Poor quality exported pictures on any format

i've an issue when exporting my 10 mp jpg to any format (this is not a jpg export issue, exporting to dng and tiff is bad too...)
when exporting any pics taken with my canon g7, the result is strange. There is an echo on each picture (this issue is present with or without tweaking the picture).i always export and reduce pictures to 800x600 max. I think it is a lightroom issue because exporting the same picture with psp 4.12(!) don't do this, but looks less sharpen. Is there an optimisation always "on" with lightroom exporting module?
I'm very disapointed about this issue. I'm still using psp to export my pics...

what's wrong with LR?

I also believe it's the firmware.
I've had my N95 for little over a week, and I've taken about 100 pictures of my car with it (crazy paint so trying to capture the true effect is hard). It came with version 10.xx.xx of the firmware
Of these 100 or so (108 to be precise) which seemed picture perfect (no pun intended) on the screen, approximately 80 of them were either overexposed or out of focus, despite predominantly having green brackets.
I've just updated my firmware to version 12.xx.xx and initial results seem very positive, the camera seems much more effective and focussing seems much better after 5 quick snaps.
Another thing to bear in mind, which I've read quite a lot of times (not only here I hasten to add), that updating the firmware doesn't work the first time, and people have had to reinstall it several times before getting the desired operation.
I was reluctant to update mine as it was locked to orange, but the phone was becoming increasingly "crashy" with resets being needed 3 or 4 times a day, calls being dropped and the phone crashing mid-call, and various lock ups when navigating the menu systems. I decided that I'd rather risk a potential nulling of the warranty and have a phone that worked better and so unlocked the phone myself (brilliant, easy and takes no more than 5 minutes I might add!) and I'm now on the latest firmware. Seems great so far but I've got copies of previous versions should they be required.
Anyway I digress, the firmware seems to have given a marked improvement in the cameras performance, but I'll continue my snapping through the day to confirm this and get back to you with my results.Message Edited by skyline_stu on 04-Aug-200705:20 AM

Poor quality Export for HD with moving objects

When I export from iMovie6 any moving image is very poor quality. I am using a Sony HDR-HC1 and trying to export at the highest possible settings.
When the image is still the quality is very good, but if anything moves the image goes "wobbly" and "jigsaw" like. Panning shots are hopeless and anyone walking in the shot goes wobbly.
The original capture image seems fine, so I assume it is an exporting problem. Exporting at lower setting, ie for an iPod, the image is great.
I have tried all different setting, some are better than others.
Can anyone help?

(..You don't normally see 'interlaced' video in iMovie's playback window - you normally see just a single field of the two, to make the picture clearer and simpler to display..)

This is an HDV camcorder, and you didn't say if the original footage which you shot was HDV or normal DV. (HDV is recorded differently from normal DV, as it's recorded in a more compressed format, and it has to be automatically 'unscrambled' by Apple's Intermediate Codec while you're importing it into iMovie HD.)
It seems as if somewhere along the chain of importing>editing>exporting, the fields are being reversed, so that you get this jumpiness on replay when QuickTime tries to deliver a "highest quality" interleaved replay of both fields:
Ah ..sudden thought: you mentioned that you exported thro' iDVD: "..I have used iDVD by dropping it into a DVD theme and it seems to work ok, although the playback is a little jumpy, not quite as good I would have expected.."
You may have left the iDVD settings at their default 'NTSC' instead of switching them to PAL.
Check your iDVD Preferences ..that may be the problem.

Poor Quality Export to AVI

Hi im a newcomer to Premier Pro and need some help in adjusting my settings for exporting my video.
The video in question is made up of 5 seperate videos (created from still jpegs with ImageVideoMachine at 1024x768 with 24fps and 1080HD Profile). When I view these videos seperately they are good quality and do not have any problems. However after i imported them to Premier Pro and added an audio track in the background and a small bit of text the quality after export is really bad in places.
I have tried lots of different settings in the export but just cant seem to get it right. The main problems that seem to occur is when the camera moves quickly from one scene to another and it seems to get very blurry and pixelated and sort of like half the scene is catching up (hope this makes sense!).
The entire video is only 4 and a half minutes long so I am not too worried about the size of the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated as im at a loss what to try next and the poor quality of the video takes away so much from my hard work in creating the presentation.

Just as further information for anyone who can help. These are the properties of one of the five .avi files I created using ImageVideoMachine. As I said these play at a good quality and without any pixelation of blurriness.

Poor quality exporting from iMovie to iDVD

When I export a dv movie from iMovie to iDVD, the quality drops significantly. A nice clean movie imported from a dv camcorder to iMovie becomes horrible pixelated mess once exported into iDVD and actually burned into a DVD. No matter what quality settings one uses.
It seems like many people experience similar problems, judging by postings (unanswered, as far as I can tell). It also appears that basically everyone using iMovie has this problem, but most people are content with poor quality DVDs, or are they?
Does anyone know why this is so, and if there is any workaround? You know, the simplest way out is to switch to a PC and use one of their standard movie editing software, but isn't Mac supposed to be better for this purpose?

