mac running 10.8.2 and using Flash CS5.5.

  • Cannot import Illustrator files - crash to desktop

    Hello:
I've been experimenting with the Catalyst beta at work, but it seems I cannot import Illustrator files (yet phototshop files are fine). What happens is the following:
    1) Click "From Adobe Illustrator AI File..." link on the start screen.
    2) Choose an AI file in the file selector (I used the one found at http://www.insideria.com/2009/06/flash-catalyst-beta-1-top-bran.html)
    3) Catalyst begins the process and shows a progress bar, but then immediately crashes to desktop without warning.
I've tried several other AI files, but the results are the same. Is anyone else having this problem?
System specs (if it matters) are:
    Windows XP SP2
    Professional x64 Edition
    Intel core 2 Duo
    2.33GHz, 3.93 GB of RAM

Ok, this is going to sound strange, but here's what happened:
    1) I went to the Catalyst directory to retrieve the log file you mentioned. It seems I had generated about nineteen or so of these logs. I've gone ahead and attached them to this post.
    2) I deleted all of these logs out of my Catalyst directory.
    3) I went back and performed the above steps, and it worked! I even tried another AI file, and it imported successfully.
The only thing that has changed since yesterday is the fact that I deleted these logs. I'm baffled...

  • Preview - anti aliasing and text in scanned pdf

    hello all,
i have an issue with preview not anti aliasing text in pdf files.  to elaborate, take a pdf with text which is selectable and it appears jagged, not anti aliased as in pdfs with text which is treated as an image, i.e. not selectable.
also, sometimes, when scrolling through pages in full screen, the following page has the text anti-aliased as the scroll animation is taking place, i.e. while the previous page is being moved away through the gesture, but once the previous page has disappeared and the new page 'settled in' the smoothing is gone.
smooth text and line art is checked, as is lcd smoothing in general preferences.
    any suggestion are much appreciated.

  • Anti-aliased HTML text in Webkit browser?

    Hi all,
I'm working with the webkit browser in an AIR project and running into a big hurdle. The fonts displayed in my webkit HTML are blocky and jaggy due to AIR not supporting -webkit-font-smoothing or text-rendering, and this is making my really great AIR app look a bit shoddy.
I was just wondering if anyone out there might have some sort of solution (or hack) that would resolve this issue and improve the appearance of the HTML text. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Steven.

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for your reply. I'm using Flash CS6 targetting Air 3.4 for Desktop (on Win7). I tried switching my app to using StageWebView as suggested but it yields the same results, and so am a bit stumped as to what to do. I've checked my html css to make sure the correct font styling is in place and it appears smooth and anti-aliased in Chrome and IE (but not Firefox), so I'm not entirely sure what to do now.
I'm not too big into Webkit but is there anything in particular I should look out for with my machine?
    Thanks again,
    Steven.

  • FR: Constant rasterization of titles and imported Illustrator files?

The option to constantly rasterize Illustrator files in AE is great (titles always constantly rasterize in AE).  Would it be possible to have this option in Premiere?
For example, I create a title.  In the ECW, I animate the size of the title from 100% to 200%, but it gets blurry.  It would be nice if the text could remain crisp, just like it does in AE.  Ditto for resized Illustrator files.
Does anyone have any insight into why Premiere doesn't or perhaps even can't have this?  If it's possible, it sure would be nice to have, along with the ability to scale assets to any size, beyond the current 600% limit, which AE doesn't have of course.
    Thanks!

Here's my official FR for others to use as reference or copy/paste and send to Adobe:
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature: Constant Rasterization of Titles and Imported Illustrator/Vector files
How would you like the feature to work?
Titles and imported Illustrator/vector files should remain crisp when sized above 100% the same way they do in After Effects when constant rasterization is turned on.
Why is this feature important to you?
Crisp titles and graphics look good.  Pixelated soft mushiness does not.  Allowing text and vector artwork to look good at any scale only makes sense, and would save users from having to resort to AE/Illustrator to solve this shortcoming in Premiere (or put up with soft graphics when AE/Illustrator aren't available).

  • Is there any way I can import Illustrator files in Photoshop touch?

I have downloaded PS touch to my tablet to manage images on the go, how ever al my work is done on illustrator and I heven't been able to import files from it, it appears it's only functunional with images. i was wondering if there is any plug-in that could allow me to import ai. files. thanks you all

PS Touch only works with raster images (like PNG or JPEG as well as its own native PSDX and PSD). No AI file support that I know of is in the pipeline. Could change, though.