If You included photos into Your movie and used Share/Export to iDVD. iMovie
asks to render the material = Destructive in two ways:
• Losy iDVD project
• Original iMovie IS HARMED: Photos needs to be re-imported and re-edited.
• Re do the import and editing.
• Close iMovier
• Open iDVD
• Drop iMovie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD

There are a major difference between a Mac Monitor and a Standard TV (much less
sharpness due to 525 - 625 lines (NTSC or PAL))
I connect my Camera to my Mac (via FW) and analog out to a TV so that I can monitor
the process during iMovie editings. (iMovie preferences set Playback via Camera)

Poor Quality Export. PLEASE HELP!

In FCP X, I am trying to export my project in full quality. I went to quicktime export like I did in FCP7 to create a reference file for burning to DVD but the file was very pixilated and poor quality. what should I do to create a full quality export in FCP X?

So you captured via Firewire ... then it seems likely the footage is DV.
You imported the footage into FCP X, edited with it, and then exported using Share > Export Movie w/ Current Settings, yes? If not, how? What specific steps and settings did you use?
And then you burnt a DVD with the exported movie file and it looks pixelated on your TV? Did you do a direct DVD burn test using the original capture files, just to test that they are not teh problem?

No audio when exporting slideshow in any format

Hi, anybody knows what can be the reason - when I export my slideshows in any format (youtube, HD, different framerates, codecs etc..) I do not hear any sound. Tried iTunes and QuickTime. When i see the preview in Aperture everything is correct.
I'm using trial version of Aperture 3 by the moment.

Poor Quality Exports of 2D Images

I have been asked by one of my users about an issue he is having trying to export 2D images of an 3D model in Acrobat 8 Pro on a PC running Windows XP Pro.
I've looked at the preferences, tried various permutations of the preferred render and legacy hardware setting, and tried increasing the quality of the JPEG and PNG settings in the Output options: none of these produce satisfactory results - it gives muddy lines, poor anti-aliasing and a generally worse appearance than I can get by doing a print screen.
Is this just a limitation of the version of Acrobat being used, which might improve with version 9, or does anyone have any tips on what to look at to rectify the situation?
If it is any help, someone else who took a look at it thought that the output seemed to be not using the DirectX9 even when it was set - could it just be that the hardware/ video card isn't up to it?
Please excuse the possible use of confusing or incorrect terms - I'm a 2D not a 3D person by experience, so I've not got a lot to go on: any help gratefully received!

The maker of the programme you choose to use is quite moot as they will all use Quicktime to do the actual conversion, and Apple make that.
What export settings are you using? And what are you viewing the output on?
What dimensions and colour profile are the original files?
DVD's are very heavily compressed as is mp4, and slideshows sent to iDVD are doubly compressed - first in iPhoto and afterwards by iDVD.
The best programme is made by Apple. It's called Final Cut. The Express version is excellent and well worth the price, assuming you don't want to pop the $1k for the full Studio version. However, if you've never used an NLE be prepared for a learning curve.
Like any slideshow app you will get best results with non compressed images - i.e. don't use Jpegs or png as these are compressed. Making the slideshow in any app involves further compression so working in a lossless format like tiff is best.
The best output setting will depend on where you intend showing the slideshow.
Alternatives include PhotoToMovie and Photomagico. There are others, search on MacUpdate.

Poor quality export from imported mp4 screen capture

My video source is an mp4 file created from a screen capture of a unix app running on a PC. Quicktime plays the mp4 file fine (lots of detail, dark blacks, ...), but the resulting movie (Share > Export Movie > HD 720p) is faded. When shown on a large screen, the movie is pixelated and faded (grey blacks, etc.).
I imported the mp4 file into iMovie (File > Import > Movies) with Fit in Frame, Optimize video unchecked, Widescreen (16/9), and 30 fps NTSC.
I have tried various combinations of import and export settings and the above is the best I get.
I'm guessing the import is throwing half the information away (hence the faded appearance). Whatever the cause, is there a way to import mp4 files into iMovie and get the same quality on the export? I tried exporting the entire import and got a file about half the size.

Not able to export files in any format from PP 5.5 new installation.

Hi all.
Hoping someone can help. I just recentlyinstalled a full licensed education version of CS5.5. I was previously running a trial version. I have been trying to export a project, yet everytime I try and export, it crashes at around 2%. I have tried a number of different export formats and have adjusted the codecs to settings that I knew worked in the trial version. It just comes up with an "Unexplained error".
it's driving me nuts as I have to get this file output.
the file I am trying to output is 2 hours and 10 mins long, although I'm pretty sure the length would not cause an issue as it exported fine in the trial version.
has anyone encountered something similar or can anyone please offer a solution or advice.

If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video... read above about codecs
Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

Poor quality export and zoom

I downloaded trial of 4.1 and 4.2 of LR and wanted to make my photos is this software over DPP, but...
I was working few days until did some compare of export files. It's terrible.
I'm not speaking about wrong colors or so. I have all profiled and I'm useing icc also monitor icc capable viewers,
but any way - loaded to LR look same.
It's also no problem with jpg quality settings, I use 76, but there is no better with 100%.
Exported with sRGB.
Jpeg quality is bad if more dark colors in one. If I take exposure down, then it looks like jpg saved with 1 quality.
This same quality I get when zoom 1:1, on normal screen is OK.
Is this trial problem? If so, no problem, but if I buy and get this same, then I can be ungry.
No such problem with DPP.
Any ideas?

EDIT - i send files to friend with full version, it's this same! More... It's this same even when exported to Tiff uncompressed.
I followed more and found that problem is much less visible with Adobe Std profile instead of camera profiles (neutral, portrait etc..). Screenshots are saved via paint and here rescaled, but You exactly can see what I mean. In reality DPP You can't pixels as here, so also in LR little less, also on screenshots from export colors are a little bit off, but in real they are similar.

Poor quality Exporting HD to Standard def with iDVD

I am new to this forum thing. Sorry if I get the etiquette wrong. I have filmed my sons 1hr soccer game in HD (1440 x 1080i). I have added titles, replays and music etc in final cut express. No problem here. I export to quick time movie. Then import into iDVD, create theme and burn DVD. Problem is when I try cut a DVD to SD the game is really jumpy. The play is not smooth at all. I am new to Macs and final cut express, which is adding to my frustration. Can anyone help me with best setting to get nice smooth result? I know some of you may think, why HD? I just love the quality on a full HD screen. Camera can shot in SD but would like to stay in HD. Any suggestions. We down here in NZ use Pal and I would like in 16x9. Thanks

I dare to say: quality in FCE and FCP with your material is same..
the difference could come on DVD-authoring..
as you noticed, the operator adjusted bitrates..
=> no chance to do so in iDVD in iDVD, you adjust bitrates by the length of the project! as long as content on DVD is <60min (that includes button animations, 'Theme' movies etc), iDVD uses the max of bitrate, standards allow.. so, iDVD or DVDSP - for shorter project, concerning pic quality, you shouldn't notice any differences.
usually, bad pic quality on DVD results of 'bad' source:
• source is not iApp compatible (not in your case, as YT-videos, DivX-downloads etc)
• imported project has wrong settings.. (e.g. framerate)
• transfer file uses wrong codecs (e.g. highly compressed h264)
so,
a) check your FCE project properties - do they 'fit' to your camera
b) transfer by using Quicktime Movie, NOT Quicktime Conversion
c) set iDVD to same standard as your FCE project (30frames=NTSC, 25=PAL)
d) stay under 60min to get the max...
. . Reading the manual it says 50 is fields per sec and 25p is 25frames per sec. Yes it is not progressive.

you have 50i, or 25p
and 1080/25p is not supported by FCE4; 1080/50i IS supported..

Poor quality export to Quicktime

I'm using Keynote '08 and getting varying results when exportng to QuickTime
Both using these settings:
Export
Quicktime
Include audio sound files / movie audio
Full-quality large
The only differences were:
6 months ago
Manual advance
The Keynote had 2 quicktime movies incorporated
Result - excellent quality
Yesterday
Recorded timing
Include the slide show recording
The keynote had NO quicktime movie BUT a voice over narration
Result - poor and photos were very degraded
Can anybody shine light on what could have happened please?

Where have all the experts gone? I thought this would have an easy solution.

Poor quality Video, picture pixelated using apple tv

Hi, I can stream video like bbc iplayer using apple tv2, from my iPhone 3GS and my ipad2. Moving pictures ( video) tends to be very pixelated to fast the image the worse it is . Still photos are good and the sound is perfect.. Wifi is from BT with router hub 3 The picture quality is the same using wifi or Ethernet cable. Is my problem with the hub ? If so can you recommend a router that is comparable with BT and apple tv?

Poor quality exports

I've created flowcharts for a client in Lucid Chart, and saved them as PDF. The quality at that point is excellent. When I use PDF pack to export to either Word or Excel the quality is terrible. Can this be corrected?

Error in exporting data to any format after user has cancelled the request

Hi all
I have a scenario with crystal report when open from SAP B1 for which I need your expertise guidance.
The situation is as follows.
After I enter parameters to a report, its opens up. When I export the data to pdf, the data is correct.
Now, I press the refresh button on the report. Now the parameter screen opens up but I dont change any values, and press CANCEL.
If I export my report (which has been open since the first time I opened from SAP screen), the data exported is different (The data shown on report is different).
After running the SQL profiler, I observed that the crystal report is actually executing the procedure with NULL PARAMETERS when I CANCEL and export the data though the parameters passed to the already open report is different.
Any inputs to solve the above problem is really appreciated.