  • Applying a swatch to imported illustrator file (link)

    Hi All,
I'm quite new to InDesign and I just want to query the below...
I've imported an illustrator file, which I have several instances of on the document, and have applied a colour swatch. InDesign is displaying the colour so that it fills the entire bounding box of each instance.
Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks v much.

Some don't like this, but I have NEVER had an issue with it.... In certain situations ... where you may be editing each graphic differently and you do not need to "link" your graphic, you can copy and paste the AI file into ID.  (ie: it is not a logo that may change and you have a lot of relinking updates across multiple files) Like I said, I have never had an issue and have had some very complicated files to copy and place. Others having a one color square claim to have had issues. Perhaps it is an option for you. That function is there for a reason, and it is not so everyone can tell you not to try it.

  • Importing Illustrator File to Photoshop

Sorry, this question may be to vague to answer, but I have a problem with a file I created in Illustrator. When "placing" the file it gets imported extremely pixelated and corrupt. I know it's not the software, because other files I "place" into Photoshop from Illustrator look great -- files that were developed by other professionals.
I admit to being a bit of a novice in Illustrator and I'm thinking it's the way I set up the file, but I can't find any differences in the two files I have placed -- one being the file developed by another designer and the one I developed.
Sorry for this vague question, but does it bring any solutions to mind?
    Thanks, Jim

    Hi,
You're not suppose to "place" the ai file in Photoshop.
Instead you can save your logo in illustrator as a new PSD or PDF file, even you can open your illustrator file in photoshop directly.
    Wish this helps.

  • Colors of imported illustrator files don't match indesign colors

I'll be honest: I'm likely missing something really basic. This is really frustrating, though.
The simple version: when I drag an Illustrator file into my InDesign document, its colors don't match the colors of shapes in the InDesign document drawn with the same color values.
    The long version:
I'm working on a resume document. I've created a logo in Illustrator - the document is in CMYK color mode and uses SWOP v2 color space. I've dragged the file into InDesign, where I have some basic geometric shapes that intersect the logo. The InDesign document is also set to CMYK and is using the SWOP v2 color space. I've noticed, however, that the colors of my logo (which, again, was imported from Illustrator) do not match the colors of shapes drawn natively in InDesign even when their hexadecimal color values are identical. To further this point. I created a shape in InDesign with color #86c8cf. I then copied the value #86c8cf into Illustrator and drew a shape using that color. I imported that Illustrator shape into InDesign and placed the Illustrator Shape and the native InDesign shapes side by side. I even exported to PDF and pulled it up in preview to proof it. The colors, while very similar, are NOT the same color.
Am I missing something really obvious? Or are these two programs not at all working together like they're always said to do so well?

Dunno why. Which versions of ID/AI? Not that it should matter, I get the same results with CS6 and CC2014.
One square in ID is native, the other from a placed AI file--though drag and drop are the same results.
    Acrobat, hovering over one square...
    And over the other square...
I used your hex values in Illy, used Illy's CMYK values in ID.

  • Best way to import illustrator files into motion

Whats the best way to import titles created in Illustrator into Motion5?
Thanks in advanced for any help.

Exporting as PDFs and importing into Motion is great. However, if your illustration is a grouping of paths intended for animation (e.g. a face with lips and eyes that you'd like to animate independently) then the PDF method can become fairly tedious.
Unfortunately Motion doesn't support Adobe Illustrator's compound path type. Coming from Adobe AfterEffects I was fairly disappointed in this since much of what I did in AfterEffects required animation of my compound path vector art. However, compound paths can be simulated using masks in Motion fairly easily and although this method has limitations it works very well.
Using Adobe's API I've written a free plugin for Illustrator called "Motionize" which allows an Illustrator user to select a shape in their Illustrator file and export it to a single Motion shape file. It supports simple shapes, lines, groups and compound paths as well. There is a sample file included to get you started and I would appreciate any feedback via my site as to how it can be improved.
It currently supports only one selected item at a time and does not support gradients though I am working on these issues. I hope it helps! I use this too so it's something under constant development.

  • Why does flash add so many points to an imported illustrator file?

this has been a long time question, why, when you bring illustrator artwork into flash does it add so many unecessary control points to the object? something as simple as a circle with 4 happy control points in illustrator suddenly becomes a 20 control point circle when brought into flash. it has been this way forever and i know that there is no setting to change this, i just wondered why this happens cause it has always been frustrating to me. and do you think they will ever be able to make it not do this?

You import the Illustrator file, not a Windows Meta File? This has happened to me with the metafiles. But I use the simplify path tools, and also, when possible draw within Flash
